I was trying to make an example. Spider-Man also morphs into a gigantic spider with 4 arms in the comics. Sony is not making SM3 exactly like the comics. They are swaying from the comics to be more realistic and relate it to today's world. Spider-Man's first costume also had wing like webs. Did Raimi use that no. Just because the overall photo is dark and black could symbolize many things like the one I mentioned. And no, that is not the stupidest thing ever said because you just topped what I said.
The official site say's, in big letters, BLACK COSTUME

It's like you're having trouble thinking of ways to support your "Venom's not in the movie" idea.

The ONLY time he EVER wore the black costume was 1) when he had the symbiote, 2) the spandex one he wore to resemble the symbiote. Your argument is that he wears this b/c someone close to him dies, that is the dumbest thing i have heard on these boards. Im not saying someone wont pass in this movie, but face it bud, the symbiote is in this movie in some form or another.

No s*** sherlock. I was trying to show an example of symbolization. Of course he doesn't wear a black suit to go to a funeral. This photo is dark and rainy to symbolize that SM3 will be much darker than the previous 2.

I'm a huge Batman fan too, he's my favorite but I don't see that Spiderman poster having a Batman feel to it at all. Just a darker tone for Spiderman.

Darker does usally mean Batman-esque.

No one knows who Toper Grace is playing. So no, he has not yet been cast as Venom.

C'mon..........c'mon............

Its not batman-esque, its just dark, give the chance to other heroes to be dark

Can't do that.....especially for a character like Spidey. "dark" is tough for me to accept with Spidey, especially with the last 2 films.

Depp's painfully overrated.

And I think him to be the second best actor ever, so figure that out.

Yeah, Depp is slightly overrated in my book......but he's good. It's just he so damn popular.

No i think youre mistaking. Im gonna say Venom will most likely appear in this film, probably near the end. You really dont have alot of refrences to show that Venom doesnt appear in the film. The symbiote is paralled with Brock wayyyyyy more than it is with Parker. If the symbiote is intoduced you can rest assure itll be attaching to Brock.

I say it is the symbiote. The symbiote conforms to what Peter sees in his mind as the costume, distorting it slightly. In the comics, he wore skin tight spandex. In the movies, same deal with raised webbing. The symbiote is conforming to that image in Peter's head.

Kirsten "confirmed" it, but we have seen too many people say that it doesn't mean anything. Sony has yet to say anything. I have also yet to hear them say he's wearing the symbiote, but this image confirms it.

And yes, I believe VENOM is going to be in the movie, not just Brock.

You just contradicted yourself by saying that Grace becomes evil at the end of the movie (which I believe it was near when Church said it, without saying who the villain was). That, in itself, says that Venom is going to be in this movie. Get over it.

Topher is playing Brock.
Topher becomes Venom.
Topher becomes Hob-Goblin.
Topher becomes Chameleon.
Topher becomes [enter supervillain name].

There is a lot of supposition that Grace is playing Brock/Venom, but nothing substantial.

No they didn't, and you need glasses. It's clear as day a building. All you did was outline the building and outline the windows, and not very good I might add.

We already went over all this with the window at the end of Spider-Man 2. There is nothing in his eye but a nearby building, and you can see the windows and everything clear as day. IF they were to put something in the eye, they would only do it if they wanted you to see it. If they wanted you to see it, then it would be very ovious. It's not, therefore the logical conclusion is that there is nothing in the eye.

Okay let's get off the reflection in his eye discussion!

The symbiote was stupid in the comics. I want to see Venom of the screen as much as anyone but if they do it right. Make a toxin or something like they did to create the GG. An alien is too farfetched for my tastes. All of the bad guys got their powers over some freak scientific experiment as well as Sandman is suppose to get his. Not from a creature from another world. I will be all for a symbiote if he is created in a lab and not riding a meteor from another planet to get to earth.

Because a black and white pic looks dramatic, and, yes, a little emo (the kids go for that). It's an early promotional thing to get people interested, and what better way than to imply that something dark is going to happen? There are plenty of reasons for him to be sulking. The symbiote made him irrational, and he ended up hurting those close to him. While the symbiote was attached to Parker, it was a dark time,hence the mood of this poster.And i dont even need to mention the symbiote created one of he greatest foes.

Because here is why. Spider-Man 1 was a gigantic headstart. We are getting 6 Spider-Man movies, and I personally predict a Venom/Carnage spin off movie. We have to consider the other possiblity that 10 years after Spider-Man 6 comes out we very well might get a Spider-Girl movie. I would not be surprised at all if that spin off got 3 movies. Tobey could be a supporting character as her father. they could borrow some story ideas from the original Amazing Spider-Man which never made it to the big screen during the Spider-Man movies. They could make it good.

How much did the first X-Men movie make? How much did Batman Begins make? Now Supers, X-3, are both going to have to compete with each other as well as Ghost Rider.

