^Those two drawings are actually the first things I don't really like about htis game. Thor's face is cool, but he almost has no elbow in teh second drawing and reminds me a little too much of Liefield, And for some reason, Cap just looks weird to me in that pic. I can't really say why, maybe it's because his forearms are almost as big as his waist. Although, I do admit that the background of the plane is badass.

The Wii is a good system because not everyone has a thousand dollars to spend just to play a ****ing game. To get a PS3 is to waste a thousand dollars, because you have to buy the system for like 600 or so and then get all the stuff for it and the games are upwards of 60 dollars each.

360 is good, but it's not THAT good. I love Dead Rising, but it gets boring after a while, very repetitive. Tomb Raider got repetitive..perfect dark was a typical shooter. Halo 3 is going to be gay, it's just going to be rehash with better graphics and maybe a few move upgrades, but nothing spectacular and mindblowing. The top games for the system aren't THAT good. Not yet anyway.

What does Wii have? It's going to have smash brothers, it has good graphics, it's cheap. Lots of good, fun, games will be on it. RE5 might even find it's way there. Why? Because Capcom had GREAT success on the GC with the RE series; and they're not stupid (not too stupid), they'll see that no one is buying the PS3 and just put the game on all systems. And most game companies will think likewise. Nintendo will win again.


So please don't rag the Wii just because nintendo is known for "kiddy" games. It's a good system. Maybe you're an idiot and want to waste money for a VIDEO GAME...I'm sure that will get you a girlfriend. Or mommy and daddy are willing to shell out money for your every whim. But Wii is the intelligent choice. Wii and 360. PS3 is a joke.

The graphics are amazing, joy. But without good gameplay, affordable prices, the system will fail.


I estimate that the system won't become that popular until after it's been out and people can buy it used for the price of getting a 360.

That's not actually true....the sales for RE (and as a fanatic it pains me to say it) on the cube were dissapointing. That's why the so called GC exclusive RE4 was ported to PS2. It wasn't intended to ever be on PS2 till the sales come out.

And arguing about 360's greatness? Dead Rising (even though you are right that it can get repetitive, it's still fantastic), Ghost Recon, Fight Night 3, Condemned, F.E.A.R, Saint's Row, Call of Duty 3, Gears of War, Smackdown vs Raw (only next gen version around) and Splinter Cell Double Agent will be out by year's end. That's not even taking into account future big hitters like Halo Wars, Mass Effect and Bioshock and Alan Wake.

without nintendo... there would be no vibrating controlers (N64 rumble pack), First person shooters wouldn't be as legendary (Goldeneye N64), no motion sensing devices (Gameboy tilt styled games/Wii), the Psp or any other handheld device would not exist (game and watch (wich evolved into gameboy)), card strategy games would not be as popular (nintendo started off as a card game), microphones would not be with games (Hey you pikachu), nintendo also made a device to upload gameboy games onto the
N64 wich is pretty awsome, Nintendo simply reimagines and revitalizes the video game industry... they dont just take whats given and recreate it (like most industries) they revitalize it and push it in a different way. Mario is its mascot.. just like sega had sonic.. and well playstation had crash... many games and sequals to there games get made, even retarted ones... they appeal to all ages rather then just one age group.. and there fun. Plus they sell and what sells gets sequals.. like halo, tombraider, zelda, mortal kombat.. etc.. and on and on and on

No its all a method of cost. I hear the original X-men TAS actors cost quite a bit for a session. Plus they already know these guys and voice directors tend to hire who they're familiar with. The only exception to the rule I can think of is Andrea Romano. But shes like the most kick ass voice director ever.

If he was in this, it would make the game to a large degree pointless, since he would simply be able to crush most enemies you come across. Second, he would have to be incredibly de-powered to make the game even remotely balanced.

Man, that roster is going to need a massive reworking for the sequel. Notice how all the unlockables (and even PSP exclusives) are all street level fighters? Hell, pretty much everyone but Strange, Surfer and Sue Storm is a brawler in this game.

The sequel needs to be far more diverse. I'm talking Cyclops, Wasp, Vision, Sentry, Antman, Hulk, Hercules, Frost, Speedball, Hulking, Wiccan, Molly, Nico, Victorious, these guys need to be playable.

So I was thinking abot Collosus being possibly being a next gen exclusive, which got me thinking about that cinematic of Doom killing/mutilating x-men.

Maybe, since there are many possible paths and endings one can decide to take in the game, that is on possibility, or a game over cinematic. I don't know if I said that well, but that would certainly explain how they are able to kill characters and how colossus can be a playble character even though we've seen the x-men get their asses beat.

