Nope. Sorry there is no way to get around it. Sue cannot do that. Unless they feel its okay to turn Sue into a two timing whore. :o

I have no problem with characters having their eye on Sue but if she actually ends up thinking or acting on going with another guy then heads are gonna roll.

Maybe Sue simply shows compassion for this stranger from another world....looks past the outside....as she does Ben.....and he's attracted to this beautiful compassionate woman.....why does it have to mean they mack out at all.....

The last triangle wasn't a triangle either......it was one man wanting another woman, just because......the other 2 points weren't even there....

There are so many different turns this could take....the one I described above could definitely happen....Sue doesn't have to be attracted to him....just maybe wanting to help...

That's what i think it might be,Sue shows SS what humanity is and he recalls his past as Norrin through her,the only part that i don't like is Reed being a bit jealous but perhaps that will manifest itself as Reed being worried about Sue spending time with an entity they are not sure is to be trusted

I hate, HATE, HATE Jude Law but I think he could do this movie esp. for the Stax Reports observation of the similarities in his AI character. Whenever he was confronted with human emotions he had this blank but sad stare/facial expression that seems like he was trying to be human. A facial expression that I could see Surfer giving to Galactus when given an inhumane order.

Of course, the look of Surfer wont translate well IMO.

Slightly off topic - I wonder if they will introduce Frankie Raye in this movie as Johnny's love interest?

Remember the scene at the beginning of FF where Johnny kissed the girl in the convertible while he was riding a motorcycle? Supposedly the license plate of the car was "FRANKIE," but was never seen in the final cut of the movie.

No Carp it's a story arc that's from the 90's. I liked it. please man don't mention Ultimate Galactus/Silver Surfer. I just finished reading that Ultimate crap where Galactus is a bunch of mechanical bug looking ships. The Surfer was there and looked fine, but I didn't care for the story. They phucked it up bigtime. The only saving grace is that I suspect that those drones or ships are devices he created to gather the life energy of planets and they are connected to him while he stays at his base with the Surfer as the protector of these millions of vessels. This makes makes more sense if this is the route they are going for someomne like Galactus to use this method. I think sense the Ultimates, Xmen, and the F4 drove off the this so called galactus and they think it's over The familar one is going to show some where down the line, with the Watcher in tow. At least I'm hoping it goes down this way, cause if that was it then galactus is crap in the Ultimate universe.

Advanced Dark

They won't show Galactus in this film 'cept maybe a cameo at the end. They need something to carry over to part 3. But how the hell are they going to translate Galactus to the big screen without him looking like an abortion from Krull. That's a tough image to imagine in a live action film. They're going to have to take a huge risk and leave him how he is which to me would look weird on screen...or reimagine him somehow. Otherwise he's going to look like a big Trasnformers doll floating in space, or very weird. Hopefully when Silver Surfer turns on Galactus they'll send Thanos down to take care of it. :)

There's been some talk in the forum that SS may well be able to turn his silver look on and off especially given the rumoured love triangle with Sue
I can see this as a distinct posibility given that they would probably want to cast a hunky actor and not use as much CGI this way
How would you feel about this ?

I didn't see that comment before. That would be weird and something to ask Tim Story about. I don't think that's a good idea. However I'm not opposed to his origin being changed for the movies. Maybe an ex of Sue's that went missing years ago and was never found only to come back into her life as the Surfer but how could she fall in love with him without him turning back and forth. Stupid if they do that.

Why does she even have to be attracted to him...what if she just wants to help this sad guy from another world....maybe the attraction is for her and not vice versa....thats pretty much what we had the last time....well actually lastime we didn't have an attraction on either side...but in this case I could see him being attracted to this beautiful, compassionate, young woman that has a power very similar to his as far as gliding....doesn't seem too far fetched...

They had one last time, and she was a part of it...except only as a trophy for one....so again, why couldn't they do it like I said, she still loves Reed she still gets pregnant, and thats what the triangle is all about....???

You act like she has to fall in love with another guy for it to be a triangle....and we already know that doesn't have to happen....we just saw it...

