I'm officially caught up and can regularly participate in this thread
I'm quite excited about Osiris' debut as I can't get enough of the Marvel Family(excluding Uncle Dudley).
Also, I'd like to see some pointless Montoya lesbian action every 3rd issue just because. That is all.
That looks cool, but all of this Lex stuff keeps filling me with dread because I know that, however awesome he is in 52, by the time OYL hits he'll be a retard thanks to "Up, Up, and Away." :(
Oh, what's going on now in Supes/Lex's drama that leads you to believe that?
TheCorpulent1
10-18-2006, 08:30 AM
"Up, Up, and Away" basically established comic-Lex as synonymous with movie-Lex. It's sad, really.

Not crazy, VERY sane. There's someone he's trying to flush out. I bet it's Supernova. That's my guess since Booster's dumb ass bit the big one tying to out-do 'Nova. I expected him to show until I realized that would have been too much progression for one week. :csad:
Why the hell are the characters on the next week's preview page wearing that Ambush Bug antenna thing on their faces?

In other news, I'm tired of Isis dragging Black Adam around by his short hairs. I want unabridged and unmitigated violence from BA, not this 'this is no longer the way' crap. The General basically called Adam pussy-whipped. :down

What's Superman exucse then? Clark's a good boy, raised humbly on the farm. He's always been a kind, loyal, sweet-natured, level-headed guy; before and after the experience of getting in Lois' pants. No real personality change in lieu of the 'tang.
Black Adam on the other hand was just wickedly badass, beating the holy hell out of anybody when he felt like it. Even when he had his runs of 'good behavior', it was still on his terms. Look at him towards the end of Infinite Crisis and pre-Isis 52; laying the smack down. Then comes Adrianna screaming "I am Isis!" and now we have this touchy-feely Adam, who gets that good ol' Black Adam hellraising reigned in and might as well go around singing folk tales. Isis has whipped it on him and it's not like BA has any of his boys who can come through, drag him to the local Kahndaqian nudie bar, have a few beers and tell him he's screwing up. It's all so sad. You, Teth-Adam/Khem-Adam/Mighty Adam/Theo Adam/whatever, sicken me. :o
That's gotta be some Grade A vajayjay, though. I never get any superpowered stuff. This sucks.

I didn't take it as if he was giving it to him but rather giving him a good look at the amulet and what happens. If he IS giving it to him I wouldn't be surprised if it was to make the new Dr.Fate a multi-pantheonic magician; kinda like Hector's "balance" magic.

I was rereading the first five issue online, and I got to thinking. We know he's turned evil. but the question is "When did it happen?" This is a replacement Skeets, because the original was encorperated into the new suit of Armor that Ted Cord made for him So was this version evil to begin with, or did it happen when his system crashed and Will Magnus rebuilds him? I'm suspecting the later. Although it could have something to do with Checkmate dismanteling Skeets.

Labs and notices that contact lenses were inserted post-mortem to make the blue eyes appear green, like Lex's. Lex Luthor barges in with a throng of reporters, claiming that the body is that of an impostor from another Earth, the man truly responsible for his various crimes.
Though Alexander's body had a missing finger and a different genetic make-up from Lex's, 52 editor Stephen Wacker has confirmed that the body found in Gotham is indeed Alex, and that Luthor had altered it before the police had discovered it.
so basically Lex went through the trouble of repairing Alex Luthor's acid-scarred face (and possibly his missing finger) while altering both his appearance and DNA to match Lex's, but when it came to eye colour he said "meh. contacts will do."
nice writing guys. :whatever:

Well, if you'd continued on in the book, they basically said that Lex put the contacts there on purpose, so that John would find them and "prove" to the press team he just "happened" to bring in at that moment that the body wasn't Lex, and that someone else had been impersonating him. He used it as a way to wipe his slate clean with the public.

and had you read the book closer you'd have noticed that Lex's only mention of the contacts is when he whispers to John. his explanation to the press and public however is that the body they see is a Lex Luthor from another reality, a reality that the original Lex had been trapped in and managed to escape moments before it ceased to exist. Lex was somehow able to alter Alex Luthor's DNA to match his own so why bother with the contacts? why not simply alter the eye colour as well? is it suddenly a given within the DCU that residents of alternate realities have different coloured eyes than their counterparts?

It seems like a brilliant move to have Richard Dragon take Renee Montoya under his wing. Not only does she have the chance to become an excellent martial artist and potential costumed vigilante, but it's obvious that she was in a self-destructive, downward spiral and needs to straighten her life out. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

I thought the debate between John and Natasha was pretty interesting. Did anyone notice that it's almost the exact same sort of debate being debated in Civil War? The whole responsibility versus heroism versus training thingy. Steel accuses them of being irresponsible and untrained, and Natasha boasts that they do more good right now than any of the "trained" heroes. The difference is that neither character had to look like a jackass Nazi for them to get their point across. Both characters had good points, and both had some bad points.

