Hey, pretty cool image right there! Like everyone, i'm wondering if the suit is actually that colour, or it's just a B+W image. The suit colours seem to fit in with those of the building and the sky in the background, so i'd probably go with the B+W image option.

And that's totally the Goblin in the eyepiece!

(except, of course, it would mean that for some inexplicable reason, the Goblin is standing/flying/whatever horizontally. Which doesn't really make much sense, does it?

Well, I love the image. It's moody and dramatic, and the rain is brilliant.

I really hope this is the costume design for the home-made symbiote costume Peter wears, after getting rid of the real symbiote.

I don't think this is the full realisation of what the true symbiote looks like, heck, they probably haven't refined or started any symbiote effects yet, and they certainly wouldn't release them with so long to go.

The main thing Sony wanted to do was to add more fire to the rumours of Venom appearing in the film, and they have succeeded.


The whole spider-man franchise is built on marketing. They release some photoshop picture and people go nuts.

Why would it have to be clear exactly? Nobody's made *that* clear to me. Artists have always done subtle little details that you only find when you're looking for it.

People are just getting up in their *******y "Anti-conspiracy theory" mood that makes them feel so smart. There isn't any real reflection in the eyepiece, it has to be photoshopped on regardless. So whoever was doing it thought they'd play with us. I don't see why it's so hard to believe.

The rest of the eyepiece has some swirly detail which doesn't follow any pattern. The goblin mask is really distinct if you'd see past your own ego for a second.

Not really. Doesn't confirm anything since the Daily Bugle is not a reliable news source. Sony could be putting this stuff out under the "Daily Bugle" news headings just to spark up some hype. They could have done the same thing with the Sandman pic also, but they later confirm that... and plus that sandman picture was also looked liek a shot from the movie. This picture is just a photoshoped picture.

Doesn't mean anythign to me except that Sony's spider-man franchise success is just built on marketing and building up the hype.

AS far as the costume...it is going to come down to TWO things:

1. The CGI effects of the Suit itself. The way the "alien" moves and such.
2. The way that VENOM looks....and it had BETTER look like VENOM.

Look, I see what you are pointing out, but it really is just nothing. Just like so many people see faces in static on the TV, we infer these things into what we are looking at. With abstract images you can create, and find almost anything. Just look at cieling tiles, you can find tons of goblins or what ever.

Also look the the left of where you are outlining and you plainly see the outline of one of spider-man's eyes, as if his head were turned somwhere between 3/4 and profile.

the ear of your goblin mask would be his other eye, and the part comming right doen from there that looks like a highlight would be Spidey's nose area, highlighted.

Except those examples you used are far more chaotic and unifrom. There is blatantly a difference in texture between the Goblin mask and the rest of the "reflection" in the eye.

Okay didn't raimi said that this one would be different from the comics, even more than the first two movies, remember the mcfarlane venom saga? spidey did use another black suit apart from the symbiote. even while fighting venom, what if this is a regular black suit and not the venom suit, he still gets the symbiote, but also makes another black suit a non organic(alien or lab-made) just a hand-made black suit. this is possible.

I never thought of that. That is very good. I deff. agree with that. They just want to start up some more hype to keep it going and they did that to make us believe a character will be in this movie. Sony has not released if Venom will be in it or not. We don't know and this picture doesn't prove anything.

Hey I am new to the forum but it is the symbiote (spelling) suit it's hard to see, but if you look closely at the eye, it helps to rotate the image you will see venom's face. It is going to be blurry because of the image but trust me it is there.

Ok, i think that the fact that the colors are dark points that is peter parker/spider-man in one of his darkest moment, sad, depresed. with too much weight on his shoulders, and we can not ignore also that all the people who are related to spider-man will make a conection with the black suite, also thomas hayden church said that he was the main villian, and that the second villian is going to appear at the end, so these image leads us to the black suite and venom, and thoper grace as the alter ego for peter and venom the alter ego for spiderman, and a most plausible chance for a fourth movie, based also on everything thats been said by people involved in the movie

Actualyl, I think you might be right on the sleeve, but the "goblin face" still doesn't match up with the rest of the texture. The rest of it is probably the sleeve, or whatever the photoshopper thought would look like the sleeve's reflection if the eyes aren't as reflecty as they seem.

