What doy you think of Dr kavita rao so far? obviosuly she has an OK role in the film more than angel and rogue even!

is kavita a character from the comics or did they invent her f or the movie?what does she do in the movie exactly ?develop the cure?what do you think of Shohreh Aghdashloo?
She's in the comics, an Indian doctor I believe. Given the confusion when she was casted (she said she was going to be Cecilia Reyes), she may have a "made up" power along the lines of Cecilia Reyes. In the comic books, Rao is human.
Nah, I think that was just Shohreh being misinformed. I think she will be human because she works with Worthington sr. and isn't he the one supplying the cure?
I´m pretty sure she is human.

I'm pretty sure Shohreh is playing a human character. And me thinks that she will have some dealings with Beast and his mutation.

Speaking of Shohreh, does her character have a very large involvement in the film?
*She has some key scenes, and she is wonderful in the film. One of the incredible things about working on an X-Men movie is you get Academy-Award-level actors playing both lead and supporting roles. The overall caliber of this cast is pretty impressive. I mean, between Ian, Patrick, Hugh, Halle, Kelsey, and Shohreh alone, we have a handful of Oscar nominations (and one win), Tony Awards, Emmy Awards, and plenty of British stage awards. It can actually get a little intimidating to write for these actors.
1.) Speaking of Shohreh, how is she in person? I was a big fan of hers when she was on 24. Amazing actress.
*She’s an incredible actress. And a consummate professional. I think she has one of the best voices I’ve ever heard.
Beautiful woman, tremendous actress, gonna own all her scenes in this film.

Shohreh, I've only seen her act in her brief moments in Excorism of Emily Rose and I was even blown away there. She brought so much to such a minimal role.

The one that got her the Oscar nod. And many people felt she should have won that year.
You saw her in Exorcism of Emily Rose, eh, Bill? I saw that movie two days ago and saw Shohreh as that spiritual person. I thought I'd see her before from somewhere else. Wow, she looked different there. That means she's a great actress. I can't wait to see her in this one.

Here's a few quotes from her stint on '24' I found on IMDb.
Shohreh played Dina Araz.
[Dina has just learned that Behrooz has been taken hostage by Navi]
Dina Araz (http://imdb.com/name/nm0013037/): If you cannot save my son, then I am happy to see the reactors melt down.
Jack Bauer (http://imdb.com/name/nm0000662/): [to Erin Driscoll, while on phone] Did you get that?
Dina Araz (http://imdb.com/name/nm0013037/): [Dina is moving Debbie's dead body while Behrooz watches in shock]
Dina Araz (http://imdb.com/name/nm0013037/): For God's sake, pull yourself together!
Behrooz Araz (http://imdb.com/name/nm1332975/): She didn't know anything. You didn't have to kill her.
Dina Araz (http://imdb.com/name/nm0013037/): Yes, I did. Because you didn't have the courage to kill her yourself.
Behrooz Araz (http://imdb.com/name/nm1332975/): Courage? To poison a girl who did no harm to you at all?
Dina Araz (http://imdb.com/name/nm0013037/): [Dina and Behrooz stop, as they hear a car door close. Dina checks the blinds] Your father's home!
Behrooz Araz (http://imdb.com/name/nm1332975/): [Behrooz watches as Dina grabs a pillow and the gun] What are you doing? She's already dead.
Dina Araz (http://imdb.com/name/nm0013037/): If your father doesn't see a bullet wound, he'll ask questions. Do you want him to know that you tried to help your girlfriend escape? Do you want him to know that you failed him again? Move away!
[Dina fires the gun into the pillow, and leaves a bullet in Debbie, and offers Behrooz the gun]
Dina Araz (http://imdb.com/name/nm0013037/): Take it. Take it. Behrooz, take it. Take it! This has to stop, Behrooz. You are my son and I love you, but I cannot let you destroy everything. Everything we worked so hard to achieve.
Evil much? :D
Oh, geezes, I've GOT to start watching 24 immediately!

