Like I mentioned before, probably one of the last great games for the old generation (if not, THE last one).
Absolutely badass.
-----

Game Overview:

Hitman's back, drawing you closer than ever into his deadly world where staying anonymous, being smart and totally ruthless are the key to a perfect execution. Lucrative contracts on the rich and powerful in high profile locations, make killing for money good business. But when a rival agency enters the scene it's war and only the best man will be left standing.

-------------------

Features:

- Earn payment for the successful assassination of targets, the more professional your approach, the higher the reward.

- Play stealthily like a professional assassin or take out everyone in your path, but don't expect to escape the consequences if you leave a trail of evidence behind you. Your notoriety will affect your passage through the game.

- Use the funds you accumulate to purchase custom built weapon parts, to increase precision and effectiveness and reflect your preferred playing style.

- The world of the assassin has never been so interactive or looked so good. Living, breathing locations based upon real word environments and scenarios create a multitude of assassination possibilities, potential challenges and re-playable scenarios. Whilst never before seen levels of detail; including next-generation technical effects add even more realism to the game.

- Use the environment to your advantage, climb, scale and vault through your surroundings, to hunt down and eliminate your targets.

- New reactionary moves allow you to respond to the situations at hand - use hand to hand combat, distraction, hostages and many new assassination techniques to reach and take down your targets

- Realistic world simulation, with intelligent civilians and hostiles, observe and react to your behavior and respond to your notoriety.

- Fully dynamic camera, featuring 1st and 3rd person modes.

----------------------------

Notoriety System:

As with any hitman, retaining your anonymity is incredibly important - it becomes impossible to work if you are recognisable. Players will now be given the opportunity to 'clean up' after any botched hits. For instance, CCTV tapes can be removed from the scene, further evidence such as bodies, can be hidden in objects such as freezers, crates, garbage bins and laundry trolleys to prevent guards raising the alarm. The player should also consider the best way to get rid of any witnesses.

Should the player not take all necessary precautions to protect their identity, then they will find their Notoriety increasing. Newspaper articles reporting on the assassination will reveal more and more information about their identity as Hitman and produce a clearer photo fit image, to the point where guards and other NPC's will begin to react to them.

Hitman: Blood Money: Hands-On
We explore the improved mechanics and dark contrasts of Blood Money. Screens and video included.
by Douglass C. Perry
March 10, 2006 - While raging hormone-teeming teenagers ***** about who sniped each other first in Halo 2, those of us who like a steadier, stealthier kill have discovered the sweet dark work of IO Interactive's Hitman series. Originally introduced on PC in November 2000, the Hitman series has gradually attracted fans for a mixture of reasons, not all of which revolve around pure violence.

Agent 47 is an iconographic character in his own right, silently doing his job with precision and skill and rarely uttering a word. Visually, he's all about the bald head, serious, cold stare, the scan lines on the back of his neck, and a fine suit and tie. Behind the stark graphics and lure of harsh kills, however, the game has grown a massive fan-base because IO has shown a mastery of open-level design, stealth, and replay value like few other stealth games on the market.

At first look, Hitman: Blood Money may not strike you as vastly improved over previous games in the series. In all honestly, this is easily the best looking game in the series, but that's because it's hard to see contact-sensitive mechanics and new moves at work. The screenshots and movies we captured were predominantly from an early Xbox version, which, as you can see, display un-optimized code. You'll see aliasing, some clippings issues, and a decent but not great framerate. But the build we have is far from done; it's not finished, bug-tested, nor optimized. So if you see these images and worry just a little bit, don't. IO's Hitman games have always shined graphically and this year's effort should prove to the best looking one to date.

http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/article/695/695168/hitman-blood-money-20060310054211815-000.jpg
Start your day off right. Choke somebody.

Call it unwarranted hype if you want, but the team is doing so many things graphically that it's quite unbelievable. For instance, IO is implementing bump mapping, specular highlighting, shader models, refractions, and more on PS2. It was once believed that PS2 couldn't even handle bump mapping. Additionally, IO told us the game will look amazing on PC, practically next-generation level from a graphic standpoint, and should easily be one of the best looking games on PS2 and Xbox. So when you see these visuals, keep in mind the game will improve drastically.

http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/article/695/695168/hitman-blood-money-20060310054231986-000.jpg
Too cute to kill.