I'm not acting like anything but that's usually the case with a triangle unless she's referring to her baby. BTW how old is the Surfer supposed to be? She kept referring to him as "boy" and she's not that old herself.

They should have an actor play the surfer, and for the have him wear the green screen paint. Then in post they apply a silvery reflective metallic sheen to his body, similar to the T-1000 in liquid metal form.

Thats a possibility, but they don't necessarily have to do that with post. Its possible that this time around they will be doing alot of the cgi during the actual filming. My hope is that is what they've been working on in Vancouver since they are already there.

I know what you mean, Kirby and Buscema did that with him in some of the comics. It would cool at points, such as when he was using his powers or perhaps describing his origin, but might be distracting if it were happening too often.

I don't think they screwed up Doom at all. We never saw Doom. We saw his origin and how he came to be the character we'll see in the next film. Why so many people expected Dr. Doom to appear in full in the first Fantastic Four film, have him have full materly of his powers, a huge evil empire, and hordes of doombots is amazing. The movie didn't take place over a span of years...it was merely a week or two...if that. The Fantastic Four lacked in other ways but I enjoyed the battle with the pre-Doom as I call him in the first film enough to buy a ticket for the second.

Man I respect you, but DO NOT GIVE THEM PIN HEADS AT FOX ANY IDEAS. The SS is an Alien and have NO CONNECTION TO EARTH WHAT SO EVER!!!! Jebus H Christ man don't ever say anything like that. That would ruin it for me and if i even hear of some lame as crap like that I WILL NOT SEE THIS MOVIE. What is so hard about a simple adaption? The SS is fine as is, he needs no changing. The only change i would accept honestly is having a well done CGI Surfer in action and him Silvering off in non action. Also since he's Alien why in the wirld would he be called the Silver Surfer? I say let Ben name him or the Earth media.

The Surfer shouldn't be in a love triangle anyway, seeing as he has NO EMOTIONS BECAUSE THEY WERE SURPRESSED BY GALACTUS. They didn't start to return until Alicia Masters woke up a spark of his humanity.

I'm sure who ever is cast as the SS it's going to be someone out of left field. We won't see it coming. I really liked the casting of everyone for the most part in the F4. I was dead set against Alba, but after seeing footage and the movie she's fine to me. Evans was great casting for me as well as Ioan Gruffod or however you spell his name. i was quite happy with Mcmahon as Doom, and the only reason I didn't ****** about Chiklis as Ben is because i like him and the shield, but truth be told he wasn't the best casting for The Thing. i read that Angel/David Bor whatever was up for the role, but the studio went with Chiklis. After finding that out i would have liked him over chiklis. At least he's 6'3 and would have been taller and bigger in make up, and he has a brow already, and he's a decent actor.

Ummmm yeah...thats what I've been saying, it won't be Alicia but it doesn't have to be some love trist between the 2 either....it may be a one-sided thing where he begins to feel something for this human that is showing him compassion that no one else has...it doesn't have to be mad passionate love where they go off with each other and Reed catches them......:o

Tha'ts really not that hard to grasp. His skin is silver and his mode of travel is surfing the space currents. Even on alien worlds the concept of surfing could exist. And The Watcher is the one that makes us aware of his name. Certainly on other worlds the name would be translated into their dialects, but it isn't as if he couldn't be called the Silver Surfer.

Not sure.

Maybe if they worked it into the movie storyline somehow?

Eg, when he is de-powered by Doom (if this happens) then whatever is left of his "body" instantly takes the common human form of the current planet, leaving him with a regular human body.

So, for all his time with the FF while they work together to retrieve the SS powers (questioning whether they even should given his role) and while SS and Sue are making googly eyes, he would be "human" then his powers are returned for the final act and he re-gains his traditional appearance?

The turning on/off doesn't make much sense. Unless they had the SS deliberately take human form when he arrives on earth to covertly assess the planet, then in this form he is de-powered by Doom and left a human?

I guess it could work in terms of storyline, but a strict on/off wouldn't make much sense.

Cheers.

Cheers.

If I see googly eyes, I'll be pissed.....:o

thats what I've been saying, it won't be Alicia but it doesn't have to be some love trist between the 2 either....it may be a one-sided thing where he begins to feel something for this human that is showing him compassion that no one else has...it doesn't have to be mad passionate love where they go off with each other and Reed catches them...

