Actually Elliot could hardly be heard because Mary's mic sounded like it was turned up louder than his, otherwise I would agree with the Elliot performance, but Mandisa didn't come close to stealing any show.

I liked the little awards portion of the show, but damn it was so mean spirited for the most part except for the award that Elliott's mother recieved. That one crazy guy who came out jumping all over the stage & fell off the stage & Kellie Pickler's skits were the funniest bits. I missed most of Clay Aiken serenading that one guy, but I wonder if Clay invited him back to his hotel room or vice versa. Although she didn't win Kat looked & sounded great & Toni Braxton was the hottest woman of the night..

I have a feeling once she makes her own music and actually feels it, she will loosen up on stage instead of looking so awkward. Taylor's voice isn't going to get much better, so his stage presence is a must. But Katharine's voice has so much already and tons of potential, so stage presence is something that can be worked on easily.

Get a grip. Both of these two are sub par. Regardless of who wins, this is the weakest of the American Idol winners. And it's a shame, because I thought the final 12 was collectively the best yet. Taylor should've gone out around 7 or 8, with Kat a couple weeks after that.

Yes the guy who thought he looked and acted like clay aiken came out and started singing. While singing behind him clay came out and everyone went wild and the dork was like pointing to himself like our they chanting for me. Then he slowly turns and seed aiken and he freaking flips out and has a seizure almost falls down and then ryan made him sit down before he hurt himself. It was gold man we taped and my wife and i watched that part back like 12 times. Better than prozac they should show it to people who are depressed.

I loved seeing the Toni Braxton/Taylor Hicks song. He looked like he couldn't believe that he was touching her waist. He freaked out. It was hilarious.:up:

Plus having that kid freak out when Clay came out was great, things like this made the finale totally worth seeing.

I think the show is fine as it is. Seacrest is a great host, but I agree that the Simon/Ryan banter is old now.

I am a big Prince fan, admittedly more of his old stuff than the newer music. However, I think it was a smart move to perform last, by himself, on the final episode of the hyper successful American Idol. Think of the exposure. That sounds pretty smart to me.

Prince wasn't 'begging' anyone to forget him. That sounds more like Michael Jackson to me. IMO, Prince still does his thing in his own way, without trying to act like he's 20 anymore. And I respect that.

Sidenote:

I did think the Toni Braxton/Taylor thing was funny. He seemed scared of her when she vamped it up a little. That couldn't have been me on that stage. It might have been a controversy.

I don't think Toni is a hoochie either. She has been a little liberal in the choice of her outfits over the years, but I think she was just having a little devilish fun with Taylor.
