I know, I know, this is supposed to be about super-heros and such, but if we can have Bush threads, I thought this wouldn't be too bad.

Here's how it'll work, I'll give you one verse from 3 different songs with a common theme (usually the same word in the title) and you try to guess what it is.

1. ...
It's hard
...
You know it's hard
Everybody wants her
Everybody loves her
Everybody wants to take your baby home

2. ..., walkin' down the street
... the kind I like to meet
... I don't believe you, you're not the truth
No one could look as good as you---mercy

3. ... , stay away from me
... , mama let me be
Don't come a hangin' around my door
I don't wanna see your face no more
I got more important things to do
Than spend my time growin' old with you
Now ... , I said stay away
... , listen what I say-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay

That still leaves:

1. ...
You watch your friends
...
It never ends
You know that it's crazy
You want to trust her
Then somebody hangs up when you answer the phone
..
You go it alone

1. I still down know what I was waiting for
And my time was running wild
A million dead-end streets
Every time I thought I'd got it made
It seems the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
But I've never caught a glimpse
Of how the others must see the faker
I'm much too fast to take that test

2. Ten years living in a paperbag
Feedback baby he's a flipped out cat
He's a platinum canary drinkin' falstaff beer
Mercedes rule and a rented lear
Bottom feeder insincere
Prophet lo fi pioneer
Sell the house and go to school

But leaves turn brown and fade
Ships sail away
You long to say a thousand words

No. I didn't have a problem with any one picture. There were just a lot of people exposing things and weird situations. Like this, for example:

Given the search, I can understand that, though. There are a few, though, where I couldn't make a connection to "expose." Take these, for example:

Song 1
Took their innocence and made them slaves
You want forgiveness, you're so sorry
I'd rather put you in an unmarked grave

Locked you away behind cast iron doors
Rather see you dead on the floor
I hope that you're feeling so much pain now

Song 2

____ ____ told me
Stories of the lonely
Baby, we can only come alive to me
Her man he was lusted
Daddy he was busted
They left her to be trusted
To the orphanage
But when she cried at night
No one cared
And when she cried at night
Went insane

Song 3

I know it's early, but you gotta get down.
Go on and rock, Sue, rock!
I'm a soldier, in the army, of ____ ____
Come on and work out in that foxhole.
Ain't no need to get dirty, but you can get down
This is the army with the mission to rescue dance music from the blahs
We're not gonna do it by fighting--Get up! Get down!
_____ ____ wants you to funk with him
La da dee da dee dee dee dee da

Ok, the game master picks 3 songs that share a common theme (usually a word in the title of the song).

The play:
Place 1 verse of each of the 3 songs on the board and wait for a guess. (Replace any "key" words from the title with ...) If it hasn't been guessed in 1 hour (give or take), place another verse of each of the 3 songs on the board. Repeat until last verse. If still no guesses set up a hangman type board with only the letters actually used in the song title and artist name displayed.

The scoring:
One * for song title, one * for artist/band name and one * for the theme. (7 points total for a whole round). If a single player guesses all 3 songs they should be awarded an animated gif.

As for choosing the next "game master", haven't really come up with a rule for that. Spider-Fett has volunteered for the next set.

Are you ready for suicide?
Let me run a razor across your throat
You took a child for a ride
Led them down a long and shameful road
It rips my heart out to see you livin'
You gave them money in exchange for pain
You're the monster in the closet
They'll take your secrets with them to their graves

Locked you away behind cast iron doors

Song2

When she was just a baby
That she could buy a mabye

Is love for all the others
The pushers and the shovers
Was the life to me
But when she cried at night

Well, again I won't guess because I cheated. I never really got into that band. On a humorous note, I'll post what someone else thought the song said. Instead of "I'm so hot for her and she's so cold," they heard "I'm so huggable and she's so stoned." Sometimes I think people on these misheard lyrics sites go out of their way to make stuff up. Sometimes they're funny, but other times, it's obviously made up.

1. I feel like I've been locked up tight
For a century of lonely nights;
Waiting for someone
To release me.
You're licking your lips and blowing kisses my way,
But that don't mean I'm gonna give it away;
Baby, baby, baby.
(Baby, baby, baby.)

2. If I could save ...
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day
'Til Eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you

3. Just a castaway, an island lost at sea, oh
Another lonely day, with no one here but me, oh
More loneliness than any man could bear
Rescue me before I fall into despair, oh

1. The music's playing and the lights' down low,
One more dance and then we're good to go;
Waiting for someone
Who needs me.
Hormones racin' at the speed of light,
But that don't mean it's gotta be tonight;
Baby, baby, baby.

Here's the new group of 3 folks, sharing a theme.

