SHORT HILLS, N.J. - Dana Reeve, who fought for better treatments and possible cures for paralysis through the Christopher Reeve Foundation, named for her late actor-husband, has died, the foundation said. She was 44.
Reeve died late Monday of lung cancer, said Kathy Lewis, President and CEO of the foundation.
"On behalf of the entire Board of Directors and staff of the Christopher Reeve Foundation, we are extremely saddened by the death of Dana Reeve, whose grace and courage under the most difficult of circumstances was a source of comfort and inspiration to all of us," Lewis said in a statement.

Sad news....CNN is reporting that Dana Reeve has died. Apparently it is from the lung cancer that she was reported to be suffering from earlier in the year.

They're together now in Heaven and are no longer suffering. I don't want to sound like a prick or anything, but I was thinking that the Superman Returns movie is going to be that much more special, you know?

We know it's going to be in their memory and I just feel it's going to be a very powerful event come June 30th.

I think that when all read stuff like this, it really puts life in perspective, and how when we argue about SR, Suits, Casting etc, that none of that and the same for this movie is not as important as life.

Btw. I wonder if Dana Reeve will have her name along with Christopher's on the opening credits of SR.

This is a horrible turn of events. I do hope she's resting in peace in a better place with Chris, but their kids... losing both parents over the span of two years, that bites.

I can't help but think about what Reese Witherspoon said in her acceptance speech on Sunday about just trying to matter in life. Chris and Dana were two people who couldn't have mattered more to so many people, and each other, for so many reasons. Come June, they'll have the best seats in the best theater, side by side.

Man, I'm saddened to hear this news the first time I open up the web today. I thought she would still be around longer. I don't remeber many with lung cancer can pass away in just a year from when she announce she has it. My prayers go out to her & Christopher's son Will. It sad he lost both of his parents in just a year. I hope he will recover from it soon & someday continue the crusade both of his parents were trying to do for the good of others. R.I.P. BTW, it really sad to hear after baseball great Kirby Puckett's recent passing, we hear it happend with Dana. I know people die every day, but it really worser when it happend to a popular & good famous people.

This is very sad news. As soon as I got online the MSN page popped up and I saw the news article. My thoughts and prayers are with their families, especially young Will. He lost his mother and his father in a very short period of time. I was shocked to see that this had happened. Its like all you guys said though, now they can be together again, without all the pain that followed them before. They seemed to be tremendous human beings and did a lot for people. She will be greatly missed. Thoughts and prayers with Will and the other family members.

This is extremely sad news. Dana endured so much in the past decade and was there for Chris every step of the way. Her devotion to Chris should be an inspiration to everybody. She was a selfless individual who will be remembered not only for her connection to Chris, but for the incredible person that she was.

I`m shocked...i don`t know what to think about this...I might get flamed for this but the moment i read the news at the front page, I felt that she didn`t die like a fighter, like Chris Reeve died. I felt she wasn`t strong enough to surpass the dificulties, especially for being a single mom with young kids to raise. Cancer is a lot of the times psychologic. If you`re sad, it gets worse. Anyway, i felt she wasn`t as strong as her husband wanted her to be. But god writes through curved lines, we never know whats going to happen next. Let this be an example to always continue our neverding battle for hope for a better world. That`s the Reeve legacy and Superman`s too. May she rest in peace. At least, they`re together now.

Yes, my greatest concern goes out for their child together, who's lost both parents in a few short years now. It was clear in the time after his father died that he was very firmly latched to his mother, and now she's been taken.

Man this is bad news. i didnt know much about her, but i saw an interview she did with Oprah after Chris Reeve past away. It's tragic for the kids or kid. i'm not sure how many they had, but I did see the one son on show who looked a lot like chris. Truly sad.

To Will. You may never ever read this, but I must say it. I know a lot of people, for a long while from now, will expound on things and say age old sayings about loss. They will say these things thinking it will give you comfort. It might, but it also might not. Just be strong, and you will get through this. You had two great parents who loved you a lot. Just be strong, and honor them by being the best person you can be. Your mom said it best when she said that life isn't fair so you better get used to it. I know that this is definately not fair. Not by any stretch. But it is life. However unfair that is. Just be strong and never forget them. You will get through this. You had two great teachers to show you the way.

I was so sad to hear the news of her death and knowing how tough a woman she was after all she's gone through i couldn't believe it. But now she is at peace and her and Chris are together again. I wish Will all the best and to stay strong. They're looking down on you man and stay tough in this world. You never know what path life will take you, just make sure you are ready for it. I found out this morning. My heart was so hurt. She has a wonderful courage and I'm very thankful to her for showing us her a wonderful courage. Now, Dana is with Christopher Reeve, the true Superman.

I feel bad for Will. He's only 13 years old. I understand it's very hard for him. :(

Life is so unfair sometimes.:mad: :( If there was anyone who didn't 'deserve' such a horrible disease it's Dana Reeve. Never smoked a cigarette and still she got lung cancer. And after all those years of taking care of Chris and being dedicated to charity work.

When i heard the news that she had been diagnosed i had hope that she would somehow recover. Its so sad that its ended so relatively quickly. I feel really bad for the Reeve family and especially Chris and Dana's son Will.:( R.I.P.
