In case anyone is still looking for the magazine ... I am currently selling the Storm/Wolverine cover on EBay, for the price that I bought it for, which was $9.99. Shipping is $4 because I ship Priority 2 day ... here is the link .....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6613115695&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

I will be listing the Phoenix/Magneto one as well .... just thought I would let those know that might not be able to find it.... :D

Because apparently, and even til now, you still don't get the point of my post. Had they included the deleted scenes talking about Jean's growing powers, she could have been a more involved character in the plot. They weren't.

I feel like i'm repeating myself.

That's the last you'll hear from me.

I do get. I just totally disagree.

Including talk about her growing powers would sound forced: "hey, her powers are growing, did you notice?"

I have the latest Hotdog issue. It has a list of films, stars, actors etc that they think will be significant in 2006. Hugh Jackman is their "Hot Star" and they have a 4-page profile that includes references to his role in the X-Men films including X3. I don't think it has anything new about X3 or mention of X3 elsewhere in the magazine. They include The Fountain (which stars Hugh) as the "Hot Movie", Flushed Away as "Hot Rats" and Superman as the "Hot Superhero".

I thought I would stick in this thread reports on what Hugh said on four entertainment shows when he received his ShoWest Performer of the Year award since it's technically "in the press":

1. On "The Insider" they showed clips, and Hugh said:

"Making these movies is always a blast because Halle Berry's in it."

Host: While X-Men Hugh Jackman wasn't giving up much in terms of X-Men the Last Stand's plot, he did hint we may not have seen the last of his wild Wolverine.

Hugh: This is basically, we're intending this to be the end, this is the end of the trilogy. Then (chuckling) we're doing a Wolverine movie..."

2. On "Entertainment Tonight" after the host called him up to the podium (the only show that showed him at the podium) he said "I'm incredibly honored. I've actually been here once before. How big is this room? How are you guys doing in the back there - you good??? Officially they're in Utah, I believe, out there but...." (does he know how to work a room or what?).

3. On Access Hollywood :

Host: ShoWest Star of the Year gave me the lowdown on X-Men 3 (as they show some clips):

What about Halle Berry, what's she got going on in this one?

Hugh (very serious): Well, I'll give you a scoop, we have a little bit of a date, Wolverine and Storm...

Host: Really!

Hugh: But it kind of goes wrong because Wolverine tries to unhook her bra (as he winks).

Host: Stop it! (both start laughing)

4. On Extra:

Male Star of the Year Hugh Jackman is preparing to return as Wolverine in X-Men: The Last Stand. And how did the buff Aussie achieve his ripped physique?

"Working out like a dog and eating like there's no tomorrow," he admitted.

I was about to post that haha. I saw that magazine today and took a look at it, I didn't have time to read it but I could see the pics and none of them were new.

Also, a while ago I checked the site for the other major mexican movie magazine (Cinemania) and they had some kind of X3 contest which has already finished :( I never knew what it was about. Plus, at the main site they have a poll: http://www.cinemania.com.mx/home.php. Here's the translation, the question is: "How much are you looking forward to the X-Men 3 premiere?" (¿Cuántas ganas tienes de que se estrene X-Men III?). The answers are: "A lot" (Muchas) "Few" (Pocas) "I don't care" (No me importa) and "Again? Enough with comic book movies" (¿Otra vez? Ya basta de cómics). Please vote for "MUCHAS" :D.

He was not happy, twas all an act. If he was happy about being in love with someone, it would not be Katie Holmes.

If Katie was a little bit more manly and named Stevie Holmes, then yes, it would have not been an act. :o:O

Multiple Man(X3) has a large battle with Wolverine.
Jubilee, M, and Siryn have small appearances, although it is speculated that they are the major players of the project 'X' that is being prepared by Zak Penn.

Ugly cover but GREAT Ratner interview. Also, a very good back up article called, "Pryde of the X-Men" interviewing Ellen Page.

As for the Ratner interview, he confirms some big news...

SENTINELS ARE IN! IT'S OFFICIAL! (unless this reporter is seriously misquoting Brett)
"I've been able to put stuff in this movie which, for some reason, Bryan wasn't. The Danger Room. The Fastball Special, where Wolverine is thrown like a fastball. And also the Sentinels - it's really hard to make a robot a character. All these things weren't in the script until I introduced them."

That last line will elevate Brett to cult hero status if it's true.

X3 is featured in an article in the New Entertainment Weekly, titled “Holding Out For a Hero”. There is photo of Storm (X2) and Wolverine (X2), along with Spidey, Supes, Batman, Harry Potter, ect ect.