1. I was lying on the grass on Sunday morning of last week
Indulging in my self defeat
My mind was thugged all laced and bugged all twisted wrong and beat
A comfortable three feet deep
Now the fuzzy stare from not being there on a confusing morning weak
Impaired my tribal lunar speak
And of course you can't become if you only say what you would have done
So I missed a million miles of fun

2. ...
That's why I'll always be around
You are the apple of my eye
Forever you'll stay in my heart

3. The other night dear, as I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms
When I awoke, dear, I was mistaken
So I hung my head and I cried.

1. You keep on walking so you don't fall down
It's the same old story
You keep on hiding so you can't be found
It's the same old story
Oh but I know you, you're the one who ran
You know why, it's because you can, oh

2. I, I'm so in love with you,
whatever you want to do,
is alright with me,
'cause you make me feel
so brand-new,
I want to spend my life with you,
they say it seems, baby,
since we've been together,
loving you forever,
is what I need.
Let me be the one you come runnin' to,
I'll never be, ah, untrue,
Ooo baby,

3. Oh my,my,my,my
Don't you worry 'bout what's on your mind oh my
I'm in no hurry I can take my time oh my
I'm going red and my tongue's getting tied
I'm off my head and my mouth's getting dry

Here we go folks, while they share a common theme one of the songs doesn't have the theme word in the title:

1. My child arrived just the other day
He came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
And he was talkin' 'fore I knew it, and as he grew
He'd say "I'm gonna be like you dad
You know I'm gonna be like you"

2. Black and orange ..... ... sittin' on a fence
Ain't got enough dough to pay the rent
I'm flat broke but I don't care
I ..... right by with my tail in the air

3. Risin' up, back on the street
Took my time, took my chances
Went the distance
Now I'm back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive

The Pussycat Song by Connie Vannette

My pussycat was scratching out on the back door
Scratched so long, poor pussy got sore
Sore pussy!
Sore...pussy
Just a friendly little cat!

My pussycat was sitting out on the front step
Sat so long, poor pussy got wet
Wet pussy!
Sore...wet...pussy
Just a friendly little cat!

My pussycat was playing out on the back lot
Played so long, poor pussy got hot
Hot pussy!
Sore...wet...hot....pussy
Just a friendly little cat!

My pussycat was rocking in the rocking chair
Rocked so long, he lost his hair
Bald pussy!
Sore...wet...hot...bald...pussy
Just a friendly little cat!

My neighbor and I are at the clothesline
I said to my neighbor, "Won't you look at mine?"
My pussy!
Sore...wet...hot...bald...pussy
Just a friendly little cat!

My neighbor stole my kitty, but I did see
I said to my neighbor, "Set my pussy free!"
Free pussy!
Sore...wet...hot...bald...free...pussy
Just a friendly little cat!

Here kitty kitty kitty kitty kitty
Awww, nice pussy!

Since I'll be at work and will likely miss out on a round or 2, let me try to scam some more extra credit here. Here's the new set folks, you should recognize all the groups even if you don't recognize the song:

1. Lying beside you, here in the dark
Feeling your heartbeat with mine
Softly you whisper, you're so sincere
How could our love be so blind
We sailed on together
We drifted apart
And here you are, by my side

2. All day long I hear my telephone ring
Friends calling giving their advice
From the boy I love
I should break away
'Cause heartaches he'll bring one day

3. You want commitment
Take a look into these eyes
They burn with a fire,
Just for you now
Until the end of time
I would do anything
I'd beg, I'd steal, I'd die

1. Lying beside you, here in the dark
Feeling your heartbeat with mine
Softly you whisper, you're so sincere
How could our love be so blind
We sailed on together
We drifted apart
And here you are, by my side

2. All day long I hear my telephone ring
Friends calling giving their advice
From the boy I love
I should break away
'Cause heartaches he'll bring one day

3. You want commitment
Take a look into these eyes
They burn with a fire,
Just for you now
Until the end of time
I would do anything
I'd beg, I'd steal, I'd die

they are all by rolf harris

I didn't know any of these. I won't even guess the theme because I had to cheat to even find that. However, I will include another song with the same theme.

I keep looking for something I can't get
Broken hearts lie all around me,
and I don't see an easy way out of this
Her diary, it sits on the bedside table
The curtains are closed, the cat's in the cradle
Who would've thought that a boy like me could come to this.

1. So now I come to you with _._._._ - _._._._
Nothing to hide, believe what I say
So here I am, with _._._._ - _._._._
Hoping you'll see what your love means to me
_._._._ - _._._._

2. I lost him once through friends advice
But it's not gonna happen twice
'Cause all advice ever's gotten me
Was many long and sleepless nights

3. Baby I want you like the roses
Want the rain
You know I need you
Like a poet needs the pain
I would give anything
My blood my love my life
If you were _._ - _._._._._ - _._._._ tonight

Red, since I'm going to work (and you usually go through a few games while I'm gone), I was going to PM you the title and artist of the song I'd posted, since you seem to give out all the points, anyway. You seem to have PMs and email disabled. Do you know the song, in case anyone guesses?

