FMA Brotherhood, One Piece, and DBZ Kai.
It's amazing how quickly FMA Brotherhood is catching up to the manga. Tho I'm tempted I don't read the manga because the anime is pure awesome and I don't want to spoil it so close to the end. Still tho, I've gotten to where I really look forward to this anime each week. It's just so good. Unlike the first anime, that while I liked it, I ultimately started to lose interest and didn't finish watching until after I saw the movie was out and subbed.
DBZ Kai continues is trend of being far better than the original DBZ. Then again I did watch the US DBZ where Hell became HFIL, bloody face were actually drawn over, and touching heart felt deaths accompanied by fitting orchestral music was replaced by nasaly screaming and ill fitted rechno-rap. It's up to where Goku meets Trunks, so it's getting to the main part I was looking forward to seeing in a Japanese and filler cut DBZ.
One Piece is also just entering one of the best arcs I've read or seen in an anime/manga. Can't wait to see the Ace execution/Whitebeard vs World Government fight in motion.

Heh, someone is having an anime marathon.
Well, my bro said he just read the last FMA manga (so it's now officially finished from what I gather). He told me with the anime basically going 1 to 1, sometimes 2 to 1 on manga to anime, that he guesses FMA Brotherhood should have about 20 episodes or so left. So awesome :), I was worried we were going to be down to 5-6 given where it currently is.
Also nice to see others watching Clannad. I got in a kick a bit late last year where I was wanting to watch Harem comedy animes in the vein of Tenchi or something to that effect. I started searching around and found Clannad and Kannon. Even tho it got a bit depressing near the end, I was really glad I watched it, was a good series.
I also started watching Hayate no Gotoku (I think, been forever since I've seen the name), but it seemed to go on hiatus. Seeing you guys post that reminds me that I need to check up and see if they ever finished the second season. Especially now considering an anime and manga slot has freed up for me considering HunterxHunter is going on another extended break (I swear, the author does like 10 mangas and takes a break for a year). I thought about tossing Fairy Tale in since it's supposed to be in the same vein as other Shounen action animes like One Piece or Naruto, but I'm holding off a bit until it gets a decent head start so I can just plow through manga after manga.
Heh, guess I kinda rambled there. Just seeing some of the names being ticked off lately in here reminded me of things I need to catch up on. Then when I read my post again later to see this uncessarily long wall of text rambling I'll be reminded again heh.

Gah, turns out my brother hasn't seen the FMA Brotherhood anime for awhile, he's just been reading the manga. He assumed it had 20 episodes left because he thought it was still back near the Selim fight. After the new anime ended it had a message at the end that said to make sure to watch the last 3 episodes. Loving this anime, sucks to think you have 20 episodes left and to find out it's only 3 lol.
Still tho, looks like one big kick ass fights about to go down.

Finally got around to watching the last episode of FMA Brotherhood. They gave the series a very satisfying conclusion that wrapped everything up, but left just enough open that you knew there was still adventure to be had. I hate to compare and make it a vs thing, especially since both were good, but Brotherhood was vastly superior to the original FMA. Overall I was glad I watched it and didn't just look at it as FMA cleaned up. Brotherhood especially started to shine when it branched off where the manga and original anime started to differ.

Same as a few above, One Piece. Very eager to see the Whitebeard vs World Government fight animated. The manga of that fight was epic.
Also One Piece movie 10: Strong World. I really liked it, but was disappointed in the main villains personality. Pre movie he was built up as this badass who fought Roger, and the only person ever to escape Impel Downs (by cutting off his own feet no less). He was powerful, but a bit too colorful and not serious enough for his age or standing (IMO).

Yeah, One Piece is my current favorite anime. Where an anime like DBZ can push back story to focus on the fighting, or where others try to delve too deep and make meaning in a story where there is none and end up with a jumbled melodramatic mess, One Piece keeps it's focus and balance. It's about adventure pure and simple. The story and fighting both have their place and are well done, but it's that sense of the Straw Hat crew seeking adventure, and...well it's going to sound corny if I keep saying things like that lol. The good thing is that it keeps getting better and better. Where a lot of animes and mangas start out strong and run out of stamina over time, One Piece is 500+ manga's strong (and only half way over) and still getting better.
I'd recommend the series to anyone that likes animes in that action adventure vein. The only thing I won't recommend is the US dubs. I heard they redid them so I can't speak on the newer ones. However the older ones were among the worst bad dub offenders I've seen.
Like actually drawing over Sanji's cigarettes with lollipops, and then making it part of his personality that he's a candy freak. Editing out Crocodile's cigar and making it look like he just likes to have a huge ass teeth baring grin for no reason. Or cutting out a huge ass party showing what a fun loving guy Shanks is, and instead ending the episode with him staring Mihawk down like a villain. Stuff like that, plus the voice cast was awful, and the dialogue was butchered. It's actually what put me off of One Piece at first thinking it was a bad show, it wasn't until I saw ppl liking it on here that I gave it another chance and ended up loving it.

