Cain is the worst in your opinions. Don`t speak for everybody. Cain is way better than Reeves, Alyn and Chris Reeve`s Clark in MY opinion.

Anti-signed to the millionth degree.

How exactly was Cain's Clark any better? He was just your average, straight down the road guy character. I found no charm, humility, or much sincerity in his character. Reeve on the other hand NAILED those aspects.

Watch episodes like Never-ending battle, green glow of home, tempus fugitve, and one called I`ve got you under my skin. Those were pure amazing Superman episodes and great addition to the mythology.

Cain`s Clark had a lot of charm, humility and sincerity. He was the Byrne Superman. I hate bumbling, desguise Clark. I prefer someone more real. Brandon will be a mid-term between Cain and Reeve.

I love Cain's Clark so very, very much. My favorite Clark of all time. Reeve is my favorite Superman, I think, but I don't feel nearly as strongly for his Supes as I do for Cain's Clark.

They all sucked. I've yet to see a live-action Clark Kent or Superman that are any good. I hope SR will change that, but since its a continuation of the previous films, I doubt it.

Chris was a really good Superman but he's gone.Even If he hadn't passed away and was healthy enough for move, he would have been too old to play the role. So either way a new actor would have been chosen.
So give Brandon a chance, try to put your comparisons aside and embrace a new actor. You're not betraying Chris's memory(which is the way some of you act.) You're giving the new guy a chance.
Besides everyone knows George Reeves was the best Superman.

Like I said previously, Chris Reeve will always be my definitive Superman, but that doesn't mean I'm not excited to see Superman Returns and Brandon Routh's performance. He has great potential, and I really hope he'll be excellent. I've never seen a Superman movie on the big screen, so I can't wait to see this one.

Considering who we could have had as the next Superman (Nic Cage, Josh Hartnett etc) I am happy with the casting of Brandon Routh

How exactly was Cain's Clark any better? He was just your average, straight down the road guy character. I found no charm, humility, or much sincerity in his character. Reeve on the other hand NAILED those aspects.
Cain's Clark brought in a great idea that Superman is the disguise and Clark is the real person. And Clark seeing as though he was raised like a regular person, is deep down a regular person. He got into journalism because he enjoyed journalism and he was good at it. He talks to his parents everyday for advice. He speaks his mind when he has to. He watches the football game on tv when he gets the chance. He was just a very nice guy to everyone. He was just like us. Superman was'nt somethign he felt obligated to do it was just that good person he grew up to be wanting to give back to the world. It was such a great way to play it.

that was what john byrne did. he humanized superman. and cain brought that to life. cain's clark was way better than his superman, but that makes sense because the show was about him and his relationship with lois. btw have there been any new sr pictures in the last few days?

^^BWA HAHAHAHAHAHAAH BIRTHRIGHT BETTER THAN MAN OF STEEL?? GIVE ME A BREAK. Giant spiders, Luthor with Superpowers, stupid Kryptonian invasion, etc... :rolleyes:How or where did you see Luthor have super powers? Nothing is as bad as Clark NAMING himself Superman, the "S" having nothing to do with his kryptonian background... let's not forget him getting mad and calling Batman a vigilante, when he is essentially the exact same. He fights giant hooker named "Magpie"? Everything was corny, contrived, and had no where near as much relevance and threatning real world scenarios as Birthright did. How about how everything in M.OS. has to deal with a "matrix" of some sorts, lol. Or how about all the world basically knowing who and what "Superman" looks like after he saves an airplane at an air show. No one can deduce he is Superman? Or even after he just RANDOMLY gets a high profile job as a journalist, just because he wrote an article on Superman? How would the Planet know ANY of it is true. You have to have an education, and job history to get a position like that. How about the terrible dialogue? Like how he "Thinks Bizarro Superman knew that the dust particles of himself would cure Lois's sister?" Stupid crap like that.. Seeing Kryptonian ghosts? It all sucked. Birthright feels real and plays out like a motion picture. M.O.S. feels like just what it is... a terrible comic book.

All you said about MOS i think its great. This and the Super rescue, Superman being scared of all those people wanting a piece of him, Clark swooping Lois on Superman`s scoop, wich added the rivarly, Superman doesn`t having powers till later on wich is amazing. How stupid is a superbaby? :down

Byrne made Superman relevant, made readers care for him and stopped that atrocity that was happening to him in the Silver age period. Birthright is bringing back the silver age comics wich was the most stupid period in Superman`s history. This is a fact!

