I've always been curious...
Two questions... What is your age and what is your gender?
After answering the poll, if you want, include some other stats, like education, occupation, rough income level, ethnicity, and location.

I'm an 18 year old senior in highschool. I'm on these boards because I love comics, I'm an artist, and always dreamed of working for Marvel. But for one more reason. I see many parrallels(spelled wrong) between my life and different heroes.
I'm like Kyle Rayner, because I figure if I were to ever be a super hero I would be him. I am an artist, so naturally my power would be to make the imaged real (via the lantern ring).
I'm like Spider-Man because I treasure my friends and family, I do what I have to do. I don't picture myself as the strongest, but I'm not the weakest. And I think my will is as strong as Parker's is when he's determined.

It seems a lot of artists are attracted to comics. I mean, I've always known that from these boards, but it really stands out when you set up a survey like this. Should be interesting to see what percentage are when the poll's done.
It's also interesting that so far out of 23 people, 5 of them are genderless. :)

Any chance on getting a mod to merge both threads?
That's a good idea... how?
I think it's interesting that only 8 (so far) are in the high school range, while 39 are adults...
But I KNOW there are more girls than indicated, cause Mara Jane and I (yes I know I set up the silly thing) forgot to vote on gender. So add at least 2 more to the total.

My husband suggested we do that even if it was a girl. :) As much as love Spidey, it would be hard to explain to the in-laws. They've got Pooh on the brain. When you live in Orlando, like I do, it's kinda hard to get excited about anything Disney, even if the in-laws think it's the bee's knees since they live 800 miles away.

Spidey rules
My Freshman year of Highschool (01-02) I bought it around January of '02, since I knew the spidey movie was coming out in a few months. At the time I believe it was around $1.98 to $2.50. And I had taken a class where we learned about the stock market and I knew since that stock is based on merchandising, marvel is known for bleeding any character dry, I went with my gut and invested all of my money on it.
My parents freaked out though :(:down

That means you've been a fan a long time, for one so young...
Curious... when did you get into the comics? Have you read Stan's run? Do YOU think the marriage is ruining Spider-Man? (Dangerous thing to ask a teenage boy, I know...) :cwink:

I read my first Spidey comic when I was in second grade, it was a gift. I was interested, but I was only able to read Tom DeFalco's Ultimate Guide for info. (My comic collection has grown much larger since then)
I haven't read Stan's entire run, but I've read ASM issues 1-40 (his entire run with Ditko, and two Romita issues)
I think the marriage isn't ruining the spider-man mythos at all. I think that splitting mj and peter apart is a...stupid move. If he were to start dating other girls or something, it would feel incredibly forced. Also, we've already SEEN that kind of stuff. No need to repeat what we've already seen.

Good answer. :yay:
If you could get through the Ditko years, I REALLY encourage you to read Stan/Romita. There are several ways to do that without buying individual issues...

I second that
I've read Lee's entire run on spider-man, and Romita's run is definitely a highlight in comic book history.
