PS3 production pricing at this point has been laid out to be anywhere from $850 - $956 per unit, meaning there will be a loss on each machine of approx $250 - $350 per console sold. If one million consoles sell in the first day of availability Sony will have wiped their entire fiscal gain for all of 2005 in under 24 hours.

Bye Bye Sony. If they price the PS3 anywhere near $900 Dollars I always said that would be the start of a slow death for them.

Well the other day I was just thinking what it would be like if there was only one console, and I think it would work if it was modeled after PC gaming, with devs competing with each other and hardware competition being in the background (Sony and MS could make the same exact product that runs the same games) or whatever, but then I realised that PC gaming has been dying for a while, but my PC gaming friend took a lot of offense to it and swung a bat at me and I got in one little fight and my mom got scared and said "you're moving with your aunte and uncle in Bel-Air"

I whistled for a cab and when it came near the
licensplate said "Fresh" wit a dice in the mirror
if anything I could say that this cab was rare
but I thought man forget it, yo home to Bel-Air

I pulled up to a house about seven or eight

I do hope such a buyout would amount to too high a market share, resulting in the competition authorities getting involved and preventing it. Microsoft has had it's hands slapped by the European Commission and ECJ/CFI before.

THIS WOULD BE TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM ANY ANTI-TRUST/MONOPOLY ISSUES 'MS' HAS HAD IN THE PAST. IF A BUYOUT OCCURRED, IT'S NOT LIKE IT WOULD BE SOME HOSTILE TAKEOVER; IF 'SONY' AND 'MS' AGREED TO THE TERMS, THERE'S NOT A THING ANYONE COULD DO TO 'MS'.

They're above the law.I forget the exact case, but they were fined by the European Commission for not letting others access the information needed for third party additions. It was a heavy fine, though hardly one that Microsoft couldn't afford.

No, it will not. The fact the Sony is using Blue-ray will price it at the leat $500. If you are talking $399 Euros, perhaps, but it will be $500 American at the least.

Lo and behold, a year later from the PSP launch, Sony is making money on the PSP hardware. It was a project that was designed to make them money very early.

You don't, sadly, have to be an expert in the feild you make predictions in. The PS3 'blue ray' will cost nowehere near a conventional BR player.

Here's an example, and keep in mind this all happened a long time ago so finding the actual articles is next to impossible. But there were many reports saying that the PS2 would retail for at least 500 or more and that the BOM was over 600 dollars.

Prior to the Playstation 2 launch, analysts suggested that the system may sell for as high as $500. Sony surprised press and analysts with a $299 price tag at an annual video games convention.

This I agree with.

The film industry works fine. The movies are in competition with each other, and that's what raises the bar. It's a shame we can't all play the games we want to on a single console. I can't afford to buy all three consoles, and I miss out on a lot of the exclusive games that I'd buy if this weren't the case.

Just an fyi. PS3 top model is only $100, more than Xbox 360 top model. I will not buy the edit of Ps3 but after they work out all of the bugs, because you know there will be bugs, I will own a ps3. Nothing against xbox and it's fans but for me ps3 supplies me with the game I like to play mainly rpgs. But back on the topic all this commotion over the price is ridiculous. It's only $100, if thats too much don't buy it. Move on :-P

Maybe it's not for you. But for me 100$ is a lot of extra money. Personally I don't think PS3 will be worth that much more. I was very pleased with my Xbox first time around if this time around unless PS3 is far and away better I going to Xbox 360 way. I'm probably going to buy myself one for my birthday next month.

You're looking at an Xbox 360 BUNDLE PACK.. Only the first wave of systems came with a remote. The premium system comes with one wireless controller... Thats it. The bundle pack your looking at comes with 2 wireless controllers, a remote, and a play and charge pack. The system itself costs $400.. So you don't suck at math, you're just a moron.