I'll refrain from re-telling the story as I've done in man previous articles, but know that Hitman takes place in several well-known and well-liked places, such as Las Vegas, and he's not the only one assigned to kill. Another assassin is on the prowl and he/she is after him. IO wanted to capture the stark contrast between normal everyday locations and the cold reality of Agent 47's job, the business of assassination. When placed in a normal suburb, or a peaceful amusement park, as opposed to dank, unrealistic or even slightly fictitious place, these new locations should generate a stronger response from players -- of surprise, perhaps shock, horror, or even awe.

http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/article/695/695168/hitman-blood-money-20060310054211190-000.jpg
And I'll be needing your car, too.

Several of the new abilities in Agent 47's arsenal certainly shocked me. IO's assassin is now capable of simple things that before seemed difficult. He can jump from a 20-story balcony to another one with simple, fluid controls and animations. He's capable of climbing on pipes, wall-sliding across dangerous areas, and as a little surprise to us, he's equipped with an arsenal of hand-to-hand grappling moves. For instance, Dan Adams (EIC at IGNPC) and I played the two of the three different versions (Xbox, PS2, and PC) and he almost mistakenly grappled a guard's gun from him, beat him up and shot the second guard to death. Independently I realized the same thing. I beat up a few guys, headbutted one, and found that in contrast to all previous versions, this version provides players with a plethora of disarm and distraction techniques not available in previous games.

The disarming moves are as simple as pressing an action button when near an enemy. This simple trick adds all sorts of layers and possibilities to the already deep gameplay. You can distract enemies or NPCs as well. In your bag of tricks you'll usually find throw-able pennies that lead guards off their posts so you can go about your dirty business. Not only are these changes reflected in improved animations and better-looking graphics, but Hitman's general level of athleticism and fluidity makes easier to play. And I don't mean easy as in Yoshi's-Island-easy, I mean more natural, fluid, and intuitive.

Following our theme of contrasts, Blood Money works behind the scenes to affect the world around Agent 47. As the game progresses, you'll come to enjoy the subtlety of relevant newspaper stories and clean-up costs, but also on the inevitably of Agent 47's actions on his own reputation. Much like in previous games, Agent 47 is assigned to travel to exotic locals across the world to kill off especially seedy or evil men. But in between levels, you'll notice the effects at work. Information is passed along in slightly different ways than before, using newspapers to report your actions. For instance, after each level, the notoriety system functions by reporting in the news that 10 people were killed in an unexplained killing spree in a Las Vegas hotel. In reality, you might have killed 10 people, and your agency had to come in, clean up the mess you made, and provide a cover story.

http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/article/695/695168/hitman-blood-money-20060310054212393-000.jpg
Climb to new heights in Blood Money.

You'll see the newspaper format at the end of each level, each "article" being readable and providing information on the last and an upcoming mission. You can read the entire front page, which contains stories on both your transgressions and articles on the people you're after. Thus, the newspaper serves as a kind of secret de-briefer before you get the real mission objectives form the agency. They're not necessary to read, but they fill in little details.

http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/article/695/695168/hitman-blood-money-20060310054232642-000.jpg
"Weee! I'm a fireman!"

A new currency system is tied to the notoriety system, and similar to any true stealth game like Tenchu, Metal Gear, or Thief, you're rewarded by being silent, unseen, and deadly. Your reward money for each level is affected by your blunders, sightings, and found bodies. For example, the agency actually subtracts cash from your contract for each clean-up job it must perform. Luckily, there are more places to put dead bodies than in any Hitman game to date. Instead of just dragging them into corners or empty hotel rooms where people will inevitably find them, you can drag dead bodies into trunks and closets, hiding them completely. Money comes in handy, too. You'll use cash to bribe people for information and to pretend they didn't see you in action, and money also works to upgrade your weapons in between levels (upgrades include new scopes, silences, and more). There are 10-15 weapon upgrades. I handled the standard pistol, and Dragonov sniper rifle, a hammer, a syringe, a kitchen knife, and a remote bomb to do my dirty work.

http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/article/695/695168/hitman-blood-money-20060310054212924-000.jpg
Some people are easily swept off their feet...

