Those little shots are supposedly from either storyboards, or pre-vis that Alan Horn used to create....pretty much scenes written directly for the film. I hope the movie looks that bright and eye-catching.

Wow, cool find. He looks like Christopher Reeve in a couple of those. It's funny, the art makes him look so much older, expecially that one on the back of him with the classic hands on the hips pose.

Because Horn has no real life constraints when drawing Supes. He is free to make it more like the comics.
It does make me wish thats the kind of muscle definition we had in the suit though.

Horn's art is great, don't get me wrong, but this calendar annoys me so very much. Harry Potter. Star Wars. They get actual stills from the movies in their calendars. What do we get, promotional and licensing art. Don't get me wrong, Horn's art is great, but I wanted stills damn it.

Macho? I'm not even saying it to sound macho. Wheres the sense in that? All i'm saying is that quoting an image is the same as quoting art in the art thread. It's the same exact thing. An image you like simply quote it and comment on it. I always do that. Solid saying to stop is silly, it's done all the time.

In a recent interview with Wizard magazine, Kate Bosworth state that she indeed had a figure that will be part of the set, along with the Barbie doll. I hppe this is true, cause I think that that was BB's biggest mistake: not adding any supporting characters.

I wish they'd sculpt Superman like he really is (a guy wearing a tight suit) rather than adding all that definition and making him look like a painted naked guy.
I know people actually wanted the suit to look like that but it looks silly. Anyway, high-end statues like this should replicate the way he looks in the movie as much as possible, rather than embellishing them with invented detail. I want a miniature replica of Brandon Routh as Superman, not someone's idealized version.

(1) The color of Superman's suit is too Damn Dark.
(2) The \s/ on the chest is to damn smalll .
(1) The color of Superman's suit is too Damn Dark.
Correction: The suit is actually brighter than the version you will find in the comics today.
In today's comics, the blue is dark, while the red is bright. In the movie, the red is dark and the blue is bright.
Since the blue is the largest amount of colour on the costume, this means now there is more bright colour on the movie suit than the comic's suit.
As for the S being small, it looks just as big as Neal Adams drew it to me.

Hmmm Smaller Raised \S/ on the chest of the one doing the Superman #1 pose....does that mean hes Superboy?? Hell no, that IS Superman in one of his many incarnations.
Secondly I dont ever remember 'Superboy' wearing darker colors. He always wore flamboyantly bright colors.... so the crimson on the SR suit doesnt prove anything.
Neal Adams used a small \S/. I don't see how a costume makes Routh 'Superboy', as to be a boy Routh needs to look young.
And he looks his age or older, which is good. Hes certainly not a boy.
Cinemaman
02-13-2006, 07:35 AM
I think Routh is quite enough look like Superman.
And your right about Neal Adams. It actually looks great, I prefer it to the larger \S/. This looks neater and sleeker.

GUYS,
Calm down...
You have to remember that most of these images (toys) are the prototypes or mock-ups (look at the seams & color-chipping) the colors etc WILL vary once they hit the shelves in a few months... some of them are even photos of what the toys MAY look like... besides the lighting conditions are never the best on the convention floor!
Also many toys are based on events of the movie, but far more are simply made up stuff... we all know Batman in BB only had ONE bat-suit, but the toy line reflected almost 8 variations of the costume and gimicks... keep that in mind when trying to piece the 'story-line' for SR from these toys...

I've not read through the previous posts in this thread, so if I say what someone else has already said, then I apologise :)
When the toys for Batman begins appeared I was impressed, I was impressed by the quality and I was happy to hand over my hard earned cash when my kids began asking for "Batman this" and "Batman that"...
I hated the Hulk film, but I thought the toys that were bought out along with the film were pretty good (infact i've seen many a battle in the kids room where the hulk has taken on Batman in the Batmobile... Hulk loses of course)..
So with the advent of Supermans return to the big screen I had high hopes for the toy line.
Big mistake.
Am I the only one here that thinks that the images we've seen so far are a huge let down? I sincerely hope the images are prototype shots and that we can expect a better finished product because frankly boys and girls the stuff we're seeing is total crap (except perhaps for the excellent DC direct painted statue line.. But they're not exactly toys are they?)

Nah. Few toy lines based off superhero movies has some toys of characters that were never in the movie. Like the F4. Their upcoming lines will have the Doombots, Annihlus, etc. & none of those characters were in the movie. Also, look at Superman's costume on the pic. It not based on the movie. Surely it from the comic book, judging the colors & size of the :supes:. ;)

Nah. Few toy lines based off superhero movies has some toys of characters that were never in the movie. Like the F4. Their upcoming lines will have the Doombots, Annihlus, etc. & none of those characters were in the movie. Also, look at Superman's costume on the pic. It not based on the movie. Surely it from the comic book, judging the colors & size of the :supes:. ;)
That's true.

I for one think (just like the Batman Begins figures) that these figures are nothing compared to what DC Direct COULD do. BUT I do think that mattle has landed some basic superman figures and I indeed will pic some up. Not to forget that I'm sure Mattel will make a Collecters Exclusive figure JUST like they did with batman begins.

TO me this one is perfect, he has good detail and the he has ball joint shoulders. I like it.
Concerning the image above of Supes surrounded by flames - Okay, it could be something else entirely, but I always had a vision that in this film, we'll see Supes flying so fast, a kind of air friction would build up around him, causing flames like that (in the upper atmosphere).
I think that would be a really, really great way of portraying his immense speed, and something we haven't seen before.
Mind you, it could be something else entirely that the action figure is based around. But what I've just described is something I've always wanted to see.

I believe we probably will get this. Supes bursting into flames entering the Earth is like the same way the NASA spaceship is when it reach the Earth's atmosphere. I think we even see a little hint of the flame in the teaser. The one at the end where he flew fast through Earth. You could see what look like little flames as soon he flew through.

But he also can fly so fast to have a flame around him to destroy NK.
Remember the scene in the matrix 3, when Smith and Neo falls, it damaged buidings.
And I think Superman wil use it wigh more big power to destroy this continent.

Although I imagine most of you would have seen this its pretty new to me and I havent seen anything on here about it. (sorry if its been posted).
I know this isnt the products section, but i think this toy has to have something to do with the story. If my eyes dont decieve me, its a black Lex Luthor with dreadlocks.
http://photos.superherotimes.com/showphoto.php?photo=8563&cat=1040
Now we know that toy companies go nuts and make a hundred variations of every character that just sit on shelves (lava battle damaged Batman), but what the crap is up with this? Does Lex disguise himself as a black man at some point? I have no idea.... I'm just looking for some kind of info here (even if you just tell me that i'm seeing things).

I was thinking that too, but the sculpt on the face sure looks like spacey, and he's obviously a villain (big kryptonite gun)... its odd. Maybe its just a generic henchman toy that they used a painted Luthor head for just because its a mock up.