I didnt say you were like people analyzing the eye God knows there in a class all their own. I'm just saying that Sony confirmed hes wearing a black suit. I totally understand what you are saying but who really knows. Sony could have a number of reasons behind that photo. It could be symbiote and it could be symbolization. No one knows. I was just stating my opinion on what it could symbolize and some ppl immediately attacked my throat trying to push their viewpoint and saying mine was dumb. Batman has probably made more money than the Spidey franchise......Batman has had 4 films before BEGINS......5 if your getting technical. In total, 6 films. Superman has had 4 or 5......and you know it'll be huge this year. X-MEN is STILL a heavy weight.....and most "people" don't know who Singer even is....so they might expect the same quality of film as the last 2 films.......

Yeah. My guess is that they wanted to stir up excitement by confirming that Spidey will don a black suit (thereby strongly suggesting that Venom will appear), but they weren't ready to reveal the exact black suit we'll see in the movie, so they darkened a pic of the regular suit to whet our appetites.

I have seen the Spider-Man verses Batman argument! Batman is a mratial arts expert. I have studied martial arts, and met many people who are masters. I have seen martial artists compete on Ultimate Fighting. In reality in real life a martial arts master can not take a bunch of people with guns, nor can he take on a guy with super human incredible strenght, and speed who can just jump down on top of you from the sky.

A martial artists is completely unable to take on an opponent with a spider-sense which helps you see every punch before it's coming. It would also prevent you from sneaking around in the shadows which is Batman's main style of fighting.

But many of the X-Men could in fact whip spider-man, and of course SuperMan could take Spider-Man. I don't want to hear about Batman beating SuperMan with kryptonite, because a fat old lady with a walker couild take SuperMan with kryptonite. She could not take Spider-Man.

Dude it's a building. I can see the windows as plain as I can see the words I am typing. They would never make a mask that looks like a building with windows, or could even be mistaken for one. the lines aren't perfectly straight because the reflection is distorted by the shape of Spider-Man's eye.

I find the idea that that is Venom laugh-out-loud funny. For that to be Venom's face, he'd have to be sitting next to Spidey, hanging his head down in the exact same postion. As Spidey is perched on a rooftop CORNER, that would be quite a feat indeed. Does Venom have the ability to levitate now....?

The last time I saw this much frantic theory-searching was during the OJ trial. Good god.

I'm pretty sure that an all black spidey outfit wouldn't work for several reasons. Almost impossible to shoot dark scenes with for one. And it just wouldn't of looks right (see superman returns). Now for superman, it looks ok, since its a few different colors. But in spidey's case, it wouldnt of came off right.

Ok, can someone please fill me in between the difference of Spiderman wearing a black suit and Spiderman wearing THE black suit. Is there some difference between the black suit and the symbiote? Does Spiderman just decide to wear a black suit at one point and at another point he wears the symbiote black suit?

You may very well be right, but might I caution you on trying to use the laws of physics for what's in his eye?

Do a search for the Spidey 2 poster on Google. You'll see the SAME image of Doc Ock on a rooftop in Spidey's eyes, despite the fact there's 3 posters with him in different angles and elevations.

Again, you may be right, but I wouldn't be so dismissive since they've used this trick before. That really goes for everyone.

That would be stupid to think that it's not the actual suit he will wear in the movie because it says right in the heading that he is wearing a black suit. That would be like WB showing a new Batman suit in a teaser poster but it not really being the actual suit he wears in the movie.

Yeah but the heading for the picture says Spiderman is WEARING a black suit with that picture underneath. Black Suit eh. So Mary Janes EX goes to Space brings back the thingy (project funded by Oscorp). & then Space Ship crashes into Earth. Spider-Man saves the Pilot & while this all happens the Space Thingy gets onto Peter.

Can you give me the reason why he fashioned a suit like the symbiote. Like timeline wise? Reason for doing it. Sorry I just don't know the difference or the storyline of it.
After he got rid of the symbiote, I'm not sure why he didn't go back to his old duds. I think he just liked it better. Of course, the reason he ended up getting rid of the black suit finally (I believe) is that MJ couldn't stand it after Venom attacked her. But this was all after he had worn the symbiote and gotten rid of it.

If spidey had an all black suit in the movie,then he would probably look like a regular guy in a ski mask and regular black clothes.At least this suit,it makes him look like the black spider-man.

You may very well be right, but might I caution you on trying to use the laws of physics for what's in his eye?

Do a search for the Spidey 2 poster on Google. You'll see the SAME image of Doc Ock on a rooftop in Spidey's eyes, despite the fact there's 3 posters with him in different angles and elevations.

Again, you may be right, but I wouldn't be so dismissive since they've used this trick before. That really goes for everyone.

True; however the laws of physics still do hold true as well.

Spidey is sitting crouched, with his head hanging down parallel with the ground. Now were we to see Venom [or anyone] reflected in the eye now, it stands to reason that that reflection would be vertical.

But this "reflection" is horizontal, as if Spidey is sitting there with his head down, and "Venom" is next to him with his head also hanging down, in the exact same position.

The problem is, Spidey is perched on a rooftop *corner*. Venom would have to be hanging in space to mimic his posture.

This is why I say that is a reflection of the webbing on his arm. That, and the fact that the image is composed of tiny squares.

In S-M 2 artwork Spidey was vertical, and so was the image of Doc Ock. It therefore made sense. This here does not make sense.
