What I really hope is that Nintendo will stop trying to mess up the formula of their Franchises like they did with Super Mario Sunshine. There must have been at least 12 NGC games with Mario in teh title and not one was a proper Mario game. Nintendo can't rely solely on their franchises, but they need to realize that it's important to make their franchise titles very good because that's what got gamers with them in the first place. I think not having a metroid title for N64 was a mistake, as is teh Mario/NGC issue. Twilight Princess looks like it will be awesome, and I'm hoping for good things with the other Revoloution titles like Metroid Prime 3 (especially cause the TV remote/Nunchuk combo looks great for FPS), Super Smash Bros. Revolution and Mario 128

The Gamecube could produce graphics like RE4, with a console almost twice as powerful, the graphics should be like this. I don't think they'll get too much better than this, though.
But they're definitely good, they look like Half-Life 2.

Plus dev kits are similar to the NGC dev kits... developers dont have to work too hard to get good looking launch titles.
Its a pitty that REVO wont had a HD option though.

I think by the time the Revolution sees it's day, it will get graphics around the level of Condemned. But Red Steel's graphics are good, especially for an early game. Ubisoft doesn't usually fail on the graphics front. At least, not their good studios (whoever made those Batman games will die).

Gangster style is cool though. It should do double damage.
So what's the control scheme, move with the (pardon the terminologies) "dildo" and aim with the "remote"?

That looks about right as far as graphics go. I wasn't expecting extreme photorealism, as that's not what I want when I play fictional games. I want stuff to react in a realistic fashion, but it doesn't have to look perfect. If they can capture that, I'm down like Chinatown.

Move forward with the analog 'nun-chuck'... and look left and right with the remote. No reason to hate, this should feel much similar to key board and mouse set up, then any other control set up out there (ps2/3 and 360 im lookin at you)

More information has made its way to PGC regarding Red Steel. The Revolution game takes even greater advantage of the three dimensional controller movement. Moving the controller toward the screen allows the character to push over objects, while pulling it back toward you is the reload function. Twisting the controller will allow you to lean around corners for extra sneakiness.
As far as integration of gameplay and story, throughout the game your character learns new moves from his Japanese senseis. If your character disrespects either sensei (in particular, walking away while they are talking) they will respond angrily. The extent of their anger, though, is unknown at this point.
Also, you earn the respect of Yakuza bosses by sparing their lives when defeating them in a sword fight. Photographs demonstrate that the sword is held in the two-handed samurai style. One photo shows a player holding the Revolution controller behind his head with the corresponding screen shot displaying the hilt being held up to the character's face.
While details remain scarce, there is mention of multiplayer. Unfortunately, it remains unknown if it will be available for online play.

First off: if anyone seriously thinks that the graphics of Red Steel look PSP level, they are crazy. The trolling and BS about the graphics is irrelevent now, and it's clear that your argument gets stupider and stupider as Revolution news comes out. Are the graphics mindblowing? No. But they are certainly good, and on par with much of the stuff we're seeing on the Xbox 360. So please, go somewhere else and act childish.
Details:
-Game development started shortly after E3 2005. Ubisoft saw and demoed the controller before E3 2005.
-Ubisoft Paris took their idea directly to Iwata and Miyamoto, and were given the go ahead. After that meeting they were given prototype controllers. The article states that Ubisoft worked "closely" with Nintendo's engineers in Japan on the title
-Game Informer mentions that while conducting the interviews with Ubisoft, they were handed the "latest version" of the controller
-During the beginning of the game, you are encouraged to use your weapons ruthlessly, but as the game progresses you become more proficient and strategic. This gameplay idea led Ubisoft to decide to give the game a martial arts setting. "Enter the Yakuza"
-The first third of the game will be all about being "brutal by necessity"
-You will be less precise and favor more devastating weapons (machine guns)
-As you progress and become more precise, smaller guns will be used
-"The goal...is to use five bullets to kill five enemies"
-"When fighting with this level of skill, the music and sound effects will reflect it, remaining calm and peaceful"
-"When you fight brutally, the sounds around you grow increasingly more intense"
-"Audio feedback"
-Freeze shot: by fighting effciently you fill the Freeze Shot gauge...fighting chaotically causes to decreases
-When the gauge is filled you can hit a button to momentarily stop time, and then target specific locations on enemy bodies
-Headshots thus are tempting, but non lethal shots, such as shooting guns out of enemy hand, can be more beneficial
-By defeating high ranking leaders who command others and sparing their lives, you will be rewarded. He will offer you respect and help (guns, help, new weapons, alternate paths, etc)
-Respect plays a MAJOR part in the game
-Flailing your sword isn't a smart idea
-Specific motions with the controller will trigger combos (in the final game)
-Tracing an X in the air, for instance, will unleash a devastating attack
-You can stop these combos at any time by simply pausing your own movement. So if you do something that leaves you open to attack, you won't be screwed
-New moves will be taught to you by two mentors in the game
-One will teach you gun tactics, and another will teach sword tactics
-If you don't show the proper respect to them, they won't help you
-Friendly/respectful interaction is tied to the controller
-You signal "yes/no" answers by nodding the controller up or down or shaking it from side to side
-You show extra respect by bowing to the masters
-Ubisoft is still coming up with other interactions
-"You can act disrespectively as well: there are no cut scenes in the game - all conversations take place in game, as in Half Life 2. However unlike that game, characters wont keep prattling on if you walk away from them. They will react angrily to your imputent behavior"
-Staying in the master's good graces is key: they give you missions that can be tackled in any order
-You track down the gang leaders and try to turn them to your side. If you don't, they will join Tokai's (the main villian) gang
-You have to prove you are worthy to them by battling them and sparing their lives.
-You will need as many of them with you as possible to face Tokai. Without their help, you'll have a rough time when you finally face him
-You turn gang leaders to your side by besting them in battle and stopping a deadly blow miliseconds before it strikes
-Training sessions are offered by the two masters so you can hone your skills

