For some reason EA have gone with a very cartoony look to the game... thats why the cars look like crap and thats why the robots have more detail.

If they added a ton of texturing, this could be pretty good looking. It looks like they already have some pretty good lighting effects, and the robots don't look half bad. Superman looks more unfinished than awful, but I just hope thats exactly the case, and them not calling it a "creative decision". After seeing some of the stuff done by EA on the 360 (Battlefield 2, Fight Night), I actually have hope they'll pull off something pretty good.

Or at least, hopefully better looking than Gun.

The Will Suck Factors been on the internet since before 9/11/01. We used to use it at the Half-Life forum back when it was under Sierra/Vivendi.

I will use the scientifically approved 'Hideo Kojima' factor to scientifically slice and dice the game up and disect it's chances for sucess. The lower your Kojima factor score, the better the catogory will be. In theory.


Graphics: The 'Hideo Kojima' factor laid down the basic ground rule that is the rule of the 'anonamaly'....which is to say even the worst gaming turds will have one decent thing about them. In the Metal Gear Solid series, this manifests itself as the graphics. No matter how bad the storyline, no matter how the controls feel like your pad has been dipped in treacle , the graphics always looked wonderful. Sadly, this does not seem to be the case for Superman. The graphics are cartoony, and whilst not terrible, lack the polish we have come to expect from ea. Kojima factor: 75%.


Story: Whilst I cannot say with any certainty what the storyline will unfold as, it already looks to have more sucessfully implemented a giant robot than some 'other' series out there which spawned the Kojima factor. It gets points for that at the very least. Also bonus for not having poorly worded sentences that make no sense ('the battlefield is eternal'? wtf?) Kojima factor: 50%.


Gameplay: with 80 square miles, 300mph flying and all the abilities of the fabled 'superman' at your disposale, this seems to be very ambitious. The Kojima factor has thus far been limited to games in which eating a fish and using a splint is your biggest innovation, so for balls alone, this gets points. will it be carried off well? who knows? But I , and the Kojima factor, remain optimistic. Kojima factor: 69%.

1.)A trailer that displays NO real acting what-so-ever.
2.)I agree, the best indication of future performance is past performance.
3.)A hudge budget Means NOTHING other than that ur gonna see alot of special fx, and that the actors are overpaid, does in NO way deem the movie good.
4.)Like THWIP said, except for the MAIN STARRING role, Routh is NOT in any way a proven actor, doesnt mean he wont do great, but he is not "proven".
5.)Years in the making, again doesnt really hold a lot of water, if you spend years making a house out of crappy materiels, the end result will be a crappy house.

What im getting at, is just because you have these variables does not mean everything will add up. I tend to agree with you and think the movie will be fine, given that i havent seen anything to make me think otherwise.

Sorry but I don't find totally clean cut, uber powerful heroes who never loose (or very very rarely looses) and is pretty much a god and has no problems in life whatsoever interesting. at all. It's never been more obvious to me that a hero is never really in danger. I mean we are always aware the hero is gonna come through, but sometimes there is real doubt...not so with superman. I always knew he was gonna come through unchanged and with very little trial and tribulation.

I ironically like smallville though (perhaps because he is not uberpowerful and can actually show vunerability) and the death of superman and return archs. But aside from that? I find the character to be boring, though still more interesting than 99% of Dc's roster (Batman and Constantine aside).

For once I have to disagree with you. Say this about 2 years ago and I would've agreed with you. DC Comics has been amazing lately and that's a lot coming out of me. I used to hate DC.. Like literally LOATHE DC.. Like, I thought that they were scum.. I was a Marvel Zombie.. But lately, Marvel has been putting out **** while DC has been putting out epic, amazing stories that really are great. Lately DC has really outshined Marvel and put out a lot of consistantly great stories. They really know how to write superhero stories which is something that they forgot to do for a long time. Now I wish that Marvel's sales will start going WAY down and they realize how bad they're doing.

Comics are going to end up going to a bad place again. The problem is that eventhough book suck ass on a consistent basis, fans still buy them. They always think, oh, this book used to be good, so it's gonna get better. The thing is that they don't and people keep buying books that don't deserve their money. It's really the reason why Marvel is still making more then DC. Marvel USED to make amazing books and DC USED to make **** ones. Now that their roles have reversed, people have to get back into DC and out of Marvel. If people keep dealing with the writers at Marvels bull****, it's going to stay that way. Marvel is a business and businesses care about money more then all else. If they keep making money, why would they **** with their equation?

But yeah that reminded me of EVERY Batman fanboy ever. The sad thing is someone at IGN actually DID write a few parapgraphs on how Bats by his lonesome could take Glactus. I would say I am a wolverine fanboy, but there is no way he could take people like Galactus and Sentry , and he has years of training plus a healing factor, enchanced speed, strength and senses (though not in the upper super human range obviously) and unbreakable claws. There's a difference between being a fan and being deluded.

house of m was barely significant, that couldve told the whole damn thing in the x men books, it wasnt even a title that barely affected the entire MU, and whats the point in killing of mmillions of so mutants only to have 198? lame! plus the damn thing only affected those on the x men and new avengers. coincidently:rolleyes:

Bendis does sell a **** load of books, but not because they're good stories. Bendis gets on high profile runs such as House of M and Avengers Disassembled and Marvel markets the hell out of them, saying that this series will leave EARTH SHATTERING consequences, only to kill off a character in order to let the run have a lasting impression as "The one where Hawkeye dies." or something or another. Bendis is a lazy writer. He doesn't write good stories, he writes memorable ones. The difference with that is, his stories will be remembered but not in a good way. They'll be remembered as the arc where so and so died.

