X-Men 3: The Last Stand (Video Game Update)

Z-Axis used to work on Acclaim's Dave Mirra BMX games until Activision bought them out. You might assume that they'd set them to work on a new Mat Hoffman BMX title, but no - they're hard at work on X-Men 3.

Three is the magic number here, as a trio of superheroes are playable - Iceman, Nightcrawler and Captain Sideburns (Wolverine). Iceman's levels are set against the clock, with the onus on making ice bridges, ice slides and so on to get through a level as quickly as possible. He can also lob projectiles and summon fatal hailstorms. Naturally.

Nightcrawler's bits take inspiration from Prince of Persia, with lots of acrobatic skills coming into play. The blue mutant has got a unique trick up his sleeve though - the ability to 'bamf' (read: teleport) all over the place. How this'll work during battles and such is unclear, but we guess that you'll just hit a button to vanish and reappear somewhere not too far away. We sincerely hope that this trick can be used to rack up huge combos.

This leaves Wolverine to supply the heavy-handed combat with something that Activision are calling a 'Fury Mode'. There's also a 'Mutant Evolution System' (the ability to upgrade skills) and 'Hyberboard Cut-scenes' to look forward to. Their marketing team must have been put into overdrive.

Rather than follow the plot of the film, the story is penned by comic book writer Chris Claremont and explains what happens in the run up to its silver-screen daddy.

It's due out on absolutely everything - even GameCube, as these details are from NGC - this spring. Around the same time as the movie, no doubt.

Jesus Christ there's doubters and complainers on every end! There are too many character or not enough. Give me a break. This game takes place between the events of 2 & 3 so I guess we'll find out what happens to Nightcrawler which is also probably why he's a focal point of the game. X-Axis has always done a good job and you know the other characters will be there for support of some kind.

I'm sure it's just a working title. You know Riddick, Doom, the original Halo, all had only 1 playable character. Halo 2 had 2 playable characters and it was worse than part 1. I understand X-Men is a team but not every member should get focused on in each film or game. Sometimes the other characters have to step back from the light, take a break, or step up. If each character is developed in the game the right way and the missions are long and the details are polished it will be an awesome game.

Hmm... I think they should release it a little before the movie... like even a month, haha. If its a prequel, it should be given enough time to be played before the raging fans, such as ourselves, go to see the movie at the midnight showing.

It sounds like a great idea. I'm not sure about the timed parts - They make me nervous, haha. But I am glad to see more than just Wolverine. Especially Nightcrawler. I just hope he doesn't bite the dust.

Also, I hope that it ties in with the realistic theme of the X-movies.

There is a 99% chance that there will be an X-Men Legends 3 filled to the brim with characters to choose from, so instead of having a duplicate of that game, I like that they have focused on 3 completely different (gameplay wise) mutants and have crafted a deep storyline for those 3, something Legends was unable to do because of it roster size.

In the first game trailer, about 26 or 27 seconds into it, you see Wolverine fighting somewhere, and there's a Sentinel head in the backround. I found this last weekend I think.

I agree,as an avid gamer I think the graphics look rubbish:down:(! Also a game, based on a genre that has so many exciting characters, to only give us three playable ones seems like a waste! If you want to play a good X-men game play X-men Legends II its well worth it! This game seems like just another movie-based game that is only being released to promote the movie and was probably rushed to be released before the movie comes out! It's very common nowadays!

But that is NOT xbox 360's fault. It is the game developr's fault who r making this game. They r not utilizing the power of xbox 360 plain simple.

The truth is any system can have amzing looking games if the devlepor of that game works hard.

ex: GRAW looks absoluetly next-gen graphics and fun to play because ubisoft worked hard.
Elder oblivion 4- beautiful graphics, huge gameplay and very fun because bethesda worked really hard.

Well, these are only screenshots. I thought the video with Deathstrike looked pretty cool. I too wish there were more playable characters. I mean, if this is taking place between X2 and X3, at lease have us experience what each of the main characters are going through. Especially Cyclops, although I am not a big fan of his, he did lose Jean at the end and it would be nice to see what brought him to where he is now in X3. Or at least let us be able to guide him through it.

meh. it's a video game. lot's of things happen in video games. It is interesting to guess how she got better. I would go with the her body purging the adamantium out in a long and painful process. The adamantium skeleton stays put because it's bonded and isn't interfering with her body in any negative way, so there is no need for her body to reject it.

Hell, they probably wont explain it at all, just a comment from wolvie about how he thought he killed her and her saying something like "I'm tougher than you thought".

X-Men III movie game goes mobile


Marvel superheroes return for a third crack at mobile game stardom

You won't be able to escape the X-Men this summer, what with the upcoming X-Men III movie and all manner of tie-ins.

One thing worth looking forward to, though, is the mobile game, sensibly titled X-Men III.

Characters you can play in X-Men III include Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Iceman. On certain handsets, you'll also get to play as Cyclops and Magneto.

Each character has their own special moves – close-combat for Wolverine, teleportation for Nightcrawler, freezing for Iceman and so on. Another key feature is character development; you upgrade the X-Men's powers as you progress through the game's eight different stages.

Enemies include Pyro, Lady Deathstrike, Silver Samurai and Master Mold – and no, we didn't make that last one up.

The storyline has been written by movie scriptwriter Chris Claremont. Intriguingly, it's set before and after the movie, rather than trying to replicate its plot.

Because it's a Iceman, Nightcrawler, Wolverine game who's characters are the focus of this story tie into X3. Would you rather have 10 playable charcters and no focus and a lousy game or an awesome game where the designers spent lots of time and attention to detail on the story and chracters.

HEY YOU GUYSs!
theres been a new preview on the enemies, with SILVER samurai voiced by tom cruise, Multiple man, magneto, and Jason Little as in Stryker's last name was Little i guess. A video of silver too, with wolverine jumping on him, looks fontostic. ITs on IGN, YAHAHAH MUI! MUI!

Multiple's concept art bugs me but i like the final model Yes!
