Look, I think we all know that this forum has been a little slow, and tensions have been running high among some. I thought maybe a thread in here on anything other than SR spoilers might be a good way for us all to have a place to vent. I know there's a Community Forum, but I figured this way would be more visible.

I guess I'll get started...

I haven't been as into the NCAAs this year since I've been busy with transfering colleges, but I've followed it loosely. None of my picks made it to the final four, but I'd say I'd have to pull for George Mason to win it all. I'm from NoVA, and I love a good Cinderella story.

I like this idea SciFi. I hope the MODS keep it.

I was pissed off about the NCAA tournament this year. I forgot to secure and fill out my bracket, I am not a big fan of basketball so I didnt even watch one game!

I'm a huge NC State fan due to a few generations of legacy, but I'm going to WVU. I was praying they would face each other in the sweet sixteen so at least one of my teams would be in the elite eight, but State had to go and suck against Texas, and then Texas had to go and beat WVU in the final second. The whole school was in the same state of shock the next day. We were all asking ourselves, "Did we all just imagine the same thing, or did it really happen?"

I saw the highlights! Amazing. I was hitched on to BC and Gonzaga. BC because I am from the Boston area and I have routed for Gonzaga almost every year only because I bought a hat in high school with the Gonzaga wordk mark on it. Heh Heh.

Since this is a misc. thread I'll put this here...

In the past I have said some bad things about SR, but I just got so mad that there won't be a new fresh story for the new film.

But the more I see the more my anger is fading and I'm starting to get excited. I just want to apologize to all you fans who might have read some of my rude and stupid remarks.

I am sorry. I've heard rumors of a new Supermovie for years and when it was finally going to happen I just had visions of a new faithful story, and with tech being what it is nowadays I just pictured so much and had hopes of a battle between Superman and a Supervillian.

I just wanted something new. I hope Superman Returns will be good though, and am going to keep an open mind about it. I just want to see big Comic book movies, epics.

And alot of comic films are being some what dumbed down like the FF, and I just want to see them live up to their potential, so many filmmakers make the excuse they can't do this or that but, this isn't the 70's anymore, there is technology to do these movies, and it doesn't have to be campy, as long as they don't do it that way.

Superman is a good example, showing tights aren't bad if done right, same with Spidey. Just do it right and it'll come out right.

Dr.Doom's back story would've been so cool, it would've been nice to see something different, other than a Norman Osborne ripoff, just another evil businessman.

They could've done that whole diplomatic immunity thing and so on but nooooooo, they had ta' rush it and get some crappy movie that could've been awesome.

I had yet another dream where I saw Superman Returns and it sucked. Routh's acting sucked and the film bored me.

Afterwards, I was talking to Bosworth and she asked me if I liked the film and I avoided the question. Then Singer asked me if I wanted to come over to his house (which didn't cause concern in the dream) and I agreed, so I was going to get a bunch of my work together to show him in an effort to get a job in movies.

http://www.vfxworld.com/?atype=articles&id=2771You'll need a username and password to read it, but I posted all that was said about SR.

The Prevalence of Previs
Andrew Jones, cto for Pixel Liberation Front (Superman Returns), says, “We are doing a lot more work to visualize the look and feel of the projects we are working on. When people watch our more recent previs, they typically have a much more emotional response than they did in the past. In the technical arena, there have also been several leaps forward recently toward using the tools from previs to enhance the actual shooting. For example, on motion-capture sets, it is now possible to look at a live retargeted CG character being driven by an actor on the stage. As that sort of technology takes hold, previs is becoming an even more important tool for preparing the digital assets and sets that will be needed later in the process of making a film.”

The storie were just icky. I can't stand that voice over crap when Lois is flying with Supes in the first, and the world turning thin at the end which made no sense, and in 2 the kiss thing etc.

Well, its hard to say. Rob Schneider didn't really do anything funny at all in this one. Maybe a few parts, but he was the serious, non-loser of the group. Everyone looked up to him. There were some instances that got a pretty good laught. John Lovits saying he sat down to pee when he was a kid was nice. There are a few surprises in there for some people that liked a certain 80s show with a car and a certain 60's show with a car, but I wont give away much more than that ;) I'd give it about 3.5 out of 5 or something like that. Its a decent film with a few good laughs, but I'm a big fan of Anchorman, and since that movie, I've yet to find a comedy I laughed that much when I watched it.

