I think I'm going to get the dvd with the whole season and give it another chance. I wish they hadn't put it on mtv, then it might have had a better audience and had lasted longer. To have a cliff hanger ending to the last episode and no follow up sucks big time. I hate stuff like that!

It's changin' networks, so eventually it'd be back.

An' as fer th' show itself, it sucked. Bad. Out of order episodes, crappy stories...it was pure, utter CRAP.

CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP.

May whoever developed this thing go to hell an' DIE!

I enjoyed the show but they made a mistake by constructing the image and dialogue around an MTV audience. I heard the second season was given a green light back this past Summer but I haven't heard anymore since. Does anyone have any news on this?:spidey:

Its interestng because the 90s tas ended with a huge cliff hanger, so did spider-man unlimited (but that was crap anyway) and behold, the same thing applies to the mtv show. I want this show to return, it was enjoyable to some degree but if it does return major changes need to occur.

Ultimate Doom

I also want this show to return only if its better some stuff like...

- better stories
- no tie in with the movies
- Cool villains that were in the comics (turbo jet )
- People that actually change clothes (im tired of that purple undershirt peter )
- New Network to show on (NO MTV )

just little and big stuff like that.

No tie ins to the movie?? The show is based on the movie. Waht you want is a brand new spider-man series altogether.

I'd also like Columbus Circle. Fer you non NYers, Columbus Circle is th' area where ESU was located in th' show via all th' overhead shots. Columbia, which it's roughly based on, is about 60 blocks north of it on th' other end of the park. I also want a more realistic NY...theirs was too clean.

An' ya got yer wish, Doom; they announced a while ago it wasn't gonna be on MTV.

Basically they finished the season & there was no great demand for more. Y'know, Marvel doesn't do very well when it comes to cartoons.

The 1990's X-Men animated series was succesful. Why can't the Spider-Man show be succesful?

Chris Wallace
01-12-2006, 02:16 PM
Partly because they couldn't figure out what demographic to aim it at; it was supposed to be based on the movies, they brought in elements of the comics (Kingpin, Silver Sable) but couldn't use certain villains for fear it would conflict w/the seccond movie & it wound up just mainly being for the TRL audience.

Happenstance
01-12-2006, 02:33 PM
Linking it to the movie really did hold the series back on what it could and couldnt do.

I found the problems it has were awful stories, bad character design (apart from Spidey, I think he was the only good one), bad voice acting.

I cant see the point in bringing it back for another season, there were too many problems so I think starting from scratch is the best option.

One thing everyone can agree on... the Animation was killer.

That being said, they didn't even put very much stock in the stories, villians, or anything else. People say it was for MTV audiences, that means it was for the idiots that watch lame shows like TRL, 'Next,' either of their lame award shows, or the mindless music videos they play now.

MTV - Crap.

I wouldn't go so far as to call the MTV audience idiots; just a little less discerning than some of us. I heard a stand-up comic say the other day that "Cribs" should change its name to "Don't YOU fell like a failure?!?"

I sure hope that is a sign that the MTV show is returning, but just not on MTV hopefully..:(....I think this "Hobgoblin" thing also may be a clue as to who is in S-M3. Possibly the first new episode of this show happens right after S-M3.....

Is this show going to have a season 2,or are they gonna at least make a new spidey series?

And it's cool that they base some of the villains on the movie, but they should at least make there own versions of the ones that hadn't made it to the movie, instead of leaving them out of the show for good.

That Hobgoblin would look cool in the series,we need more classic villains, and not some crappy made up ones.

If a new Spider-Man season comes on TV it probably won't have any connection to the MTV series. I'd bet you that they'd just start fresh and try and keep it away from the stories that were told throughout the three Spider-Man movies.

Its amazing. As time goes on, one would expect for things to naturally progress and to learn from ones mistakes but Marvel, at least with all their spider-man properties keep f'ing it up. Relying on the movies as a means to maintain some sort of "success" for the spider-man brand is a complete and utter joke. The fact is there just isn't any more raw talent. People rely on the basic, quick and easy with short term perspectives that ultimately provide piss-poor performance and unfortunately its showing now more than ever in the comics too.

GoldGoblin
04-11-2006, 07:54 AM
Do you think they will make a season 2 after the third movie has come out, because then we could get some more villains added from the movie big time.

-Green Goblin from S-M
-Doc Ock from S-M2
-Sandman,Green Goblin 2,and Venom from S-M3

And they can even make some other villains that they know won't be in the movie any time soon, like Hydro Man,and Man Wolf.

Personally, I wish they'd bring it back just so they could undo the cliffhanger from the first season.

I like to think of it as its own distinct continuity, separate from the movies, the comics or any previous cartoon, in which it's closed & finished.

You think they will announce a season 2 at Comic Con?

It's been so long since the first season aired, I think it's pretty clear that the show's long dead by now. Even if a new Spidey toon were announced, and even if that toon were done in CGI, I doubt they'd follow the storylines from a show that ended three years prior. Especially since they've made it clear that if the show ever had continued, it wouldn't have been on the same network.

GoldGoblin
04-20-2006, 12:44 AM
If it doesn't come out before S-M3,then I guess it really is gone. Why don't they just make it for dvd if they can't air it on another network.

TwilightPro101

Well, the series did appear post-Spider-man. So I really wouldn't count out another possible animated series. I just honestly wouldn't expect a sequel to this one.

How many shows have done that even?

^I don't know. But even movies that come out in theaters come out on dvd three months later, because they know the dvd sales is where they will make there money, not in the theaters.

So maybe the spidey series should just skip another station all together and go straight to dvd.

-sigh- It is a tv show. God. It isn't perfect, it is a cartoon. It has its flaws, if you don't like it - then you don't like it. Why complain consistantly about it? What does that achieve? Nothing... however much you think it does.

Brian Michael Bendis, Executive Producer:

Bendis said working on the Ultimate Spider-Man video game was an "exceptional experience." He couldn't say the same about the MTV animated series, but said he did wish it would have gotten another season. "We could have done so much," he said.

From what I've gathered, Bendis left the show half way through the season to spend more time with his daughter. I imagine he, like everyone else, had differeing ideas than MTV on how to make a Spider-Man cartoon.

If MTV had left them be, I think this could have been a great series. No death restrictions, utterly outstanding fight scenes and some beautiful visuals. Whilst I did greatly enjoy the series, I do sometimes wonder what could've been.
