View Full Version : Best Final Fight

This is it. This is what the movie has been leading up to; the final fight between good and evil! But, what was the best final fight in a movie? Let your opinion be known here!

As AMAZING as MOST of those films are, it's also just as AMAZING that MOST of those films had mediocre/lackluster climatic final fights. Fighting scenes during the course of those movies were better than the climatic fight themselves.

But to pick the best final fight, i'd have to go with...........Blade vs Nomak. It was fast and brutal. The part where Nomak swings Blade and his head clips the stone pillar....OUCH.

Next up i'd probably have to go with the Wolvie vs Deathstrike fight. As you are watching X2, that is a fight that you are anticipate to see, something that the Wolvie vs Sabretooth fight didn't live up to. And the unedited version (although a few more shots) of the fight makes it a little bit better IMO.

But the best overall and most memorable fight to me is the Spidey/Doc Ock train fight. It owns the climatic fight with Ock and any other comic book fight PERIOD. I also like the Hulk vs Hulk Dogs fight, also upstaging the climatic fight with pops.

Oh yeah, you forgot to include the DD vs Kingpin final fight also.

The train fight between SM and Ock was amazing, if that counts for a final fight. If not, Wolverine vs. Sabertooth took my breath away when I first saw it. Deathstrike was amazing too, but the location of the former (on top of Lady Liberty) was just too cool.

I chose Wolverine vs. Deathstrike.
Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock and Batman vs. Ra's where pretty good too.

As was said earlier, most of these movies have bad end fights.
Superman II would have won if we could have counted all fights.

Superman VS. Zod is the only one capable of being mentioned in the same breath as the Spidey/Doc Ock fight. Hands down, the train fight in SM2 is the best. Not even close.

I remember seeing the clock tower/train fight sequence between Spidey and Doc Ock for the first time on the big screen, and I was totally blown away at the scale of the whole thing. My favourite fight scene in a comic book movie to date.

(Yeah, I know it isn't the final fight )

The Wolverine Vs. Sabretooth wasn't breathtaking either. The best fight in that movie would probably be the one that took place in the cage between Logan and that other guy at the truck stop.

I found the images in the Statue of Liberty scenes to be pretty breathtaking. From Magneto descending as the unsuspecting world leaders celebrate from bellow with fireworks, to two feral men trying to kill eachother on the crown of Liberty. Sure, the action wasn't spectacular (there was that moment where Wolverine get's thrown off and catches the edge of the crown, pretty cool even if it wasn't polished as it could be) but the composition, location, and the scene overall was fantastic in my mind.

I agree, just thought the action was disappointing considering the two involved.

In my mind it was more than made up for by everything else. Whereas with Begins, I felt that not all that much happened. The train itself is not that striking as it has been a staple of Westerns and is somewhat tired. Spider-Man 2 used the interior of the train creativly, having spider-man swing through the handles like monkey bars while avoiding Ock's snake like tentecles, Begins used a tired location and didn't really use it in any creative way; the battle could have taken place anywhere. The visuals weren't anything spectacular. I'm all for the staccato editing, but these visuals felt too bright and flat, they weren't well all that well composed, and none of the images stuck with me. The action itself was bland. For the two most adept fighters in the movie, the fight itself seems more like a breif spar. I was more impressed with both their abilities during the scen where they were fighting each other on the frozen lake. In general it just felt rushed and not really noteworthy. Not what I would call the best final fight.

Batman begins final battle was awsome (Not perfect) but couldn't live without that scene. I remember being in the theater and thought to myself why would Batman waste his baterang on a train window!?.. And then over the sudden seeing him blow/slice the train in half and then escaping with such great style as the train fell onto the streets below was mind bending. I was all... ! !

God knows we need more movies like these:spidey: :batman: :xmen: :ff: :daredevil :supes: .

you know i really feel strongly about this question and i don't normally do this but i'm willing to shoot everyone down on on this opinion

in no particular order, the best final fights on this list (and one's that were blatantly left out) are..

daredevil vs kingpin
spidey vs goblin
blade vs nomak

the others fail on either having no great build up, less intense action, less climatic ending, worse choerography, too linear (one person winning, then another), no struggle, bad music, too many other factors taking away from the battle (scenes cutting away and so forth).

pure pure fighting, it's blade vs nomak

as good as spidey/goblin, it's too linear with parker taking a beating then dishing it out

daredevil (in the dc) had the most against him, been stabbed and went through two fights before his final one, just had enough to push it his favour, plus he didn't have to kill to win, always a factor (spidey showed no signs of remorse until goblin gave up his identity, funnily spidey showed no signs of remorse when pounding ock's face in until mary jane cried for help, interesting...). All in all this made the daredevil one the most intense.