Also, the idea of The Question having a legacy makes no sense. The Question is Vic's way of finding himself. He never knew his parents. His name, Charles Victor Szazs, is just what the nuns at the orphanige called him. Vic Sage is his stage name. The Question is the closest he gets to having an identity that is truely his own. You can't have a legacy situation with that. God damn it, DC keeps screwing over the Charlton characters so bad. What next? We find out that Nightshade is secretly a serial killer/rapist who feeds on the blook of 55 year old jewish women named Fran?

If they kill Animal Man pretty much most my favourite second tire characters are gone and they have pretty much managed to kill everything that was good from the 90s (Wally West gone, Kyle Rayner not got an ongoing, Connor Hawke being jobbed by Winick) DC do realise a lot of their fans got into comics in the 90s and actually liked some elements from it, not everyone reading comic grew up in the 60s/70s :(

It probably wouldn't have resonated too much. The only friends he has in the hero community are Batman, Green Arrow, and Blue Beetle. Since Ted's dead, Bruce only barely comes close to liking him, and Ollie is so wrapped up in all this political crap, I doubt that it would have been noticed on that end of things. Besides them, Q's interacted with Superman at least once, but they've both displayed a very strong mutual dislike of one another (mostly because Vic has a bit of a crush on Lois). He's probably not that well known amung other masked crime fighters besides that.
This really pisses me off!! How many other Charton characters are they gonna knock off!!??? :cmad:
Ted Kord....dead before they really did anything with him!!!
Now the Question...........???????
Don't forget Captain Atom being crazy for no reason, Punch getting gunned down by middle eastern soldiers, and Nightshade barely getting any exposure in Shadowpact.
And here we go with the PC "let's put a woman in that role" thing!!
That's not as big a problem as the fact that he's being replaced at all. but it does make it seem a bit more cheap.
And do they keep calling him Charlie??? What happen to Vic Sage??
His full name is Charles Victor Szazs. Vic Sage is his stage name. And Tot always calls him Charlie.

WHere does it say he has cancer?
In week 24, Renee commented that he's been coughing violently. She asks him "When did you quit?" He says "Not soon enough." They're basically saying that he's dying of lung cancer. Which is bull, since, as I've said many times, he quit smoking a little over six years before the events in 52. If smoking every gave him terminal lung cancer, he'd have been dead for several years by now.

I never knew that the Question smoked cigarettes.
Ever since I heard rumors of the Question dieing, no one has mentioned him smoking. I've always heard that if anything was going to kill him it would be the chemicals from his no-face mask.

What's kind of odd is that Greg Rucka said the reason that Renne isn't Batwoman is that he sees that character (his own creation) wouldn't put on a costume and wouldn't don a secret identity or work as a vigilante.
So why would she become a new Question?

Week 27.
My mistake.
I never knew that the Question smoked cigarettes.
Ever since I heard rumors of the Question dieing, no one has mentioned him smoking. I've always heard that if anything was going to kill him it would be the chemicals from his no-face mask.
He smokes in the first issue of his solo series written by Denny O'Neil. Tot said the cigarrets introduced far too many foreign chemicals into his body, which is why he had an earlier problem with his mask sticking on. After that, he wasn't seen smoking again, probably because he wanted his mask stayed on better, to make sure his lungs wouldn't crap out on him in a fight, or most importantly and most likely, due to his newfound respect for his own life after his near death experiance in issue one. Also, early on he spent several months training with Richard Dragon, and Richard probably had a pretty strict "no smoking rule" during that streach. But, like Is said, that all happened about six or seven years before the events in 52.

What really ticks me off is that some people think Renee will be a good replacement and that this is a good idea. She's so far away from where The Question was at the beginning of his series, and she doesn't come off nearly as intelligent or witty.
Renee is gonna take questions "Place." How the hell do you become the "New Question" question is more then just a name, its the the characters attuide and personalty. The way he views his life and the world that makes him unique, you can't take some drunkard female cop and make her the "New" Question. Thats like takeing some gay actor off the street and makeing them the new "Marlon Brando".

Just finished week 27. Ralph's stuff was good, but the news about the Question went completely in the wrong direction.
When they killed Ted, I gave the new book a try. I'm not going to make the same mistake if the off Question and put Renee in his place.
DC's routine of trying to "reinvent" itself is getting pretty old.

I've seen this formula before with this 52 nonsense Kill off classic characters the then replace them with new crappy versions. Has Dan Didido watched Transformers the movie and thinks that approach will work here in comics?
Didn't work then 20 years ago It won't work now. Dick Parsons needs to hand this guy his pink slip before DC implodes.

That didn't work for them? Last I knew Wally was THE most popular Flash...

When it has to do with Black Canary, no one is suprised, Twy.
I loved week 27, and was feeling all good, and then I got to the origin of the week and got slapped in the face with ugly.
If I wanted to see an ugly face I'd just look in the mirror.

The only redeeming part of it was how vague they left it. They didn't address if she helped for the JLA..so..there's still hope!
