It's a tie between Doom and The Thing.

I voted for Human Torch. He is my favorite member of the Fantastic Four.
But I like Dr. Doom just as much as Human Torch.:D

Invisible Woman
The Human Torch
The Thing
I also liked Doctor Doom, but there wasn't enough of him in the mask & costume & he didn't have an altered voice which took away from the over all enjoyment of the character. It probably wouldn't have worked well with most of his lines anyways.

Tie between Thing and Doom. But Doom did have that cool menacing voice in the R2 DVD....hmmm
eh still a tie.

It has to be Michael Chikles' Thing. I mean he just totally embodied the character perfectly.

It's hard to pic between Torch and The Thing. I think the The Thing would edge Johnny out because he got the most touching scenes.

I would have to say The Thing, mostly because of Chiklis' performance, but Torch was a very close second, but i didnt dislike any of the character's to be honest, it was just that i cared for some more than others.

this is a really tough question, none of their performances stuck out for me...
and there seem to be no love for alba yet in this thread, was she really that much worse than the main cast?

I thought Alba did a good job, there was only one scene were i questioned her acting skills and that was when she says "Johnny NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOO!" when Johnny jumps off of the baxter. But anyone knows a big NO always sounds corny in any movie. I really dont have a problem with her acting at all and wish everyone would get off her back.

The torch.
Torch and Thing for me about even. They both did a great job.
As far as no love for Alba, I thought she was fine in the role. However, the way her role was scripted, Thing and Torch take much of the spotlight. So I think Alba is overlooked not because she did anything wrong, she just wasn't as prominent in the film's characterizations.

I think in most of these cases, these favorite characters were their favorite characters before the movie...which is of course understandable...in most polls of this type whether its strickly the comic, or the movie...if you compared the two types of polls they would come out basically the same....doesn't really have anything to do with love or hate of an actor....
mine would go like this...
Michael's portrayal of Ben
Jessica's portrayal of Susan
Chris' portrayal of Johnny
Ioan's portrayal of Reed
Julian's portrayal of Victor, did not like his portrayal of Doom.
I put Michael and Jessica first as Ben and Sue because of their scene together...it was my favorite in the movie, and to me totally showed the love between these two characters...I felt it, saw it, and heard it...something that I can't say I saw all three in the others...
And as a Jessica fan, I'm really kind of tired of people coming and saying that not much love is being shown her way....you can definitely say that of the early months of production....but since the movie has come out...I haven't seen or felt this on this forum....people might not have enjoyed her portrayal of Sue....thats fine....thats their opinion....but no one....absolutely no one around her has shown anything even resembling what I saw those first few months....and to me that says alot....I'm fine with how people have given their opinion on her performance and the performance of all the actors....most have been very fair, balanced, and respectful...to me that says a hell of alot about this forum...something I can't always say for other areas of the hype.

I'd be all for seeing Malice. Heck, she could help Fox get the pg 13 rating they look for. Could you imagine the fake signature, glossy set photos that would be popping up all over ebay if Alba donned the leather and spikes?

Johnny Storm, the Human Torch.
Reed Richards was a total non-entity in this movie. He had no character or personality whatsoever. Sue was almost as bad and her only job was "look pretty", which how cataclismically unbelievable as it may sound, I thought she even failed at (Jessica Alba has looked hotter in every other movie she's been in). The Thing was allright, I suppose, but Chiklis never "wowed" me. Doom was another zero on the charts most of the time, but he had some cool "evil" glares, so...
Johnny was the only character I actually enjoyed watching.

I honestly can't decide. For me, the Fantastic Four has always been a...collective entity. I just can't seperate them. Sure Johnny will steal the show sometimes with his humor, or Ben with his heart, etc., but really, it's them all together that works, it's them all together that matters to me.

That's how I like to think of them as well. But sadly, this movie made that impossible for me... They were not a group, they were not a collective, they were not a team. Sure, the writers thought of a gimmick to employ all their powers in the end for the same goal, but that doesn't mean they ever functioned or behaved as a team or, god forbid, a family.
I'm not sure if it was the actors' bland performances or the script that caused such a total lack of heart between what essentially should be a conflicted, yes, but close family unit. Probably both.

It was an origin movie. Get that thru your thick head. They had to be explained more individually, then as a team. They worked as a team at the end of the movie, and the'll work more as a team in the sequel, because they don't have to be explained anymore. The explaining is done.

The first X-Men movie was an origin movie that had a LOT more explaining to do than FF and they were able to make the X-Men feel like a real team, people who belonged together and had a bond, whether they were conflicted between eachother or not. And they acted as a team throughout the whole movie, culminating in a complete team effort at the end.
There was no such thing in FF. The characters had ZERO chemistry together.

There was not as much charactor development needed in X-Men, as there was in FF. They did an excelent job. The entire cast worked well together, the chemistry was great. You could tell they had fun making the movie, and enjoyed each others company. That translated onto the screen, and if you can't see that, take the blinders off.

My favorite character in the comics is the Invisible Women but my favorite character in the movie would have to be the Human Torch. I think Chris Evans really brought that character to life and realized how the Torch acted (due to all those improvisations that he did).

Sure, they still need to grow, and mesh together - it's only the first film - but they did give us The Torch and Mr. Fantastic, etc. The dialogue and everything around them may have been quite weak, but at least, for me, I saw the Fantastic Four on-screen.

Well, I won't argue that for some people it might have worked. Maybe my particular expectations were just too high, but I had hoped for more, perhaps unrealistically so... If you feel you saw what you envision as the FF, that's cool. I didn't. I just hope that, like you said, the sequel will prove to be better, especially in that area.

They are the foundation of the group, and as such, are a bit bland compared to Johnny and the Thing. I'm hoping to see a bit more of them in the next episode. I think Jessica and Ioan did a great job with what they had.
The Torch was exuberant and The Thing was conflicted. Both were fun, dynamic characters. Both actors took full advantage of this potential and hit home runs. Fun to watch.
I really enjoyed the first movie. The second one should be great.
