New York Shooting?

does anyone have any information on when they are to be shooting in New York. since i live in Brooklyn, i wanted to go in the city and try and get some pictures or any information i could get to share with you guys. maybe if some fellow New Yorkers also wanted to join. but if anyone knows the date that they are to be shooting in the city, can you please let me know.

At first I was like "wow who got shot in NYC?" because of the title

but down to business, they have no scedule planned out for the NYC shooting yet. In March they're only doing LA filming. It's possible they will in the future, but since this is a summer movie, They want a warm feeling. So they might film in NYC, but thats june or julyish.

well i havent really seen any shootings lately, actually the last time was in NJ, not NY!

but most likely they'll film action sequences in the summer, thats why as of now they're filming in LA, warm, and all. They'll do more than a marching band in NY, but im sure by then we'll know who Topher is playing

Watch out for Spider-Man on the city's trademark Terminal Tower skyscraper. "Spider-Man 3," starring Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, will shoot exterior scenes next month, the Greater Cleveland Film Commission announced Wednesday.

Cleveland won out over New York City, where it's more expensive to shut down streets.

The Greater Cleveland Film Commission landed the Spider-Man filming in part by offering free soundstage space at the city's convention center.

A small second-unit crew will film action shots that don't involve the entire cast. It is doubtful that Maguire and Dunst will be involved in the shooting, which is expected to last 10 days.

Cleveland's lower skyline shouldn't be a problem in creating a New York-style look, said Alan Tuskes, who works in film special effects. The shorter Cleveland skyscrapers can be extended using computer-generated images, he said.

I'm not sure cause, firstly, i don't live in the States and secondly i've never been on the set of a movie and cetainly not anywhere near Spidey (i wish).So to answer your question i'd say you just need to be very observant and look out for PAs trying to block your view. You wouldn't want to miss out on that great Kodak moment would you?:)

For those of you who don't know this, I actually met him by accident when they were filming "Spider-Man 2" over at Columbia University back in 2003. He was a very nice man to talk to, and he was even kind enough to send a production manager over to show me and my dad around where they were filming. I think the marching band thing was the last straw for Sony - just my gut feeling. From what i read it was very hard and expensive to get a filming permit (Shutting down fifth avenue), so they took the action elsewhere.

i was listening to that too. i forget what school they said, but i did know the school. it will be real dissapointing to me if thats all their shooting in N.Y, and you know their going to use the spyder-cam for some aerial city shots too, but i want to see some scenes with the actors. they got to give us that, a little if anything.

Why not just CALL them, filming in New York is pretty much public information, I believe they have to tell you if and when they're shooting a certain film in New York?

Spiderman’s Bi-Coastal Business Overlap

So this afternoon I went to the local coffee shop with free internet and ended up sitting next to a couple who worked in the industry and were *****ing about their jobs. How hard it was working at Nickelodeon and for MTV. Then a youngish kid walks in and starts chatting it up with the barista about how he is scouting locations for Spiderman 3 and of course everyone at the coffee bar starts handing him their cards. I couldn’t help but think how much work there is in New York and maybe I should just move here.

Well this evening I get back to the apartment and settle in and my phone rings, it’s Central Casting and they need a photo double for Spiderman 3. Oh the irony! Earlier today I was thinking all the work was here, and then I have to turn down working on Spiderman because I am here. AHHH!

I agree with you about the train. At first it bothered me but then I realized that this isn't the NY we know. This is the Marvel Universe's NY and it is slightly different. I would still like to see more of the NY we know though.

Well, I do know that they will be filming a part of the movie in Brooklyn New York near the Cypress Hills J train line. I am not too sure when but I know that they visited the location to check if spacing was good. This location will be used for Spider Man 3 and another movie that the Director Sam Raimi will Produce.

Columbia Pictures is scheduled to film exterior scenes for Spider-Man 3 at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and W 55th St. in Manhattan. The intersection will be closed from Saturday, May 27 to Monday, May 29, from 6 am to 9 pm each day. In addition, from 6 am to 10 am, vehicular traffic will be closed at Sixth Avenue from W 49th St. to W 55th St. each day of the filming.

Parking will be restricted at Sixth Avenue from W 49th St. to W 56th St., but pedestrian traffic and cross-town traffic will flow as usual after 10 am, with intermittent stops for the safety of the public.

the phone call

i'm sitting at work. actually doing work. all day, doing work. and i get a phone call from a number i somewhat recognize. reluctantly, i answer. it's my landlord.

he rarely calls, so i couldn't imagine what this was about. and he sounded serious. he asked if i had a minute. i said sure. i walk from my cubicle out to the elevators and listen as he speaks. i was so scared. because i thought it was something bad, but i couldn't imagine what i had done to get in trouble with the landlord. he said he got a phone call today. and now i'm even more scared. i thought someone called and told on me for something.

so here's the deal...

people were scouting our neighborhood for the shooting of spiderman 3 and they liked our building. they want to shoot outside of it, but are also interested in shooting possibly inside my apartment or in the apartment on floor 2. and the scouts want to come by on thursday to check out our digs, so he wondered if i would be home. he also wondered if i would be okay with people using my apartment for the movie. heck yes i would be okay with it.

i told him i was completely cool with someone using my apartment and that i would check with my roommate to see if he would be around during the day on thursday. as it turns out, he will be. landlord also told me that he (landlord) would be compensated by the film people because he is the owner of the building, but that if they used my apartment, i would also be compensated. even better.

i'm still shaking from thinking i was getting trouble, but i'm pretty excited at the prospect of my apartment hitting the big screen.

officially unofficial

moments ago, i got a phone call from my roommate who reported to me that it seems pretty likely that a part of spiderman 3 will, indeed, be shot in my apartment. they seemed pretty excited about the view from our windows and the space in general. there was talk of installing a tin ceiling (the ones that really old buildings have) and a few other things. about 12-15 people were in the group that came to take a look at our place. they exchanged phone numbers with my roommate before leaving and said some stuff about talking to the landlord about renovation options. roommate also took them up to the roof. one of the coolest parts about where i live.

after they saw the apartment, they headed down to floor #2 to check out their space. i think we will be the clear winners in this race. and my roommate saw something on somebody's clipboard about the scene possibly being shot on june 18.

i will post more details as they come available. tania, you can now tell people that you slept in the exact spot where part of the movie will likely be shot. in the front room. on an air mattress. by the windows. you must have left some good karma behind.

I'm with a management company, they tell me when there's a film in the NY area in need of extras and I go :) Fairly simple lol There could also be open casting calls, but I'm not sure about that :/

So, there seems to be truth to the Spider-Man day rumors... I think I begin to see the gist of it... Spidey is finally getting some recognition - after the train rescue, maybe? People didn´t give away his identity, but probably talked about it... Then he´s taken by the black suit, starts doing wrong things, and it all goes down the toilet again...
