1. You must be my ...
'Cause you shine on me wherever you are
I just think of you and I start to glow
And I need your light
And baby I know
2. He had white horses,

All dressed in satin,

1. You must be my ...
'Cause you make the darkness seem so far
And when I'm lost you'll be my guide
I just turn around and you're by my side
2. White lace and feathers,
they made up his bed
A gold-covered mattress,
on which he was laid
3. She had it in her own time
To get away and try to find
Somewhere to go, to run
She saw the world through open eyes
And never let a soul inside
Don't come too close, so close
Baby thinks she's smart, but what about her heart?

This set may be old, but I suspect it's also easy.
1. Well the night's begun and you want some fun
Do you think you're gonna find it
You got to treat yourself like number one
Do you need to be reminded
It doesn't matter what you do or say
Just forget the things that you've been too
We can't do it any other way
Ev'rybody's got to rock n roll yay
2. Well, shake it up baby now
...
Come on, come on, come, come on baby now
Come on and work it on out
Well work it on out, honey
You know you look so good
You know you got me goin' now
Just like I knew you would
3. ...

Let it all out
These are things I can do without
Come On

If anyone gets all three, they must have an extremely eclectic taste in music.
1. There I was completely wasting, out of work and down
all inside it's so frustrating as I drift from town to town
feel as though nobody cares if I live or die
so I might as well begin to put some action in my life
2. I'm breakin' rocks in the hot sun
... and the ... won
... and the ... won
I needed money 'cause I had none
... and the ... won
... and the ... won
3. I hate to tell you, but I got a bit of bad news
I don't love you no more
I see life is like a circle
Everything you do comes back to you

Well here's a new set, the most current of this lot is an 80's tune (unless there are remakes I'm not aware of).
1. I’m in the dark,
I’d like to read his mind
but I’m frightened of the things I might find
Oh, there must be something he’s thinking of
to tear him away
when I tell him that I’m falling in love
why does he say
2. ...
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more
3. Oh for the pillow where my head used to lay
‘Fore I left to be a grown man way back then
I miss the wooden kitchen floor
Painted brown to match the old back door
In my old Kentucky home where I belong

Unfortunatly I don't have the time to restart this thread...
However here are the rules if you feel like trying:
The game host picks 3 songs which share a common word/theme in either the title or the artists' name. He provides the first verse of each song (if the title of the song, artist name or key word appears in the verse he puts underscores/dashes in place of the word).
Players make their guesses.
If the thread reaches the bottom of the forum page the Host places another verse of each unguessed song in the thread. If all verses and choruses have appeared the "hangman" round begins.
The hangman round should have the proper number of blanks for each word and players guess 1 letter at a time.
The person who guesses the most songs correctly hosts the next round (in case of a tie it goes to the person with the first correct guess).
If someone guesses all 3 songs, artists and the theme correctly they are supposed to get an animated GIF as their prize.

Wow. I can't believe I forgot all about this. Sorry, guys. Here's 3 based on a theme I don't believe we've seen.
1.
Through early morning fog I see
Visions of the things to be
The pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see
2.
[...] was the colour of her hair
Like a cheap distraction
For a new affair
She knew it would finish
Before it began
Something tells me you lost the plan
3.
Wine is fine but whiskey's quicker
[...] is slow with liquor
Take a bottle, drown your sorrows
Then it floods away tomorrows
All of these, IMO, are very well known songs, but admittedly, the lyrics don't always accompany #1. Good luck!

I'm going to assume you got them all correct (because they make sense to me).
Which means two things:
1. You have to "host" the next round (three songs that share a common theme, usually a word in the Title of the song or the Artist's name).
and
2. You win an animated Gif.

1.
Give me all of your dreams
And let me go along on your way
Give me all of your prayers to sing
And i'll turn the night into the skylight of day
I got a taste of paradise
I'm never gonna let it slip away
I got a taste of paradise
It's all I really need to make me stay --
Just like a child again
2.
And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our souls
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll
3.
Oh - thinkin' about all our younger years
There was only you and me
We were young and wild and free
Now nothin' can take you away from me
We've been down that road before
But that's over now
You keep me comin' back for more
Baby you're all that I want

TT, I am truly disappointed by your selection of Peruvian top 40. :( I don't know any of those. I'd guess that #2 is by someone from one of the old blues greats. For some reason, Robert Johnson comes to mind. I'm probably way off, though.

It is very old, but recently covered. Not top 40. The #2 is by a more or less "Southern rock" band... #3 Has also been covered many times, pretty well known. #1 was by a band with a strong PUNK flavor, well known, top 40 hit.

