OMG I THINK I JUST SPLOOGED MY PANTS! OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS, THIS IS THE BEST INFORMATION EVER TO HIT THIS BOARD. I love this game this one killed any game I have ever played the story and gameplay were deinfatly next gen and it was on a PS2. OMG what is the story going to be like? I really need to know those pictures kill man. My friend and I think the story is going to be that you want to kill Zesus for a certain reason not going to say but if you know then good for you. Anyways and that he knows the little secret so your going after him and he's scared so he goes into hiding so you go around all of Oplympus and you are trying to kill every god to get information out of them and then you find out that he has this tower that like no one can reach so thats why you go to kill Ircarus to get his wings so that you can go up and get him. However the sun becomes a problem so you have to now go fight Appolo the sun god and make him not rise the sun for a while.

Dude I can't wait for this game, sony is a freakin genuis for having this as a launch title for PS3 and I'm so glad that this is coming out for PS2 because for those who don't have PS3 or don't want it but has a PS2 they can still play this amazing game.

I don't really see how GoW would translate all that well in terms of being that much better on the next gen hardware. I can see ading more enmies, brutaller graphics and blood physics, but it's not such a huge thing that I'm dissapointed by GoW2 being on the PS2. GoW3 will make that jump and be awesome, just like GoW1/2 are.

Whoever gets Gameinformer, if they could get us scans so we can actually read the text, that would be awesome.

Sony has confirmed that the Playstation 3 will be around $300-$400. Don't buy into those bulls**t rumors that say it will be higher than that price range. Remember when there were rumors saying that the Playstation Portable was going to be over $200 and some were saying that it was going to be up to $500. Plus selling a console over $500 is going to be market suicide/retardedness.

We have to wait and see. If rumors such as God of War 2, Resistance: Fall of Man, Unreal Tournament 2007, and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (this one is unlikely), being launch titles are true then the Playstation 3 launch will devastate the launch line up that was for the Xbox 360.

However the Xbox 360 will have some pretty damn cool games itself. It has the Dead or Alive, Halo, Ninja Gaiden, and Fable franchises behind its belt. Also Morrowind IV: Oblivion and Gears of War are going to be cool.

In the end it depends on who has the better games.

I remember when you walked past the conveyor belts to the room with Pandora's Box, there was a mural on the floor that said something like "A mortal fighting Zeus depicting the future" which I found to be somewhat foreshadowing of a future game and ofcourse there's the video at the end when you beat God mode.

First off I want to appologize to Zenien for being such an *******, it's really hard to understand people when they say a comment because you don't have the tone of voice to back up what they say and I took it as a negative comment towards myself. So I am sorry Zenien because I missed your please you were very polite and there were some words that I missed because it looked like you were flaming me out for talking about PS3 games so again I appologize.

Now that that's out of the way I want to first off say what I think God of War is going to be about. Now I think God of War 2 is going to be this huge climax between Krato's and Zesus I think that he is going to try to kill Zesus for a reason (Beat God mode then you'll know) and he is going to try and kill him however like I said before Zesus will go into hiding in some sort of structure that would take years to climb for a mortal but before you can do that you have to go around and kill every god and get what they offer to you. Then you figure out this structure and know that you can't climb it so you go looking for Iccarus where you get the wings made out of wax, you go to the structure and fly up it a little while when all of a sudden the sun begins to melt them and the objective is to fly down as fast as you can before they melt. Then you go and talk to appolo who is protecting Zesus by putting the sun on the structure so you can't get up there so you go and fight him and he's in his chariot and he flies and what you do is fly after him but if you get to close then your wings will melt so you have to speed ahead and then get some distance in front of him and slash the horses with athena's blades. Then once you kill Apollo the Structure is now yours to get into however Zesus still puts up a fight so he goes into Hades and gets your brother to fight for him since your brother like hates you. So now you have to try to kill your brother and Zeus at the same time so since you are out numbered Krato's will do the unthinkable. Rally up an old dead allie. He will bring back a God from death.

Thank you, I know David Jaffe was really wanting to do that in the first game however the gameplay mechanic was being a pain and lagging a lot. Plus there was really no story to tell the Icarus wings however hopefully in the second one they do my idea or something along the lines of it. I think it was confirmed they are in the game on the Gamespot boards.

I think the title could relate to either the Zeus or Kratos' brother ideas. Kratos obviously wants revenge against Zeus for abandoning him and his brother wants revenge on Kratos for abandoning him aswell.

