Title from Lenny at Sweet.
Casting calls for a
Nurse
And a Newsreporter.
Hmmm why isnt there a casting call for ZOD?

They would probably already have someone in mind, so they dont need to send out a casting call.
I just read an interesting spec about Zod taking over Lex's body, which could be what the "super-powered Lex" is all about.
I'm not sure I like that idea. I think I prefer Brainiac to be blended with Lex.
I think its a bit early in the game for Lex to fuse with Brainiac and learn all his secrets but whatever.

Probably because they want to keep it a Surprise / Secret ? Or maybe he shows up when Clark gets trapped in the Phantom Zone ? aka NOT this Episode but before it
I've never checked out sweet. Do you have a link please?
Biggest surprise. Brandon Routh IS Zod.

I actually would not be surprised if it turned out to be Dean Cain. Since he said he would Guest Star & the Writers etc really want Dean Cain to Guest Star & heck after him himself playing Superman that would be quite a change going from Superman to his old Clark Kents Characters Enemy
Dean Cain would be a great choice. He looks like the postcrisis version of Zod.
I dont think the majority liked him as Superman anyways, he was really lame.

I liked Dean as Clark Kent on Lois & Clark, He was fantastic as Clark Kent. But as SUPERMAN, that's another story .
I'll say that When he was SUPERMAN with Lois in the scene Dean was good. But in General. I'll leave it at that.

I think they probably have already chosen Zod and that's why we haven't heard spoilers regarding that casting. The probably went to a relatively known actor or to someone from the Superman movie mythology such as Cain or Hackman.
The title vessel indicates that someone will probably take over someone else's body. Could also be the return of Lion-El...lol

I think he'd be a good one for Zod, he played a heavy in one thing I saw him in (I think it was a Law and Order episode) and he did a good job I thought but I just looked at his IMDB listing... he's working on a film that's shooting right now, so he may not be available.

Um wouldnt Lex become Braniac & not Zod ? I dont see how Braniac becoming Lex makes Braniac Zod. Braniac is in Lex at the time :p
& personally I hate this idea. But I guess maybe Masters have to do othe Shows etc so they need an excuse with him not being there so for the time being he becomes Lex & Lex becomes Braniac. With Lex being Zods right hand man since hes like rich & all. Maybe we will finally get a kick ass Lex VS Clark Show Down

You'll note I said James Marsters will be Zod. There was a rumour floating around a while back that Brainiac was created in the image of Zod.
This way if Brainiac blends with Lex, then we no longer need the Brainiac character and James Marsters is free to play the character of Zod.
Does that make sense?

Then Lex would know everything about Clark & I think that is too soon & once again Lex will get a memory erase & damn how many times have that dude got a Memory Erase these last 5 years ? I can deal with the fact that Lex blending with & becoming Braniac for a while due to the fact Masters might be needed else where & this will be their excuse. But Id prefer them getting another actor for Zod.

I said that whole "Braniac is created in Zod's image" awhile ago, and people acted like I was nuts. Personally i love the idea. Marsters should of been Zod in the first place. If Zod comes out looking huge next to Clark, it takes away from his mystic. The only Zod that has ever really worked, was in first two Superman films.
As to Lex/Brainac there is a long standing history of it. The combination of Braniac and Lex has always been one of, if not the toughest villian Superman has ever had to deal with. I like the idea that Brainiac could make Lex think he was losing it again. Lex looking in the mirror and seeing Brainiac. Hearing voices.

Surely Braniac would not when he feels like blends with Lex. If that were to happen some deal would probably be made & Lex lets him in. I think things would be much easier for Braniac to get in if Lex just LETTED him in & besides Lex WILLINGLY willing to do something like that shows how far hes willing to go  If Lex knew he was Alien Super Powered with Knowledge Im sure the first thing Lex would do is go after Clark

I'll bet Lionel is the Vessel. That's what I'm thinking - oracle *and* vessel.
If that happens, then James Marsters could very well be playing Zod.As much as I think Marsters would make an awesome Zod, I hope they don't take that route. I prefer keeping the villains separate. It also makes sense from a syndication POV (which they DO think about.) The same actor playing two *major* villains spanning more than one season can get very confusing for folks who miss episodes. That said, if Marsters ends up as Zod, I hope he stays that way. IOW, they shouldn't bring Brainiac back unless he's possessing Lex, or something along those lines. You don't want audiences going into an episode and wondering which character Marsters is at any given time. It would be really confusing that way.

