Man, I've learned my lesson when it comes to NPCs. It's taken two (or three) posts just to wrap up the fight between Ult. Dove and Ult. Terra. After this arc, I'll try to slow down with all the NPCs. LOL, I haven't mention my own character (Conner) in like, three posts.

So, why should it be connected to Smallville? That show's got a continuity much more convoluted than I'd like Clark's early years to be. And I've always hated Lex and Clark being friends as kids. It works in the show, but not in the comics.

While it's mostly up to you, Question usually has some good ideas for characters.

Well, I had some ideas for how CM's powers worked, but otherwise I'd keep the character the same as he is in the regular DC continuity. Although, his relationship with other heroes would be different. He'd be a bit condacending to them. To him and Shazam, Superman and his allies are amatures playing a game for pros, which is what Captain Marvel is. If you've ever seen Buffy the Vampire Slayer, think of Captain Marvel and Shazam as the Slayers and Watcher's Council, and the rest of the super powered heroes as the Initiative. They mean well, and they do good, but in the eyes of CM and Shazam, they're in way over their heads.

Hmm... I'll keep that i mind when i interact with the other characters, but for now, i wanna establish the Character a little. I wanna give him Excalibur before he meets everyone, then return to the Rock and become Captain Marvel again after a duel. He keeps the new way he is a hero, instead of being some guy with superpowers from saying a word, i want him to be a hero from his equipment.

Hey guys i'm back from spring break sabbatical and i'm writing part two for GL. I'm gonna back read what i've missed (which is a lot in a week and a half) but i was wondering if someone could do me a big favor. Could a kinds sould give me an update of the major events so i don't mess anything up when i post part 2? the last thing i read was superboy getting jumped on page 7:(

And in regards to Captain Marvel... I'd just ditch the Captain part and go with 'Marvel'. I personally think that's more 'Ultimate' to the character, while not straying too far from the norm. (Though it's completely up to you. Your character, after all. )

Billy Baxton can not be Shining Night. That makes no sense. This is the Ultimate DC, but you can't change things that far. Well, I don't know if you can't. That is up to the GM's, but that is just me. Why take a character and change him into another one, especially if someone wants the characters you are chainging.

He's an Agent of Checkmate. No one except for the top officials in Checkmate know he exist. Think James Bond, but American and not as good a guy.

Three Reasons Why You Have Chosen That Character:

2. I screwed up Captain Marvel

3. Because he hasn't been used before.

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character As A Person:
He's an Assasin, and is gonna kill a TON of NPCs.
He's gonna have encounters with other heroes, sometimes as an Ally, sometimes as an Enemy, all depends on the mission he is on.

Well, let's say that you want to be Mr. Terrific. It would be your job to introduce him into the RPG's continuity. You have an idea for an Ultimate version of him, that's how you do it. Or, if you can't think of an idea, someone else could suggest one to you and you could work off of that.

Well, we've already established that the JSA was around in WWII and served as a special team that dealt with supernatural forces for the government. So, if you want to use the origional, he'd either be quite old or he wouldn't have been in the JSA.

Actually, yes they were. Wizard Magazine featured the article of the current heroes Ultimatized, but unfortunately the series' for the characters never made it to shelves.

The heroes featured were:

Superman
Batman
Wonder Woman
The Flash
Green Lantern

And there was one for the JLA with the heroes I listed, which also had The Atom who was a female and Martian Manhunter. There was another one about the Teen Titans, where they served as opposed rivals toward the JLA.

Some of the ideas were rather good, and some (in my opinion) sucked major ass. We don't have to follow those ideas, although some choose to take inspiration from them.

I think the Wonder Woman one was the worst of them all. The Flash idea, though was one I enjoyed.

I liked most of the Flash one, although I didn't like the deal with time traveling Wally. They should have introduced Zoom instead.

Yes, that part of it was really not needed in my opinion. They could of just had Iris and Wally like in the article, but as you said just introduce Zoom except make him slightly different than his DCU counterpart.

I liked the Flash suit design as well. And the Green Lantern story they made wasn't all that bad.

I never read Green Lantern. My idea for Ultimate Zoom (which Green Lantern has partially based his idea off of Zoom) is that he was Wally's best friend growing up, and later became a biochemist. One of his experiments in preformance enhancements accidentally lead to Barry becoming the Flash. He served as Barry'd confidant for a while. Having always been jelous of Barry, that Jelousy grew into a stalker like obsession as Barry's fame grew. He eventually recreated Barry's accident, created a reverse colored version of the protective gear Barry wears while running, and tried to kill him at a public event in his honor.

The Ultimate Batman thing in Wizard didn't seem that different from what was in mainstream continuity, really. Bruce sees his parents die. He trains. He comes back. He becomes Batman. He forms an allieance with Gordon and Dent. Same old thing.

The only major differences with that was the fact that Gordon was Commisioner, Harvey being enaged to Barbara, and the Joker, who was more of an anti-hero than villian.

Really, I was sort of let down, especially when this went with the cool design they had. They could've done more with it... Though I admit it would've been neat to see these titles on the shelves.

I didn't like their idea fo The Joker. Don't make him a vigilante. That means that he actually cares about other people. The Joker doesn't care about anyone but himself, his crappy life, and his own personal brand of humor.

Mr.Terrific is one of those characters that I wouldn't want to tackle because it would take so much research to make him come across as super intelligent. He has to be smart about everything he does.

Captain Marvel I would see not getting along with Superman. He would think that the Kryptonian was too untrained, undeserving of his powers, and as the only person with the strength to take down Kal would keep a close eye on him. He would have a certain kinship with Diana since they both get their powers from the gods.

