Just a note to Watchman,

I apologise for not acknowledging Scarecrow earlier. Just noticed that little detail in re-reading your Scarecrow post. I was going to have The Joker's gang head off to keystone City to visit a certain simian friend, but I'll have them take a detour to Bludhaven first...

Take your time, I'll just keep myself occupied with my Grodd prologue.

Master Bruce, a thought just occured to me:

Unless everything changed in the aftermath of The Unity Saga, Two-Face is the undisputed crime boss of Gotham City. In Season 2, Two-Face ran both Penguin and Black Mask out of town, taking all their territory. And in Season 3, Black Mask's attempt to win back his territory was brought to a halt by The Unity. So, technically, Gotham IS "Your city".

...

I...did not know that.

Wow...That's something I'll have to remember for my next post... :o

Hey guys. I'd just like to point something out. Near the very end of last season, The Penguin made a comeback and bought stocks in most of the businesses, as a "legit" business man. So he's not really out of town anymore.

By the way Master Bruce, I love your portrayal of Two Face. It's so cool how you get into his head and have those internal arguements. Great font choices as well.

I'll have to keep that in mind, aswell. It'd make sense for Harvey to be keeping tabs on him, just in case Oswald made any plans to try and take back his territory.

Too bad no one's playing Pengy right now...

And thanks for the compliments. :)

Just wondering, am I out of character with Grodd? Because something just doesn't feel right to me, and I'm wondering what that could be.

Also, this is wicked awesome.

I think the "SO SWEARS GRODD!" thing was a bit much. Grodd isn't that over the top.

I think the "SO SWEARS GRODD!" thing was a bit much. Grodd isn't that over the top.

Yeah, I must've been channeling Dr. Doom there.

Grodd will no longer speak like that.

SO SWEARS SUPERFERRET!!!

The Question

Here's a nice exanple of good Grodd diologue:

*Grodd is crippling Superman with psychic atacks*

"You know, Superman, The Shark and I have been having a bit of an arguement as of late. He says that there's no way to prepare a proper meal or Kryptonian meat. But I saw, just kill the filthy beast, and soak it in boiling water for a few days in the dark. Should get it nice and tender. Shall we test that now, or do you still have some bleeding out of your ears to do?"

Hehe.

Ok, thanks. All I have for Grodd references are Flash: Rogues and Blitz TPB and his cameo in Superman/Batman:Public Enemies, so I'm not too familiar with his personality beyond that.

Also, why is he always bleeding from the mouth/nose/ears?

The Question
01-15-2006, 11:42 PM
I don't think it's his blood. I think it's the blood of the people he eats. He's kind of like the super powered, talking monkey version of Hanibal Lectre.

SuperFerret
01-15-2006, 11:47 PM
Understandable, but sometimes he's bleeding without having a meal, so to speak, and what about his ears? Would his psychic abilities have anything to do with it?

The Question
01-15-2006, 11:49 PM
Well, mabey it's just a side effect of his powers. Although, I don't think I've seen him bleeding out of his ears. Just having blood around the nose/mouth area, which would come from eating people (his favorite pass time, besides reading 17th century literature and collecting WWII memorabelia).

SuperFerret
01-15-2006, 11:52 PM
Ok, just checking. I'm positive I've seen blood in his ears, though.

The Question
01-15-2006, 11:54 PM
Well, mabey that's just how Ed McGuiness draws him.

Franklin Richards

I'm lovin' the fact that the "Bodyguard"'s sonic device effected more people than he anticipated. Heh. Go Grodd. Grundy startin' to like dat stupid monkey.

And as for why Grundy can hear it? I dunno. That's just how Grundy works sometimes. It's just magic. Heh.

The Question

We have Beast Boy.

puppetfunk
01-18-2006, 11:24 AM
Screen Name: Puppetfunk

Character you would like to play: Elongated Man (Ralph Dibny)

Powers: The ability to stretch and shape his body to suit his present needs. (He's afforded certain degree of durability thanks to his powers, although not overwhelmingly superhuman.)