Here's verse 2:

Is there any just cause for feeling like this
On the surface I'm a name on a list
I try to be discreet, but then blow it again.
I've lost and found, it's my final mistake.
She's loving by proxy, no give and all take
'Cause I've been thrilled to fantasy one too many times.

Well, I didn't know anything else by them, so I looked them up and found that they have 6 (six - not a typo) albums, one of which is a greatest hits album. When I checked the songlist of the GH album, I found that the only 2 songs I knew were this song and the extended mix of this song. Well, give yourself 2 points, and award points to others if they guess it. :)

1. Living without you, living alone
This empty house seems so cold
Wanting to hold you
Wanting you near
How much I wanted you home
But now that you've come back
Turned night into day
I need you to stay

2. Ooh! But now
He's _._._._ - _._ - _._ - _._._._ - _._._._._
Right by my side
I got him _._._._ - _._ - _._ - _._._._ - _._._._._

3. I'd hold you I'd need you
I'd get down on my knees for you
And make everything alright
If you were _._ - _._._._._ - _._._._ tonight
I'd love you I'd please you
I'd tell you that I'd never leave you
And love you till the end of time
If you were _._ - _._._._._ - _._._._ tonight

4. Oh-oh-oh woh I, _ - _._._._ - _._._._ - _._ - _._._._ - _._._._ tonight
It must have been something you said
I just died in your arms tonight
Oh-oh-oh woh, oh I, _ - _._._._ - _._._._ - _._ - _._._._ - _._._._ tonight

*lol* I think I picked it up from Thor comics. Or maybe some SF&F book I read along the way. "Regular" Canadians would probably insert a 4 letter swear word beginning with F in it's place. Since I'm not fond of swearing and save it for when I really, truly am brought to the absolute limit of my endurance I seek out other interesting terms to replace the inappropriate verbiage.

Bloody! Oh my stars and garters (this can be attributed to the Beast when he was a Defender). etc.

I don't feel the need to give such secrets away
You think maybe I need help, no I know I'm right all right

When they want to know what the reason is
I only smile when alive, and I tell them why

* You got the group right, but that's not the song. So keep trying to earn the other point. It's a truly uncommon one so you'll have to really know your Beatles tunes to figure it out. Neither Strawberry nor Fields appears in the title of the song.

There's no peace of mind if I fear I'm losin' you

1. Glass Onion by the Beatles

2. Heart of Glass by Blondie

3. Walking on Broken Glass? It's really just a guess based on the lyrics and the theme. I can't remember who did it, but I think I may have owned an album with that song on it (if that is even the song). Something makes me want to say Laura Branigan, but that sounds all wrong. Given time, I think I can remember the right band.

****** Soooo close to a clean sweep. But Laura Branigan did NOT do that song. Though it is sung by a female.

The first song is by a Canadian artist. The last is a 70's tune.

1. You've got ways
To take hold of my thoughts
Over-riding my senses
Lock your sights
Dead in line with your heart
Share your powers
You stir my soul
And whet my hunger
And weave that spell
That pulls me under ohh

2. The wind blew some luck in my direction
I caught it in my hands today
I finally made a tricky French connection
You winked and gave me your o.k.
I'll take you on a trip beside the ocean
And drop the top at Chesapeake Bay
Ain't nothing like the sky to dose a potion

3. We get it almost every night
When that ol' moon gets big and bright
It's a supernatural delight

Celine Dion? Anne Murray? Barenaked Ladies? Rush (well, I know this one's wrong)? Am I close? I'm just guessing. The lyrics aren't helping at all.

* The song is Dancin' in the Moonlight.

The artist was NOT Van Morrison (I double checked and confirmed they never did that song).

The song is sung by a guy and (though this won't help even a bit), Jon Anderson from Yes did backup vocals for the chorus.

You're right. That doesn't help. The only bands I know JA sung for was Yes, Anderson Bruford Wakeman and Howe (him being the aforementioned Anderson), and if you count this tragedy, his horrible solo work. In every instance, he's been lead vocals.

I'm clueless. I'm sure all 3 will be guessed by the time I get home from work. Just in case, I won't cheat....yet. :)

1. Secret fires
Burn inside me unknown
Raging on
Never mentioned
Only you
Can uncover the flames
Break their silence
And make them dance
For us to see them
And break their chains
And give them freedom oh

2. We'll lay back and observe the constellations
And watch the moon smilin bright
I'll play the radio on southern stations
Cause southern belles are hell at night
You say you came to Baltimore from Ole Miss
Class of seven four gold ring
The eastern moon looks ready for a wet kiss
To make the tide rise again

2. We'll see the sun come up on Sunday morning
And watch it fade the moon away
I guess you know I'm giving you a warning
Cause me and moon are itching to play
I'll take you on a trip beside the ocean
And drop the top at Chesapeake Bay
Ain't nothin like the sky to dose a potion
The moon'll send you on your way