Exactly. Reed will feel threatened, but that's it; just like Ben was in the original story. I do hope they're planning to further develop Alicia in this film, but I can't see them throwing all those big scenes with the Surfer to a character we've barely met.
That kind of change I can live with.
But having the Silver Surfer go back and forth from cosmic to human? Absolutely not.
There's no rational reason for it. There's nothing about SS that needs fixing. I think portraying him just as he was in FF #48-50 is essential to this movie working.

Then again, I'm all for having H.E.R.B.I.E floating around the lab in the background, assisting Reed, or bumping into a grouchy Thing... Just don't let H.E.R.B.I.E out of that setting, and I think he would be a nice bit of comic relief. (And now I'll take cover...)

Instead of having a temper tantrum why don't you e-mail Tim Story and suggest this. I have a feeling though after the events of FF2 and FF3 they'll do a Silver Surfer origin film to address everything else. Not every franchise has to start with the origin for it to be successful. Of course it needs to be done right. So go to myspace and join up if you haven't already and e-mail Tim Story one time. Make up a list of your concerns and send it to him. He said he'd read them all...though he might not respond to them.

That rant didn't have to do with his origin, it had to do with the subject of the thread. Galactus encased him in the silver substance so he can't "silver on and off" or shouldn't be able to anyway. I don't think emailing Story would do a bit of good. If they make this change in FF2 it will be because Fox wants it.

I highly doubt most of the actors mentioned here would be interested being in a Fantastic Four movie just seems like it would be a step down for them. FF isnt exacly a respectable comic book movie.

I liked the movie but I knew it was just gonna be pop corn flick that cant be taken seriously. Im still unsure about them casting Alba shes great and all but as Sue Storm??? I mean they shoulda at least casted someone with the same skin tone as her for Johnny Storm since their brother and sister.

But Chris Evans was a good Johnny!

I think Wentworth would however make a good Silver Surfer, he does have the look. But I think he might be getting to big of a star.

Hmmmmm.....nope I think if he could Wentworth and many other actors would jump at this movie. Just because you didn't like the movie, and see it as not a respectable comic book movie. (BTW, I would probably agree with some of your problems with the movie) many, many ot hers enjoyed the movie. It did extremely well for a comic franchise not that well known among the masses. The sequel I'm sure will do well also. Just my opinion, but I disagree, I think many actors would jump at the chance, and many "big names" as well. We shall see, considering I have a feeling the choice has already been made. Just waiting for their choice...

Dragon

Exactly. Reed will feel threatened, but that's it;

But it's redundant. And it does Reed no good as a character to be constantly jealous over Sue. It does Sue no good to come off as a fickle b*tch who can't make her feelings clear to Reed. It does the relationship no good to constantly be on shakey ground. It does the Surfer no good to be a lovesick puppy (Note- he didn't have romantic feelings for Alicia, despite what Ben felt. And a good part of Ben's jealousy was his own insecurity about his appearance. Reed doesn't suffer from such problems).

There's so much more to the Galactus story than a silly love triangle. the fact that this is what the crew zeroes on, in the midst of an epic story about the end of the world says their focus is shallow and very faulty. If anything, with the FF defeated and the end appearing imminent, Sue should be making Reed feel the true depth of her love for him. Not making him him feel jealous.

That's my biggest problem with the FF and X-Men. We've spent the last 40 years seeing these incredible visuals on the comic pages, but then we only get very brief glimpses of watered down versions in the films.

I don't think it's fair to blame Story, cause he's a capable director, but for material like the f4 the jury is out on how creative he is because he was there for one purpose and that was to shoot the movie. Story had little imput, i don't care what he says. The F4 was a film put together by a committe of Fox execs to be a formula to make some cash of the Superhero film craze that is going on in Hollywood.