Avengers was always a popular book with a very strong fanbase. The reason Bendissold Disassembled so well was because it was supposed to be earth shattering that would stir up the Marvel Universe forever. The thing is, it didn't really stir up anything, everything is back to normal with a brand new team of All Stars. The reason New Avengers is doing so well is because it's NOT an Avengers book. It's not hard to sell a book with Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, Iron Man, and a mystery character who is cranked up to be Marvel's Superman.. And plus, having characters on the cover that don't even appear in the book is also another reason to attact readers. Avengers always sold. Look at Red Zone, that made a lot of money and was in the top 3 constantly. It goes to show that the Avengers could consistantly be a top 3 book with a solid writer.

I hate Joe for a lot of reasons. I think hes done a terrible job in running Marvel. I know that comics really are a business and everything, but everything can't be about money. Y'see high quality books like The Thing and She-Hulk are on the verge of getting cancelled month after month because they don't make huge sales. These books have HUGE fanbases, but not enough to make it a huge sell. Now rather then, I don't know, taking a little bit of adspace away from Civil War and giving it to littler known GREAT books. They don't do that though, y'know.. DiDio really cares about the fans and what they think. Another thing, I think it's great that Queseda does interviews like once a week for Newsarama but I think what he says in the just makes him look like an *******.. The fact that he openly admits that he kills characters just because he doesn't like them and how it's the writers fault if books don't get sold.. I don't know, he seems like a real pompous *******.

I don't think Bendis is the devil himself either. I just don't think that he's that good of a writer. His Daredevil stuff was amazing, I think he wrote it perfectly.. But like, other then that all the stuff that I've read from him has been meh. I think he goes for the shock and awe of things way too much rather then focusing on writing a character driven story.

I read monthly titles, yes.. Not every single comic, though. If I don't like something, I don't give my money to it. I read some Marvel comics still. I read Planet Hulk, She-Hulk, the Runaways, and the Ultimates but thats about it. I read mostly DC because they have a lot better writing. I really think that within a year, DC will be on top in the company wars and Marvel will start getting its act together and writing kickass stories again.

True, it wasn't a significant story. True, it didn't break the internet in half. True, it could have been done as an X-Men story instead of some overhyped crossover. True, Marvel has done a horrible job only making it affect the X-Men books and New Avengers. True, the preceding story (Avengers: Dissassembled) completely sucked ass). And true, it was completely predictable. But it was a good story at least. For once Bendis didn't completely suck ass at writing a superhero story.

It's not the story of House of M that dragged it down to mediocrity, it was the aftermath: Decimation that did it. Marvel had an oppourtunity with it and they completely blew it.

Because like All-Star Batman and Robin: The Boy Wonder, stupid people are buying this stupid book. Bendis is a great writer: on Daredevil and Alias/the Pulse. New Avengers and Ultimate Spider-Man suck. Also his other superhero books: Ultimate X-Men, Ultimate Fantastic Four, Ultimate Marvel-Team-Up, the Avengers sucked. I bet that Spider-Woman will suck. Actually you're both right:

1. Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, and Iron Man sell books. Especially Spider-Man and Wolverine. All of them together just sweetens the pot. Don't be surprised when the Hulk and Thor join the Avengers.

2. Bendis sells books. Bendis is Marvel's top writer (like Johns is for DC) and he has done some great stuff such as Alias/the Pulse and Daredevil. Bendis's only problem is his ego, just because he's a great writer doesn't mean he can do everything. Some people like New Avengers for some reason, but that book is complete crap too, like I said, Bendis should stick to his strong points. Sales do not equal quality.

Spider-Man was pretty well made, apart form campy characters and some really bad dialogue.

X2 was good, a little too spread out and no real direction for the story.

Xmen was a great introduction to the new X universe... Let down by some sloppy moments and a lack of funding.

No, he's been portrayed as a pretty sinister figure a number of times before. Try reading DKR, The Killing Joke and Arkham Asylum. He may crack silly jokes and act cranky giving off the impression as being yet another cheesy villain, but that's usually before or after he shoots someone in the spine followed by raping the victim, taking her pictures and slapping them in a madhouse on huge projectors to drive her father insane from the trauma or gassing hundreds of attendees on a TV talk show or beating someone to death with a crowbar.

Sure, the Joker was pretty campy in the Pre-Crisis stories, and occassinally still is, but the present state of the character generally is that he's a peerless psycho, a lunatic who'll mercilessly take a life in the most despicable way and laugh his ass off about it because he's thinks it is funny. Nothing campy about that.