Many of the issues we've all worried about in the Hitman series are being addressed. And they're being handled without having to drastically rework the series with major facelifts or by making Hitman something it isn't. IO is very focused on making Blood Money a game of the modern age. Some of the controls might feel aged compared to say, the uncanny fluidity of Prince of Persia, yet, in its own way, IO's game reaches a level of awe it hasn't reached before. The European developer has endeavored to create memorable levels, rich with complex level designs, that match or are better than previous games in the series. Coupled with a profusion of smoother actions and new moves (distraction and disarming moves, for instance), better weapons, and global cash and notoriety systems -- and graphics to promise to be the best yet in the series -- Blood Money will steal your money faster than you can say "Hey, that's a garrote! Acchhhh!"

I adore this series (even though the AI was miles better, I thought contracts wasn't as good as the classic Hitman 2, but still excellent). I will adore this series as long as it goes on (or at least until Vin 'no talent' Diesel takes over the role virtually). I can't wait for this one. Any game that lets you kill Santa has gotta give you that warm feeling in the pit of your stomach.

I like that you can 'permantly' get rid of bodies by dumping them in furnaces or swamps....really love the idea of making it look like accidents too.

There's also a creepy looking Albino guy who is on 47's trail, probably another hitman paide to kill.

Whereas contracts was an expansion pack, this seems like a true sequel. Can't wait.

BTW am I the only one hoping lack of updated info means the Hitman movie is dead?

For you my old pal, I'll give my thoughts on Contracts.

You didn't miss much, really.

The AI WAS massivly improved (for example, they couldn't see through your disguse instantly like they could in SA, but did notice suspicious behavior) and had one or two genuinely great levels (the final level was an action packed, yet hard, homage to leon with Hitman in an appartment building under siege by the cops, and a corrupt police chief who you have to kill...who also is surrounded by the whole department pretty much). The story was a bit fractured, with the end result being that someone was killing all the agency 47 and Diana work for (not really spoilers because it never tells you who and is sort of the set up for Blood money...my money is on it being the albino guy who might be a result of the same cloning project as 47).

It felt like more of an expansion pack, and the level design wasn't classic like SA. It was decent, but Blood Money looks to be like a TRUE sequel.

by Douglass C. Perry

March 30, 2006 - IGN learned today that IO Interactive's special agent 47 will make his debut on Xbox 360 this year in Hitman: Blood Money.

The Xbox 360 game, IGN learned from an independent source close to the English publisher, will be the same in content and in storyline as the current generation versions of Blood Money, but will feature enhanced graphics, lighting and special effects, similar to the way Tomb Raider is on Xbox 360.

IGN believes Hitman: Blood Money will launch simultaneously on all four systems on May 2, 2006. Expect to hear official word from the publisher when Eidos releases its fiscal reports Friday, March 31.

This game has such potential to look amazing on the 360, but it will probably come out looking like... I don't know... some PC port that's not as pretty as Oblivion.

I'm sorry I'm such a graphics whore. I just couldn't live with buying a 360 game that looked like an Xbox one. I'll get it on PC if it's too close, because for each $10 I save, I can "earn" a game.

I've got this friend who's a Hitman disciple. I'd have to be stranded on a desert island to not play it.

And even if I was, he'd somehow find me just to have me play it. :D

I love Hitman games. I only got 2 though, as the first one was god-awful, with 47 looking like a penis (from the demo at least) and Contracts was six levels.

I'm hoping the stealth options have been improved vastly for this one. Something always seemed to go wrong when I was trying to actually be stealthy in the original Hitman games. I know this one has a lot of new features that will change that, so hopefully it's enough. I really hate playing Hitman like a normal shooter where you bust in guns blazing, it takes away from the experience.

I think Vin will do fine as Agent 47. I wish they wouldve just used his likeness in the game. This game does look incredibly kick ass tho. I highly doubt those screens are from the current gen, or if they are, they are polished, they look way to good to be regular Xbox, maybe they are screen from the 360?? Actually, i dont care what system they are from, i cant wait for this game!!!

I've heard that it's best to play on a console.