If Story was truly a fan of the comic, then the bothersome line in the movie for me wouldn't and shouldn't have seen the light of day. It's when Ben is back in his Rock form at the end and reed tells him he can still configure the Cosmic chamber to turn him back, and Ben says "HE FINE AS IS?" WHAT THE PHUCK?? There has been many rectons to the f4 and one thing remained constant and it was that reed could not cure Ben and he was guilt ridden over it, and despite Grimm adjusting to his rocky form, he does want to be cured. That right there just killed the entire movie for.

The FOX execs will do everyhting to crush Kirby's creations because of their unwillingness to commit a decent budget, take their time, and hire a director and writer who have some imagination and will adapt the movie and make changes that are needed but still sticking to the soruce material.

I really don't expect much creativity or a well written movie in the 2nd outing. My only hope is that Fox execs baulk at the price tag to do the Surfer and they scrape him and Galactus, letting them remain in the comics where they will not be horriably raped and changed for god knows whatever reasons that FOX gives. It's obvious that FOX isn't going to listen to the fans because the majority of their profits will come from the mainstream non comic fans. In typical logic there thinking is that we didn't listen to fans and all their complaints and we still made money.

So yeah we can Make the Surfer an exflame of Sue's who was disappeared in a shuttle mission and galactus will be the captain of the mission. all the crew died except the Cap and sue's old flame and they were exposed to the same cosmic cloud, but the guy who becomes Galactus was exposed a really long time. The phuck ups and raping possiabilites are endless concerning the SS/Galactus, but one thing will be a 100 percent certain and that is the Silver Surfer and Galactus will be the characters in NAME ONLY.

If we want to remain true to the comic. What should have happend is. The one time The Thing did turn back to Ben, Reed told him that once he changed back to Ben Grimm, if he ever became The Thing again, he would never be able to be Ben Grimm again. It was 1 way, 1 time. Next issue when he and Alecia we're in the restaurant, and the skrull, who was looking for The Wizzard, and was tracking him thru The Wizzrds gloves, which Ben had with him at the restraunt, came busting into the restarunt, and Ben used The Wizzards gloves to become The Thing again. So he was stuck forever being The Thing. That's the kind of scierno they should have used.

I think the "I'm fine as is" line was included for one simple reason - to give us a happy ending.

If they hadn't put that line in, the audience would have thought: "So they got rid of Doom, big deal, the real conflict was that Ben is horribly disfigured and that's still unresolved."

If I had anything to say about it, I wouldn't have done it that way, but I think that's the logic behind it.

With that in mind, there's no reason that little line has to tie their hands. That simple line isn't going to prevent good film-makers from re-visiting the issue if they choose to . . . and, again, if I had anything to say about it, they would choose to.

It had a melancholy ending in that Peter Parker had "found his calling" as Spider-Man, but broken-heartedly had to lie to Mary Jane by saying that he didn't love her.

Seriously though...this is a bad idea. It's just a departure that isn't necessary. Just for once I'd like to see FOX & Co. translate something faithfully from the comics instead of inserting an "INO" flavor into it. Silver Surfer is cool just the way he is. He doesn't need adaptation...and if they think he does they shouldn't touch the character then.

And Vin Diesel is a terrible choice for the role too. Please, do not go for the dumbed-down approach--the Surfer is incredibly intelligent, dignified, impressive. He has a certain presence and Vin Diesel--though I love the actor's aesthetic look for the role--is simply not it.

If they want Namor in this film they need to work it out with Universal (or whatever studio has the rights) and get him. If they can't do it, LEAVE IT ALONE. Get another concept. We don't have to have another love triangle!

Agreed:up: . I doubt they'll be able to get the rights or that a stduio is going to share the rights to the characters they have. I say use the Inhumans or the frightful four, but that's also depending on if those characters aren't already at another studio. I think FOX wants to adapt the SS cause he's already their property. I just don't fathom why they are hell bent on making changes. The SS in a love Triangle reeks of been there and done that and it's also totally out of his character. The Surfer was always detached more or so from humanity and always stumbled across galactic events where he must be the hero. The Surfer was rarly showed involved with a woman, he just didn't have all that drama going on. I think it's a little to late to be trying to give him human relevence and emotion. The man is not human and even when he was humanoid I got the impression that even then the race he was from wasn't big at expressing emotions. They seemed more sceintific in nature.

