The Empire State Building sequence in Peter Jackson's King Kong.
Exhilerating, moving, epic; perfectly directed, acted, shot, scored...
I felt more during that finale than most entire good movies, and Naomi gave the best performance I've ever seen by a lead actress, not to mention what an incredible job Serkis did of making Kong a character rather than just eye candy.

I thought it was good, but drawn out. And this is coming from a person who thinks the ending to RoTK should have been longer.
Don't get me wrong, it was a good scene, but I think the pacing was off.

I don't think ROTK's ending should've been longer; and the ESB sequence should be drawn out. They were holding onto each other for every last second that they could.
I agree that the film has its pacing problems, but the Kong/Ann scenes were indescribeably moving and absolutely perfect, and they easily make up for any flaws that the film has and then some.

Oh no, don't get me wrong, I like the movie and the scene, I had just thought when I saw the movie that it could have been shorter, and was seeing if anybody agreed.
And I just gave ROTK as an example to show I don't mind long endings in general.

Personally, I feel shortening it would've been robbing it of its impact. I loved every subtle touch PJ added to it. I love ROTK more, but I can't think of any scene in particular that was more powerful than the ESB.
And I just gave ROTK as an example to show I don't mind long endings in general.
My mistake, I thought you were referring to me as the person that felt ROTK's ending should've been longer.

The Nightcrawler opening scene in X2.
that sequence is awesome and really well shot (of course i'm a tad biased) i also liked Storm's lightening within the church Kurt is in though it's not amazing-just cool ^_^ erm one of my favourites is in Constantine which i know not most people liked but from an arty point of view there's a shot near the end where he's bleeding and the camara zooms in on his watch and his blood comes down around it like time is finally stopping but time already has to change slightly for him to reach hell-so it kinda represents an irony in some way!

I have four favorite scenes in movies that kinda tie as the best in my opinion.
Now these may not be everybodys but they are mine.
1 Magneto moving a secton on the golden gate bridge to alcatraz island X-Men 3.
2 Boramirs death in Fellowship Of The Ring.
3 Spiderman stopping the train with his webbing in Spiderman 2.
4 The scene where the pirates attack from under water on the Dauntless. Or more easily explained the death march of the skeleton pirates in Pirates Of The Caribbean 1.

LOTR trilogy has so many memorable scenes: the opening sequence telling the history of the ring, the battle of helms deep and minas tirith but theres one scene. Gendalfs fall in Fellowship and everyones reaction when they reach outside the cave is unforgetabble. It gets me everytime.
Another scene is Neo's fight against 100 smiths in reloaded. Blew me away, Keanu was perfect at something for the first time.........KICKING AGENT A$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol, okayt that's enough. Anyway, here's a slightly revised Top 10:
1) Almost Famous - "Tiny Dancer" singalong
2) Aliens - Hudson's last stand.
3) Goodfellas - Billy Batts getting the crap kicked out of him.
4) Fast Times At Ridgemont High - Phoebe Cates' nude scene.
5) True Romance - The Hopper / Walken showdown
6) Pulp Fiction - Jules' interrogation of Brett.
7) The Godfather - The horse's head.
8) One Flew Over The Cukoo's Nest - McMurphy takes the inmates fishing.
9) A Few Good Men - "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!"
10) Batman Returns - The showdown in the sewer at the end.

Pulp Fiction had three really good ones:
- Brett's Interrogation Scene. "Does he look like a b****?"
- Jules and Vincent at the diner. "Get my wallet, it's the one that says Bad Mother****** on it."
- Marcelus Wallace after getting raped. "I'm gonna go medieval on yo ass."
Others that I liked were:
- Predator. "You're one ugly mother******."
- Jackie Brown. When Samuel L. Jackson picks up Chris Tucker from the hotel and kills him.
- Mission: Impossible. When Ethan Hunt finds out the truth.
- Spider-Man 2. When Spider-Man gets his suit back and swings toward Doc Ock at the tower. That is the best scene of the movie.
- True Lies. The ending scene when Arnold and Jamie Lee Curtis do the tango.

The scene where Optimus Prime mashes through the decepticons in cab/truck form, jumps in the air, transforms and starts blasting the remaining standing decepticons left, right and center with his gun -right before his final showdown with Megatron in 'Transformr:The Movie'.
My number 1 movie moment ever.
Right from when he steps off the ship and transforms, till he beats down Megatrons ass.
Nothing compares to that scene for me. Its just something geeky deep down inside.

This debate is almost wholly subjective. People react differently to different films.
Besides, you think one of the best scenes is in Spiderman 2. That's the pot calling the kettle black.

Harrison Ford being chased by the giant bolder in Raiders of the Lost Ark. That scene pretty much sums up and personafies the entire Indiana Jones formula.
Christian Bale spraying Cillian Murphy with Murphy's own fear gas and then appearing to him as a Lord of the Ring style monster in Batman Begins.
Greatest scene ever?!! wow, now that is a heck of choice. I'll just role with what first comes to mind.
I say the scene between Christopher Walken as a mobster and Dennis Hopper as an x-cop in True Romance. Overall, the movie itself is great but there are much better...but that one 7-8 minute scene is so tense, riveting, funny, tragic, well written and acted, that it is almost too good for that movie.

the scene in "Galaxy Quest", where the retarded, Trekkie-like fanboys starts asking stupid fanboy questions to the lead actor of the TV show (Jason Nesmith), and he gets pissed off and screams. It would have been a better scene if they hadn't lifted it from William Shatner's classic appearance on SNL years earlier.

Here's another great music related sequence form my favorite movie:

Along with -
The scene just before the Narrows final fight, where Rachel asks Batman who he really is incase he dies and he answers with the "...Doooooo" line and then glides off - just that whole scene with the awesome score in the background is awesome for me.
