I know that Peter Jackson is set to do a Halo movie. Does anyone have any details on it by chance. I haven't heard hardly anything.

Well for it to be coming out in summer 07 not much is known at this time. Del Toro dropped out, but Peter Jackson is locked in for sure. Thats really all we know.

I found a little bit more:
Writing credits
Alex Garland (screenplay) and
Joseph Staten (story)
Plot Outline: On a planet known as Halo, Master Chief and his band of human soldiers risk their lives to halt a takeover by the Convenant, a conglomerate of alien races.
And Halo 3 the game is rumored to be due out in April 08.

No it's not
Halo 3 the game hasn't even BEEN ANNOUNCED. Much less out next month. Crazy *****.
As for the summer 07 date, Spider-Man 2 is halfway through filming and is aiming for summer 07. Halo doesn't even have a script. More like 09.

How does Del Toro drop out? He only considered it. He was always going to do Hellboy2.
seeing as how they want to get Halo out in summer of 2007 but Del Toro wants to make Hellboy before that... looks like he's out, maybe thats what he meant

C:I AM on the game boards. More than you. You are, and everyone laughs at you because you're vacous.
D:It's not rumored at all. Bungie is working on a seperate project with Halo 3 down the road. If you don't know your info, don't go on a website claiming you do. That's just stupid.

Halo is rated M, the movie should be Restricted. I do not give a f**k about the little pansy ass twelve year olds who won't be able to get in without an adult.
And something that hasn't even been announced to be in development can't really have an official release date prediction. A fan rumor? Sure. But I don't care about fan rumors. pwntz.

for starters, yes Halo 3 is rumored summer '08. like i said, its RUMORED, nothing set in stone.
I also think it should be rated r, pg-13 would be a week-ass rating for a movie with that much killing.
Master cheif needs to be played by a scronny no-name guy with very pale skin.
And Peter Jackson is perfect for halo movie

Didn't they make hints towards Brutes making an appearance in the Halo script at Latino Review?
IMO, as long as they successfully translate the elites, I'm happy. Also, should the Elite that becomes the Arbiter be featured in the movie, possibly as a big bad?
The movie would most definitely have to be rated R. Like many have pointed out before, the games are rated M so I don't think they should be pressured to restrict the movie's gore to protect the "younger crowd".
Wolverine84
03-03-2006, 11:31 PM
They would have to have the arbiter in it, before he was the arbiter IMO, because he was the leader of all elites, i think he'll play a big roll in it, or at least should
for everyone that keeps asking about what the story will be, you guys should really read the first page more often ...here

Gaming is a totally different thing. Parents and theaters might not let kids in who are to young.
Gaming is (not so much anymore) not monitored and any person could just get a game and play it if they want.
You don't really see R rated movies making alot of money? Do you?

Ever heard of a movie trilogy called the Matrix? Think about it, if something as awesome as the Matrix can get an R rating and still make a lot of money, then think of the chances of success for a Halo movie with an R rating, not to mention the legions of fans who already play the game.
unless they totally f**k up Halo, it will be huge even if they rated it R... there's way too many fans

Why the hell would Master Chief be scrawny? The Spartans are genetically enhanced superhumans. They're superior to every other human without the suit, so if they decide to show him without Mjolnir then he would need to be a big guy.

I think the latest is 2007. I'm thinking Fall 2006 it will come out. Anyways here's some specualtion of the rlease date from Wikipedia.org: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_3
Steve Ballmer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Ballmer), the CEO of Microsoft, was quoted as saying that Halo 3 was in development alongside Halo 2; however, this quote was recognized as a slip of the tongue and debunked before the release of Halo 2. Bill Gates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Gates), Microsoft's chairman, stated in a May (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May)2005 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005)Time Magazine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Magazine) interview that Halo 3 would be released in the "second wave" of Xbox 360 titles in 2006, as close to the PlayStation 3's launch as possible, to divert sales. "It's perfect," Gates said, "The day Sony launches [the new PlayStation], and they walk right into Halo 3." (Time.com article, registration required (http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1061433,00.html); relevant quotes on Gamespot.com (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/05/15/news_6124592.html?part=rss&tag=gs_news&subj=6124592)). When asked shortly afterwards however, Microsoft senior vice president Robbie Bach (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robbie_Bach) was less definite, saying (http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/225346_msftnotebook23.html): "We haven't announced anything on what Bungie is doing or where we're going with the future of the 'Halo' franchise... With all respect to Bill, I don't run Bungie's studio, and neither does he. We'll work with the Bungie guys and let people know [when they have something to announce]".
Bungie has not denied that another Halo game is in progress, but they have not officially announced the game. However, the studio is known for being highly secretive and even occasionally misleading regarding development of their games. Bungie has recently made regular references to "our next project" in their website's weekly news updates. Though no official statements have been made regarding what that next game is, most believe it is indeed Halo 3, and that Bungie is just being coy about the project in typical Bungie fashion. Bungie has also recently stated that Sapien and Guerilla, custom-made programming tools used to build Halo and Halo 2, are being worked on.
An article in Game Informer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_Informer) in November 2005 reports that: "Halo developer Bungie is so paranoid about the storyline for Halo 3 leaking out that two different storylines are being worked on so that even the company's employees are in the dark as to the plot of the game."
---
I think on gamespot it was revelaed some time ago, a playable "demo" of the game was ready. So it seems like the game will come out soon. But I guess it would be bteter marketting if Halo 3 was released in 2007 around the time of Halo: The Movie.
They should also make what I like to call HALO: THE ULTIMATE EDITION.
Which has all 3 games in a box set with loads of special fetaurtes and all of thier graphics and movies and capabilities fitted for the 360/ and for Halo 3.
To make the ame the same trough all games.