Fox isn't going to listen, cause going by what Alba said it appears they want to use him in place of Namor and go ahead with this triangle mess. These guys just never learn. They keep pulling these bad moves cause the general public knows nothing about the characters and they give FOX their big opening weekend and they make some money. I just don't know why Marvel at leadst puts it foot down and go, this is not what the SS is about. It's out of character. We the fans just can't win and get a good faithful adaption.

Use your entire brain Zer00. Not just the "defend really crappy movies" part of the brain. The title on the poster says "Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer". It's a title like "Batman and Robin". Silver Surfer isn't just going to make a cameo, he's going to be a major character in the film. That means the same guys who ruined Dr.Doom the first time are going to ruin the Silver Surfer this time thereby destroying all chances for a spin-off. Do the math "einstien".

Hard to say if the title is final even if it is at the show. Might just be a placeholder to advertise what it's about a bit. If it is the title...eck. Jesus is Starfire and Spiderman going to show up with the Incredible Hulk and have a ****ing picnic with the FF and Surfer?

This movie's a year away and already with the name-calling.
(Yeah, "Einstein" is name-calling.)
And by the way... you misspelled "Einstein," Einstein. ;)

(Anyone else reminded of that scene in Young Frankenstein?)

I really doubt this is the final title for the movie. I think this is to publicize the fact that the Surfer's long-awaited film debut is coming.

Many fans feel that the Surfer's rightful place (at least for his initial appearance) is in an FF film. He was born in the pages of FF, and he belongs first and foremost in an FF movie.

Just my opinion.

And of course they wont have any new pictures, they havent begun filiming yet.

And to the nay sayers, did you really think surfer was gonna get his own origin solo movie? I had no doubt that he would be introduced in fantastic four first as thats where he first started.

Exactly. The Silver Surfer is a well-regarded character, but he doesn't have nearly enough recognition outside fandom to bring in blockbuster-level crowds, not without massive promotion. And even then, I think it would be a mistake to introduce him any other way than as the harbinger of mankind's doom.
That's how he started out.

That's the problem for any Surfer fans. Chances are, the movie never would have been made as a solo effort, or, if they did do it, it almost certainly would have had a lower budget than FF.

It's easy to say: "I want (character X) done right with a top-notch director, top-notch script, top-notch special effects. . . "

. . . but who (other than Spider-man, Superman or Batman) ever really gets those kind of resources? I'd rather have a flawed FF film than the NOTHING I had for the last 35 years, and the same goes for the Silver Surfer.

Anyone catch Man-Thing when it went straight to the Sci-Fi channel?

From what I heard this movie would be faithful to the first appearance of Galactus. Am I gonna be mad about a publicity poster that 1) Is just the shots from the first movie 2)Dont even show Silver Surfer 3)Are just to get companies excited about the sequel and put their names on some products 4) A movie that hasnt even been shot yet.

That can't be the final title (Fox is bad, but not that bad) - it's just something they whipped together to get the word out on this film and that The Silver Surfer is in it, that's also why they used old pics, font, etc, etc.

Ulic Queldroma

I don't know what to think about the title. Chances are it's just a come-hither to sponsers and the title will change. Heck it's already gone from F42 to FF: The Next Chapter to FF and the SS. I think that if he's (SS) going to be major in this film the should call "The Arrival" or "Destruction" or as several posters have said "Doomsday". It kind sounds like a Scooby-Doo team up or a Abbott and Costello movie title. It just comes across kind of silly.

Don't want to see Surfer, and or Galactus thru the whole movie. At the end, after it says the end, just like they did with Doom. Their on the boat celebrating, then the screen says the end, then they go to Doom being loaded on the ship on his way back to Latveria. Do the same thing with the Surfer. The end, then cut away to the galaxy, and see the surfer flying on his surf board. And they go in for a close up, and he flys right into the camer and that's the end. Then do the Surfer movie, then bring on Galactus, and the Surfer for 3. Simple solution.

What I mean is, they are never referred to as the "FF" outside the comics. Nobody in the film referred to them as the "FF", nor were there any promotions as "FF".