One Piece kind of reminds me of Dragon Ball, when it was about adventure and finding the balls, but then it became more about the fighting and battles. One Piece has a great balance and great character development. I have heard OP referred to as the spiritual successor to DB, but really it is it's superior in every way.

Since we keep mentioning One Piece and DB together, the author's actually did a few tie ins inbetween the two as well. One where the Straw Hat crew and Dragon Ball crew are in an alternate reality, it's a quick and funny short the length of a regular manga. Then there's another that I haven't read yet, but it's supposed to be a Shounen Jump cross over special where Goku and Luffy fight the lightning bad guy from One Piece (if I remember right his name was En el or something like that). So the author's do have a lot of respect for eachother.
I agree tho, One Piece definitely has that sense of adventure that the original DB had (and again agree it's superior in every way to it as well). Where Naruto and Bleach seem to be eager to take up the mantle of DBZ.
Speaking of long time manga's, also still reading Detective Conan. It's odd how two of the longest running manga's that will still be going on long after some of the current popular favorites finish stay that damn entertaining. Tho I do wish Detective Conan would get back in focus and move it's story forward a bit again. It's been stuck in the independant storylines (and a new European arc coming up) for far too long. I mean they're good, but DC is at it's best when Conan's clashing heads with the Black Organization.

Yea, I know...Dante didn't do much fighting (or anything else for that matter)and when he did he only used Ebony and Ivory(without any fancy gun tricks I might add) and rarely used his Rebellion. Also his flippant, bad boy personality was painfully absent he seemed more moody and depressed in the anime.
Sadly(sad for me that is because it didn't have the spirit of DMC), the anime is canon. Taking place bewteen DMC and DMC4 =/

I cant believe I didn't pick this one up before, such a great story, dark and gritty. It has quite a large cast of characters, all very unique. There were a couple that probably could have got more attention, but I guess for the length of the anime it couldn't be helped. I recommend it to anyone that likes Gang, Victorian/Steampunk Supernatural sort of genre, a wicked series.

Urusei Yatsura Season 1, Episode 1
I can easily see this being a series that gets worse later and I completely hope I'm wrong as the first episode is one of the funniest anime episodes I have seen in ages. Still, it's a Rumiko Takahashi anime, and Inuyasha seriously burned me, so I'm going to be on the fence with it until I finish it.

For any one interested and maybe didn't know, Evangelion 2.0 will be getting a limited release in theaters in January and it's supposed to be on dvd in March I think.
I also picked up the Ninja Scroll dvd at FYE last week for $10 dollars.

Kamichu (Kami-chu!--Kamisama de Chugakusei)-- a lushly animated, gentle comedy that wears its fantasy elements very lightly in a way that reminds me of John Crowley's novels. Godhood as more of a part-time job the heroine is saddled with than a source of endless wangst. Very funny and easy to get into.

I've recently been getting Death Note by Netflix. I just got the 3rd disk today an just finished watching it and I'm loving it, I haven't been this into an anime since when I discovered Cowboy Bebop back in 99 and this is on such a different level as far as the psychology goes. I'll be mailing it back tomorrow to hopefully get the 4 disk by the weekend.

Hitman Reborn. Was looking for a new anime and just kinda stumbled into a thread from google asking if there were other animes as good as it. Since that implied it was good, I thought I'd give it a try. The first 10 episodes are great, then kinda drags a bit until the first major arc around episode 30-40 with Mukuro, which is great. From there on the show really got that addictive quality the good action animes with some comedy get. I'm up to episode 103 or so right now. Think it's finished now, and over 200 episodes, didn't really check, but I am really liking this anime so far.

I watched the first two episodes of the Wolverine anime. I hate the mullet and the bishounen face they've given him. But I love the action moves. He really does slash his opponents and displays some martial arts. The action isn't as good as a Masami Obari choreography but at least he looks competent. It's good to hear what Logan could sound like if he spoke Japanese, so I hope they'll keep some of that in the English dub. Mariko and her father look great. So does Yukio - who's no longer introduced as a love interest and a thief. Instead she's a rogue assassin who wants revenge on Shingen. They've also decided not to use "Harada" as the last name of Shingen but keep the family name of Yashida. Asano's fate was inevitable but at least he was treated with respect. I hope to see more of his team.
I wondered if I stayed in the Philippines would I have seen this through cable. But fortunately it's not listed on the S.E. Asian Animax. So watching it online is okay.