An idea similar to yours, Lizard is with the huge mountain Zeus retreats to. Since Kratos is the God of War now, he is able to open up the first door leading into the mountain. Inside the mountain are traps and puzzles leading to the next floor. At the floor, there is an exit to the cliffs surrounding the mountain and leads to the entrance to the next level. A god is guarding the entrance to each level and challenges Kratos to a fight. At the end, Kratos would gain a new item (like the Icarus Wings or Aretmis Blade), spell (like Army of Hades), or upgrade (health or magic, replacing the Gorgon's Eyes or Phoenix Feathers). Once Kratos gains entrance to Zeus' quarters, he fights him but fail to finish him. Zeus retreats to Hades. There he encounters Ares and fights him. He loses the battle, but his brother appears and "kills" Ares. Kratos fights his brother and win the battle. Zeus appears telling him he lured you to Hades to destroy his brother since he was the only one with the power to do so. Kratos refuses to kill his brother. Zeus is outraged and engages in another fight with Zeus. Kratos wins the fight is about to finish Zeus off. The other gods appear. Hades tells Kratos if he spares Zeus life, his brother would be freed from Hades and able to live on earth as a mortal. Kratos agrees and his brother is returned to earth.

For some reason, I don't want Kratos to get revenge upon Zeus, atleast not in this game. I mean, If the game were about beating Zeus, then you have kind of Reached the top of Greek Mythology. What would he do in the next game? Nothing could top it. I would want to see him fight Zeus i nthe final game of the series (which I hope is a LONG way away). I mean there are dozens of stories from Greek Mythology that they could use that would make an awesome game (personally, I would like to see Kratos help the Gods defend Olympus from the Gigantes).

For this next one, I can see his brother trying to take control of Hades from...well...Hades in order to build an army big enough to assault Kratos and the rest of the Gods. Kratos can't be well liked in Hades (I mean it seems that half of the souls down there were killed by him.) Kratos has to stop his brother from gaining control of Hades by way of maiming and puzzle solving and what not...

On a side note: Did the movie at the end say who the father of Kratos' brother was?...Is it possible for him to be a descendant of a God too? And if so, Zeus is a very egotistical and jealous God, it's possible he could he make Kratos seek vengeance upon the God who had sex with one of Zeus' women.

I like this idea as well...

The only question I would have is that all of Kratos' magic and weapons are gifts from other Gods. If he was seeking out Zeus, why wouldn't the Gods take their gifts back? The only thing I can think of is what if Kratos somehow starts an uprising among the Gods and their is a Civil War between them. The Gods on Kratos side would lend him their power to usurp Zeus.

The only question I would have is that all of Kratos' magic and weapons are gifts from other Gods. If he was seeking out Zeus, why wouldn't the Gods take their gifts back? The only thing I can think of is what if Kratos somehow starts an uprising among the Gods and their is a Civil War between them. The Gods on Kratos side would lend him their power to usurp Zeus.

I'd assume he'd have returned the gifts from the gods after he defeated Ares and would just have the Blades of Athena since they're seared to his skin and Athena is his wife.

They could always have Kratos fight the titans. I know the game said Kronos was the last surviving one, but in the myths the other titans are sealed in Tartarus. There also the big monsters like Typhon and Echidna for Kratos to fight.

That'd interesting. Have Kratos' brother escape Hades to Tartarus and release the Titans. Then Kratos lead the gods against them. Then Kratos fights the titans and releases the captive god (giving him an item, upgrade, or spell) to reach his brother as the final boss.

I do like the idea of him teaming up with Ares to fight Zeus and his brother, but it still seems to me like this would be the "final" chapter of the saga. No offense, but I'm not really digging the whole Ares can become the lead God after Zeus dies and take over the world idea. I mean Kratos beat Ares once, and that was befoer he was a God, I don't see how Ares would pose that much of a threat now that Kratos is a God too. If you had it so that Ares isn't alone in his quest to rule over Olympus and earth, then I think it would work a lot better.

But I do really like the general idea of teaming up...In fact, why would Kratos necessarily have to team up with Ares? Ares is most likely in Hades (well Tartarus but you get the idea) and this is also where Kratos' brother is...Why don't those two team up to exact revenge on Kratos whom they both hate. The only way Kratos could defeat them would be to team wit Zeus himself, which of course Kratos hates...

Because Zesus wants Krato's brother to protect him from Krato's that why his brother and Zesus teams up or something and promises him revenge. Like I can see it now you are fighting Zesus and you think its over and you have a sliver of health left and Zesus falls to the ground and pretends to be wounded and then he hits you with a cheap shot and you got flying into a wall clinging onto life and then he calls into the darkness and through the darkness bright yellow eyes break through the colorless shadow and out steps your brother ready to render you limb from limb. And maybe he kills you and you have to fight your way out of hades again and thats how Ares ties in you see him and you know what you have to do. What if you could make choices in God of war 2 that effect the games story like "Would you like to team up with Ares or leave it to a true monster." or something I think that would be tight. Also the whole Ares taking over Olympous by himself I think maybe he should team up with all of hades and maybe Hades himself because maybe he backs up Krato's decision to kill Zesus because didn't Hades want Olympous in Greek Mythology? I think this story is going to be tight because watch Jaffe will make a story none of us would ever think of.