The special effects for the Covenant can be done using a mixture of practical and digital effects. Large action shots can be done using CGI, but let's say you have the Arbiter giving a speech to bunch of elites on a Covenant dropship on its way to battle, you can use practical effects similar to the work done in Narnia.
Great examples from Narnia that can be used to visualize the practical effects of a Halo movie would be the Minotaur, the Satyr, and the Centaur.
I can see the Prophets being done using Jim Henson type of puppetry.
Cinematography reminiscent of a James Cameron film would be great to capture the scifi elements and tone of a Halo movie. Like most of the high tech/industrial environments like The Library with the Arbiter can be done with dim lighting, and sparse blue lighting to make up for the technology found their.
Scenes on earth like the outside sequences of Zanzabar in Halo 2 could be done similar to the outside sequences of Black Hawk Down. The dry, gritty cinematography from that movie would be perfect for any Zanzabar type sequences found in a Halo movie.
Damn, I'm rumbling again, but I can see a Halo movie easily being done, it could probably cost as much as King Kong to make though.

For the most part, no one has any sure knowledge of what is going to happen in the Halo movie, so at this point I believe everyone is able to speculate freely until Microsoft or Bungie come out with an official word on the plot of the movie.

From the Plot-outline we can safely say that it's about Halo and not Halo 2.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0464037/
"In a Holy War with a Covenant of Alien Races, Spartan Super Soldier Master Chief and the crew of a battleship known as "The Pillar of Autumn" accidentally crash land on a mysterious ring-world structure known only as "HALO". Now, Master Chief, along with help from The Pillar of Autumn's sentient computer A.I. (Cortana), must unlock the destructive secrets of "HALO" before the Covenant does, or risk the destruction of Earth."
That and the script review makes absolutely no mention of Halo 2 or it's plot anywhere.

Plus who's to say that characters and settings from Halo 2 won't be making an appearance in a Halo movie?

Have you read the script, or what's on Latino Review? Plus what Latino Review posted still leaves room for Halo 2 characters and settings. The dream sequence MC has in the beginning could possibly be done in an environment similar to Zanzabar. Plus were the Helljumpers even in Halo 1?
This is all considering that what Latino Review posted was indeed factual.

Peter Jackson's producing and Weta's doing the CGI.
It's already on my DVD rack :up::up::up:

^When I mentioned Halo 2,I wasn't talking about the story from it,I was talking if we would see aliens and weapons from the Halo 2 game.

Alot seem to want any Big Guy able to fit the Suit & just use the Game Voice Actor :up:
Same with the Aliens & anything Non Human. Which will probably end up CGI & just use the Game Voice Actors

what the f**k?... that is the way to do it, now matter who you get, it will not please everyone, not showing his face is part of the reason why many people love the franchise. We all have our own image of him and thats the way to do it. dont show his face, keep the same guy who does voice and thats all you need.

I didn't mean not showing his face, I just got the vibe people wanted a whole CGI film...it looked like they were elaning that way anyway...if not, my bad

It has to be Live Action. I mean you got 2 Movie Studios teaming up to be able to get this Movie going. You dont do CGI for that

its only a matter of time before someone makes a mature CGI film, Halo could be that if they wanted to?

But definitely not as challenging as a Live Action Film would be
it wont cost as much, easier to do, and would be something new to see a CGI film made for adults

Bogus or not bogus?: Not bogus that Bungie indeed has something playable in the Pacific Northwest, and probable that it is Halo 3...but you didn't hear that from us.

I won't expect Halo 3 until '07, because usually it takes two years to come out with a decent game, that is assuming that they started work on Halo 3 right after they shipped Halo 2.

They are NOT working on Halo 3. Period. They're not. Don't believe it if you don't want to, but Bungie hasn't announce ANYTHING about what they're working on, but they HAVE said they were looking at something non Halo.
Either way, even if Halo 3 was in the works, it would NEVER be here before 08. Or it would be horribly rushed like Halo 2.
No matter what there's no chance in hell of it being here pre-08.

Imagination_13

Master Chief should be a 7 foot tall man in the suit, with Steve Downes doing a voice over. That would rule. There's a dude at my school who's perfect. A little slim, but he's f**kin' huge.
And Master Chief without the suit is a pale military looking clean cut superhuman dude.

I'd expect MC out of the suit to have a build similar to Kurt Russel in Soldier, he might've been good for the part. If not him then Vinnie Jones.

yeah 2008 is way to far away. It will proably be near the release of the movie. Before or After I dont know
It depends on when the movie comes out next year. Filiming should be starting Freakin soon or it won't make 2007 cause I know they will need months of Post Production.

If there was a bright person out there somewhere working with Bungie and the Halo movie, which I know there is, they'd co-release the game and movie... and make profits that would skyrocket during that Halo week!
Though, a movie one year and a game the next isn't bad either seeing as how both are guaranteed to make money anyways
That would be cool, releasing the movie and game at the same time, pretty good idead...
