go watch the LUITS doc part where he meets Lois on the DP rooftop then watch it on the DVD... the footage speaks for itself.
That's because that's not a simulation of night, it's a terribly inaccurate job of lighting. It looks like it's lit for day even though the sky is black.

nope, it's color correction... even a fellow BT.net colorist agrees with me, and he liked the movieactually color correction means color correction. color.
i must agree here with TheBat812. the lighting on the rofftop was a disater IMO.

watch the part where they are filming supermans take of. the lighting is to big and to hard. what did tehy do? in post tehy darkened the whole footage which destroyed everything.

this is to strong lighting for a night scene :o

and that's exactly what singer did... he changed the color... the color has nothing to do with lighting.

look, I respect both you guys, but I live and breathe color correction, and I know what I'm talking about.i meant that the lighting was so hard that they in post production had to make the whole footage darker.

Buggs, I can't dispute your film or Hollywood knowledge, but I do know anatomy. The two scenes you're talking about have his spine curved. That plus the angles are what you're seeing.

here you can see how they changed the background before thye realesed the movie. the first screenshots are from the superman doc.

the first time it was better because of the fast moving clouds. you get the feeling that he flys faster because of the movement.

thats one of the problems with SR. you dont get the feeling that he moves very fast.

No they weren't. What you posted is actually Superman drawn by Alex Ross. The art department took some pieces from his Superman Peace On Earth book and painted or digitally manipulated different backgrounds in. Guy Dyas, Singer and co. are fans of his style and he was therefore a big inspiration on the look of the film.

Oh and btw Ross seems very open to working on (http://www.ugo.com/channels/comics/features/alexross/default_5.asp) SR2.At least that's what i got from his words.....

Frantic produced more than 140 VFX shots for the film, covering six major sequences. In the process, Frantic employed its proprietary software, such as Flood and Krakatoa, while also creating new technology to achieve Singer's vision.

Yes! his neck and his body a little more to, look the defference on this photo, Molale is not so big as he can be, is in the same situatuin than Routh, but still big and with a very good neck, and look brandon, his body and his neck dosent look good after all that tryning, that means than he doesn`t tryining so well as we need to play the man of steel!

Why should he look exactly like Reeve? He's over six foot tall has dark hair. As for his eyes there's contacts for those that require they be blue. I also think from what I've seen of him he has an excellent attitude too. He seems the nicest guy and I've heard from one that was there with him (at Bluetights) that says he is. Not to mention he does charity work too. But I think he looks, sounds and acts like Superman. Even though he doesn't have superpowers. ;)

For all the people out there who didnt like Routh as Superman - there are alos people who think he did a fine job and hopes that he'll be given a chance to reprise the role and grow into it further.

True his eyebrows & eyes aren't like Reeves, but some of the "on the set" pics of him as Clark & his smile very much look like Reeve. The first time I saw pic of him as Clark with the smile, I thought Reeve from the first Supes went through the future & is doing SR. :p Thought some of the scenes in the movie as Clark, Brandon look different. It like he's a chamaelon(sp?) or something. Pretty weird.

I just really find it funny how SR defenders turn damn near blind defending the film, even when the pictures provide proove against their point. I think the funniest was when you guys would say that Maroon was his color all along, and then post pictures of what is obviously red. Or that the Superman S shield has always been in 3D, the artist just never had the time to define the look, and provided pictures of an obviously not 3D shield on his chest to prove their point.

The above pics you provided did nothing but prove my point.

Not for nothing but as a weight lifter I can tell you there are plenty of thin but large bellied guys out there, it doesn't mean your fat, in fact some of them just have huge abs and you can see a perfectly defined mid section so I wouldn't presume to say that Roth's belly juts out hes a fatso..
I never said he was. I just said in a lot of shots, due to the short/panty cut style of the shorts, he gut sticks out more in flying shots and it appears as a beer gut. Reeve, wearing the higher cut shorts, even lying in the pole arm or leather stomach harness, stomach just didn't stick out like that. It is in a lot of shots of Routh. Even a greenscreen shot of him flying with Lois shows it too. And a lot of that has to do with the low cut shorts he is wearing.

But you can definately see more of a pot belly in the Routh flying shots then you do the Reeve flying shots.

Honestly on a multimillion dollar film like SR I wouldn't think that they would allow a pot belly, after all I am sure they test fit him long before shooting to get him in the proper shape, I really don't believe he has a pot belly, its just the way the costume fit and perhaps the rigging of the harness who knows.

thanks retroman. to bad this was not on the DVD. they promoted some grounbreaking flying and wirerigs and they didnt show enough IMO.

and since they also said more then once that they build a detailed 3d brandon routh with pore details they could have showed it.
Yeah, the dvd has a great documentary but IMO it lacks things like commentary tracks with extra insight on the production and featurettes on the effects.:o

The extended edition would be a great place to add stuff like that.

Not surprising.There's probably some kind of an embargo in place on the actual footage of the whole sequence until WB releases it themselves. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long to see that eventually.

This picture is laughable.. He just looks sooo awkward here. His body is just all out of proportion. Slim trunk, super thick legs. Weird facial expression.. just a horrible pose I mean what is he doing here? Is he supposed to be using his super breath? I thought it was weird in the movie when he blows out the fire how his cheeks dont puff when he supposedly uses his super breath. It's more like he just opened his mouth and out it came. At least pretend like your expelling some air out of your mouth. :whatever:

AVAYA Gets Super Hit in "Superman Returns"
Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane on a AVAYA office telephone at the Daily Planet. Avaya went to a lot of work o pull this off. AVAYA technicians installed over 100 phones that all had to be practical (working). What made this even harder was the fact "Superman Returns" was shot in Australia. This meant that we had to have technicians on stand-by for the Warner Bros. production if anything should go wrong. Good news is the system was flawless, not once to our knowledge was there a need to call for help. (click image to enlarge)

If SR really is going to be the cap off to the Donner films and seen as an end to that particular franchise, then I think WB NEEDS to release an extended version of SR with the RTK scene. There's no reason to keep it locked away at this point.

I really dont understand whats stopping them releasing an extended edition right now, there is no sequel happeing, or any Superman movie it seems, so finish the franchise and release an extended edition with the RTK scene in.

It is one of the few promotional pictures/posters that was released for the film that I actually liked for a variety of reasons, however a while ago my computer gave up on me & I lost the HQ copy I did have saved :(

The first ones amazing...I thought the film was pretty good, it does get a lot more hate than it deserves......Routh looked the part and I would be willing to see him in the role again...

Hi!
I'm looking for an image of the superman returns suit. I had it but my stupid hard drive decided to die on me and I lost it.
It is a cg image of the chest shield with the little :super:s all over it and the background is the diamond pattern of the suit.
If somebody has it or can point me in its direction I will really appreciate it. My desktop doesn't look quite right without it.