Going from X-men to X2 is a different matter. The were originally called the X-men because they had "eXtra powers", but this was never brought up in the movie. One can assume in the movie, they are called X-men because of Xavier, but it's never stated.

Hence in the movies, the X never stands for anything. They are just called X-men and we see the :xmen: symbol. So going from that to X2, wasn't confusing.

Yea. Kind of like 50-50 as of now. Avi wants it 1st. One thing I have to say is, this has created much speculation. 1st one we knew it would be Doom, quite a while before filming, but this is something else. I disagree. Defending crappy movies is terribly pathetic. Anyone who does so shouldn't be allowed to see good movies.

That's purely speculation on your part. You don't know what compromises were made by the production team in the war that is a major motion picture.

As for your comparison to Schumacher, I think you're way off base. He grabbed some of the worst aspects of Batman's past and brought it into the forefront. The campy, neo roman, homoerotic architecture and imagery that was never an integral part of the Batman story. Story seemed to barter with the suits on adding newer, hipper additions to the story. He got and won the themes that were integral to the FF mytho. The family, the friendship, the quarrels, the loyalty. These are the pathos that must be respected. And for that I thank Story for fighting The Man for me.

Your opinion fascism will not stand. Get behind me Satan.

I won't deny anyone their right to express it, but I'll also have no problem scoffing at anyone who has a strong opinion at this point (though I generally won't post anything to feed them, just laugh quietly at my computer).

All opinions now are just that, opinion. Since the only things we know is, they start Aug. 15th, the 4 cast members are returning ( haven't heard much about Jullian ), SS will be in the sequel ( to what extent we don't know ). Diesel Pulls Out of Transit, Halts Project
Source: VinXperience June 22, 2006

ReelChicago.com reports that Vin Diesel has pulled out of Accent Pictures' $30 million action-thriller Black Water Transit, which was scheduled to start shooting in Chicago on July 31.

Accent Pictures said that they would like to return to Chicago once the starring role was recast. Kevin Bacon, James Franco and Sophie Okonedo were set to co-star in the film, to be directed by Samuel Bayer from a script by Doug Richardson.

Based on the Carsten Stroud novel, this project follows the divergent agendas of crooks, cops and lawyers as they clash over a shipment of illegal firearms, mafia ties and a double homicide.

Exactly my point. He was probably in talks for awhile and got things wrapped up and then cancelled Transit.

The Brooklyn accent would bother me. I don't know him well enough to know if he could lose it.

. . . but I actually like the idea of the Surfer not talking at all, but I doubt they'll do it that way particularly since they seem to be featuring him.

How much would they have to pay VD (those are some unfortunate initials, aren't they?)? I wouldn't want him if it meant they'd have to take his salary out of the SFX budget.

He's said it several times. Just google Vin Diesel Silver Surfer and it'll pop up or I'll find it hold on...

Ok this is before it was annouced he was gonna be in FF2 but that there was gonna be a Surfer movie first. Knowing this could spin off into another franchise he's surely do it:

July 14, 2005 - Ever since last March when he first mentioned there was a filmmaker who "had a very cool take on it," Marvel Studios CEO Avi Arad has hinted about the identity of the possible director of 20th Century Fox's planned Silver Surfer movie.

"There is a director who should make Silver Surfer," Arad has since revealed. "He is mentally committed to it he's doing another movie now. ... What's most important to me about this guy, first, is that he's incredible with visuals. But he's also a spiritual guy, a Zen Buddhist."

Although the rumor mill has pegged David O. Russell (I Heart Huckabees) as the director, Arad recently denied it, saying, "That's news to me."

So if it is not Russell then we are left with a few other notable filmmakers who are either Buddhists or have prominently mentioned Buddhism in their films.

Rob Cohen is one possibility. He is a practicing Buddhist and has helmed such big Hollywood projects as The Fast and the Furious and xXx. Interestingly, Cohen is already attached to another Marvel sci-fi project, Killraven. [B]His regular leading man Vin Diesel is said to be interested in the title role of Silver Surfer. "The Surfer is an intergalactic superhero," Diesel told the National Post in 2003, who is "one step further than all these regional superheroes."

