Plot Summary: Deep underground, the Minimoys are waiting... for a champion. Arthur's grandfather disappeared four years ago. All he left behind are his notebooks full of stories about little -- known African tribes—including the Minimoys, a miniature people who are all less than one inch tall. But the Minimoys can't possibly be real... can they?

Arthur is about to find out, as he uncovers a hidden message that catapults him on an adventure wilder than he had ever imagined. In just three days, he must find a way to the land of the Minimoys, recover a stolen treasure, battle an invading force of mosquito -- riding warriors, defeat an evil wizard, win the heart of a very independent princess (Madonna)—and somehow get back home again.

It seems like an impossible task, but as he'll discover along the way, sometimes the littlest heroes can make the biggest difference.

The film is adapted from a series of children's books written by Luc Besson.

Hmmm, I had no idea Luc Besson wrote children's books. I pretty much love all the man's work, so I'll see it.

Farrow inks to star in Besson's 'Arthur'
Helmer subbing Normandy for NY in 3-D kid pic

By ALISON JAMES

In his first time behind the camera since 1999, Luc Besson has started directing Mia Farrow and "Finding Neverland" star Freddie Highmore in his 3D and live action English-lingo kid's feature "Arthur."
Shooting began in Normandy Monday at an imitation American-style house, and will continue through to July. French countryside is meant to rep New York state.

Highmore plays Arthur, a little boy who turns to the help of the pixie-like Minimoys to help save his grandfather's house. Farrow plays his mum. Madonna, David Bowie and Snoop Dogg provide voices for the animated characters.

Two years in the making and with a Cannes 2006 delivery date penciled in, the pic is budgeted at e65 million.

An adaptation of successful kids books penned by Besson, it also reps EuropaCorp's first foray into the Hollywood-dominated world of big budget 3D animation.

The first "Arthur" tome was just released Stateside by Harper Collins.

"It is an extremely important project for us," Besson's Europacorp partner Pierre Ange Le Pogam told Variety Thursday. Exec said a couple of U.S. distributors have expressed an interest in the project during Cannes. Buyers will see the first footage of pic in Paris next month.

"It is an exceptional film because this is the first time a real director is putting his signature on an ambitious

Besson is definitely one of my favorite directors so I'm also glad that he's at least doing something. After reading the plot summary, oddly the things that came to mind were Jumanji, Narnia, and Stuart Little.

Saw it today and didn't really like it.
Why were there so many ass shots in this movie?
Anyway,I liked the Princess (Madonna) she was adorable and loved to watch her fight.
It had a feel of Fraggle Rock,Matrix and a dash of Star Wars. 6/10

They were all really cute and it had its moments, just not enough.