Question: Will we be seeing Zod or Jor-El this season on Smallville? — Eddie
Ausiello: Yes, they'll both pop up in the season finale — but they won't be who we think they are. And here's another finale superscoop: Lois and another major character will end up on an airplane that's locked in autopilot — and there's only one person who knows where it's headed. (Hint: He looks like a platinum-topped vampire we once knew and loved.)
Question: Any Smallville scoop would be appreciated. — Bill

I just put myself in his place. If went out walking the dogs, I wouldn't want it to pop up on message board. The little "details" are what most people want to read, but it creeps me out and makes me feel bad for him.Hmm. There's so many different ways of looking at this, and feeling bad for him is definitely one of 'em. On one level, it sux when your work clothes make you stand out like a sore thumb in public places. It sux when everybody knows you, but you don't know them. It sux when you're so adored by millions of fans, they talk about you on Internet message boards, sometimes in embarrassing ways. It sux when you have whole families that walk up to you and interrupt you when you're minding your own business eating, or walking your dog(s)...
Then again, I wish *I* could bring my pets to work with me. I wish public parks in Boston didn't have an issue with walking dogs off the leash. I wish my employer treated me with kid gloves knowing I was irreplaceable. I wish I had my own live-in trailer for days when I had to work out of the office. I wish I made a couple of a million dollars a year doing the things I loved, and that I didn't need twelve plus years of higher education and ungrateful internships to do it...

Pat, you are as always full of eloquence.
I think when you decide to become a public figure you have to learn to accept that people will be interested in what you are doing at any given point of the day. It's us common folk's way of "making them real". You don't wan't that then maybe you change your focus to somewhere.... I don't know.... behind the camera instead...... ?

Exactly, and honestly, if being greeted politely by a family while walking his dogs is the worst thing that happened to him that day, then I'd say he had a pretty good day. I'm not convinced he was all that bothered by it anyway, but still, if you're going to be on tv, people being interested in what you do beyond the camera comes with it. I don't agree with disrupting someone's privacy, or the lengths the some people go to, or the paparazzi. But someone who's a fan and approaches you in a respectful way and then shares their excitement with other fans shouldn't be seen as an invasion.

Okay, so it was a little crude, but he is mortal. (I know it's hard to believe, but he is.) I was going to write something long, but instead I'll just leave it at this ...
I know that Pat knows how much attention you get just for running a fan site. If it gets too much, you can just shut the site down. The lucky celebs who want to shut their "site" down have the luxury of getting out of the biz (which you can't do very easily when you're on a TV show contract) or self-destructing. The frequency of both of those things in Hollywood should be enough to tell us that this isn't a reasonable consequence of their career choice. Passing it off as something they should have expected is very short-sighted.
LOL,So is this a disgusted twiddle or a contemplative twiddle?Neither.

I wonder..
It seems like the hardest choices for Clark involve showing how he does have limitations. Remember Martha saying to him, after Jonathan's death, "Could you have chosen between them?" Perhaps that was a bit of foreshadowing?
Maybe it is Lois and Martha in the plane (after all, mythology has had Supes saving Lois in a plane before) and his choice is to save either the plane from a certain crash, or... Chloe (since it's not an L person, and Chloe has become his "sidekick" recently).
Lana will be on the sidelines having tea with Lex and keeping score, I guess. :D
Oh wait! I just thought of something even tougher! Maybe it's Lois and Lex in the plane, and the choice is between saving them or Martha!
That's a more interesting combination.. I think.

I dunno about that Jor-El is the Eradicator theory. I keep going back to Relic and the clear connection that we know the REAL Jor-El has with the caves and all the symbols there. Maybe that doesn't disprove the theory, but it certainly indicates that the caves are a link b/w Clark and the real Jor-El.
Maybe the reveal is that Lionel really is Jor-El now. *shrug*
I wonder if the speculation for this ep will be as extenuous as it was for Reckoning? :)

I used to like the Eradicator theory but given how more sympathetic "Jor-El" has gotten this season, I wasn't sure that he was the Eradicator anymore...
I guess we'll see...
I imagine it is Chloe in the plane Braniac would want her out of the way she did foil his plan last time as to the other spoilerwhener just too many possibilities. About the dpg walking the lady lied to him pretending not to know him or what he was doing. That is just creepy she could have said we're big fans we love your show. He had to know they were lying and the crack thing is out of line. I don't think anyone of us would lie to him or reveal that (well maybe in a few pms not publicly)