Which suckes. John Byrne's Superman made the name for himself. Such an overrated piece of work. Birthright makes MOS look like a grade schooler wrote it.

*Stands up*

Tell it. You speak the truth!

Well, except for the grade school part. But the idea of Clark Kent being a regular guy and Superman being the disguise wasn't cool. That destroyed the great dual identity that separates Superman from majority of the superheroes, minus Batman.

I've seen both Superman II and III in their theatrical releases (1981 and 1983).

Seeing Superman in a theatre again will certainly bring back memories -- let's hope the movie delivers!

And I think it will.

I wish I could have seen them, but unfortunately, I wasn't even born :D :O
I'm so excited about this movie, and from the trailers and other stuff we've seen, I really think this movie will deliver

The suit or at the very least the fabric is in Clark's backpack when he arrives at the arctic location of the FOS in S:TM. The fabric is Kryptonian as it is the blankets in the starship. So while S:TM does not detail it's creation the suit doesn't magically appear either.

Guys I don't think it's anything more than lighting. You can take a man with jet black hair, put him under the right light (especially sunlight) and it will look brown. It will show up black in the movie more often than not.

A person with Jet Black hair would have greyish-black hair under heavy light. If there was any brown then that wouldn't be jet black hair. It would be a very dark brown, which is what Routh has. And that's fine, provided it looks blackish for most of the movie.

Umm, no. A person with Jet Black hair would have greyish-black hair under heavy light. If there was any brown then that wouldn't be jet black hair. It would be a very dark brown, which is what Routh has. And that's fine, provided it looks blackish for most of the movie.

yup i agree. one of my best buds is chinese and he has jet black hair under any lighting conditions.

Routh has chestnut brown hair (like mine). it will appear black under weak light but under the sun it will almost always appear brown (a little darker than that pic above)

What is your obsession with Reeve? Everytime someone makes a comment about Routh, you compare Routh to Reeve. As if that makes Routh infallible or something!

LMAO! I don't have an obsession with Reeve. I was just joking around with kak on the cape attachment. I barely even brought up Reeve anyway. ;)

it's not him landing... seriously. it's obviously cgi in that shot, and that's not such a bad thing, because even the 'bad' cgi in this film is really quite good comparitively.

edit: by 'that shot' i mean the shot in the trailers, not that pic above... that's real. they probably do the hard cgi landing, cut to luthor, then cut to a real brandon rising.

dude... the hard landing is cgi. let it go.

if it really was Routh, they would have logically filmed both the hard landing, and the raising up part one right after the other. there would have been no 'okay, this is the part where you' becasue they would have just done it right before that.

it's okay, man. it's not bad cgi, just obvious cgi.

DorkyFresh
06-10-2006, 03:33 PM
i know the landing is cgi, i'm just stating that a director saying 'this is the part where you..." doesn't necessarily mean that following shot is gonna be cgi otherwise we would've had cgi when film was still in black and white.

for the first film it was a wig. not quite sure if it was his real hair for the succeeding films (i'm thinking it was at some points).

the point is is that they didnt have any problems following the canon (blue eyes, black hair) for the first two films then they backslided on the third an the fourth, which kinda ticks me off.

but then again as i've said before i'm big on continuity and small things like these do get to me at times. its just me :O

That's a good point. Also the fact that the ground is already broken points to the fact that this could be the shot after he lands.

Don't forget people, it was already confirmed over at CG Talk by one of the artists that worked on Superman that the shot was CGI.

EDIT: It's confirmed, you are right.

If you watch the ET footage, you can actually hear Singer tell him, and I quote, "you just went wham, into the ground".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imF8aMxUE9Y&search=

That screencap is from the shot after the landing. The landing shot is still CGI and it is still s**t.

Don't people see that the ground that he's standing on is already all cracked? That means that's a set piece and Routh is taking his mark to continue the scene from after CGI superman lands. If that was a real time shot do you think Routh actually landed and created all the cracks? If the supposed CGI superman was actually routh that'd have to mean that the ground would have to have been uncracked before he landed. cmon now. It's pretty obvious that it's Singer filming a continuation of the scene after CGI superman lands. Perhaps you should just give up darkb. :P

Him landing may very well be CGI. But... CGI isn't just about *adding* stuff... it's also used to take stuff away. What I'm trying to say is, as the cracked ground will be around longer than the pre-cracked ground, it would make sense to have it there already.... and un-crack it in post, revealing it after he lands. I probably haven't said this very clearly... it's v.late :)