The gist of the article is about aging movie franchises, and the problems with sequels. Movies tend to drop off 21 percent from the 2nd to 3rd movie. And fourth movies do even worse.

Movie studios are trying to keep things fresh by dropping numbers from titles, cited examples (X3 to X-Men: The Last Stand and Ice Age 2 to Ice Age: Meltdown).

There is a list of new movie franchises in development (Ghost Rider, Capt America, Wolverine, The Flask, Luke age and Nick Fury). The also mention the Magneto prequel.

The article features a picture of Iceman and Kitty kissing on the fountain/frozen pond.

It also notes that Wolverine is the one who directs Kitty in so far as what to retrieve from the lab in which the Juggernaut chase occurs (leadership role for Wolverine).

Also, Page says one of her favorite scenes is one in which she and a some other X-Men are dropped from the X-Jet while still in the air (I believe she said something like 50 or 60 feet, but I could be wrong).

I think it depends on the franchise, and I don't see it happening in this case. Ice Age 2 (although an animated movie) just made $21 million on Friday and is projected for around $70 million for the weekend. The first Ice Age made $46 million for the weekend in 2002. And Lord of the Rings 2 made $62 million opening weekend and LOTR 3 made $72 million. So I think it depends on the franchise.

Halcohol
04-02-2006, 08:01 AM
Yeah, but if you went to see FOTR, you were pretty much pre-destined to go see TT and ROTK. You couldn't NOT go, because of the attachment you grew for the characters starting right from the first movie. It was all one big story.

The X-Men movies, while being a 'trilogy' are really just three separate stories that take place one after the other. They won't have the cohesiveness of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

As for Ice Age 1 and 2, well, let's face it. There's really no other kid's movies out right now, plus Ice Age appeals to a wide range of viewers. Oh, and projections are almost always waaay too high.

Not originally, but I think they're going to reference the last two films as a more of a coherent, plot important and storytelling serving point. In other words, this team of filmmakers has made an attempt to link the three together: everything that has happened, will be followed upon and lead to a dramatic conclusion for all concerned.

I think my precognostication is that it'll warrant dusting off the dvds of X1 and X2 in order to understand X3 (and thus warranting further cinematic replay value!) :D

^Excellent post, pyro. I think I kind of lost track of my point while I was typing my post that you quoted :p

The only reason I wrote what I did was to make the point that the X-Men movies can't really be compared to "true" trilogies like LOTR. I guess even the original Star Wars doesn't count as a "true" trilogy, which I would define as making the first movie with the second and third in mind. X-Men by Bryan Singer wasn't made KNOWING there would be more, neither was A New Hope.

Since we know a large amount of X3 has been written BASED on the previous movies, I think you're correct in your prediction that viewing the first two will shed a whole lot more light on X3 than if you go into it with no prior knowledge of the universe.

I really, really hope to see a LOT of references to the first two, and it's looking more and more like I won't be disappointed :)

I really really enjoy my job, actually. It's strange, but I get a kick out of showing people a good time.

Not so strange; I really love seeing people who behold passion for a job or profession or a living that they do, because it always puts things in perspective for them (and for me), no matter what.

A job with a smile, even if it is a 'constructive' smile.

Ratner mentions Omega Red: There's Callisto [Dania Ramirez], Arclight [Omyrha Mota], and Omega Red [Vince Murdocco]. They're small parts, but they have powers. Magneto has a team now."

Update:

Rebecca is on Regis & Kelly right now and before they started to discuss her new show they did mention X-Men. She mentioned it comes out May 26 and most of the conversation was about the makeup and how it took 7 hours to put it on and how much time it took to take it off. Regis asked her how many times she had to do this in this movie and she said "about 15 or 20 times" so I'm guessing that was her filming schedule - 15 or 20 days.

Q&A REBECCA ROMIJN

This spring Rebecca Romijn plays a news reporter in the WB's Pepper Dennis and a shape shifter in X-Men: The Last Stand

You watched a lot of news for this TV show. Any insights? The smaller the market, the bigger the hair. One local news reporter was doing a broadcast from a moving roller coaster. On the hour every hour, she screamed her report out. Was it news? I don't know.

Your parents were hippies. What did they think of your becoming a model? I left U.C. Santa Cruz to go to Paris. At school, people were partying, wasting time. I learned more the first five days I was in Paris than I did in a year at Santa Cruz.