Is extremely intuitive, and heralded as one of the world's greatest detectives, bested only by Batman, and the Martian Manhunter.

Group your character is aligned with (if applicable): Formerly the League, and some selected affiliates.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1. I have always been a big fan of the average joe, the guys without mountain moving strength, without limitless resources, without the ability to impregnate women from across the room. Alas, in my chosen fandom, the world of big breasts and big guns such a character is a true rarity.

In all honesty, before I read Identity Crisis I had never heard the name Ralph Dibny, nor did I care to.

While, my experience with the character is certainly far more limited than one would hope, I can say without a shadow of a doubt in my mind, that Ralph is perhaps one of the most human characters I have ever laid eyes upon, and it would be and injustice to myself if I didn't apply for him.

2. He's stretchy, come on! That's so freakin' cool.

3. The love shared between Sue and Ralph was undeniably strong, so much so that death itself could not stand in the way.

Ralph in the eyes of many, will never be a main character, never be anything but a foot note in history, the comic relief with the wiggly nose and the dead wife.

It saddens me to think, that the love they share could easily be lost in the clutter of yellow fear mosters, and sidekicks back from the dead.

If I can add even a few moments of life to their relationship, I'd be extremely pleased.

Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar explaining what you think you can bring to the RPG: I have engaged in roleplaying, for a decent majority of my life. I have no real mastery of the English language, nor any skill with puncuation or grammar.

I do, however possess a formidible knowledge of obscure television and movie quotes, and a willingness to creatively butcher them for use in my roleplays, which in my humble opinion puts me on par with your average newb.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: I'm currently suffering from a severe case of procrastination, and thus my posting will be a little limited.

I can more than likely, put out a post atleast once every two days, give or take.

Color and font you plan on using for your characters speech (Might not be applicable but it makes the roster pretty): This is perfect.

How did you find out about this game, Recruitment thread/word of post/seeing the RPG OOC/IC thread? I happened upon the board while I was searching for DC fanfiction groups, and this thread is pretty much the only reason Hype! has it's own little linky thing in my favorites list.

I don't think anyone is going to force you to participate in Luthor and Joker's scheme.

If you want to go with your own arc, then go ahead.

That wasn't what i ment. I just don't want the Society so be such an important arc that it demands the attention of every hero.

Because Lex is a manipulative sociopath who thinks he's above morality and has his fingers in hundreds of illegal dealings all over the world, mabey?

Didn't 'Lex' buy out Wayne Corp? It's public knowledge that it was the Parasite and not the real Luthor. No way Batman would responsibly blame Lex for Rudy's activities.Because Lex is a manipulative sociopath who thinks he's above morality and has his fingers in hundreds of illegal dealings all over the world, mabey? Not as far as any of the heroes know.

Blame it on Batman, Superman, and Hal who mindwiped Lex at the end of the first season. Lex should have a clean slate, and how exactly could any of the heroes know any different?

In fact, his slate is better than clean. After the Unity, Lex has provided ridiculously cheap (some even free) products to the world, donated millions to charities to combat depression and unemployment, and his bodyguard isn't on the employee records anywhere (hence the concealed identity and hidden office & tunnels he uses). Plus he almost singlehandedly brought the economic portion of the depression to an end.

Lex has given absolutely no reason for anyone to believe that his mindwipe has worn off, and for all intents and purposes, he's a hero in every sense of the word as far as any of the superheroes are concerned.

That's why it strikes me as odd that I'm reading a lot of characters who seem to have something against Lex at this point for some unknown reason. I could understand if they don't trust him completely, but to go as far as investigating LexCorp on a whim (a futile endeavor), or making plans to take over the company seem kind of random.

Because he's Lex Luthor, and Batman would never beleive that a slime like that could ever permanently change. Obviously, some one like Batman would still think that Lex was up to something dirty, mainly because Batman would never trust Lex, mind wipe or no.

That wasn't what i ment. I just don't want the Society so be such an important arc that it demands the attention of every hero.Isn't that up to the hero in question to decide what they want to spend their time on?

