Reading in todays New York Post and says he would love to do the role, what do you think about it, i always think its cool when an actor likes a superhero that is'nt one of the more popular cause then you know he would wanna do it justice not just for the paycheck.

I think Hal Jordan was beeter choice for main character as Green Lantern.
Flame on!

Doesn't mean John Stewart couldn't be in it. Kudos to Heysbert.
Him and Lohan should form a wannabe JLA.

I think Haysbert might be kinda old for Jon, unless he wants to be Kilowag like in JLU

You can't say the man sucks as an actor, because he's an excellent one. The only reason he wouldn't be welcomed is because he's a tad older than Stewart, and most fanboys want Hal or Kyle. And whoever put him and Lohan in the same category needs to be shot.
Kilowog suits him way more.

Youre welcome to try.
He is in the same category though; unlikely candidates.

I would've actually loved to have seen him as Martian Manhunter.

I think Dennis Haysbert would make a great John Stewart if they went the route of having a black man as Green Lantern. Personally, as much as I like Hal Jordan from a classical standpoint, I think John Stewart was a real credit to the Lantern Corps in JL/JLU, and would make a great Green Lantern on-screen.
John Stewart shouldnt be a Lantern in this film, just a man Hal befriends in the military (ref JLU).

Haysbert would play Kilowag not John Stewart :p .

I also think that Haysbert is too old to play John Stewart and I don't think a Green Lantern movie should focus on that character.
He's a good actor, though, and I wouldn't mind haveing him in the movie in some way.

I think he is nearly 33-35 years old.

He should be kilowog again like thevileone said :D that would be friggin sweet.
Dennis Haysbert would own as John Stewart... good lord yes. Yeah, he has a great voice, Kilowogg, Martian Manhunter, a number of aliens would be better off for being played by him, but as John Stewart, Haysbert would simply own. Besides... he's already done Kilowogg. Why retred old ground?
If Monica Belluci (40) can play WW (looks near 20) The Dennis Haybert (looks 35) can SURELY play John Stewart (no one knows how old he is)...

Haysbert would be an inspired choice. He has the look, voice, build, presence. He would make the perfect John Stewart.
And Monica Belluci would be a good Wonder Woman. Same with Charisma Carpenter.
I don't understand this crap about actors and actresses being too old to play a part. Both Haysbert and Belluci look healthy, and I know they would be capable.
Some of the 'older' actors have paid there dues and by still working means that they've improved on their craft and have found a way to connect to audiences. Why entrust a possible franchise on 20 somethings all the time? Tobey Maguire's are hard to find. They don't come along everyday.

I agree with you Michael Keaton was'nt a spring chiken when he was cast for the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne and his acting is what won him the fans respect

I actually agree with you. Haybert would make a great John Stewart, actually. Doesn't hurt that he's obviously a fan, either.

I'd rather have someone familiar with the character than someone just jumping in and not having any knowledge whatsoever.
Young, fresh faced 20 year old newcomer - "Yeah, man...I never really read comic books, I always was busy with dating and ****. But my agent told me about some Green Lantern movie thing based on some geeky comic book, and I think it would be a good way for me to stretch my acting chops, y'know? I've never read a book, but I'm gonna bring my own flavor to the GL, ya know?"

But it isn't the fact that he is unknown, it is bothersome that he is uneducated.