I got it for PS2. I'm in love with it. I was in love with Hitman 2, but this one is alot better. The improved AI alone. I mean, it was so frustrating that people could see right through your disguise straight away in part 2. But now, they only catch on if you act suspicious or are in a place you shouldn't be. Even then, they don't start shooting you straight away. They're all like, "hey! you shouldn't be here!". The Mardi Gras level kicks ass. I've gotten to the boat level. I've figured out how to get Silent Assassin for every level but one. It feels so good to get Silent Assassin.

I'm very impressed by the amount of NPC characters walking around in the Mardi Gras level. As far as I can see, they all walk around with their own routes, they just don't appear out of thin air. I don't think I've seen that many NPCs in a game before. Too bad the Matrix Path Of Neo game couldn't have done something like that for the Burly Brawl level.

The new features are excellent. Very easy to disarm someone, then shoot whoever else is in the room. I like the coin throwing thing too. The only thing is, since I love trying to hit the Silent Assassin ranking, I have no use for alot of the features. Though I can always go back to a level and just play around. There's this one level were you can rig a barbeque with hilarious results. In the "Santa" level, I felt so badass when I pushed both targets off ledges.

If you like the Hitman series, get this game. If you've never played Hitman, get this game.

kainedamo

Can I ask you guys a question? Does 47 ever scare the crap out of you?

I mean, when you're following someone around, just a few paces behind them, watching their route and waiting for the right moment to strike. When you can get in and out, killing a target and no one ever knowing you were there. When you're knocking out clowns and stealing their outfits. When I do stuff like that, following someone a few paces behind them, I get creeped out.

This game is awesome.

It isn't QUITE as open as the excellent second game, but the enviroments are beautiful, and still quite a variety of ways to do things...not enough oppotunities to use the sniper rifle for my liking but still....there is NOTHING more satisfying than the perfect hit.

Also you get an after action review in the form of a newspaper from the area you have been in...these all come with different stories, as well as the main story (being your mission, and varied descriptions depending on how you acted). For example, if you choose to bribe witness afterwards, they give the police false descriptions, sometimes leading to various humours gems such as 'The suspect is very 'pretty' looking and well dressed.....police are searching all gay bars in the area.'

Fantastic.

I'm heading to what I assume is the final level now...is this the end of 47? That's where it seems to be heading :(

They haven't quite yet- but there is no shame in that, as Hitman 2 is an all time classic. In some ways though Blood Money is a lot better- better ai, better weapos and cusomisation, better storyline and some cracking levels- however, none quite as open as Hitman 2.

Like I say though, Hitman 2 is a classic, and it's hard to top- and Blood Money is still a hell of a worthy endevour

Gammy- it's not half ass at all, I promise. In many ways, it is alot better than Hitman 2- but the ways of doing things are more limited. Believe me, it's still an amazing game- but like I say, after Hitman 2 defined the genre, it's hard to get better than a genre defining game ya know?

I need a major walkthrough for the New Orleans level!

Follow the red Crow that you see when it starts till he gets into an alley with a dumpster. Take him out, take his suit, throw him in the dumpster and take his briefcase. Bring it to the building in the upper left corner, which has a red blip on the second floor of the map. Go to the room with the blip to find the main target. Put the briefcase on his desk, wait for the right moment, kill him and put him in the box in the room. Take his walkie talkie, throw the diamond case off the balcony, then go down and get it.
Since you got his walkie talkie, you will see the other two targets on the map. The girl walks around between alleys and streets, wait till she's in one with an empty dumpster, kill her and put her in. Then find a way to kill the third target, in whatever building he's in. He's always in an upper level, alone. So just sneak into the building (or get a waiters outfit) and take him out.. In order to get SA you'll have to drop the third target from the balcony so it looks like an accident.

Master Chief
06-14-2006, 12:59 PM
When I kill the briefcase carrier I stash him in the first building to the right of where he enters. I open the door, take a left, open the door to the right of the end of the little hallway after passing the stairs, then take the suit and briefcase. I wait for the girl, she comes in, I poison syringe her and stash her in the same room. Also, to get a waiters outfit, if you go in the alley behind the rock bar you can sedate a waiter who comes to throw out trash, then dump his body in the garbage. There's a drunk who wanders in and out, but when he's walking away you can sedate the waiter no problem.

You can also get SA if you leave the diamonds in the second guy's office, which his bodyguard will bring down to the first floor. You can then poison syringe or strangle the guy and stash him in the freezer if you're fast enough, then go down and retrieve the case.