Well i'll admit it isn't the most ground breaking news, and yes Reeves used wire settups to do his stunts however Routh i guess had to have his extra braced because he couldn't handle the phyical strain. I remember watching the making of featurettes from the original and seeing how on top of it Reeves was. Donner himself commented on how he was up for anything and took to his wires(which i'm sure were far less sophisticated) like a proffessional.

Unless someone from the SR production also worked on the STM production, it's impossible to say Routh didn't want to work as hard as Reeve did.

And chances are anyway that Reeve did work harder than Routh due to technological advances. Does that make Routh lesser of a person? No. If it does, then we might as well say Christian Bale is pansy compared to Michael Keaton, since Keaton had to wear a hot, rigid, forty pound rubber suit.

True, true. All i'm saying is he complains a bit. I don't know any more details than that. This guys sibling works directly with singer and I'm assuming that's where he got the bit about Rouths prissy qualities. Whether that's true or not is heresay.

Hey there,
just a little tid bit here i got from a VERY reliable source who had access to the set for a few days. I asked him if he'd met Routh and he said he had and that he was kind of a "panzy". Not as apt to do as much physical work as Reeves had, and that they had to make special wire setups to overcompensate for his shortcomings in the action dept. Just thought you'd like to know.

Crap rumor that has already been squashed. Routh did way more complex wirework than Reeve did. Routh had different harness setups from the traditional 2 wire to more complex multiwire rigs for more complex actions.

It had nothing to do with his lack of strength.

Yeah... since Routh has said in interviews that the wirework was painful but he didnt complain about it becasue it was a small price to pay to bring the character on screen.

Wow those tornadoes sound scary. Even though I near Boston, and we get few tornadoes, my grandfather happened get caught in one many years ago. It was called the Worcester Tornado of 1953 and it was considered the 20th most deadly tornado in U.S. history.

He was and actually still is a mason and got caught in the tornado while out at one of his jobs. Luckily he survived, and it is quite an amazing story of how he did.

A low pressure system, responsible for producing severe thunderstorms in Michigan and Ohio the previous day, brought severe weather to New Hampshire and central Massachusetts. The tornado, up to a mile in width at times, tracked 46 miles through Worcester County. It mangled steel towers built to withstand winds of 375 mph. Debris from the tornado fell in the Boston area, and adjacent Atlantic Ocean.

If anyone is interested the link below has slides from the aftermath of this tornado.

the hype has grown..no i take that back..the posters here have grown.. its a pleasure to be on here..i love talking to you guys, all of you.

Some backlash towards GAM though, some think we are elitist posters who are full of themselves. You should see the hate mail I get.

Same here...

I was doing research for a Batman vs Superman script I was working on, then I found Hype and found out that there was a new Batman almost completed and Superman Returns finally coming into play. Both of them slipped under my radar and I knew nothing about them.

I started talking about Superman Returns so much that my girlfriend wanted to kill me. So I decided to sign up for the boards and talk about it here. Now she is jealous of the boards! Irony?

I was looking at some old pics last night. When I was a kid, my dad was stationed at Bentwater Air Force Base. We lived in a little place just outside of Ipswitch. Just was wondering if I could find someone who's been there recently.....cause I haven't seen it for more than 40 years. The pics are so old and make everything seem so quaint and rural....it's probably all new buildings now.

Hey there.

I had to take several months off from here and work due to illness. I'm currently getting all the paperwork together to officially retire. The Mrs is doing fine...just having to put up with me hanging around the house being a bum more than usual.

I hadn't really thought about looking for stuff on line...hadn't really thought about it much at all until now, just got a little nostalgic and remembered there were British folks on here....thought I would see if any of them were from around the area.

Sorry to hear about the illness. Hope your recovering well. Paperwork is time-consuming... I know. But I guess once your done with it... it's rest n relaxation all the way. What's your post-retirement plans?

Plans.....do as little as possible.:)

Actually....work on getting my health up and my weight down.....go through boxes and boxes of stuff and see what I really need to keep and what can be tossed....eventually find a part time job for a little extra money and to keep busy.

Right now.....try and get myself in good enough shape to make it to the Superman Festival this June.