But if it isn't what I think it is, it probably is the suit's reflection, though it seems a bit off-angle somehow. It's also very possible the reflection of the web patterns was manipulated to look like a goblin face, making it a moot point.

This photo was made to create nothing more than speculation. The only villian that we know to be in SM3 is Sandman. Get over it. Sony would know we would figure this out by a photo right? Here are all of my feelings on the subject:

First of all, I think that we WILL be seeing this suit in the movie. I think that it's just foolish to believe that sony would release something completely photoshopped and made up just to stir up rumors in us fanboys/girls. Why would they want to do that? Rather, I think that they just want to stir up some hype. They want to get people thinking and talking about Spider-man 3. They did this with the Flint Marko picture and now they're doing it with this one. I'm sure we all remember that there were those who doubted the Flint Marko picture as well, calling it a photoshop manipulation and just something Sony was doing to jerk our chain. For the love of God, they're a billion dollar corporation, do you think the execs there care about tricking some hardcore fans? Hell no, they want to keep us thirsty for more. Being decietful to the hardcore fans would only take away from what Sony is truly after, $ and ¢.

I don't think it's foreshadowing. I think we will see this suit in the movie. And while I don't want to believe it, I think that this will be the symbiote suit. It would be far too complicated to have Peter's classic red & blue, this new black suit, AND the symbiote suit. Why go to all that trouble to explain why Peter just all of a sudden wants a change of costume? While I would LOVE to see the original symbiote suit on screen, I think this is what we're going to get. I can only start imagining some fantastic visuals for the metamorphosis between the red & blue suit and this new black suit. I'm also hoping that the suit will "come over" Peter when he desires it and that we'll get to see those visuals as well. As far as discussion about Peter "spray painting his old suit to fight Venom," why in God's name would he do that? Just to have a sense of style? Pulling a move like that would be reminiscent of Batman & Robin when all three heroes changed into new outfits JUST for the final fight sequence. And we all know how good that movie was. As much as I hate to say it because I would love to see the classic symbiote outfit, I think this IS the symbiote outfit we'll see in SM-3.

Second of all, in regards to the reflection in the eyes, let it go. If we were supposed to see something it would have been clear as day. Let it go guys.

Lastly, I think that this poster speaks volumes about the tone and emotion of Spider-man 3. While the picture is certainly "cool," it's undoubtedly depressing. All in all, as far as my personal reaction goes, I think Sony has done exactly what they wanted. They gave me something to whet my appetite, but left enough mystery to have us fanboys/girls talking for days. Well done Sony.

Someone mentioned for all we know it could mean Black Cat is in it because he is wearing black. Ignorant ppl. Think of it as a funeral. What do you were to a funeral? BLACK. Someone has died and he is symbolically wearing a black suit for mourning. Look at the tone of the picture. It is sad. Someone dying is more likely to happen than a symbiote. So when Sony says he wears a black suit in this film, it could mean someone close to him dies. And no, an alien will not work. That will ruin SM3 for the un comic oriented fan and decrease profit and box office turnout for Sony.

I don't really like the new costume. It's too much like the red/blue one, with the exception of the color change. The symbiote costume should be true to the comics, and have no webbing on the suit. I was trying to make an example. Spider-Man also morphs into a gigantic spider with 4 arms in the comics. Sony is not making SM3 exactly like the comics. They are swaying from the comics to be more realistic and relate it to today's world. Spider-Man's first costume also had wing like webs. Did Raimi use that no. Just because the overall photo is dark and black could symbolize many things like the one I mentioned. And no, that is not the stupidest thing ever said because you just topped what I said.
