Come on she’s perfect for the Harley Quinn in Nolan’s universe. Great actress great dancer is good in comdey. I could seriously see her as a modern day goth version of harley I don’t think Nolan’s take on the chracters are going to be a frame by frame comicbooky take on the charaters so instead of the jester hat with bells I can see her with a spiked up hair. Like I said total goth female

Honestly...I could see it. Possibly. I think it's pretty obvious she could play Harleen very well, and if she applied what she did in Garden State to Harley (if Harley appears at all), she could play it convincingly. And she most certainly has the acting ability as long as her director isn't named George Lucas.

I just hope they pic a couple who has a great chemistry between them I don’t want to see joker treat Harley like another one of his crew.

In other news...
What makes you think Johansson or McAdams would be a particularly good choice, Dean? I mean, I love them as an actresses, but neither seem all that...spastic to me. Or maybe I just haven't seen the right films...
And I do love Faris for Harley...not so much for Harleen...

I think Natalie Portman is a beautiful, and sexy, and a great actress... but I would never have thought of her as Harley Quinn. Of course I've really only seen her in a few movies, most of which are Star Wars. But that's an interesting idea. And she wouldn't even have to shave her head! On the other hand, I hate seeing good brunettes go blonde, even if only temporarily.

Never would've thought of Natalie Portman as Harley, but those photos of her really remind me a lot of the character. But in Nolan world, I'd like to see Zooey Deschanel as Harley rather than Natalie, though. Natalie seems more suited for a Burton world, IMO. Harley needs to be dark and fun at the same time.

well it depends on how long she would be on screen as harleen quinzel. im sure anna farris could keep a straight face for a short period. personally i dont think we need to see harleen quinzel. joker can just mention how he manipulated her.

Okay I've read perhaps two pages, so forgive me, if someone's said this, which I think they have. Damn, for being late but here it is my list of the who's who villains, which includes Miss Portman somewhere... in there.
Selina Kyle: Kate Beckinsale
Pamela Isley: Isla Fisher
Harley Quinn: Natalie Portman (I'll reserve this because there is someone better than her, I just have to find her, until then she's a benchwarmer)
Joker: Paul Bettany
Any other character: Find better actors, and much better actresses.
Maxwell Smart
03-11-2006, 03:57 PM
I don't like Kate Becinsale. She is a **** actress and she does not have the type of sexiness to her the role requires. Why do you find her sexy?
I also don't see what people see in Angelina Jolie or Rachel McAdams.
My choices for Selina are Rachel Weisz, Jennifer Connelly, and Natalie Portman. They are all sexy in a CLASSY way to me. Selina shouldn't be a skank. Plus I think you need an actress with a bit of an exotic look to her which all of the three actresses I named have in my eyes.
patrickbateman
03-11-2006, 04:04 PM
even i am fed up of Kate Becinsale and her costume adventure seirusly assumed that van helsing was a prequel to underworld. really taught it was a decendant of that character. she should go back and do some comdey movie or some chessy romantic stuff

Another stooge who can't fight Batman, she isn't needed, they need someone that can (pull the damn camera back and) showcase Batman's fighting skills, fight him toe-to-toe. Neither Joker, Two-Face or Harley Quinn is going to do this.

She's important to the character of the Joker, it shows how manipulative he can be. The Joker is able to corrupt a sweet, innocent intern into a killing monster - not only that but he is able to make her fall so deeply inlove with him that she accepts his treatment of her and still comes back.

KILLER CROC, for one, and an intellect like Mr. Freeze would work, as well.Killer Croc's no more of a main villain than Harley - he has very little depth beyond the physical threat he poses. Freeze would hold up, but he really doesn't have the team-up capacity Harley does with the Joker.
Again, we're not talking about Harley having her own film or anything - just having her in Arkham as Dr. Harleen Quinzell, then possibly a cameo as Harley.

And if they were to ever use her, for some reason I can picture her playing Vicki Vale. It's definitely not her looks, because she obviously doesn't look like the character(then again, Cillian Murphy looks nothing like Crane), but I could just picture her playing Vale.

Not at all. Portman's a very strong woman. It's one of the reasons she was selected to play Padmé Amidala in the Prequels... even if Lucas somehow got her to subdue nearly all of her personality.
If Natalie's ability to play strength or maturity is EVER in question, I will direct you to one film, and one film only.
Leon: The Professional.
She was, what, eleven? Twelve? And she was so mature and edgy in that movie it was honestly frightening. She's a great actress.
And, she looks like Selena Kyle as drawn by Jim Lee. Especially with that short hair she's got now. And she has a body like Jim Lee drew her, too.
Yeah, I think this is the single greatest idea I have EVER heard.

