I was wondering if any Brits will be going to watch X3 at the Odeon in Leicester Square - possibly for the midnight viewing.

Yeah!?!

I really want to but it's right in the middle of my GCSE's but I wouldn't have one for like 6 days afterwards so I might just do it.

Yeah!?!
It's not just any old cinema. It's like the most high profile one in the middle of London where all the premieres are and the atmosphere is usually really cool.

I may be.....and don't worry, crowds are not a problem for me anymore. I think the five years with the prison therapist will prove that.

Well I'll probably go see X3 at the Mann's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood where the X3 premeire will probably actually happen....but that doesnt mean I'm going to start a thread about it months in advance.

That'd be great. But I just reckon I shall see it at either Odeon or Vue cinema. Definitely gonna be the first one to see it in Leicester, I'd hang around for ages to watch the movie. And another cool thing, is that there's a new extremely cheap cinema down the road from my campus. At 2.90 a ticket, you can tell I'll be watching it every day there.

got the UGC/Cineworld unlimited pass... so i guess i'll be seeing it many times during it's cinema run..
Will try for opening night in L.Sq.. but otherwise i will just catch it in Chelsea (closer to home)

I'm checking the local Cineworld's website on a weekly basis, waiting for the advance tickets to go up :) so i'll be booking a ticket or two then... I've already booked time off work the following weekend :) However, I really don't have the money to go all the way to London and stop over (not that I'd sleep anyway - I'd be hyped for a week and be running solely on Red Bull - or rather the Tesco equivilent, Kick!) AND pay for tickets - which I suspect aren't exactly cheap!
Anyone know if any celebs (and by that I mean REAL celebs not the usual Z-listers <coughs something that sounds suspiciously like "Chantelle"> ) are gonna go to the Brit premier?

Well I had been pouring over the latest issue of Empire (the version with Wolverine on the cover, naturally) and one of the bosses pops up with "oh are you a bit of a film buff then". Hey *I'm* not embarrassed by it :) just my bosses :) I quite happily use my local WH Smiths (its a newspaper & Magazine shop, in case there are any "foreigners" popping in here to see whats happening in sunny ol' Blighty) as a library, spending my lunch hour in there reading the Xmen mags :)

^^ Yep, I'm a maniac for the English language! But people should feel good about learning, especially when it stops them making mistakes!
When i used to read the Claremont-written Uncanny X-Men as a kid of nine or ten, I often used to have to grab the dictionary to look things up and those stories helped expand my mind and vocabulary! Where else would you find sentences about 'eldritch fire' or 'malefic destiny' or 'coruscating tower of force'!?

We have an Ozone/Vue Cinema near here which provides a FAR better cinematic experience than the Odeons in town. You don't have to sit as close to the other people in the Ozone!

Not at midnight, it will be all fans I'm sure. You don't go all the way into central London and pay for the expensive tickets unless you're a fan. On the other days there will be general public but it's still a place to go if you want the experience so there will be a higher concentration of fans than in most other cinemas.

On the 1st day only and using pure guesswork based on my experiences of previous LS first showings, the audience will be made up of 40% hardcore fans, 40% general X-Men film lovers and 20% general film fans (who aren't fans outside of the X-films and are just going for a good day out or with someone else who loves the films). I would expect 99% of the audience to have seen and really liked the 1st 2 films.
After Day 1 things will change totally and the atmosphere won't be comparable. Also, I wouldn't attend an afternoon showing if there is one.

Midnight won't have any non-x-fans I don't think.
There's a hardcore of people who go to the midnight showings of all the big sci-fi / fnatasy films (me being one of them). They might be bigger fans of Batman or The Matrix but they'll still turn up to the X-films midnight showings. Once you taste the atmosphere you want to go and see how fans of other films react.
Also you have the hanger ons eg partners and friends who are being dragged along who aren't offical fans themselves.

That's why I started the thread up again. I really want to go to the midnight one but I can only find one friend willing to go with me and that's only because I went to Harry Potter with her on the first evening.
You need to do a few more sly deals like the Harry Potter one and get your friends to owe you a few favours. The London experience is great but you need someone to go with. Otherwise you're out on your own at 2am and it's not easy getting anywhere fast.

