Exactly. But that shot proves that they did intend to and did at least make a start on it. When I first noticed it, I backed it up thinking maybe it was just the fire that was behind her in the first place, but no way! That is unfinished Phoenix effects, it has to be.

Remember last year (2005) when the X3 crew set up shop in Santa Clarita, California for two months.Well this is what they shot there.

Minature, props and special effects man Clark James posted this on his official website.

Our miniature effects unit was assembled under the supervision of Patrick McClung (True Lies, Armageddon, Dante's Peak, Galaxy Quest, Tuxedo) in order to construct and shoot this 1/12th scale Golden Gate Bridge. Richard Stutsman and his crew worked alongside to create several physical and mechanical effects. With miniatures becoming extinct due to digital breakthroughs, this shoot became a kind of reunion for the old-school boys and girls who hadn't worked together for a while. Some modelmakers on this project date back to the original Star Wars crew. There are literally centuries of experience among this unit, as revealed by the results.

still, i dont think X3 brought half of the "epicness" i expected to find in it. I expected Phoenix to do in San Francisco what the nature did to LA in The Day After Tomorrow. I exepected the entire city to be affected, not only a little island. And i also expected the fire effects :p

X3 could have been more epic, but of it's the more epic of the three films. The first one didn't have anything that made your jaw drop but it was good for an origin movie, and X2 did have that whole Dark Cerebro, but it didn't seem like a real menace because we didn't see the real effects. And the dam thing was good, but not that epic.

In X3 we had Jean's house scene (that was pretty epic to me) and the Golden Gate/Alcatraz thing. Yes, we could have had Phoenix rising from the lake and Phoenix causing havok in San Francisco, but it was great.

For the last GD time. She had BAD TERRIBLE AWFUL direction all three times. Horrible dialoge all three times, and she was the only adult X-men to serve no major purpose to the plot. She was an empty souless token minority that they didn't have the balls to tell the story without.

It was a craptacular part that no one, not Angela, Sophie, Noyna, G. Union, [insert black actress here] could have saved. The results would have been the same. Storm was only a weather tool for Cyclops to bark at, and being pushed around by Wolverine.

Second of all, you apprently haven't seen all of Halle's work. Sure she needs to choose her scripts better, like Mardeson, and yeah not of all it was great. But no actor (except for Gregory Peck) can claim a flawless resume. She has done alot of fantastic work on the big and little screens. Check out her performance in Dorthy D. biopic. There are others I cant think of 4:20 in the morning.

Download a script of X3. Read Storm's part. Then come back and say that it wasn't crap on paper TO START WITH. In fact do the same with the first two x-movies. Maybe then people will take the BS that turns out to be your post seriously.

Like I said before. She was the ONLY adult x-men, to not be a part of any plot unless it was to be barked at by Cyke. She had a crappy part that should had never been in the movies in the first place.

I think Halle's a fine actress. I definetly respect the way she worked herself up in Hollywood: after her modeling career, she worked hard to prove that she wasn't just some model that wanted to act. Her hard work and tentativeness are what got her noticed, and is a testament to her character.

That said, I dislike her attitude after she won the Oscar: I really get this "I am black and won an Oscar, so you owe me"-vibe from her. Also, she didn't do much after winning the Oscar that proves her worthy of one. I agree with britrogue that she was good in Gothika, despite that being a bit of a dumb film, but I think Catwoman really hurt her career.
She always seemed at her best in the smaller movies. Spike Lee (she played in his Jungle Fever) gives her much praise. Maybe she's better at drama than at action.

The reason for the Halle-hatred is probably due to Halle demanding a bigger part, which resulted in her playing a part in the movie that wasn't really hers to play.
I don't dislike the character of Storm in the movies, though I understand it wasn't a fair representation of her comic-counterpart. I liked her the best in X2. She was caring, and had some great scenes (especially the one with Nightcrawler).

So yeah...continue posting and dicussing pics... :p

For the last GD time. She had BAD TERRIBLE AWFUL direction all three times. Horrible dialoge all three times, and she was the only adult X-men to serve no major purpose to the plot. She was an empty souless token minority that they didn't have the balls to tell the story without.

It was a craptacular part that no one, not Angela, Sophie, Noyna, G. Union, [insert black actress here] could have saved. The results would have been the same. Storm was only a weather tool for Cyclops to bark at, and being pushed around by Wolverine.

Whose fault is that...not Halle's.

