View Full Version : Tweaked SR Teaser?

Threshold

Just got back from V for Vendetta moments ago and I must say that it was the best time at the movies I've had thus far this year.

However, when they played the Superman Returns teaser trailer beforehand, it seemed to have been tweaked. I first realized this when the Legendary Pictures logo had a new background (and for a moment I thought we might be getting an all new trailer with stuff from Showest, but I quickly realized that it was highly unlikely, and I was correct). As the teaser continued though, all the visuals seemed to have been changed in the slightest ways, most notably in the shot where young Clark is soaring over the cornfield (in the original his legs move more than they did in the revised version) and the last few shots with Superman in space (it seemed to have the shot start from further behind Superman, where we had longer view of the cape and then when he shot down to Metropolis, the city seemed to be in greater detail with less clouds covering the land).

I don't think this was my eyes playing tricks on me, but I paid very close attention to the teaser once noticing that the Legendary Pictures logo was different.

Did anyone else who saw V for Vendetta notice this as well?

It is, just thought I'd ask more people to see if anyone else noticed this.

It wasn't the first time you saw it on the bigscreen? was it?

No, I saw Harry Potter a bunch of times on the big screen. Pretty sure I saw it with some other movies as well.

This teaser was different, I'm sure of it. I've watched and rewatched the original teaser nearly a hundred times. The legendary pictures logo has a new background, the clip of Young Clark over the cornfield is a little different, and they extended the clip of Superman in space over metropolis by maybe a second or two. The footage seemed to have been changed as well, like it was taken another pass at in post. The most noticable though are the three details above.

I also noticed some of those changes (the Legendary logo and the cornfield jump).

I'd like to ask you all if any of you saw V in the UK. I'm in Edinburgh and will go see Vendetta tonight, and I never saw the SR teaser on the big screen (went to see Harry Potter and SR teaser wasn't there). Can anyone confirm if V has the teaser attached to it?
Eve if it isn't tweaked it'd be the first time I heard the Krypton Theme n a big screen! Wooo-hooo!!

That's true. There really aren't any significant changes to the teaser, the only people who'd realize them would be people who've watched the teaser religiously since it came out.

Very true, certain shots looked darker than they were in the original teaser, except for the last shot in space, which seemed to have been lighter because it was much easier to see every detail of the cape and Superman.

I'm not sure. It seemed to have been shipped out with V for Vendetta, so perhaps it'll be shipped internationally as well. I have no definite answer for you.

Wanted to update everyone on the "Tweaked Teaser". I spoke with Metropolis_Man earlier, who was in attendance at V for Vendetta, and has cfmed the teaser was tweaked.

He cfmed the new Legendary logo with trees or maybe forest scenary in the background. He also cfmed that the shot of Superman floating in space was extended 3-5 seconds, along with better cape detail.

He was nice enough to snap a photo for our reference and will have more details tomorrow.

I just saw V this evening and yeah, I saw the tweaked teaser as well. New Legendary logo, a bit of a different Young Clark jumping shot, longer Supes-above-Earth shot, and...I swear, some of the other shots seemed shorter, and I mean merely by an instant or two. Believe me, I've watched the teaser religiously.

I'm still rather curious as to the purpose of a revised teaser, especially one that changes such minute details.

^Cause the one we've seen wasn't the finished version. The newer trailer probably went through Post again and is the actual footage from thhe film.

^ Sounds right. The quality of their footage is upped so in turn they plug the newer footage into the trailer.

That is the general consensus, but it still doesn't make much sense because the changes are not noticable unless you've been religiously watching the teaser since it's debut.

The logo was different, but it was the exact same trailer imo. I've seen it at least a dozen times. I saw it twice before the GoF, last Fri. before V, and at least 9 or 10 times on apple's main page. I didn't pay exclusive attention to it, but it looked the exact same to me.

The more you observe a teaser, full trailer, or a film, things tend to slow down, and you absorb more of the work. You're probably just noticing more everytime you watch it.

Interesting to note. So the shot of Superman in space hovering is not extended?

I understand your reasoning on this one, but it's inaccurate. It is a different teaser. The footage had been changed. There are a ton of other people that noticed this too, there's a thread very similar to this one that I started over at BlueTights where it's pretty much been confirmed that the teaser was altered and updated. There's no question.

There was also significantly more lighting on the cape in space. I don't suppose any of this really matters, though. We all knew the shots would evolve, but I don't think we expected that to show in a revised trailer.

It moved as it would in zero gravity, very slowly. Not only was the cape lit better, but there seemed to be more detail put into Metropolis below him.

Now that i think about it i also noticed more detail where Superman re-enters the atmosphere. Or it could have been the fact that i saw the trailer on the IMAX sceen :)

I really tried to get some more shots, but I'd be a second too late, lol, that was the only thing I could really pick up in a picture as well though. Did it sound like maybe the music was just a tad slower, not much at all hardly, maybe just drawn out because of the few extra seconds of the shot of him in space.

I think I've seen the same thing you're talking about. Is it like a disposable video camera? Gets about 15 to 20 minutes of video? That'd be great to have to take in there. Get a video of it.

Yeah, it's a $20 disposable camcorder. Very small; about the size of a pack of those longer cigarettes, 100s I think they're called. My friend's bro hacked the camera and you can actually download the footage instead of taking it back to CVS and paying extortion level prices to get footage on a disc.