the slow mo action through spidey's first beat down was nicely exaggerated and to this day the goblin uppercut is the top rung of baddie beatdowns.

spidey's bout finished in a classy/cheesy manner with goblin getting nuetered and bleeding from his injuries meh.

blade ended up not being able to beat nomak so instead of recovering from his wounds, nomak chooses death

daredevil takes the best moral victory of all the fights mentioned (except for the hulk who actually gives into his father's command which ends up being his own undoing), and i love his 'i'm not the bad guy montage at the end with the mighty kingpin on his knees'. Too many villains die in marvel dc films, there's really no need for it, so i enjoyed the ending.

the only thing that lets down the blade fight would be the use of the cheap cgi used during the scene

the only thing that lets down the spidey fight are the references to the matrix which now seem a little cliche and the fact there wasn't much of a scrap happening, far too organised.

the daredevil fight wasn't dynamic enough and the whole bout occured in a range of around 4 metres, they should have used the space of the whole office a little bit better (just like the blade fight uses most of the space in that office).

just some insight on what are (no opinion on this one) the three best final fights of a marvel/dc superhero film. (although all marvel)

So you probably didn't like the Goblin's death in the comics, seeing as how it was basically the exact same death.

To be fair, BLADE actually coined th' Matrix slow-mo stuff before there even WAS a Matrix. So, in reality, it's Blade's effect that th' Matrix just took to th' extreme.

And I already explained what happened to DD! Sue me! I love th' movie, was just an oversight. **** happens. Nothin' blatant about it, sometimes ya just forget stuff that's why there's an "OTHER" option.

November Rain
03-27-2006, 08:31 AM
well i'm sure slow motion has been used in fight films well into the eighties or possibly seventies before any of these films were around. i was just saying there are exact scene copies from matrix final fight to the spidey final fight (ie goblin missing spideys head and punching a piece of wall out is similar to mr smith punching a piece of wall out after missing neo head in the subway). based on this scene alone, i think it's fair to say a comparison between the films and they fights was trying to be drawn, hence my original analogy.

don't take my words to heart, they are just words and the poll itself doesn't interest me, i don't vote in these things, the oversight is more by other people failing to mention it more than anything else.

so rest easy.

His lower abdomen was punctured not his testicles. ;)

And he was only begging to keep Parker in one spot long enough for the glider to nail him.

And he was only begging to keep Parker in one spot long enough for the glider to nail him.that's opened to intepretation due to the curvature of the blade. in my eyes if he got one in the lower abdomen then he wouldn't have been able to lie flat on the glider the way he did when died off. trust me, he definitely got his gonads cut ;)

and begging's still begging, i think he's the only bag physical bad guy on the list that tried to cower out

Blade versus Nomak does it for me everytime! The violence is just so brutal, it's like, DAMN! They just wrecked each other from top to bottom! Blade breaking his arm, then him setting it back in place and elbowing Blade, that was just beautiful. I liked the use of the CGI stuntmen, 'cause the transition between the CGI and the actor is barely noticeable. Like when Nomak uppercuts Blade, and you just see all this detail in slo-mo. And then Blade at the end, shruggin' it off like he didn't just get his vital organs reassembled!

What was so amazing about Batman vs. Ra's? All they did was role around on the floor of a train for a minute or so. I like the way they shot and edited the fights in that movie, but it wasn't what I would call breath taking.

The only thing I really liked about the Batman fight was the end, when he has Ra's pinned and he tells him "I'm not going to kill you, but I don't have to save you either." It was a good fight, but it nothing about it was memorable to me.

However, the Spider-Man vs. Goblin fight, was pretty damn good. Not only was it brutal, but I liked the visuals that were used or the way they showed the punches landing. I love the little bit where Goblin throws in a bomb and you see the reflection of it in Peter's eye as it bounces toward him and explodes.

Being a big TMNT fan, I totally agree with you. All these posters are talking about current movies, it seems they're forgetting past fights, the TMNT one that you mentioned, Eric Draven's fight on the church roof in 'The Crow', the three musketeers battle in the basement of the Bastille in 'The Man in the Iron Mask'. Forget Spidey and Batman for a while and discuss other movie fights.

Supes vs the Krypton trio is the most enjoyable, but Blad evs Nomak is one of the most amazing fight scenes in any movie.