I guess they're on par with what we're currently seeing on the 360 if they're talking about Hitman Contracts and Tomb Raider, but otherwise it's not really competing.

Ubisoft Paris? According to Gamespot they've only done the PS2 port of SplinterCell: Pandora Tomorrow. I wonder why they needed a "go ahead" from Iwata and Miyamoto.

Ugh... time manipulation in games really needs to stop soon. Between TimeShift, Dead to Rights 2, Gun, et cetera, it's really not being handled as well as the older games that used it much better like Max Payne and Prince of Persia.

Sounds exhausting! I remember Kings Quest 8 had it's characters get mad if you walked away while they were talking. They had some funny things to say if you did.

My only concern is that it's not giving the genre features that can only be done on the Revolution. But this team is pretty inexperienced, I expect Nintendo and some excited Japanese designers to do more innovative things.

Red Steel confirmed for Revolution launch
Ubisoft officially announces its first game for Nintendo's next-gen platform; says game will be at E3 and take advantage of motion-sensing controller.
Less than a week after it was first revealed, Red Steel now officially exists. Ubisoft today announced that it is indeed developing an action game for Nintendo's next-generation console, the Revolution.
As rumored, the game will feature a combination of swordplay and gunfire, which will make use of the Revolution's controller. Also, as suspected, Red Steel's gameplay will be so dependent on said controller's motion-sensing functionality that it will be exclusive to the platform. "We have been working closely with Nintendo to take full advantage of the innovative controller to create a thrilling experience that can only exist on the Revolution," said Serge Hascoet, Ubisoft's chief creative officer.
Today's announcement, though, was not just a retread of previously known information. Ubisoft revealed that the game will indeed be a launch title for the Revolution, which Nintendo is targeting to go on sale in North America by Christmas. "Nintendo is excited to have Ubisoft bring Red Steel to the Revolution launch lineup," said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's outspoken executive vice president of sales and marketing.
Ubisoft also dropped the first details about Red Steel's plot. Set in contemporary Japan, the game will make players "master both the ancient art of the katana and the sophisticated technology of modern firearms, taking advantage of the emotion and immersive gameplay possible only with the Revolution's remarkable controller."
Ubisoft also announced its intention to make Red Steel a franchise in the same vein as its popular Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia series. It promised to "disclose more specific information on Red Steel in the coming months" and to show off how it would work with its controller at the forthcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo next month.

WELL, CONSIDERING THEY HAVE 3 OR 4 DIFFERENT COLORS PLANNED (INITIALLY) FOR THE 'REV', I CAN'T IMAGINE WHY YOU THINK THEY'D STICK WITH JUST ONE COLOR FOR THE CONTROLLER. BESIDES THAT, WHITE IT THE CHEAPEST COLOR, MANUFACTURING WISE, FOR ANYTHING; IT'S DEFINITELY THE BEST COLOR FOR PROTOTYPES.
BTW......THE PICS ARE SMALLER, SO THE CONTROLLER LOOKS SMALLER (DUH). BUT, IF YOU STUDY THE PROPORTIONS, IN RELATION TO THE FINGERS/PALMS, YOU'LL SEE THEY'RE THE SAME SIZE IN BOTH PICS. ;)
