Country has some crossover songs, it will be interesting next week. I remember Paris audtioning with a Dixie Chick song and finishing off with a Billie Holiday song. They should all have their finger on the pulse of the music industry and be as diverse as possible. Spice it up keep our attention.

I too think Elliot might be the most in danger. Followed by Ace. Hopefully the more pop, R & B singers will take a page from Chris and make the songs their own.

I mean, all they have to use are the lyrics, and there are some similarities in R & B/Blues and country in terms of subject matter, moreso older R & B or Blues.

Plus, there are several Kenny Rogers songs, for example-"She Believes in Me," "Through the Years" that could easily be R & B.

Whitney Houston took Dolly Parton's song "I Will Always Love You" and made it her own. Same with the group All For One and "I Swear."

You're kidding right? Paris and Mandisa are strong singers and all, but Mandisa can't sing anything normal, she always has to go big, no pun intended, and tonight she sounded horrible. Paris can't sing anything too high or low, she has a mid range voice so she would be ok if it werent for the fact that she has no personality whatsoever and she definitely didn't impress anyone tonight.

Katharine, on the other hand, did pick a strange song, but she sings things like that like it takes no effort. She can belt out notes that Mandisa and Paris can without opening her mouth like she's gonna go all Kirby on the audience. Half the time it doesn't even look like she is singing those.

Like it was said before, she has the total package. Even if you don't think she is the best singer you gotta admit that.

Oh and Chris had a recording contract and career the moment he established himself as the stereotypical "rocker." He actually did good tonight on the country....I was surprised.

Wow, last night sucked. I know a lot of people hate country music, but if you don't, or at least are somewhat open minded to it, watch Nashville Star. The performers on that show are much better at least when it comes to doing the country/southern rock thing.

Okay, that aside... opinions on last night:

Taylor - Awful. Plain and simple. He looked like he had IBS and was trying to hold back his bowel movement. He sounded about the same.

Mandisa - Also bad. She proved that her range is limited to screaming and talking.

Paris - Actually didn't mind her last night. Her performance wasn't anything special, but it wasn't bad either. Still, I turned on Nashville Star later that night and heard another (much prettier, I might add) girl sing the same song 10 times better.

Elliot - FLAT. He was a little better than he usually is, but am I the only one who notices that this guy is consistantly flat week after week?

Ace - Wow, I didn't know there was a George Michael version of that Keith Urban song. Not as bas as usual actually, but mediocre at best.

Kelly - "Cloney Underwood" did a decent job on her song last night, but was I the only one who had a LOT of trouble discerning what she was singing in the verses?

Chris - Not as good as usual, but he still did a pretty good job. One thing though... I like Keith Urban's music, but it probably wasn't a good idea for two different performers to pick a song of his... added to the fact that they picked two very similar ones. Chris would have probably benefited from doing one of his more upbeat songs.

Katherine - Not familiar with the song and I'm not sure I liked it, but she sang it well. She did sell the performance too. And damn, she's hot. SO hot.

Bucky - SUCKY! Everyone figured country was his element. Well, considering he blew when he tried to do Buddy Holly, who was rock-a-billy singer and part of country's roots, I figured Bucky would suck this week and I was right.

Again, IMO, Taylor is a goner. Don't act like AI has always gotten it right in terms of who goes every week. People like Constantine and Nikko from last year went WAY too early. And that's just last year. So Taylor leaving now would be a shock, but these things happens. That's why the show is great. You never know what will happen. You could be hot for two weeks, then have a very off night combined with performing early (in Taylor's case, going first) and the next thing you know you're on a plane ride home. Taylor getting bumped off tonight would not surprise me.

The competition will not suffer and she was not an "amazing" singer. If you have ever heard or known any big girls who sing, they can all belt it out like Mandisa, I know 3 girls like that personally. Just because you can be loud and do a few vocal tricks is hardly "vocal prowess."

I am glad she is gone. After Paris is gone I will finally be satisfied.

I think the after-interviews with the judges say it all....no one should fret over her, she's got it made, but the rest of the singers should take heed in that they're all fairly close in singing talent now....it's more about song choice to woo the crowd.

She is a powerful singer, who generally sang songs that showed off that power and her high wattage personality. Chris has generally done the same thing,regarding vocal power.

His songs generally sounded the same-except for the country performance. Both did what worked, however Mandisa had some trouble with song choice the last two weeks, and Chris was able to switch it up with more success.

Mandisa is a good singer, one of the best in S5. No other female, and many of the men, couldn't match her vocal power. What you might consider 'hollering' or 'screaming', I consider soulful eruptions of emotion and expression.

Paris is also a good singer, though her voice sometimes doesn't have the range for certain types of songs. She also has the best stage presence of any of the remaining contestants, with Chris coming second. She knows what to do on the stage for the most part, to use it to help enhance her performance.

Katherine, who has the looks and a good voice, could take some lessons from Paris in how to move and use her body to bring out the best in her performances. Kellie, who also has the looks, but not the voice, could learn a few things from her too.

I agree with you..Paris is up there with Chris and Taylor. I don't think Mandisa should have gone yet, I really think Kelly should be gone soon. She is just not as good as the judges seem to think.

Mandisa just had a really bad night, and it cost her. Plus, I don't think he is near as good as most of the others, but I personally like Bucky. He should be one of the next to go though. Next weeks "Queen theme night" will probably be his lynch.:(

I disagree. I thought she had a good vocal range and definitely knew how to hold the high notes. And I liked her energy on stage. But AI really goes like that, sometimes you get a lot of praise for a few weeks, than one or two nights you pick the wrong song or your vocals are not at the prime and you´´re gone. Sometimes demographics count, too. I´m sure she and Paris split some votes, it has happened before. If she´s gone, I´m gonna root for Chris.

Soulful eruptions....yea, um but she has problems when it comes to showing anything good outside of her comfort zone. Mandisa and Paris had that problem the other night with the country music because they rely on little voice tricks *cough*elliot*cough* and didn't pick songs they could do them in. They both showed that they can't get a deeper sound to their voice, but unlike Paris, Mandisa could get her voice pretty high. I hardly think that Mandisa was the best singer. She was the best at belting it out, but not the best when it comes to range or performance (Chris would probably win this one for me, Taylor seems to be slackin damnit).

After tonight's performances I would agree. Ace has always sucked, and I think he crossed the line tonight. I kinda figured Chris would end up singin We Will Rock You (it would make sense), but instead Ace made it into a pussy pop song, bleh. Paris's performance was boring, she is on a steady decline, MUHAHAHAHAH!

Bucky was actually entertaining, although we all know he aint that great a singer. Elliot was good tonight too. Kellie just was horrible and looked like she was tryin to be a white Tina Turner, lol (She is easily the worst singer after Ace that is left).