Well actually I felt Halle had some minor purpose in X2. She was the main teacher educating the students during their tour at the museum, then went with Jean to get Nightcrawler in Boston (wouldn't have been fun if she went alone, guess the story could have been changed to Cyclops going with her if storm wasn't in the story, hey thats a good idea, anyways), and she had that little subplot with Nightcrawler that helped develop Nightcrawlers character, tried to get rid of those attacking planes with her tornadoes, had an "omg" to contribute in the campfire scene, yous aw her weather sorta attack soldiers inside the base right after Mystique got in. Then alot of not so actiony of Storm and Nightcrawler trying to get the children. Then Storm encourging Nightcrawler to have faith (subplot contuing from their little talk on the plane) and they go in and Storm shows some attitude (Proffessor! You need to stop Cerebro NOW!) and she does her little snowstorm in there and its good.

I dunno, theres parts whether Halle Berry delivers the line and it sounds good, and she looks good. But its not all the time. I think some other actresses probably could have been able to do it better, even with the given material seeing a Storm who looked right and had the right voice would have made her small part really shine and thus it could be small but nobody would care because shes so good to hear/watch in what shes in. But yeah it's probably the direction, and Halle Berry could have pulled it off. What's the story with that Walmart Bonus disc? Is that all it is - 50 mins Benind The Scenes? I wonder is it exclusive behind the scenes footage that doesn't appear on R2 disc 2. It says it's a Look at the Evolution of the X-Men franchise but isn't that one of the featurettes on disc 2?

What are you talking about? Storm had very little screen time in X2? If Storm received little screen time, then what did other characters receive? She was just there? As opposed to The Last Stand, in which her character doesn’t even serve a purpose? Storm took two steps back in the latest installment. I agree that she probably wanted a more important role, but her word choice is easily misleading. Saying you would return if “they could give Storm a little bit more to do” is pretty easy to misconstrue. Even the producers have interpreted it as such. Perhaps she was taken out of context though.

To keep on topic, I think this is one of the better pictures of Storm, capturing the look and goddess like maturity/mothering nature of the character.

What has happened to her to make her a defensive angry person? What happened to her? Why was she closer to Nightcrawler than anyone else in the trilogy? [Answer to that is very simple, she had zero character interaction.]

The answer to these questions could have made her a character that was easier to relate to and added an emotional impact to the story that was missing.

Halle's biggest mistake in the series was accepting such a empty worthless part.

I never expected Storm to maintain an overwhelming significance in any particular storyline. She doesn't really in the comic books either. Aside from being the "FX" generating, occasional leader/sidekick who chimes in with words of wisdom, she never plays an integral role in any of the major X-Men arcs (at least not on the level of other characters) . . . Age of Apocalypse, Excutioner's Song, the Cure, the Dark Phoenix Saga, Fatal Attractions, Inferno, the Mutant Massacre, Onslaught, the Phoenix Saga, X-Tinction Agenda, etc . . . Aside from being the helpful team member, none of these arcs require anything significant of Storm. She generally doesn't even get a chance to shine as a leader in the comic books until Cyclops is out of the picture or distracted with child and wife abandonment issues.

And what about her alleged significant relationships with fellow team members such as Jean Grey? We're never even shown any significant girl to girl bonding, indicative of a deep friendship between the two, before Storm starts spouting off about the confidences they've shared. What confidences? When we're these ever hinted at, let alone shown? Given what is actually illustrated, why the two are even close friends is beyond me at times. There's more of a personal relationship depicted between Jean Grey and Misty Knight than there ever was with Storm . . . and then Jean kills herself before more bonding can occur.

Hell, over the span of 30 years, Storm never even had a decent love interest (Akron and Forge were such fair weather fans).

In reality, Storm's “major” arcs are kind of lame and somewhat frivolous, as they typically don’t deal with weighty issues concerning the team or society as a whole. They are generally relegated to goofy scenarios and are hardly given much credence in the source material. Storm is always having to go it alone while being hunted down by Dracula, Dr. Doom, Loki, Sauron, etc. or she is busy being shot by de-powering guns, running from Nanny who wants to revert her to a child, or being chased by the Shadow King and his goofy hounds. I actually find her better and more humanizing moments to be the ones that don’t involve the X-Men . . . the death of her parents, having to fend for herself as a child, almost being raped and being forced to kill her attacker (an experience which subsequently develops her deep seeded credos), watering her plants, etc.

I completely agree. We get the briefest hints as to Storm's personality or character, and then realize there won't be any more. The only thing we can do is to give her the benefit of the doubt, because we just don't get to see much. She's either not in the picture, doesn't get to do something great, or in the case of X3 literally gets shoved aside by Wolverine so that he can save Jean instead, and Storm just shrugs and flies off. A sudden dead-end by FOX doesn't help

In the camping scene, how the heck Magneto was able to levitate a PLASTIC gun? The alternate scene with the mug was stupid, but at least it made more sense.

The way i see is that Jean is the one using her telekinesis. Magneto simply hands the gun to her.

Mags says "i can manipulate the metal in this" so obviously theres some metal in there. They didnt begin the manufacture of fully plastic weapons until beast tips them off later in the deleted scene that we have yet to see yet...
