Chyeah. She got me all hyped up for a kickass sequel, and I'll be so depressed if none of this speculation is in it. :(

Ever see Vidocq? That movie wasn't all bad. :o

Anyway, here's the full post on the whole SHII movie based on the SHII game.

I love Pyramid Head A LOT (in fact, he may even be in my next sig I love him so much ^.^ ), and while I would have been dumbly happy seeing him in every other scene in the movie, I was happy with his two scenes and the footage of him in the credits. Featuring him too much in THIS movie's story would have been overkill, and definitely would have spoiled the big fans. Not to mention, it would have been confusing to the people seeing it in the movie. There's really no REASON for P. Head to be chasing Rose too much. He was there once in the School to just show "Holy ****, this guy's a HUGE threat!" and then again outside the church to show Dahlia doing the bewitching sign to Anna, and the consequence of both Dahlia invoking the devil (that's what that hand signal means, in a lot of superstitions, not just in The Order) and Anna's transgression. His original meaning is to symbolize the guilt James Sunderland felt for murdering his wife, and also James's ideal vision of himself. Pyramid had a huge sword (phallic), ran around raping monsters (James was sexually repressed because of his wife's sickness and death) and continually penetrated Maria (a sexed-up version of his wife) with his weaponry. He's also seen by Walter Sullivan. He has no real place in the story of mother and daugher that the Silent Hill movie has...but if they do have the SH2 storyline in the second movie, then it's possible that he will be continually tormenting Sean Bean's version of James, then he could perhaps appear much much more as a symbol of guilt for not doing more to look for his wife and daughter.

Yeah, I thought part 2's story was clever. The intermingling with other people's torments was cool.

I never really thought it looked like he was actually raping those mannequins in the second one, despite that being a popular interpretation. His groin is nowhere near them in that infamous scene, and besides, how do you rape mannequins?

An observation from someone at another forum:

If joo are a fan of SH2 and have seen the moofie give that a read. Or if you just want to read something hidden by spoiler bars go right ahead. It's not spoilerific, and what's underneath this line is probably worse.

She also went on to say how they should use the SHII storyline in a sequel where Sean Bean goes to search for answers and then Pyramid Head will play a bigger role and whatnot.

Silent Hill 2 game spoilers and movie spoilers

Chris was never timid with the cop. He was yelling even at the ****ing bridge. He never yells at any women in the movie either, even when dealing with Rose on the phone. Also, James never yelled at any women in the games, but DID get frustrated and throw down with Eddie. Basically, that observation is total crap from both sides.

Considering he was seen doing it a few times. It's obviosu he was raping them:o You forgot the nurses.

And...how is it possible?

....have you...seen half the **** in SH?

I just played through the game a couple of weeks ago in preparation for the movie, and I only remember one scene where Pyramid Head was flinging the mannequins around; nothing with nurses...

So i saw this tonight and I thought it was good with some fantastic imagery and a great sense of atmosphere which these movies often lack, Gans is very good at this aspect IMO.

I thought Radha Mitchell did a good job in spite of some unrealistic writing for her character, but the ending (In which she again seemed unperturbed) made me wonder if there was meant to be a sequel, what was the deal ? (Ive never played the game.)

this movie had some amazing looking scenes
its just too bad that even though the deisgn wasnt conventional that the story had to be
i wonder if there are any fan edits of the movie out there

Every game is similar to that of Grand Theft Auto, pretty much in name only with each sequel despite a few linking concepts (in GTA, the crime, in Silent Hill, the town and darkness), and each game shows different characters trying to get out of the town and how much of a toll it's taking on them.

Last I heard there is going to be a sequel, Gans will not be involved and it will be a different character as Rhada hasn't signed on for a sequel, I believe. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

In terms of seeing what's happened to her character, however, they could release a short movie or a book or comic about how her character is dealing and how she's spread Silent Hill further.

I loved Rhada in the film, not only since she's a fellow Aussie, but she put in a great performance. But I don't mind if the sequel didn't focus on her character and introduced a new character, but do not focus on Sean Bean's character.

Sean Bean's role actually was smaller in the original draft of the film if memory serves correct and somewhere along the process the character became a central subplot.

guitarsingerguy

I think Sean Bean's character would be great for the sequel. It could easily borrow the Silent Hill 2 plot and easily make for a much superior movie even though I really liked the first. Even if they move on to someone else, I'd like to see Sean Bean's character come back at some point.

Roger Avary Directing 'Silent Hill 2'?

Some pretty huge news has been hiding in an interview with author Brett Easton Ellis for nearly a month now over at Chuck Palahniuk.net (http://chuckpalahniuk.net/interviews/authors/bret-easton-ellis-2). During the chat about The Informers, interviewer "Dennis" asks Ellis if Roger Avary is still attached to direct Glamorama. His reply is shocking. "He’s going to be shooting Silent Hill 2 (http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/film/1539). As far as 'Glamorama', it’s just very hard to get the money to make it." It's never mentioned again, but that's enough to get me excited. Roger Avary wrote the first Silent Hill, Pulp Fiction and directed the awesome Rules of Attraction. This news couldn't be more exciting! Your thoughts? Where should they take the sequel if it ever gets off the ground?

I'm pretty happy about this, if it does indeed turn out to be true.

Didn't really like the first film, but I can see why fans of the game enjoyed it. I love the hell out of the game, it was one of the first 'PS1' games I ever bought and played (and ultimately completed, only difficulty being that f'n piano in the school). But I (personally) never really thought the film was such a faithful transfer of the game itself, which is why I always question people considering it to be the best video game adaption (so far) ever made.

I haven't tried any of the sequels yet (played a demo of 'Silent Hill 4: The Room', and I believe another demo of 'Silent Hill 3', but that was about it), so maybe that'll play into effect with this (potential) sequel. So... here's to hoping for the best to come.