Well I would realy like to see some "Ultimate" style development on the Blue Beetle, and I'm actualy thinking about putting in an ap because he is one of my favorite DC characters. I can't decide which incarnation I would want to be, which era ya know. I have some ideas that have a realy "Ultimate" twist, such as the scarab not actualy being a mystical item at all, instead having it as an alien artifact that bio-mechanicaly ataches to its host, thus allowing the amazing abilities of the Blue Beetle. OR, I was thinking about the original B.B. and the 2X drug he took to give him super strength and have a more modernized version of this. I'll have an ap up soon, but if someone could help me decide which of these ideas would work best, and perhaps which alter ego i should take up, that would help :D

Ted Kord's always been a favorite of mine. And really, if you want to have a scarab but can't decide between magic and alien tech, why not have both? I always like to write the line between magic and science as very blurred. magic is simply scientific practices used long before we had computers and test tubes. They're more in tuned with nature, and while they have strengths over certain areas that modern science lack, they are no better or worse.

Don't use Reyes. Reyes is the character in the comics, and if you look carefully, he's basically a hispanic Ted Kord in terms of personality. Use Kord. Give him the scarab, if you want. I would, however, simply have him be a vigilante who's good with electronics.

Basic History Of The Character: Born to a poor family in suicide slum, Alexander Luthor's genius was discovered at an early age. His father, a charlatan and failed businessman who liked tom pretend he was a big important person, used Alexander to attain a station of power and wealth, turning his failed electronics company into Luthorcorp, a booming conglomerate. When Alexander's mother, the only person who ever really cared about him, died, he was left at the mercy of his father. Eventually, Alexander couldn't take it. At 20, he killed his father, made it look like an accident, and collected on the insurance. He then shaved his head bald and started going by the name Lex. Ten years later, he is one of the richest men in the world, and his nickname is "the brains behind America". He has major ties to terrorism and organized crime, which he sells weapons to. Basic History Of The Character: My version - Raised by his Uncle after his parents death (ditching the whole homeless thing - they would be whisked off into care today) Billy saved the life of a man who led him to the wizard SHAZAM - Who bestows the powers upon him - Billy doesn't believe the man, and runs when the "wizard" is killed by a large Granite block - it is at this point I would start playing him.

1. I've never played a real goody goody before.

2. Who hasn't wished they could just become a superhero with one word?

3. The whole "kid in a mans body with super powers" thing is interesting, and I would like to take perhaps a more irresponsible, realistic approach to what he might fo.

Basic History Of The Character:Being in high school is never a picnic, a fact that 16 year old Barbara Gordon (or Babs as her very few friends call her) knows all too well, but being the obviously adoted and highly socially inept white daughter of a prominent black police officer doesn't help the situation much. Of course, that doesn't mean that life is all bad for Babs (just mostly), because she's has safe havens scattered across her life's landscape. Her job at the Gotham Public Library is one, her gymnastics class is another, and she always excels academically. (I'm babbling, I really haven't thought out how to write a history on her yet, so I'm just typing what comes to mind, and it looks like this, which isn't too coherent, is it? I didn't think so.)

1.I want to get into this game but I don't want to play a character like the others I've played.

2.I've attempted to play a woman before (Wonder Woman in the One Universe RPG) but that failed miserably, so I'm giving it another try.

I also am going to borrow (from USM) the fact that the "secret identity" of the character can be much more interesting than the costumed ID. Also, I know Master Bruce made Jim Gordon black (Morgan Freeman as he put it), but seeing as how I plan to use many pics, I'm making Babs his adopted daughter (it was kinda alluded to in BG:YO, so I'm running with it). (I hope this isn't seen as any type of predjudice, because it isn't.)

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character As A Person:I plan to combine certain elements of Batgir:Year One with some from Ultimate Spider-Man, making Babs into an awkward high-schooler with social problems. I also am going to borrow (from USM) the fact that the "secret identity" of the character can be much more interesting than the costumed ID. Also, I know Master Bruce made Jim Gordon black (Morgan Freeman as he put it), but seeing as how I plan to use many pics, I'm making Babs his adopted daughter (it was kinda alluded to in BG:YO, so I'm running with it). (I hope this isn't seen as any type of predjudice, because it isn't.)

Well, he can if you want. I was going off what I knew of the character so far. I thought he was just a sleazy buisnessman who will (eventually) create the Teen Titans, which is essentially a blend of a boy band and a vigilante group.

I know I'm not part of this rpg, but I believe I am still free to ask questions as long as they have the potential to help the rpg out.

What is the ultimate spin on this Riddler? Is he going to be the regular DCU Riddler in a different setting?

Maybe the Riddler could be a game show host. Posing Riddles to contestants for cash and prizes. Maybe have some sort of obstacle course type thing involved. Ya know, get so far you gotta answer a riddle. Get it right you move on, get it wrong you're illiminated.

I remember someone mentioning that they wanted to play Ultimate Mr.Terrific. Maybe he could show up on the show and being one of the smartest people in the world he could out think the Riddler and be the first person to beat him at his own game. This could cause Nigmas ratings to drop, leaving him without a job and humiliated.

Nowhere else to go, he could turn to crime, creating riddles for his robberies and turn the props from his game show into deadly traps and weapons.

Just a humble idea. Do with it as you wish. I love the idea of this rpg and wish for only the best.

Also about my last idea regarding the CSA, I would have the Syndicate go to Earth instead of the JLA going to theirs. They could establish themselves as heroes ala the Hyperclan and secretly be working their own agenda.

well, i've referenced checkmate in my last post. so can i set up checkmate?
It'll be like MI6, except international, not just british.
The leaders will of course be Black King and White King, who don't alwys see eye to eye, and have to agree on something in order for it to get done. think of it as a balance of power struggle.