I used to like the Eradicator theory but given how more sympathetic "Jor-El" has gotten this season, I wasn't sure that he was the Eradicator anymore...
I guess we'll see...
They could have done that so that ppl could be surprised again. At that time everybody was talking about how he could only be The Eradicator, Brainiac or Zod. They even went so far as to directly ask Gough who said that he "could be".
Up until now I thought that maybe they had that plan because of the no-Kryptonians rule (Eradicator is not a Kryptonian but a Kryptonian machine so is not obligated to that rule) but then Singer went on board on the movie and as a fan of the series gave them more freedom and since they now can use Kryptonians it's Jor-El again.
But let's face it folks: it would be really lame after all that Jor-El did in the past if they got away with that explanation.
I re-watched Covenant again and I like many fans can't get past it. It's obvious that it is The Eradicator or at least painted as it. They use his powers in the cave (ability to give a human the powers of Superman like Jonathan and Lindsay plus the ray of light used to choke Jonathan is the one Eradicator uses).
Add to it the way he behaved (not like the Jor-El we know) and the menaces he made (he was prepared to take Jonathan's life in the caves if Clark didn't go with him).
It was like someone that had no heart and was cold like a...machine. Yes, Jor-El has had a bit of a change lately but Eradicator isn't always evil but he was obsessed with the last son of Krypton and preserving the Kryptonian heritage on earth.
Now to go back to what Serene has said, the Jor-El in Relic is like the one we know and I really believe that one is. It's hard to believe that Relic's Jor-El would ever threaten Jonathan Kent who by the way was the son of the man who helped him in that episode.
It just doesn't add up and would leave too many holes if they don't expose the voice we know as Jor-El as The Eradicator who had assumed his identity for whatever purpose.
As far as the choice: maybe he finally acepts who he is and that he can fly...lol Or he decides to travel the world, who knows ? It probably won't be the choice to be Superman yet.

You have to ask why was Brainiac hiding in an Asteroid orbiting the earth all this time.
And I cant get past Jor-el punishing Clark in Arrival, just for disobeying him.

Although perhaps now with this new rumor, the choice Clark will be faced with will be saving the people on the plane or Chloe (?) at the Daily Planet.I'm thinking whatever they've come up with for this season's cliffhanger has to be big. I mean, really BIG. They have to top last year's finale, and that's not gonna be easy. Each year, they manage to go bigger...
S1: Tornado hits Smallville, Lionel is trapped under mansion debris, Lex hesitates saving him, Jonathan chases tabloid reporter Roger Nixon - who knows Clark's secret, Clark's ship "wakes up" in front of Martha, and Clark attempts to save Lana as she gets sucked up into the tornado.
S2: While on his honeymoon, Lex crashes his jet over the ocean, jaded by Clark, Chloe forges a deal with Lionel, Martha loses the baby, and Clark runs away to Metropolis on a motorcycle - wearing a RedK ring!
S3: Lana leaves for Paris, Lionel exacts his revenge from his prison cell, Chloe is blown up in her "safe" house, Lex is poisoned, Jonathan is left unconscious on the floor of the cave - possibly dead, and Clark is sucked into the cave wall by Jor-El in order to be "reborn."
S4: Second meteor shower destroys Smallville, fate of Martha and Jonathan uncertain, black ship lands - and opens in front of Lana, and Clark tosses the FOS crystal into the artic ice.
Given their past history of outdoing prior season finales, I don't think Clark's big cliffhanger this year will involve a choice on such a "small" scale. There's also other things to consider, not the least of which will be the proximity of Vessel's broadcast date to the release date of SR, which I'm sure will motivate all involved to up their game, just a wee bit. LOL I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a flying scene - or a cliffhanger that suggests one as resolution come the 6th season's premiere.

I liked this part:
How is being the new guy on the set treating you?
It’s the most harmonious set I’ve ever worked on. There are no jerks in the pool. I’ve gotten to work most with Tom [Welling] and that is fabulous. We both have PSPs so we race each other on those and goof around. Then working with Michael Rosenbaum [chuckles], it’s like the circus comes to town, you just want to sit back and watch. On a 15-hour day, to have him come in cracking jokes, it’s better than coffee. And Annette O’Toole—still so hot, oh my god.

Old news, but K-site mentions Glover talking about J.S.:
He's here today, actually," Glover says. "There's a nice twist to who he is in this episode. He's made a couple appearances. There was some Krypton-ese thing where he comes back. This is his second appearance after that."
Kinda makes me think that JS may indeed play Jor-el while Marsters may play ZOD. No news has been released on any sort of casting. My assumption is its being filmed and we would have heard if they cast an unkown or well-known for the roll of ZOD.

Is Jack's post referring to this post of Pat's?
http://www.patcostello.com/smileys/smug.gif
From Ausiello:Lois and another major character [Martha? :p] will end up on an airplane that's locked in autopilot:http://www.patcostello.com/temp/crusade17.jpg
From Crusade:Bridgette Crosby: Martha, I can help you if you'll let me. Now where's your son?
Martha: I don't know. He flew. He flew away.
Bridgette: So he's... He has completely embraced his Kryptonian destiny.
From Ausiello:This season's cliff-hanger will revolve around a huge choice Clark must make.
Ah... to embrace or not to embrace, that is the question. [thinking]
http://www.patcostello.com/temp/velocity2.jpg
Not getting any younger, Clark. And that plane is getting further away (not that it matters.)
http://www.patcostello.com/temp/crusade18.jpg
CLIFFHANGER...