Shohreh was so amazing on 24, I was kind of surprised she didn't get a Best Supporting Actress Emmy nomination (same for Famke on Nip/Tuck's final episode). Her voice has such a rich tone.
While I'm happy that she's in X3, it's kind of unfortunate that an actress of Shohreh's calibre can't really find leading roles. She's a visible minority and a woman over 40, double marks of death for female actresses in Hollywood. Oh well, she's going to rock in X3...

I think she's an extremely talented and classy actress. Its a shame she didn't win the Oscar, but its such an achievement that she even got nominated.
For those of you that live in London, UK you might be interested to know that Shohreh is going to appear for a couple of dates in the London West End production of 'Who's Life is it Anyway?', preivously done by Kim Cattrall.

eyebrow - plucking and eyeliner, lips - collagen and lipstick, nose - rhinoplasty (and she has had it done).
Don't get me wrong love the fact that she's in the film and think she's gonna kick arse. Just don't think she looks like the comicbook Rao, Shohreh looks better.
I'm guessing her scenes other then this one with angel may well be with Beast and Leech. I wonder if she's gonna be all motherly protective of Leech like Rao was with Tildie in Astonishing X-Men. Or is she going to be a cold mutant hating *****.

-a disccussion of ethic and the cure with the beast.
-scenes with leech
-and bet you more then anything that mystique will be pretending to be her in a scene in order to discover the origin of the cure.

Iranians are more mistaken for Arabs than anything, so its nice to see Indians thrown in now too, lol. (light sarcasm here) I've loved everything she's been in. She gave me chills for much of 24 - so evil, and to change later... kind of.

I think to mistake someone that's Persian as Arab isn't a huge jump, as many arabs are from Iran (and yes, I'm half middles eastern), but I digress...
As far as Shohreh, she has been amazing in everything I saw her in. She was awesome in Maryam, House of Sand and Fog, and as Terror-Mom in 24.
For X3, she looks like a mean, uptight, prudish scientist more interested in making a discovery than its ramifications.
She's got such a gritty, grainy, smoker's voice, and these really expressive eyes, her and Kelsey are gonna own every scene they're in.

I think, if you're taking the appropriation of Whedon's "gifted" arc directly, Soames should be Angel and I suppose Collosus would be Leech. But I think it's less a direct transition and more 'inspired by' type ide.
Actually, that idea was also borrowed from a District X comic where a mutant secreting an hallucinogenic drug was kept prisoner for a drug lord and sold a new substance that poisoned the streets,

The most interesting thing I'm finding with the tidbits I'm hearing about the new film is that more and more of it seems to be inspired by recent X-menish comics, (those of the past 5/6 years), rather than the historical 'classic' ones.
Alot of the Magneto rallying bits seem to be from Ultimate X-Men arcs, "return of the king" and "the tomorrow people", the aforementioned, "gifted" and District X's "mr m" are cure related, Morrison's now infamous "planet x" has echoes of a wolverine/magneto/phoenix confrontation(s), and I see shades of Frank Tieri's Weapon X with the more obscure mutants and the prison camp etc...
On the same token, mutant prison camps, cures, phoenix's, mutant armies and characters such as Arclight, Leech, Quill (yes the captain britain one), Callisto, Moira and Multiple Man have been around for a LONG time.
In fact there are a lot of Excaliburian era mutants in this film.. (?)
And some Australian X-Men era mutants as well.. (?)
But with that said, in some cases, the modern X-Men stories seem to be a little bit more 'mature' and less sci-fi than the classic ones, so perhaps that's it.

It's not a line from madonna. its the key quote said by Mrs. Robinson in 'The Graduate'

Madonna didn't actually say it, she actually played a loop of Ms. Robinson saying it from the film for her Erotica & Vogue videos.

Maybe it's just me, I found the thread title kind of sexual, if one thinks in depth about it...
You know, Would you like me to cure you. As in, you know.

