Difference between the Matrix Sequels and the POTC sequels was that they finished shooting the matrix movies and only then did they start working on the post.prod. Just like the LOTR movies.
With POTC they shot DMC and a portion of AWE and afterwards started working on the post of DMC. After they finished work on DMC , shooting continued with AWE after which they rushed to get the VFX done. While DMC was difficult , AWE was a nightmare due to the short post. prod. schedule and the complexity of the VFX shots. Not to mention that AWE needed to be bigger then DMC.

When i saw GI JOe's trailer i was worried because of the VFX. Sommers has used ILM for his last 3 movies ( The Mummy 1 & 2 , Van Helsing) so i initially thought that they delivered some pretty average looking shots. But i was relieved to see that Digital Domain was the main VFX studio and ILM isn't involved :hehe:. btw i'm saying it now , the scene when the ship is attacked in the TF : ROTF trailer has to be done by DIGITAL DOMAIN.

only a big CGI company like ILM,weta or sonyimageworks cna make a character like davy jones to life.
those small companys are good for small movies or when they help out big companys. those small ones dont have a big R&D to make good research and invent something new and inovative. thats what FOX does always uses the same company so that the CGI never stands out and has nothing new. ILM in 2003 made with hulk more groundbreaking CGI then R&H in 2008. and they had a bigger budget.

It's too gritty. Even Warrior Within was set on an island which constantly shifted between past and present.

SoT had a sinister beauty about it...
You enter a beautiful room with the sunlight breaking through the windows illuminating the furniture and draperies. An eerie calm is about, then suddenly.... BAM SAND MONSTERS!!!

I actually think a gritty Shadow of Colossus would look surreal in it's own right. Just because of the sharp reality juxtaposed with the incredible and unreal Colossuses.

Which is why I think that if POP is anything like the Pirates of the Carribean movies then it will be fantastic. A historic setting with a fantastic situation thrown in (the sand creature being the equivalent of the Flying Dutchman crew and such).

How much money and power does Disney have? Enough that they can hold their own damn convention to show off all their own product. Other studios have to share the stage at some rag-tag event like the San Diego Comic Con while Disney, rolling around in Jonas Brothers and “High School Musical” money, can go to the Anaheim Convention Center, and show off all of their ****. (That’s going to be slogan by the way: “D23 Expo: Check Out Our ****”)

The D23 Expo (the “23″ commemorates the fourth through twenty-third “Mighty Ducks” movies that never were) will offer looks at ABC’s upcoming shows, behind-the-scenes look at what’s coming to Disney theme parks, a look at Disney’s history and their classic films, but who cares about all that.

What’s going to bring a slew of journalists to Anaheim from September 10th through the 13th is that Disney will be offering first looks at “The Princess and the Frog”,“Rapunzel”, “isney’s A Christmas Carol”, “Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland”, “TRON”, “Toy Story 3″, “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” and “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”. This movie needs to have the same feel of hopelessness that the game conveys through the camera pans that first introduce all of the aspects of the next puzzle or death trap that awaits you. If this movie is shot like an action flick where it's one danger after the next until a slow-mo chain reaction destroys everything, it will be thoroughly forgettable.

Jake looks like he is going to make an awesome action hero...we will see next year...or atleast I will probably see next year.

I hope that the main focus of the movie is making it a fun adventure flick first and a accurate adaption of the videogame second.

So far things are looking good. I hope that this is to videogame movies what the first Pirates of the Caribbean was to Pirate/adventure movies. I loved the first Pirates and I'm hoping lightening strikes twice.