Another director who fits the bill is Richard Linklater, who has mulled Buddhist philosophy in such films as Waking Life. Keanu Reeves, who stars in Linklater's forthcoming A Scanner Darkly, has also been rumored for the role of Norrin Radd. It should be noted that Reeves is a practicing Buddhist, and starred in Little Buddha.

Interestingly, Linklater shares an agent and manager with Chris Columbus, one of the producers of the Fantastic Four film who also so happens to be directing Sub-Mariner. I recently investigated the Linklater possibility but both a longtime source, as well as Linklater's reps, denied it.

A reader suggested Marcus Nispel, who helmed the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but I've not been able to confirm their claim that Nispel is a Buddhist.

Finally, there is Oscar winner Oliver Stone, a practicising Buddhist, who, according to this interview, expressed interest years ago in helming Silver Surfer. Stone has been rumored for various comic book films in the past, including Superman.

All of these filmmakers have projects in various stages of development and seem to fit Avi Arad's description. Perhaps we'll know the answer soon enough.

Note: He's mentioned it in other interviews as well in 2005.

Actually alot of his accent is "put on"....he talked about it one time on David Letterman.....he talked fairly normal and blew everyone away on that interview....I was surprised at how different his voice was from what we hear in movies...

I agree with you Willie. But if Ioan could lose his accent, and Chilkis could pick up the Brooklyn accent, I'm sure Vin can loose his Brooklyn accent. I'm not a fan of Vin, but for Surfer, I think he'd fit right in. Much better the Reeves. He would command a price, and if they go with Vin, that would confirm to me that the Surfer would have a big part, bigger then I'd want, because Fox wouldn't pay that much for a cameo.

Besides that he can surf (LOL) and he's got the build, and he's a box office draw that would boost the power of the sequel though I'd rather see him as Thanos.

As for Vin as SS-he isn't someone i would have chosen but i wouldn't write him off without seeing him in the role however i think if he stars then "Silver On" is very likely

Or they might show his origin as Norin before he's the Surfer unless Reed puts him in the transformation chamber too LOL. No I think Vin would do it even if his character was all CGI w/motion capture on his body. He'd love it. He could wrap up his filming in a a couple weeks in that case make a bundle and move on.

He can also play cool, mysterious, tough very well. I'd say SS is all three of those things.

I'm still not sure that he'd be my first choice, but I'd at least be interested to see what he could do with it.

His voice might be off but he could do the character justice and the rest of the world outside of the comic community would eat it up. They don't know crap about him. It's gonna be a new character to 90% of the audience...though they might have heard the name.

Why cast Vin Diesel other than the fact than he's bald?

Yeah exactly there's no other reason! :down

and Vin Diesel persona doesn't fit the Silver Surfer's personality. He's closer to the Thing (mean tough guy with a deep gravely voice) than he is to a innocent and child-like, compassionate, surfer.

He wouldn't be central if Dr. Doom was the main story and the Surfer shows up in the last 1/3rd of the film setting up part 3 with Galactus. Even if the Surfer was central is that bad? Wasn't Doc Ock kind of central in Spidey 2, The Joker in 89's Batman, Lex in Superman? Yep.

I agree if done wrong they could royally "F" it up like Blade Trinity and the Scooby Gang.

He may have moments of innocence and child-like compassion . . . but he also has moments of bad-ass, more powerful than anything on Earth, don't even think about looking at him the wrong way.

It's a lot easier for a tough actor to pull off a soft side than it is to have a soft actor pull off a bad-ass side.

When you read Silver Surfer's dialogue in the comics do you imagine Vin Diesels voice? If you do you don't understand the character. That's like hearing Pee Wee Herman's voice when reading Batman's dialogue.

There's a difference between the examples you gave and this, those were all solo characters in one on one rivalries with the main villain,in the case of F4 where will all the character development be for 4 leads heroes if the SS is central and i doubt Vin would come on board for a small part

Silver Surfer is holding back 95 percent of the time. Most of the time he doesn't want to hurt anyone. Why would you hire an actor based on the rare times when Surfer gets super-pissed? That's like hiring a comedian to play Bruce Wayne because he makes one joke