F****k yeah man. I got a fully upgraded M4. In one level I sneak under the parking lot security guard booth window. He comes out. He sees me and he's like, "I've seen your picture somewhere!" Then runs back in to look at some bulletin board. Because my notoriety is like, 61. So badass like I walk in with my silenced SLP.40 and take both of them out with double taps to the chest.

I take one of the cop uniforms, then shoot a cop in the stairs going up from the garage to the lobby of some place. I shoot the clerk security cop at the front desk. I strangle another cop in the garage and a sick party guest, then I jog to where my M4 is. I zoom in with my scope at the four people guarding two elevators, one burst and they're all down. Another cop comes to check, I run up and strangle him. lol

I agree with Thwip- if a game is a port of a ps2/xbox game, no way I would pay like 20 bucks more for the same game. I was thinking about it for Hitman and X3 (ok I am a bit of a gamerscore whore) but decided against it, since ports usually really suck on 360 (so I have heard, and can believe).. It's like paying next gen prices for last gen games imo.

I rented it twice, twenty bucks. Finally bought it for fourty. What a friggin' deal. But with the rentals + retail I could have bought it full price.

Anyway, for the "Till Death Do Us Part" level, for Silent Assassin ranking I did the following:

Follow the pathway straight ahead from where you start, then take a right and you'll see this dancing area far away and a drunk wanderer. Wait until the drunk walks into the cabin looking thing and falls asleep, then take his clothes and party pass and six shooter if you want, enter the house from the front doors. Run around or wait until the main place (with the stairs) is cleared out, or at least until the Staff Only door to the left of the stairs is clear and the patrolling guard isn't near the door.

When it's clear, pick the lock, and take your immediate left into the bedroom. Wait until the gangster guard patrols, then when he's on his way back after coming towards the room, run up and sedate him. Drag him into the bedroom and take his clothes. Wait until the second guy, the skinny one, walks into the main place with the stairs, then poison syringe him. Drag him into the same bedroom you left the guard. Wait until the fat guy does the same, and drag him into the bedroom too. Close the doors, walk out, retrieve your suit and escape.

Awesomeness, thanks a bunch MC. But another question though, how did you kill "the Groom?" He's one of the targets of the mission, that you has to assassinate.

Master Chief
06-25-2006, 10:06 AM
Yeah, the groom walks into the main entrance stairs area eventually. Either going to or leaving a reception looking place at the end of the hall through double doors.

If you don't want SA though, just upgrade your silverballer with a silencer, and the magnum ammo. Do everything up to the time you get the guard clothes, then go to where the fat guy is fishing or something (throwing things into the water with a bucket) and shoot him in the back when the person guarding him is walking away. Swiftly run away free of suspicion and track down the groom, shoot him, then sprint for the exit hoping everyone misses their shots if he's in the open.

Now, theres a much funner way to do it :o

Once you get into the staff only door and take the guards outfit, go through the door behind the stairs, then go outside. Make your way to the family graveyard, and wait in the brush by the open grave. Eventually the father will come walking over with a bucket of chicken. Wait until he is standing infront of the grave, make sure the coast is clear, and push him in.

Then go back to the house and poison the wedding cake, the groom takes a lick every so often.

Once the groom is dead, get back to the beggining and leave.

Bring a sniper rifle

Get your room key
Hide in the left elevator, on the top of it. Kill the scientist (i believe) by strangling him and dragging him onto the roof of the elevator
Take his room key
Hide in the right elevator, kill the other guy the same way
Take his room key
Now take your sniper rifle to your room, unload it, and leave it there ready to fire
Go to the 8th floor, set off the fire alarm, and go into the room of the scientist you killed. Find the phone to call your third target.
Click to call, then immediatly hurry your way back to the 7th floor, and into your room.
Take the sniper rifle to the balcony of your room, and look down toward the right. There is a small rectangle-like alley, which the third target will go into
When he is in your sights, take him out.
Now, you can either leave with your sniper rifle, or the diamond briefcase to get some extra money.

I just beat it, Ill give you a walkthrough.

