I was at showing of Batman & Robin on opening day when, about 20 minutes into it, the projector malfunctioned. The theatre offered either a refund or a free ticket to another showing. Being the huge Bat-fan I am, I took the free ticket and chose to sit through another showing of B&R. I figured the movie had to get better and that there was no way it would continue to suck to high heaven. If only I knew then what I know now. I sat through the full movie and was utterly sickened by that sucktacular piece of cinema. Never has an opening day been so bad.

Dude , do you even know what you're talking about  ?

Seriously , Van Helsing & The Mummy 1 & 2 were written by Stephen Sommers.
He also wrote Deep Impact ( major major crap)

Mark Steven Johnson wrote and directed Daredevil. The movie version of Daredevil got panned but apparantly the directors cut ( r rated version) is liked/loved by many.
He also wrote and it directing Ghost Rider. And from what i've read the SHH Ghost Rider forum , he seems like a pretty cool dude since he's quite open about the movie and even activily posts there , answering questions etc.
One word of advice , never diss on Mark Steven Johnson in the Ghost Rider forum. They will rape you're ass.

alien vs predator.

Apparently Anderson (director, not the best in the world) wasn't even told that the film was meant to be PG 13 until he started editing. He filmed it thinking it was to be R rated.

Its a joke to take a franchise that has been R rated through out and think you can make it for teen audiences.

I really do hope the Scott/cameron project kicks off soon. They consider alien vs predator non canon.

I case your wondering, the rumored project for alien 5 has Cameron/scott producing, Cameron/scott co-writting and scott directing. Also it has been rumored that they'll only do it with Weaver involved. The story is meant to feature an alien outbreak on a blade runner esque future world.

Well then the audience you watched it with really didn't like it.

Unlike the theatre where i watched it. Everybody was laughing. Especially the end scene withFake purse ninja ( or something like that) and when the eddie murphy double with braces comes along and watched Heather Graham show her boobs. His reaction is classic :D

It's likely no one mentioned it b/c you'd have to be on a deserted island, oh, FOREVER, to avoid the negative attention it got coming into theaters. Well speaking for myself , with Van Helsing i honestly didn't expect it to be that crappy until i saw the videoclips of the movie. By then i had already bought my tickets.

I had expected something in the line of the mummy series , but a bit cooler and more serious.
I mean the posters looked great. ILM got the design of creatures right , just not the realism.
WolfMan looked so unrealistic.

Same goes for Mr Hyde. The movement itself was great , just the animation sucked.

Proof that CGI in the hands of a good director can be great ( Spielberg, wachowski's , cameron) and in the hands of "bad" directors moderate to downright crappy

Cameron was thinking about coming back, but decided not to once AvP was put into production.

As for AvP's R rating... that's all rubbish. Anderson, at best, was aiming for a hard PG-13 rating. There was very little not included in the movie, and he only used the missing content bit as an excuse for why his movie was so poor.

Let's be honest though, the script for that movie was finished (at least 1st draft) around 1997, only brushed up and then filmed. It had been reported by several sources that they were waiting for a "weak" summer line up, because they knew it wasn't a strong movie.

My problem is, if the studio thinks it's such crap that it won't be competative, why even release it?

There's so much more I could rant about with this movie, being the fan of the comic series that I was....not that it would do good.

I believe that he was referring to the the teasers that you see on TV, vs the trailers that you see in front of Movies. Teasers = 30 seconds or so, Trailers = 2 minutes or so.

I haven't seen V yet, but I'm an Alan Moore fan, so it's interested me.

Abaddon, was Daphne the Vampire slayer at least funny?

Alan Moore asked that his name be removed from V For Vendetta, and rightly so.

While I liked the movie, it comes across as severely watered down. It's thematically right, and some scenes are dead-on perfect, but it's lacking in that Moore charm.

IMO, Moore's comics are a real ***** to adapt to film. His works are very wordy and poetic, whereas V the movie came across more like a dirty limerick: still entertaining, but much much simpler.

He was wondering if Sarah Michelle Gellar at least brought some humor to the character, maybe? Cus she certainly wasn't traditional Daphne.

Oh,I thought he(or actually she:o) was talking about Darkness. As for Scooby-Doo,they seemed to play Daphne off as a ditz which just doesnt fit the tv character.I like Gellar, but she was miscast. As was her hubby.Linda Cardellini was excellent though, and she's quite the hotty.

King Kong was ok, I think part of the problem is that at times, there seems to be a love between Peter Jackson and CGI....like the sole purpose of the movie was to use more CGI. I think this is refered to as the George Lucas disease.

Meh, personally I loved it (it's one of my favourite movies) mainly because it filled more story lost from the original and also Kong looked amazingly real. The only shoddy CGI I thought was when he picks Ann up and flings her on his shoulder, and then she's on his shoulder but it looks bogus...absolutely bogus, everything else is okay though.

Naomi should have won an Academy Award, though! GRRRRRR! lol

Well when half the movie has things that don't exist it's kind of hard to steer away from using CGI..haha. And the CGI was top notch most of the time. And that was partly the point of even remaking the film...to give it the effects and visuals that the old one couldn't pull off.

I had a tough time dealing with Ultraviolet horrid CG in the motorcycle chase....it looked so play station'ish (not PS2, PS).

Exactly! I was so hyped for this.I thought, Kurt Wimmer is doing another movie... sweeeet! I LOVED Equilibrium!

It had Milla..not that she is the greatest actress and all, but I think she makes a good action star.I liked the Resident Evil movies.

As soon as the above scene ensued, I thought, oh no! I have heard that the studios basically took the film out of his hands and cut it themselves, so that might be part of the problem. When are studios going to learn that they do not know more then the creators of a project, what the audience wants or expects from a project?

I Loved FF.

Van Helsing did sucked .What I hate most is , Whenever a film has a vampire, the studio has the actor or the actor ALWAYS does the really bad eastern european accent and over the top acting to play a "bad characterization" of Dracula.Thinking they are channeling Bela Lugosi, when they are not even close.

King Kong--was ok, but I have seen it...three times!

BUT, the WORST for me has got to be... Matrix:Revolutions!

If they had spent and $$ that they did on the stupid "Human check" in the first 10 minutes on the chase scene in UV, it would have been a lot better.