What can you tell me about the new X-Men movie? I'm covered in blue paint again. And I suffer a heartbreak.

Are you wedding planning with your fiancé, actor Jerry O'Connell? There's no planning going on, but it's definitely gonna be this year, something small and private.

Don't you live in an old brothel? Yes. It's called Wagon Wheel Ranch. Jerry and I took a trip to Napa last year. When we got back, he put in 800 grapevines. Within a couple years, we'll start producing our own Cabernet, Wagon Wheel Wine. Our website will be www.www.com

It sounds as if you domesticated him. Yes, Jerry was quite a bachelor when we met. There was nowhere to put your cocktail down in his place. Just the Ping-Pong table.

Cure for mutancy sets the battlefield in ‘X–men: The Last Stand’
Wed Apr 05, 2006

On May 24, the "X-Men" comes to a wrap-up with director Brett Ratner’s "X-Men: The Last Stand." Known for merging kick-ass action sequences and well-polished scripts, much is expected from "X-3" as it’s supposed to topple "X-Men" in 2000 and X-2" in 2003.

"X-3’s" plot rolls out when a scientist (Shohreh Aghdashloo) discovers a cure for mutanism. With this development, the mutants have a choice for the first time either to remain unique and powerful despite the isolation that burdens them or give up their powers to become humans. Choosing the latter will liberate them from the freak show that they have succumbed to all these years.

Enter the opposing viewpoints of mutant leaders Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) and Magneto (Ian McKellen). While Professor X preaches tolerance, Magneto administers survival of the fittest. This clash triggers the ultimate war to end all previous battles between human and mutants and mutants against its own kind.

One of the most important factors that pulls X-Men movies through is casting. Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Halle Berry as Storm, Ian McKellen as Magneto and Rebecca Romjin as Mistique proved highly effective mutants in human and sub-human dilemmas. But "X-3" marks the entry of other significant X-Men from the hit Marvel series; Beast, Angel, Colossus, Jaggenaut, Callisto and Kitty Pride are to make their mark in "The Last Stand."

For the third and concluding saga, casting director Alexander Aja said, "Our concept was always to make the movie feel as real as it possibly could. So during casting, we looked for actors who could bring these characters to life in a very natural and authentic way. The rule from the beginning was to stay away from any campy actors and from big names, people with too much personality and star appeal so that you see the actor, rather than relating to the character."

The result of this search: Ben Foster is cast as Angel, Daniel Cudmore is Colossus, Vinnie Jones is Juggernaut, Dania Ramirez is Callisto, Ellen Page is Kitty Pride, and Kelsey Grammer is Beast. They join landmark roles of Jackman as Wolverine, Stewart as Professor X, Halle Berry as Storm, Rebecca Romjin as Mistique, Patrick Stewart as Magneto, Shawn Ashmore as Iceman, Anna Paquin as Rogue, Famke Janssen as Jean Grey, Aaron Stanford as Pyro, and James Marsden as Pyro.

Before "X-3" rules the movie fever on May 24, here are some "X-3" trivia from www.imdb.com (http://www.imdb.com):

Bryan Singer was supposed to direct and co-write the film’s script, but when he was given the offer to take over the problematic Superman Returns (2006) from Brett Ratner, he left the project, taking with him most of the production staff, including composer and editor John Ottman, cinematographer Newton Thomas Sigel, writers Mike Dougherty and Dan Harris, and production designer Guy Dyas. (Singer has maintained in interviews that he would have loved to have gladly done this movie after completing the "Superman" project, but 20th Century Fox chose to continue without him.) Layer Cake (2004) director Matthew Vaughn then stepped into the director’s chair, overseeing the script and production, only to leave 9 weeks before filming, unable to commit to the year-long production schedule which would keep him away from his family in England. In an odd twist of fate, Brett Ratner filled the vacated position. Ironically, Ratner was also a contender to direct X-Men (2000) before Singer got the job.

Mike Vogel was up for the role of Angel, but could not take the part because scheduling conflicted with Poseidon (2006).

Jed Bernard auditioned for the role of Angel.

Nick Stahl was considered for the part of Warren Worthington/Angel.

Josh Holloway was offered the role of Gambit, but turned it down because the character was too similar to his character on "Lost" (2004). Eventually, the character was dropped from the film.

Maggie Grace was considered for the part of Kitty Pryde.

For one of the scenes, a 2,500 foot replica of the Golden Gate Bridge was built.

Summer Glau auditioned for the role of Kitty Pryde