Go into the hotel and check in, get your card then go into the right elevator, wait fo rthe doors to shut and climb up into the elevator hatch and wait for the white surpremasist scientist to use the elevator you're in, once the elevator starts moving take your fibre wire out and strangle him, take his clothes, keycard, and jump down from the top once the doors are closed. I think the guy (who you just killed)'s room in the back left corner so go there, open the door, and get his briefcase and move back down to the lobby. Once you're in the lobby move into the casino and go through the first door you see on the right at the entrance, go straight through the double doors ahead of you into the bar and move to the back of the bar until you see two guards, they will check you for weapons and then you can proceed. Take a left and then a right and you'll see the shiek. You have to hang out with him for a while, because one of the guards will come, take your suitcase (the one with DNA in it) and go and get it checked to make sure everythings there. Then the Payment briefcase will be brought to you. You should still hang out with the shiek until his phone rings and he walks away to answer the call. Follow him with the payment briefcase until he stops outside and talks on his phone. You can take him out there and just leave his body wherever. Go back thorugh the Casino with the payment Briefcase and go to the elevators again. Take them up to the seventh floor and take a left out of the elevator, keep going straight around the corner and follow the path until you reach a wall with two doors leading to a balcony, theres a guy smoking there, but he just ignores you. Climb the trelis thats inbetween the two doors until you get to a ledge, shimmy to the left on the ledge until you get to a window and climb in (look out, theres a guard who patrols here). Go right and walk around the corner until you get to a staff room, check on the map to see when the staff member isnt facing the door, move in, sedate him, and take his master key card and suit and stuff him in the nearby container. Leave through the door that you came in, and walk straight through the walkway ahead of you, take a left and follow that hallway until you reach a door with a emergency alarm next to it. Pull the alarm and go through the door. Wait in the door until you see that the hallway ahead of you is completely clear, move out into that hallway take a left and follow that hallway to your next targets room, open the doot and go into the bathroom on your left. Wait in there an watch your target on the map wait for the target and his guards to go into the room, and watch him leave his guard and go into his room. He'll walk in and face the window move in while hes facing the window and take him out. Go back through the bathroom again and sedate the guard in that room and take his suit. Walk out of the room and go back to the lift. Climb the hatch, get your payment briefcase, put your suit back on, jump down and walk back out into the lobby, now move into the casino and take a left from the entrance. You should see some double doors with a red exit sign above them, go through that door and the next one and you'll see a limo, thats your escape car.

Or your game has a malfunction. Though the first one seems more likely.

My games fine, and I just beat the level with a Hitman rating. So yeah, turns out you were right about not killing the scientist. Thanks Batman. :)

Hi. I've just started on this game. I have a technical issue to ask. How is it that I can't load a saved game after I quit a game?

I was in the middle of Vintage Year when I thought of hitting the sack. So, I saved the game. Later, when I wanted to load it, my savegame was missing. I was told to Load Profile, then Start the game. It then asked me which mission I want to start (a choice between Death of a Showman, Hideout and Vintage Year). And when I click on Vintage Year, it restarted the mission.

I simply cannot find the savegame I previously saved.

Am I missing something?

No, you're not, that's how the programmers wanted it.

I don't really see why it's a big deal, the missions don't take thaat long to complete.

Danger Mouse, the in-game save is only there while you're... in-game. It's a quick save, so if you f**k somthing up, you can just go back to that point, once you leave a mission it goes away.

I think it'd be kind of homo being able to start back up the next day mid mission, you know?

They meant for you to play it like 47 lives it, you turn it on, get your intel, complete your mission, turn it off.

Sorry THWIP, guess their target audience wasn't senior citizens :O

Yeah, it's a problem because if you have a save and the powers goes out having to restart is total bulls**t, but really, each job in the game is pretty short so the whole quicksave being permanent isn't necessary.

I could understand if my tighty-whiteys were cum stained, as I do have sex quite often, but piss stained? That's more of an 'old' person problem, 'THWIP', but don't feel bad, I hear a lot of men your age have to wear'em.

THWIP, you're not putting any effort into it. The whole stained tighy-whitie thing worked because I'm a teenager who probably masturbates at least, at least 3 times a day, and it was a counter for me making fun of you because you probably can't check your mail without pulling somthing. But sex with animals? What's this?

No, no, no.

It won't do.