They say you stand
By your man
Tell me something
I don't understand
You said you loved me
And that's a fact
And then you left me
Said you felt trapped
Well,somethings you can explain away
But the heartache's with me till this day
did you stand by me
No,not at all
Did you stand by me
No way
All the times

Pick three songs that have a common theme (Like they all have a certain word in the title) Post one section of lyrics from each of the songs (in a single post).
The poster that correctly identies a song or the theme gets a point of scoring - although we haven't tabulated the scores in a while... this game has been going on for a year or so... :)

So is this thread officially dead yet? In case the answer is no:
1.
Such a feelin’s comin’ over me
There is wonder in most everything I see
Not a cloud in the sky
Got the sun in my eyes
And I won’t be surprised if it’s a dream
2.
When it's cold outside and you want to sleep in
Go for a pallet that's so nice and thin.
Zip it on around while it's on the ground,
Spread it out and lay it on down.
3.
You’re 17, evil and mean
Comfy and cozy, nowhere seen
You can’t deny the loser inside
All of your bad taste won’t subside

#1 is, yes. 2 and 3 are different songs by different artists. You get **. Good job.

I'm back after a year long hiatus... I just don't know when (if) I'll have time to host this thread again... However for the newbies I'll quickly explain the rules:
The "host" picks 3 songs with a common word in the Title or the names of the Singer/Group that played the song. Then provides 1 verse of each song with the key word asterixed or dashed out. The song title would also be asterixed or dashed out whenever it appears. Example:
**** *** ***** with bows of holly,
Falalalala lala la la
Tis the season to be jolly,
Falalalala lala la la
Then people try to guess the names of the songs and artists. 1 point for each song title, 1 point for each artist. If someone gets all 3 songs and artists correct they win a prize. The prize being an animated GIF "borrowed" from some other web site. The person with the most points in the round is also supposed to host the next round.

tsk tsk... rules for playing are on the first page.
You need to have 3 different songs sharing a common theme (a word from the title or artist's name) and you have to post one verse from each song. If the songs are still unguessed the next day you post another verse of each song. You do this daily until the songs are completely posted (using the spoiler function to blank out the key "theme" word). After that it goes into "hangman" mode.

I will NOT allow this thread to die!
:o I just wish I had enough time to revive it properly by searching out 3 songs with a word shared in the title or artist name (that hasn't been used before)...

:woot: Most people can't resist making a random guess here and there... The tricky bit is to get all three and the theme to WIN your animated GIF.

Song #1
When pop died
Didn't cry
Didn't know him that well
Between him doin Heroine
And me doin Crack sales
With that in the egg shell
Standin at the tabernacle
Rather the church
Pretending to be hurt
Wouldn't work
So a smirk was all on my face
Like damn that mans face was just like my face
So pop i forgive you
For all the **** that i live through
It wasn't all your fault
Homie you got caught
And to the same game i fault
That Uncle Ray lost
My big brothers and so many others i saw
I'm just glad we got to see each other
Talk and re-meet each other
Save a place in Heaven
Til the next time we meet forever
Song #2
Even though I'm in love
Sometimes I get so afraid
I'll say something so wrong
Just to have something to say
I know the moment isn't right
To tell the girl a comical line
To keep the conversation light
I guess I'm just frightened out of my mind
But if that's how I feel
Then it's the best feeling I've ever known
It's undeniably real
[title of the song]
Song #3
I'm not afraid
Of anything in this world
There's nothing you can throw at me
That I haven't already heard
I'm just trying to find
A decent melody
A song that I can sing
In my own company
I never thought you were a fool
But darling look at you
You gotta stand up straight
Carry your own weight
These tears are going nowhere baby

Second verses
1#
The music business hate me
Cause the industry ain't make me
Hustlers and boosters embrace me
And the music i be makin
I dumb down for my audience
And double my dollars
They criticize me for it
Yet they all yell "Holla"
If skills sold
Truth be told
I'd probably be
Lyricly
Talib Kweli
Truthfully
I wanna rhyme like Common Sense
(But i did five Mil)
I ain't been rhymin like Common Sense
When your sense got that much in common
And you been hustlin since
Your inception
**** perception
Go with what makes sense
Since
I know what i'm up against
We as rappers must decide what's most impor-tant
And i can't help the poor if i'm one of them
So i got rich and gave back
To me that's the win, win
The next time you see the homie and his rims spin
Just know my mind is workin just like them
(The rims that is)
2#
Yes I know I'm in love
But just when I ought to relax
I put my foot in my mouth
Cause I'm just avoiding the facts
If the girl gets too close
If I need some room to escape
When the moment arose
I'd tell her it's all a mistake
But that's not how I feel
No that's not the woman I've known
She's undeniably real
[title of the song]
3#
I will not forsake
The colors that you bring
The nights you filled with fireworks
They left you with nothing
I am still enchanted
By the light you brought to me
I listen through your ears
Through your eyes I can see
And you are such a fool
To worry like you do
I know it's tough
And you can never get enough
Of what you don't really need now
My, oh my
