[Juggertha]

I have been working on finding my own style ever since my wife was nice enough to buy me a WACOM pen for x-mas. I'm still having troubles with drawing on the comp, but I thought I'd show you all my favorite character.

Juggertha is a mix of Thor (Godly origin), the Juggernaut (the no stopping bit), and the Hulk (rage). Now after I typed that out I realized how it looks; ike I was trying to take the uber parts from all the cool brutes and heap them together. Well, I suppose that is kind of right but it doesn't really describe Juggertha. Consider all those parts toned down a bit... not so uber. (BTW he was actually created for City of Heroes if that makes any difference).

Actually Jugertha was an African King that fought against the Romans. You can read about him in The Jugerthine War - Sallust.

I was a History major and thus the name. Sorry guys, no berthas in the Bunch.

Sure, I can do that. Actually I had been thinking about doing some type of x-drawing soon. It's been awhile since I visited my roots (or rather inspiration).

I'm just worried, Poenix has been done so well before, it'd be hard to come close to any of hte art out there.

hehe, actually.. he's a real shy guy.. so that is a plausible theory.

As for the flesh tones, I tried to stay close to the original. I found the original had way too much variation for me though so I evened it out.

Thats one of the best things I liked about City of Heroes ... making heroes and heroines ... the gameplay was "Meh" but I really enjoy the creating and concepts and costume making. :)

I agree. I've had more fun creating (and drawing) characters than i ever have in game. It's a fine game... but there could still be more to it.

I think CoH was one of my most anticipated games ever, until I played it for a few months. I loved it, but it got so old so fast. I was in the special like 100 people only beta and everything, couple years ago. I came back for CoV and had like the 3rd max level stalker on the server, same as yours I believe Juggertha (Virtue). Spent pretty much all day in SC, got bored after a couple of weeks. 1/2 shotting people literally all day is uber boring. Anyways, I'm rambling =p. Love the art bro, and I especially like seeing the CoH characters :). I'm definitely going to keep checking out your work.

Yeah, same server man. I'd bug ya to come back and join me - but the truth is I'm hardly ever on. I just draw pics for my SG and log in occasionally to see if I can nudge one step closer to 50.

I haven't played since about a month after it came out. After I hit the level cap, did all the missions, and had like all 40+ SO's it got boring so fast. Like I said, killing most classes in 1-2 hits for your entire play session doesn't stay fun for very long. Anyways, I'm sure they will add something within the next year or so that will make me play again, though I doubt it will last very long :/.

Well after the trouncing I got in the X-Men contest I figured I'd go back to the CoH heroes.

Anyway, here is Bayani.
This one was a little daunting when I first started it. This character has been done a number of times (and quite well I might add - see his gallery in link below).

I was really trying for something different on the flame and glow effects. The end product is not what I had envisioned but cool none the less. I was hoping for more of a reflection in the glasses but alas, it wasn't meant to be.

In Korea there is an old tale abut how the Jpanaese changed the international spelling of Korea/Corea to the K so that it would come after Japan on the alphabet.

The theory has it's flaws though.

I've been a fan of bodybuilding for years. Drawing these characters lets me take things to an extreme with it though. I love how there is a line between huge and ridiculous, and how you can play with that line and still keep things functional, but as soon as you step over it - everyone knows.

Some of his nemisis included Mithridates and the Romans of his time.

Ok, as I'm SURE you're all aware of, I've had a fixation of sorts with the well endowed Naughty Nadya (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/35419433/?qo=14&q=by%3Ajuggertha+sort%3Atime+-in%3Ascraps). I found myself doing a number of pieces of her and decided to put them into a single page panel.
To help me with this I asked the forum members to write up the dialogue. There were a lot of cool (and funny) entries, but I decided to go with SuperMaoriFulla's take on it - in turn he got his character (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/39053708/) drawn up.
I had most of the pieces, it was just about putting them all together. I'm still thinking of adding a background someday... but not now. For now, it's finished. NN, and the rest of you that helped - thanks bunches.

It's the linework, it gives the image more definition, personally I think some of the other work would benefit from having some line work, it would make it stronger IMO.

It doesn't have to be a full outline like the Juggertha, but some line work in the face and arms just to add a bit more definition. (Maybe fading into the shadow or whatever)

That looks great, I like the pose and foreshortening gives a nice sense of depth...I think his head looks smalll (though I know this is to give the appearance he's huge, but it could be a little bigger) and his chin seems a bit "pointy" for my taste, would be nice to see it a little more squared.

On a more minor note, would like to see him looking a bit more angry and possible looking towards the viewer a little more.

Other than that it looks great and can't wait to see it coloured.