Is Jack's post referring to this post of Pat's?Heh. Lessee... Here's my take on Jack's take of my take...
"Dueling franchises" is more than just a funny - albeit accurate - description for the fandom. Every time the bar is set, it becomes the new quality benchmark for the "competition."
Fans following along with various rumored details of that other franchise know there's a visual effects extravaganza wrapped around a scene involving Superman saving people on a... um... "plane." *cough* Spoilers for Vessel are pointing towards a similar situation in Smallville. But "our" Clark doesn't fly.
Yet.
The bar has been set. The challenge has been issued. GO!
Flash forward to the premiere for SV's S6, which will be a couple of months *after* Matt Beck et al have had time to... um... uh, do some homework.
Tune in sometime in September to hear, "Touché."

I'd love to know what people's interpretations of jumping the shark are. If its that they throw in a gimmick because they're getting desperate for viewers then that's clearly not the case.
This show has two more seasons at most left. So they need to start getting things to a point where they can finish them off.

They're shooting SMALLVILLE right now at the Burnaby Filmstudios. I was on set (sneeked trough the security (IMG:style_emoticons/darklook/cool.gif) ) I saw Allison Mack on set. I was standing beside a trailer and all of a sudden she came out of that trailer. Didn't see Tom though, not sure if he actually was on set. They were shooting a big riot scene, with a lot of extras...roughly 80 people, and a faked S.W.A.T. team. I tlaked to one of the cop-extras and he told me that they are shooting until 6 am. They also had burning cars there and most of the extras had faked blood on their shirts. Too bad I didn't have my camera with me!!!

Question: Will there be anything happening between Chloe and Clark on Smallville before season's end? — Brianna
Ausiello: Not likely. With Milton and Lex teaming up to basically destroy mankind, Clark won’t have time for tonsil hockey
Question: Any chance Al Gough will drop his reluctance to let Clark fly on Smallville? — Sean P.
Ausiello: Let me say this: If the finale ends the way they have it planned now, next season could see a whole world of change for our wonder boy.
Question: Has Smallville been renewed yet? — Candyce
Ausiello: Not officially, but it's a shoo-in. And this just in: Lex's late mother will make an appearance in next month's finale.

none of them will compete with SR though the only one that might come close is POTC2 but with all the great reviews SR has been getting I doubt anyone will beat it till the 3rd or foruth week. The hell? Tony, Mike just asked what other blockbuster films there would be to see while waiting for S6 to preem. Who gives a rat's patootie which one will "win?"

I think Pat had a good point, Tony:
Not all roads lead to SR anymore than they all lead to SV.

Maybe I was being too oblique....
What I meant to say that just because they were talking about what other big blockbusters were being released this summer doesn't mean it should turn into a pissing contest between SR and other films...
That said, I'm not sure anyone is really going to be sure how well SR (or any other film set to be released this summer) will do.
A lot of recent films that were supposed slam dunks tanked instead, while others that no one expected to do well have quietly raked in boatloads.
Box Office Trends are NOT exactly predictable right now and I'm not sure that will change between now and June.
I've noticed that SR fans seem to go out of their way to convince themselves and everyone else how great the film will be, w/o seeing more than 2 minutes of footage.
Not true in every case, but I think that speaks to the majority.

This season finale sounds like its gonna have everything going in every direction again. It'd be nice to have nother 90 minute episode like Commencement.
I think Supernatural might be airing its finale the week before Smallville, so its possible.
Yeah... Even though the 90 minutes only turned out to be what without commercials.. 48 minutes?? i remember watching it for the first time on my s4 dvds and was like.. wth...

Question: Will there be anything happening between Chloe and Clark on Smallville before season's end? — Brianna
Ausiello: Not likely. With Milton and Lex teaming up to basically destroy mankind, Clark won’t have time for tonsil hockey.
WoW Lex really turns evil by seasons end. Could this change in character be tide with the lawsuit or because next season is the last?

I dunno where this guy heard these rumors from or if he just invented everything, from supermanhomepage:

Rumor has it that Brainiac and Clark have this massive fight that takes place in the sky. According to the more indepth rumors Clark gets his ass handed to him for the better part of the fight. Something along the lines of each time Brainiac hits Clark, Brainiac "downloads" memories of Krypton into Clark's brain. He sees his people dying. How Zod and Brainiac (Disputable!) betrayed their people. As a result Clark gets angry and unlocks all of his powers and ends up throwing Brainiac into the Sun.