People shout out and scream and clap and stuff?
Man that'd be anoying!
I usually see films on orange weds a couple weeks after they are out, and the cinema is pretty empty.
For X3 i'll see it opening night, but I hope people wont be shouting out. I'll book my tickets in advance. And I might cry.
London would be too awkward for me I think, it scares me enough in the day! Plus I wouldnt be able to get home aterwards
The shouting is at the right times though. At the opening and closing credits and only when something fanboyish like the fastball special happens. The atmosphere is the real difference between watching it there and anywhere else.
If you dislike the volume though, probably best to try somewhere else. I would never forgive myself if I missed it.

Not a film, just them in general. He was 14 last week and had a sleep over, I came in drunk around 2 am and ended up being bundled to the floor, smothered under blankets and whipped cream sprayed on me.

Is that people with tickets or the people who crowd behind the barriers? I always thought have sad that looked but now having experienced the x-obssesion I'm sort of tempted to try and get a glimpse of the actors.
The behind the barriers X2 experience was amazing. People do it for many other films but its much better for a film with a massive cast. Otherwise you're waiting around for hours for only one or two people. It might look sad and it is very crowded but you need to question why all these people bother doing it.

lol, I was just being random quoting Senator Kelly, but I think what I was trying to get at is there's probably no particular type of person you can lump X-Fans into.
A lot will surely be geeks. Others, "normal" with perhaps geekish tendencies. But then there's probably tons who aren't geekish.
But let's face it, comics and sci fi films ARE geeky things to be into, you must have a LITTLE bit of geek in you to be interested in them.
Which is why chavs wouldnt be fans lol
But I'm sure chavs would find the special effects and action pretty satisfying and "COOL" in a chavvy, not geeky way...

NOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooOOO OOOOO!!
I think sometimes theres advance screenings a day or 2 before or something tho of most films isnt there?
It's actually gonna be Thursday 25th... Expected previews on Wednesday 24th too...
Saturday 27th on the website is obiviously a typo, mainly because movies never start their weekend run on a Saturday!

I was watching the feature ITV had on Ice Age 2 this morning and that degenerate Chantelle was walking down the carpet mingling with celebrities (Brian Connolly etc, real A Listers). I swear to God if she sets foot on the same carpet as Halle Berry, I will murder her

As the USA promo will be in full swing that weekend I doubt many of the big stars will be there for the UK premier... maybe some UK stars like Vinnie Jones, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen....
But I doubt we will get Famke, Halle, Hugh, Rebecca, Kelsey etc etc...

I think there will be a good turn out the cast at the Cannes Film Festival and London is just a short flight away.
For X2, London had a better cast turnout than LA as at least four of the principle actors were based in the UK at the time (Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Brian Cox) and of these, only Hugh went to both.

I would bet that yes, you will have 4 or 5 stars... but i think they will be McKellen, Stewart, Jones.. then possibly Jackman and one or two of the "kids"... either Ellen, Ben or Shawn or someone like that...

I dont think "everyone" has ever been seen publically together, except for the X Men set!!
Besides, how can "everyone" be in the UK when most of them are gonna be doing the promo rounds and premiers etc in the USA at the same time...
Now I know that quite a few of the stars are expected at Cannes in May, so that will probably be the biggest gathering of the stars...
Also, why would they all turn up for the UK premier and not the USA one... remember that X Men is not as big in the UK as it is in the USA...
In the UK X Men is in the kind of league as Fantastic 4 etc... while in the USA X Men is in a league above those kinda films!

I think many of them will be there. A few of the cast members are British so they will make sure they are there.

X2 had a big British based cast, so it was easier for them.. Pat Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Alan Cummings, Brian Cox etc..
I will be very surprised if any of the "hollywood" stars, like James, Famke, Halle, Anna etc show up for the X3 premier!

Yes it's in Leicester Square and is similar size to Empire & Odeon. However, it is a multiplex so you won't get the same "big event" feeling. There will be more than one showing going on at a time so the fans will be split. Unfortunately the experience can't compare to the other two cinemas.

It only had listings on thursday (Vue) last time I checked but these seem to change by the day. I don't think I'm going to the midnight showing anymore as the experience in a multiplex is not the same as in an event cinema. :(
