i shall now take the stance of many suit supporters and say..the suit is recognizable as superman and is in tune with the all the design elements therefore ... dont complain about little things like the cape being too long or the belt and undies not being returns like because the general audience won't notice. :P

I mean it has to go hella faster. I never understood why they said 1.8 anyway. I was like, this gonna replace the 20 year old F-15 (premier air defense fighter), and that goes Mach 2.5...and the Raptor can only go 1.8, but has the ability to go over Mach 1 W/O LIGHTING THE JETS??!!!!!!!!! It didn't make a lick of sense, yet the general public would never pick up on that. That's cool you talked to someone from lockheed. If I may ask, what profession are you in? And is the just an interest to know this stuff, or is it part of your job?

Hey not to bust in on your conversation but I thought I would add a little. 1.8 Mach may just be it's top speed at low alt. The F-15 had a top speed of 1.2 mach. But at high alt it was about 2.5 mach. So perhaps the speed for the Raptor is just for low alt or an unspecified alt. My guess is it has a similar top speed. I don't see it breaking mach 3 though. You tend to run into heat problems. However, that stuff may be less of a problem with composites used these days. But yes the Raptor has "Supercruise" which like you said is the ability to go and sustain supersonic flight without the need of afterburners. Also don't forget the fun little addition of thrust vectoring. I would love to see what that thing can do. Something tells me it can manuver more than any pilot can handle.

On a side note too....The Raptor does indeed have air-to-ground ability. This afternoon an F-22 was in tests and dropped a JDAM bomb at supersonic speed(the first time ever done).

Only problem I have with this costume in that pic (and the 'Up, Up and Away renditions in general) are the long-assed sleeves that go past Supes' wrists and cover half his hand. Artists' preference (I guess) because it's they're like that in the movie (or been drawn like that in the comics) as far as I'm aware.

not because it looks fake but because it is cinefex and because it doesnt look normal. go watch some cinefex covers and you will understand why this is CGI. who said that in the movie this will be a shot? i guess they made this only for cinefex cover.

i dont know what the pseudo science explanations are behind Cyclops' and Superman's ray beams are but the appearance is the same: they shoot hot red beams from their eyes. Superman has been able to do this power long before Cyclops, i dont see any reason why the VFX cant be done of him.