But I liked one of the ideas in the extra movies, where the modern military find the corpse of the last titan, with the temple on his back, and stumble into it. It would be familiar, yet totally different in a lot of ways. But any sequel is great. But if he is a god now, won't it make it too easy?

Exactly its something that is so unlikely that its almost amazing its like a kid who hates his dad but is failing at life and has to drive the twenty five miles to see the sight that makes your stomach clecnh and knot however you need money/his help. I still know its like no possibility but I think if we are going up against Zeus then I think its very possible Krato's would stoop this low since none of the other gods would help him. Ares hates Zeus because he casted his favor on Athena so of course Ares would jump at the chance to kill his father that he hates with a passion. I'm still digging this story:)

What if after you over throw Zeus and your brother and stuff that Ares is bound on turning against you again and this time he hits you low by bringing back everyone you killed while doing your duties for him. He brings them all back from the dead from Hades and he hits you low by bringing back you dead family or something crippling you and then at the end of God Of War 2 the screen goes black and all we hear is Ares Voice "Are you ready now ready to serve your master?" or "Are you ready to join superiority?" or "Join the dark side because we get to wear black armor and capes!"

God of War 2: Devine Retribution

Open to: Sky line

We panel along the skies that is dominated by a sea of clouds, the white gas then turns orange as dawn raises her rose red fingers and casts light on all of Greece. We panel along the ruins of Athens’s seeing that it is still ruined however many civilians work hard to change that. We panel along more until we come to the Aegean Sea, we then start soaring high and higher the camera reaching such a speed it makes our eyes hurt. It panels up for two more seconds until we see the infamous figure, the Ghost of Sparta Krato’s the God of War. We look at him studying the new blades that he received from Athena in gratitude for stopping her city from reaching total annihilation. We watch as Krato’s looks over the city that he has saved. We then panel over to see the very sword that is still covered in the blood of a God, Ares. We then panel out to see that it is reflecting in Krato’s eye he then looks at the sky.

FLASH BACK

We watch as multiple images come flashing back to him from out recent crusade looking to murder the god of war. We watch as he defeats the Hydra, we watch as he goes through the desert of lost souls and goes into Pandora’s temple gets Pandora’s box and has to escape Hades it’ self and then defeat Ares and protect his family. We then watch it all close up with him sitting on his thrown and played in a faded washed out image we watch the sword stab through the throat of Ares.

Present

We watch as Krato’s screams in agony towards the skies pissed off as the words are said.

Athena: “We promised that you would be forgiven of your past, but we never said the nightmares would stop haunting you. No man or god could ever forget the terrible deeds that you have done.”

Krato’s now has a face of defeat on his face. He then looks at the camera.

Krato’s: “My past?”

All of a sudden we are rushed back through time at such lighting speed we can only get bits and pieces of things portrayed on the screen but some are new to us and we are educated in some of Krato’s past.

GAMEPLAY

The game play screen opens up with us in a town it is night time and we see there are still children running around and playing. There are wife’s who are making dinner for the family in the comfort of there own homes. We then have the objective of going forward because for some reason the house at the end of the street we are on for some reason gives off a sort of vibe of importance. We make it all the way there and a cinematic plays.

Movie: The Truth

We watch as the wooden door opens up and Krato’s peek's his head inside of the house like a child. He opens up the door and walks in very quietly his eyes focused on something that is behind the camera.

Female Voice: “Krato’s?”
We watch as a smile is caste on Krato’s face, he walks forwards into the camera covering it in black.

Cut To: An old woman in a bed.

We watch as Krato’s comes up to the bed and kisses the old woman who is sitting in it. She looks very ill but has strength to kiss Krato’s back on the forehead.

Krato’s: “How are you doing mom?”

Krato’s mother smiles and chuckles but is then followed by a cough.

Mother: “I’ve obviously felt better than this. I feel like Hades it’s self.”

Krato’s laugh a little at his mom’s humor, he then looks towards the fire letting the light dance on his snow white body. He looks at it with such intensity it scares his mother.

Mother: “Krato’s, what’s wrong?”

Krato’s stares at the fire a little while more, he then looks at his mom.

Krato’s: “Mom…”

That’s when Krato’s mother breaks his sentence.

Mom: “Krato’s please not this again, can’t you see I don’t have long to live I am ill and the God of Medicine isn’t doing a damn thing about it. Why do you have to bring this up now?”

Krato’s: “Because you always find a way to twist it and turn it and avoid it! I have the right to know! I want to know and I need to know. I don’t think it’s fair that you would keep this from me!”