Thats what were getting at...its a pun on the quote...
'Would you like me to seduce you?'
God can you imagine if Shohreh were to play Ms. Robinson in 'The Graduate' on the stage. She would ROCK!!! as well as be the first non-white actress to play the role.

I think she is a great actress but all I can say is that being Persian myself, there is no mistaking her origin down to her accent when she speaks english.
Isn't that what voice coaches are for? :p
In all honesty, Shohreh probably have an easy time doing accents from that part of the world. I personally don't have a tough time doing regional accents, and I'm from that part of the world.
But even being Indian, Persian, whatever, I doubt it's gonna be a distraction. I suspect there's going to be a lot to pay attention to.

Aghdashloo to play Jesus' aunt in "Nativity"
Tuesday March 21 7:01 AM ET
Shohreh Aghdashloo is in final negotiations to join Keisha Castle-Hughes in "Nativity," which revolves around Virgin Mary before the birth of Christ.
Castle-Hughes ("The Whale Rider") is set as Mary, and Aghdashloo ("House of Sand and Fog") would play her sister Elizabeth, who becomes pregnant with the child that will grow up to be John the Baptist.
The New Line project, to be told with a strong female perspective, will follow Mary and Joseph's life as their love, faith and beliefs are tested. The story incorporates their departure from Nazareth and travel to Bethlehem and includes such biblical figures as King Herod and the three wise men.
Catherine Hardwicke ("thirteen") is directing. Shooting is scheduled to begin May 1 in Morocco and Italy with an eye toward a December 1 release.
Aghdashloo has on deck the features "American Dreamz," "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "The Lake House." On Thursday, she will guest-star on both "Will & Grace" and "ER."

Sister? Elizabeth was her cousin married with the priest Zacharias...
yeah i was wondering about that moi.
Nevertheless, I'm psyched for this Nativitiy project. Shoreh seems to be getting good roles.

Aghdashloo joins New Line's 'Nativity'
Tuesday, March 21 2006, 14:21 UTC - by Daniel Saney
Shohreh Aghdashloo has signed on to play Elizabeth, the older cousin of the virgin Mary and future mother of John the Baptist in New Line's Nativity.
Directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Lords of Dogtown), the movie focuses on Mary and Joseph's lives before the birth of Jesus, chronicling their journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Written by Mike Rich, the script has a feminist slant.
Shooting begins in May in Italy and Morocco.
Aghdashloo (House of Sand and Fog) can next be seen in X-Men: The Last Stand.

And I'm glad to hear about this, especially happy that she's landing more high profile roles. She really deserves it.

I tried watching one ER episode (something about the son of the actress who played Velma running away). I don't know, I switched to another channel. The old ER was better than the new one. The new cast just irks me, for some reason. :o

I did. It's nice to see her take a stab at comedy after all her dramatic roles. It wasn't the funniest guest-starring role, but it was ok.
She could give Karen and run for her money at being the worst assistant ever.

Yeah, I wish they gave her some funnier stuff, but she was pretty decent with what she did get. I kinda wanted to see her and Karen go at it in a crazy catfight. That would have ruled.
So, what happened? Shohreh's character became Karen's personal assistant? Was it a one-episode stuff or did it go on for more than one episode?

I mean, she really may have been putting out the cure under good intentions, you know?

I liked her and felt bad for her when she died (was glad thats how it played out, though)- you could tell she was proud of developing the cure, and she was proud of doing it with Warren II [I liked her yelling for him for some reason]. You could tell she meant well by creating the cure, so like I said, I liked her. Her role was so small though that I don't think you can take too much more than that out of it.
Anyone else as glad as I was to see better known actors in the supporting roles? Especially Trask, because it really felt like he was put there for a bigger role in the future.

I didn't care for her, she just seemed too...cold. I guess I got the impression from Astonishing that she was a kind-hearted who was just trying to improve the lives of less fortunate mutants. I didn't get that feeling from Shohreh.