^Oh yes,I think she could play the serious part to the character just as good.

Lotta people wanted Brittany Murphy a few years ago on this board. Still a good choice. McAdams, Cuthbert are good choices. I saw a picture of Evageline Lilly that made me think "Hell yes" for her. But I know some people cant see it. I wouldnt mind. Jennifer Love Hewitt is a personal choice I thought about but no one is trying to see that, so I'll quietly leave that.
I saw Isla Fisher as Poison Ivy but she might be a good Harley. Who else? Reese Witherspoon? I thought of Sarah Michelle Gellar too.Mia Kirshner too

I'm totally in. Natalie for Selina....I'm not absolutely hooked on it but I think it would work VERY well....at least way better the previous screen incarnations.
Nothing wrong with either of those, in fact...Mila Kunis could work as Talia me thinks.

Well, let me clarify that remark. I have no reason to suspect that Mila Kunis could play the role, but that doesn't mean I'm not curious to know if she could. I'd like to see her in a movie where she gets to play a meatier role (as opposed to spoiled brat). Then I will decide.

OH AND AMERICAN PSYCHO 2 SUCKED SUCKED SUCKED CAN U IMAGINE Mila Kunis KILLING PEOPLE? OH HOW SCARY IS THAT ? You know I think it's pretty damn ignorant to pass judgement on something you HAVEN'T ****ING SEEN. I've seen American Psycho 2 and I will say this. She was actually very convincing as a sociopath. I liked her performance a lot. The movie itself could have been alot better, it had some problems. But it's like with Cillian Murphy, alot of people had only seen him in 28 Days Later prior to Begins. 28 Days Later was a sucky movie but Murphy still gave a good performance. That is how I feel about Mila Kunis in AP2.
And just because you've only happened to have seen her on Thar 70s Show you come to the conclusion she can only play Jackie; that shows to me you have a lack of imagination. Besides, are you aware she's not American? She came to this country from the Ukraine at like 9 or 10 years old. But she is able to do a perfect American accent. And the character she plays on That 70s Show is obviously very different from her background, but she is able to fit right into the part. So considering that, and her performance in AP2, I think she must be a pretty good actress. Exactly how good, I'm not sure, she hasn't been in enough yet. But she definitely can play more than just Jackie.

Dude my name is Patrick Bateman?? Hello as in THE American psycho??? What makes you think I haven’t seen American psycho 2 I’ve seen it sucked bad acting bad performance don’t get me started on Mila Kunis she was unbelievably annoying, having a grating tone in her voice. It WAS worth the $3 rental. YOU LIKED her performance a lot? Well for you sociopath must have a totally different meaning
If anything, this film at least presented the incredibly sexy image of a cute little condom wielding psychopath, running around a cheap-looking college campus in low cut dresses/tops. Yes, it lacked the psychology, irony and genius of the first film and it's source, but you can't deny she's gorgeous. Really, I laughed my ass off with this movie, but it didn´t scare me, I think it´s more like a spoof of scary movies. It sucked a bit for me cus I watched the trailer, and unfortunately you can see the end in the end of the trailer. still a very funny movie. American Psycho (the original) is, to put it simply, one of the best movies ever made. It is darkly funny, and yet sophisticated, and make a subtle statement about society, the 80's, and many other things. American Psycho is a movie that is very deep, despite the appearance of a shallow killer flick. People are STILL debating what American Psycho is about, what it means, who is Patrick Bateman. The movie is awesome on all levels.
Then Lion's Gate releases this crap. It's a desecration. Watch the first one, words cannot describe how amazingly bad American Psycho II is. The only thing half-way decent about it is the first 10 minutes which feature Patrick Bateman, but of course, he's killed off in the most unrealistic and idiotic way possible. This movie script was written by a 3-year-old, skip this movie at all costs. Lion's Gate is a terrible movie company.
If you want why don’t we make a poll in the film forums where everyone who’s seen American psycho 2 will review mila’s so called performance in the movie, what do u say u up for it.

IMO Catwoman is one of the more intresting of Batman's rogue, she is a character that plays on both of his levels (Batman and Bruce) which few really do. In the last few movies Bruce Wayne was often over shadowed by Batman, a character like Selina Kyle/Catwoman would do much for both sides.

You're right about the way B'89 had short people and BB has tall ones (by and large).
But I will point to two things:
1.) Cillian Murphy appears to be rather short, especially for Scarecrow. Didn't matter because he was creepy as hell. Thus I think if Natalie has the chops (first and foremost) and the looks overall (she does) then the height thing ain't that big a deal.
2.) Michael Caine actually looks fairly like Alfred... if he had the 'stache it'd be about perfect. The only thing is that he's a bit older than his comic counterpart (who usually has black hair) and not as bald as he usually is portrayed (though the hair is certainly thinning on Caine) but the older age of the character probably makes sense if he was Thomas and Martha's butler, too. To be fair, he looks more like Alfred than Michael Gough does (though I love Gough) and especially more like Alfred than Alan Napier (egad).

