I've been following Nextwave. I'm digging it but not as much as I thought I would, dunno why. between Ellis and Immonen and that awesome tagline, I had VERY high expectations.

Well, I should have done the same thing. I'm not a fan of Pulp Fiction, I don't get the cult following it has and I don't really "get" the film itself. I guess I've never been a fan of Tarantino in the first place. lol. The Little Mermaid is awesome though...:up:

OMG. Are you my twin? Yeah, I thought Vol. 1 was so much better than Vol. 2. No offense to others, but Vol. 2 was kinda a yawnfest. The ending took forever!

I just read in the new Fangoria that during some turbulence, a guy falls on the floor and a woman stumbles over him, her stiletto heel rams into his ear, puncturing his ear drum and blood gushes out.

It’s the uber-hyped movie (http://latinoreview.com/filmreview.php?id=103#) of the summer, just in time for the season to end. A film by David Ellis (Final Destination 2, Cellular), Snakes on a Plane (http://www.latinoreview.com/filmpreview.php?id=154) is an unbelievably bad, yet entertaining-as-all-hell, horror-action picture that lets loose a million and one clichés in the genres in about 100 minutes or less. Starring the one and only, Samuel L. Jackson, Snakes is the story of a witness to a mob slaying (Nathan Phillips) who must be kept alive to ensure the conviction of crime lord Eddie Kim (Byron Lawson (http://latinoreview.com/filmreview.php?id=103#)). Along the way, our witness happens across the protection of Nelville Flynn (Jackson) and his partner. Immediately, we are thrust into the action, as Flynn, his partner, and the witness take a flight out of Hawaii to Los Angeles. Kim is no more than five minutes away and about to unleash the mother of all snake traps in cinematic history.
Things happen so fast, the very demographic of the young, college-aged male is going to have a few questions during the movie. For instance, why does Kim disappear after the first ten minutes? How did all those snakes get on the plane? Why does Rachel Blanchard look like Sunny Mabrey’s twin? It was stuff like that nagged on my brain, but not for long. After all, this is a movie that packs the most amounts of CGI snakes I have ever seen. Not since Raiders of the Lost Ark (http://latinoreview.com/filmreview.php?id=103#) will an audience be subjected to every type of snake in the species.
There’s even a nice little subplot involving Flynn’s federal agent friend (Bobby Cannavale), who is doing his best to sound and act like Vin Diesel. Cannavale goes after the snake wrangler, the anti-venom, and succeeds in stretching out the running (http://latinoreview.com/filmreview.php?id=103#) time. I was a little disappointed that Kim isn’t the main bad guy, but rather that of an anaconda that shows up and does justice to a rather annoying English guy. However, I had a few gripes about the snakes themselves.
The filmmakers went out of their way to show the snakes, from the anacondas to the rattlers. Unfortunately, they come and go so quick, you don’t really get to see any true showdowns between the characters. The pacing was just off, maybe as much as a mile, at times. Maybe plot holes don’t matter in this over glorified B-movie.
I guess I would be spoiling too much by talking about how they deal with all those snakes, but suffice it to say that an actor (http://latinoreview.com/filmreview.php?id=103#) from Good Burger knows how to fly the plane just in time to keep the survivors from flying away to their watery deaths.
Despite all the holes, bad acting, and mother loads of CGI and stereotypes, Snakes on the Plane (http://www.latinoreview.com/filmpreview.php?id=154) is that bad movie that entertains just enough to be passable. It’s not cinema, and it’s barely a real movie, but I’ll be damned if I didn’t say that I laughed out loud at some of the stuff that Ellis and crew put on screen. I came into the movie expecting a fun - yet horrible movie. I was however shocked - it wasn't a horrible film. While not a great film by any means - it is a fairly good movie that was certainly one of the best "horror" films I have seen in several years. It made me cringe when I should of cringed, laugh when I should of laughed and made manly noises when I should make manly noises (normally when SLJ found some new way to kill a snake).

It was a great movie experience.

Just got back from seeing SOAP.

I really enjoyed the movie quite a bit. I'd say that it wasn't as good as "Slither", but still a cheesy but very solid film. The theater crowd was great, but I wished I could have actually heard SLJ say the famous line. Right when he started it everyone yelled so loud that I couldn't hear it. Other than that it was a really fun movie that showed just how many places a snake can bite a person.

Lol- like what? POTC2 was a major dissapointment- not fun at all, in my opinion. Talledega was good, but not as funny.

To me the best films of the summer were SR (not a popcorn film, but imo- a great drama), Clerks II and Snakes on a motha fckin' Plane.

The ONLY movies that ever caused a crowd reaction this summer: Clerks II & Snakes on a Plane. And I go to, more or less, 80% or more that come out.

It was meant to be a comedy/spoof and it is- why else do you cast alot of comedians for this movie? That's a dead give away that it's meant to be funny. Final Destination 2- not a great movie. But, personally, I really really liked 'Cellular'. On this movie, it was meant to be the way it is- spoof/comedy, as noted before- why else would you cast some comedians?

Intentionally made to cause a reaction. Ellis definitely pulled through. The film had alot of comedians cast in it. When you cast comedians in horror movies like this- it reads spoof. Amazingly enough, it was one of the best comedies (alongside Clerks II) of the summer.

I liked Cellular, was a nice little flick. I used to watch it whenever I was bored, it's just one of those movies you can put on and watch anytime in any mood. Plus, Statham as a dirty cop is awesome, though there's no way he'd get owned like he did, haha.