We won't be dominating the world like the Unity, so the intervention of every character isn't going to be required. As I said before; nobody is going to force anyone to take part in the arc.

Spike_x1

Because he's Lex Luthor, and Batman would never beleive that a slime like that could ever permanently change. Obviously, some one like Batman would still think that Lex was up to something dirty, mainly because Batman would never trust Lex, mind wipe or no.As I wrote in my edit, I can understand if there's mistrust, but to go about planning to take over LexCorp based on simple mistrust is too much.

Especially since Lex is giving every indication (and more) that he's honest now. He's a victim of the mindwipe, the Parasite f**ked up his life, he saved a good chunk of the world's economy and is still trying to do so, and now he's got Batman making plans to f**k his life up even more.

If it weren't for the villainous things I've had Lex do in secret, I'd say that Batman was appearing to be (by far) the villain here.

The Question
01-20-2006, 03:54 PM
It's probably just that Batman feels that Lex is dirty. Kind of like with alot of the mob bosses he's fought in the past. People who on the outside are upstanding citizens, but in private are the worst people you could ever meet. He could probably spot someone like that very easily. And besides, JRK could just edit to say that the Outsiders are going to investigate Luthor.

wiegeabo
01-20-2006, 03:58 PM
Or, Question could just have a ton of conspiracy theories about how Luthor is using LexCorp as an economic buffer just so his company can position itself as a world leader, and to deflect any suspicion of villainous acitivites away from himself (which Question probably thinks about most businessmen anyway). And now with Outsider resources, he can convince Batman to let him investigate this.

The Question
01-20-2006, 04:01 PM
Hell yeah. Q would never trust Luthor, even if he won the humanitarian of the year award. "No one makes that much money without stepping on a few people to get it".

Spike_x1
01-20-2006, 04:04 PM
If he were simply interested in Lex because he's being nice, that'd be kind of hypocritical seeing as how Wayne fits the same description as Luthor. Or maybe it's because Lex is doing a better job at the humanitarian shtick than Bruce.

Usually Batman investigates stuff when he's given a reason to do so, not just because he feels like it.

The Question
01-20-2006, 04:06 PM
And if Batman doesn't trust Lex, then he might investigate him to make sure he's still on the up and up.

Spike_x1
01-20-2006, 04:06 PM
Yeah, I can definitely live with an indiscrete investigation easily, no problem. But planning a corporate takeover is waaay too much to base simply on a hunch.

"I'm planning to take over the Christian Children's Foundation."

"Why?"

"Because I don't trust them." -_-

The Question

2 things:

1. ...He's f**king Lex Luthor. A man like that rarely changes, at least, he doesn't suddenly change to the side of angels.

2. I have a slight feeling he doubts the validity of Hal's mindwipe anyway. I mean, it's f**king HAL, who to Batman's mind, is just a bare step ahead from GARDNER, on a GOOD day.

But, I'm willing to step it down to a mere investigation. But, you can bet your ass that if he hears any talk of "Injustice Society," he'll look at the last big and alive leader, Lex Luthor.

Batman didn't seem to have any of those feelings at the end of Season 1. What's made him change his mind?

If you really want to plot taking over LexCorp based on simple unfounded feelings of mistrust, then by all means go ahead with it; expend the extremely valuable resources to complete the business transactions. Spend money that could be donated to charities to buy whatever small amount of stock you can in LexCorp.

If you really had your heart set on it, then be my guest, but don't be surprised if you end up regretting the effort.

Sorry for not posting lately. My computer's been behaving pretty damn erratically.

I have been thinking about something though; which do you guys think is a better title for our team of supervillains: The Injustice Society or The Order?

The title "Injustice Society" has history in the RPG & a number of the villains, but it gets repetitive, especially since the comics have been using the word "Society" quite a bit as of late.

The title of "The Order" is original and it has kind of an ominous and scary sound to it, IMO. Plus it's not as on-the-nose or cliche'd sounding as the IS.

I dunno. What do you guys think?