Krato’s Mother sighs and shakes her head.

Mother: “Why is this that important to you, why? You’ve lived such a good life not knowing why is it so imperative that you do?”

Krato’s gets up out of his seat and walks over towards the window. He looks out it stalling and then looks back to his ill mother.

Krato’s: “Because I have the right to know who my father is, I want to know the reason why he abandoned us. I want to know why he left I want to know what it is that I came from!”

Krato’s Mother sighs and a tear rolls downed her weathered face. She looks at Krato’s and shakes her head.

Mother: “I can’t.”

Krato’s steps forward.

Krato’s: “Why not! I have the right to know!”

The mother looks at him.

Mother: “Krato’s I want to tell you but something bad will happen if I do, something so terrible that it may be the fate of your existence and I don’t want to risk it.”
Krato’s looks at her and laughs.

Krato’s: “Mother I have defeated some of the greatest warriors and armies. I have easily evaded death when it came breathing down the back of my neck I am prepared for anything.”

His mother has a tormented look on her face.

Mother: “Even if it means you have to kill me?”

And at the end of that very sentence something surprises us as we watch Krato’s mom leap out of bed and starts twitching so violently, her hair grows longer, her muscles expand and her face turns into a demonic face her teeth gets really sharp and she rips off her clothes. She screams a shriek of torment and rushes after Krato’s.

GAMEPLAY Tutorial

The objective of this tutorial is to kill Krato’s mother and learn the controls at the same time. The fight takes place in close quarters so there’s not a lot of room to evade devastating attacks so you need to go all out with this fight with no Hesitation.

Movie: Handle?

We watch Athena’s blades make a quick and swift precise cut across his mother’s neck chopping it cleanly off of the shoulders it was attached to. We watch as a geyser of blood sprays everywhere. We watch as Krato’s stares in shock at the beast his mother has become and obviously he wasn’t ready to kill his own mother. He then throws the blades to the ground in frustration as emotions come rushing over him.

Voice: “Krato’s.”

Krato’s looks at the camera and is shocked to see his mothers head on the ground still being able to talk even though death is claiming her. He walks over and picks up her servered head and looks at her.

Krato’s: “Mother, I am so sorry.”

*******SPOILERS******

We watch as blood drips from her mouth but she fights to speak one word.

Mother: “Zeus.”

I think the best idea anyone's had so far was for Kratos's brother and Ares team up and Kratos. That would kick major ass. A prequel would also be cool, like DMC3. Just as long as they don't ruin the sequel, like DMC2.

Dude the trailer I believe is shown in the Game Informer I picked one up and read the whole article and read it all and it was amazing it was like ten pages the one that I read. It had a cool two page thing where it shows the trailer that was shown to that audience and it has Kratos rip out the Cyclopse eye and then he stabs his foot into the ground and the cyclops opens his mouth in agony and Kratos shoves the eye into its open mouth and then upper cuts the thing so it closes it mouth and chokes on its own eye! I think that is amazing but what sucks is Jaffe isn't the creativity director he didn't pass the torch but he let someone else take over Kratos for this game:( However the game still looks and sounds amazing and I can't wait for the story. To bad you don't get to kill Zesus in this one:( However what did it mean by Kratos trying to change his fate? I mean are they going to have it be a Prince Of Persia where he is going to change his fate and save his wife but then Ares is still alive and Athena's city falls? I don't know this is tough but it leaves me now with some new ideas. I can't wait to do the big chariot thing in the game informer it shows the sisters of fate who has this chairot that keeps them from falling off of the edge of the earth and it seems amazing.

Oh and what really disappoints me is that Jaffe didn't want to put God of War 2 on the PS3 because the PS3 supposedly he said was so powerful that it makes his game look like nothing spectacular because its on a next-gen console and even the crappiest games will look gorgerous so they wanted to just stay with the PS2 because it will be easy to develop and have graphics that will blow your mind away and keep the originality the first game had. I think that was a smart move by Jaffe and it would be nice to see it on next gen but he made the right move.

Been busy. Life's been pretty hectic as of late. College, work and too many good movies and games to distract. I've been occassionally lurking around though...the boards were pretty stale for quite some time before I started to post again.

They've got some wierd thing now that IP bans him as soon as he gets here. Even though he's been switching his IP, he gets banned before making an account.

If Sony really wanted to, they could just make a prettier God of War II like Ubisoft did with Peter Jackson's King Kong. They do own Santa Monica Studios. Two GOWII's means more money.

I'm GLAD this isn't a PS3 launch title. The less launch title games the PS3 has, the less I feel like I have to get it at launch. At this rate, I'll be able to wait until MGS4 is launches before I get a PS3.