Comic Alfred is much thinner than Caine. Caine is kind of a brick. Comic Alfred was always a twiggish type guy. They're both old and english, though.

That's all very very true. But I'm talking more about the face. Caine's definitely taller and thicker than comic Alfred, but the planes of his face are similar (when Alfred is drawn as an older guy, anyway). Plus, unless I'm much mistaken, Caine was thinner when he was younger, so the thicker body could be attributed to his age, which, again, appears to be more advanced than that of comic Alfred.

True, true. But that, to me, only furthers the point -- the casting of Michael Caine was, in and of itself, karmic balance for previous Alfreds. Yes, he alone balances out all of them. ;)

Now I could see that. Michael Caine is possibly my favorite actor of all time, so not only did his casting balance out the past Alfreds, but made up for the past few Batman movies and all of the 60's.

I like Harley Quinn, but The Joker survived for years without her. Somehow I doubt we're going to see her in BATMAN 2. It does kinda make sense to bring her in in BATMAN 3, though. Someone has to help The Joker escape if Batman takes him to Arkham.

Well, yeah sometimes her voice can get kinda high in pitch... but, hell, Michele Pfieffer changed her voice for Catwoman... it's kinda like any actor who plays Batman needs to change his voice when the mask is on. Same way for Catwoman.

Dear Lord! The world has gone mad! Natalie Portman, as the beloved Selina Kyle? Yeah, and Jake Brokeback Man, is Joker! In a bloody pig's eye! By Krypton, you've all gone mad, Kate Beckinsale, the wonderful beauty is fit to play Selina Kyle, and her mischievous alter ego Catwoman, dazzling brilliance, a bit of tease here and there, she's quite purfect.
Natalie, dearest me, I do believe I've stated what part she might play. Should Mister Nolan, have the galls to put her in a Batman movie. Now I will say, yes to Bettany as Mista J, but Natalie I cannot. Now I'm not here to insult other actresses, but les you start.
Which you have! Kate Beckinsale, has the bones to play Selina. Now Rachel, as darling as she is, no. Jennifer! NOT ANOTHER DOUBLE DIPPER! Haven't you heard of a woman by the name of Halle Barry? Played Storm then CATWOMAN! If they are already napped in by Marvel, do not, do NOT. Include them on a DC list, bad enough we have X-Men crossing over to DC.
Cyclops playing Jimmy in the latest Superman flick, and Halle's horrible Catwoman, if anyone should be called skank it was her right then and there! Otherwise she is a respectable woman. As is Kate, she's a tease the darling truly is. But I can see, you have a dislike, I can understand, but then again, Natalie, no just not her, I will look for a replacement, but God forbid Natalie to touch the hands of Selina Kyle!
You have to find a woman, that can really protray Selina, and protray her honestly. A woman, with Selina's background requires someone who might relate to a broken home, and a wretched way of survival.
I'll be on the lookout for a worthy soul of Catwoman/Selina Kyle, but Natalie darling no. She may find much better roles to suit her career, such as V for Vendetta. So until I can find a replacement, my interim Selina Kyle choice is Kate Beckinsale, until I find a girl more worthy of the role.
Which is more than just looks by the way, although a worthy nemesis for Portman is Beckinsale, based on tolerance alone. It takes a lot to put up with roles, such as Underworld, and Van Helsing... Star Wars Episode III.
One more thing, at least we can agree on disliking Angelina Jolie, that I will 100% agree with you on.

Can you please name one reason why Portman CAN NOT play Selina Kyle? Portman presence always shows her as a very strong woman (IMO), something strongly needed in a Selina Kyle. She has the look as well, the brilliant Keyser Sushi posted a pic comparision between Portman and Jim Lee's Catwoman - it is almost spot on. Portman is one of the best young actresses out there, and if they ever bring Selina Kyle/Catwoman into the mix - there are none more suited than Portman.

Short of a porn star, you'll never find a woman who has the body of Harley, or Wonder Woman, or any other female comic character. With that in mind, Portman's no worse off than most other actresses. Especially if you want to get one that actually has a fair bit of talent.

I do have reasons why Natalie won't be a good CW. But seems that we're past this so, Scarlett? She is very beautiful, that is true, but, I'm not sure she could handle it. Remember Harley was that young intern, that was seduced by the wicked bad boy of all bad boys Joker.