The Question

The Cabal. Or better yet, why have a name? Just have each of the characters refer to it as they like. Luthor would probably refer to it as "our little organization", The Joker would probably refer to it as "the boring stiffs with cool toys", and Grodd would probably refer to it as "once this is over with, I am so eating these guys".

I think The Joker would definitely appreciate the irony of being the figurehead of a group called The Order, since he represents chaos.

On the subject of Arsenel, I don't have a problem having a little fight. But may I request that you don't destroy my ice-cream van? I intend to use it as part of a running joke throughout the early part of the season, as I continue to fill it with various villains. I would rather this season their wasn’t a single mayor threat that made all the other villains schemes invalid.

Don't worry, the arc we are planning isn't just one big mega-event that will overshadow everything else.

And ironically enough, Ra's al Ghul has actually indirectly helped further Joker & Luthor's scheme in a big way with his assassination of The President. All will be revealed soon enough...

No, in all seriousness I don’t think the Order would suit the gang as a name. Because its not like Luthors trying to bring order.

Don't worry, the arc we are planning isn't just one big mega-event that will overshadow everything else.

That’s ok then I just don’t want it be like the Unity arc again.

And ironically enough, Ra's al Ghul has actually indirectly helped further Joker & Luthor's scheme in a big way with his assassination of The President. All will be revealed soon enough...

Now you have intrigued me. Is Joker going to run for President? lol.:p

And MaskedMan Ra’s group is called the League of Assassins; it was called the League of Shadows in Batman Begins. I think they thought “Assassins” was too strong a word for a PG-13.

How about calling the group The Outfit? Has a bit of an organized crime ring to it.
Or maybe the Syndicate?
Or, for something more corny, the Superhero Revenge Squad?

Or mabey we shouldn't worry about a name. Really, none of our villains seem like people who would care about a team name.

Spike_x1
01-25-2006, 12:06 PM
young justice was on those super-heroes teams that were rarely called by their team name that by the public.

JLA should have just been called the Justice LeagueYou just kind of proved my point by referring to them as Young Justice. Months from now, if you want to talk about this arc, what are you going to call it by if it doesn't have a name? "Those Evil Guys Who Teamed Up That Time"?

Even if you rarely use the name, whenever you do use it, people'll know what you're talking about. Take the "Dark Alliance" for instance. It's just, the villains we have don't seem like the types who would care if the group had a name or not. I mean, I think Lex has more important things to worry about than coming up with a snappy name.History disagrees with you.

Grodd is an on/off member of the Rogues, Lex has been a member of the Injustice Gang before and also, nobody questioned him starting the Secret Society recently (which about a zillion villains are a part of, and Joker also wanting to be a member). How about the …the pure dag nasty evil gang.

No, in all seriousness I don’t think the Order would suit the gang as a name. Because its not like Luthors trying to bring order.I think you misinterpreted the word "Order." In this context, it's a synonym of the word society. He's not trying to bring order; he's a member of an order.

Plus, let's just say it's going to be instrumental in getting into The Slab...I could edit so I only took out one tire and didn't send you rolling, just sliding into the ditch if that works better?

It doesn't seem to fit in that context either in my opinion. The Order seems to me it would go with the name of something old, well controled and respected I think Luthor would see the group as more of an organization or a business. But thats just my opinion. Personally i like Blaze's Syndicate suggestion.

It'd be cool if the Joker thought it up and suggested it to Lex, who just replies, "Fine, fine, whatever. We have much more pressing issues to deal with now."

Therefore everyone's happy, we'll have a cheesy name, but most members won't like it or just ignore it. But it's there.

Spike_x1

Alright, we can go with the Syndicate when we're trying to be serious and intimidating ("Our Syndicate is forming nicely") and we can go with the SRS when seriousness isn't an issue or if Grundy or the Joker are ever talking about it.

Joker: "So Lex, how's our Superhero Revenge Squad coming?"

Lex: "Joker, don't ever refer to us by that name again."

[insert Joker constantly calling the team the SRS for the rest of the arc and Lex grinding his teeth]