So I intended to respond to all your question over the weekend but as you know the site went down. That’s what happens when Roger does a live-action demonstration of what might happen when Wolvie and Spidey face off. So there were a LO-O-O-O-O-T of questions – which means this is going to be a V-E-E-E-E-R-Y long thread, as I’m going to TRY to get to them all. At least the ones I’m allowed to get to without completely losing my job! I’ll also section these off so you can jump around quickly if you don’t want to read the whole thread…

Characters
- On a 4th X-Man… – the character being revealed this week is one of the X-men. And that makes, well out of the ones we’ve officially confirmed, almost 4. But – as Yoda once said – There is another…
- Cameo appearances of various supporting characters – yes there will be tons. How do you think we get to over 140 in the game? http://vip.marvelultimatealliance.com/board/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif
- Squirrel Girl – wow, I thought I knew ALL the Marvel characters. Never heard of her.
- On going to Black Panther’s land – not completely improbably since there are so many levels and Black Panther has his own comic mission (but wait he’s an unlockable! What does this mean? You mean unlockables have comic missions too? I say YES!)
- Powers of characters are balanced by what their strengths are. Some known to be immensely strong are better tanks while others are better ranged fighters. And this game takes them all over the Marvel universe, so they are probably fighting some pretty powerful enemies… which means that even the most powerful probably can’t wipe everyone out with one stroke.
- Again, I’m not allowed to confirm characters that haven’t already been confirmed so I hereby ignore all other questions asking specifically which characters are in the game in order to keep my job and keep posting what I can to you.
- More of Hawkeye – check out some cool new wallpapers being released THIS WEEK.
- I think you’re going to be pleased with the character reveals this week. (Note the plural. And yes this does include NPCs).
- Another hint.. well last time I gave an extra hint on Black Panther, I totally gave it away so let me think carefully on this one. I think I’ll come to it by the end of this post…
- Unlockable vs. Starting – There are some characters like Dr. Strange that you unlock REALLY early on in the game, so we’ve never really called them unlockables to ourselves, but some you do have to get past a certain early level to get to. After the tutoring session, you start in with about 16 or 17 right off the bat, unlock a few more to round out the 20 really early on, and then get to others – the “real” unlockables – later…
- On downloadables… anything can happen since that doesn’t need to be done before we ship. I don’t think even we know for sure.
- Create your own character – no. I think that’s called City of Heroes.
- Masters of Evil / Wrecking Crew – Wrecking Crew is in the game. From the Masters of Evil IV, you named at least 2 in the game. So it’s not THAT Masters of Evil.
- Female character poll will come after we’ve revealed another female character… so, really soon.
- All sorts of different ways to unlock characters. Sometimes you save them, sometimes they save you… who knows…
- The ones that are added are actually the ones we think are YOUR faves, believe it or not. All sorts of research is done to try and get a pulse on that. Combos
- Each character has unique moves (and unique animations for their moves), so I don’t know why combos would be any different. But I haven’t seen them ALL in action, so I can’t say for sure.

Choosing Teams
- Strategy – strategy is kind of to each’s own so I can’t tell you what the BEST one is going to be. You have to look at who you’re going up against. Sometimes, people want to balance having a melee fighter, a ranged fighter, a good tank, someone who might be weaker but has the power kick… there are all sorts of different ways to look at it. If you don’t want to think about it, you could go with a default team – there are going to be 3 Marvel teams you can initially choose from, like the Fantastic Four. The others I would say one is easy to guess and the other is more obscure.
- Also, you should know that certain teams once put together provide certain bonuses and boosts if you’re able to find the special team combination. Special team combinations aren’t just based on the characters themselves but sometimes the costumes they wear as well…

Leveling Up
- Lots of ways to level up, through the main story of the game to comic missions. For example, one of the alternate costumes for a character will only unlock after you complete a special comic mission. - You can always focus on a certain character to increase stats so you don’t need alternate costume bonuses necessarily. It all depends on how you prefer to play the game.

Comic Missions
- Well, you’ve all been asking for me to say something on this! So here goes… Simulator Discs are hidden throughout the game, which when picked up, unlock a special Comic Mission which can be accessed via a Simulator Computer located at your team’s headquarters.
- There are comic missions for the initial playable roster of heroes AND for the unlockables.
- You can get to Silver Surfer through the story where he unlocks, or be awarded SS if you score a bronze or better in a comic mission.
- Comic Missions really test a specific character’s abilities and powers, so it might be good to wait until you’ve amassed all the unique powers before embarking on the comic mission.
- Score is based on the number of enemies you defeat and how quickly you can complete the mission, which is a balancing act in and of itself.
- In hero-based comic missions, you basically go it alone with your character – which means if you’re playing with friends, they can play the bad guys and make life tougher for you! Or help you ease your way through!
- There are also Versus comic missions where you can play as a full team against a big bad.

Skills
- On whether Mr. Fantastic and Ghost Rider have moves similar to Captain America’s shield attacks? Well, we’re getting those trailers posted pretty soon on the MEDIA + VIDEO page so you can see for yourself! If you can’t wait, here’s a preview…

Captain America:
- Shield Throw (what you think)
- Shield Bash (also self-descriptive – cool when he just bashes an opponent with his shield)
- Energy Shield – spins around, cutting a radius through enemies with an energized shield
- Shield Charge – charge through opponents with shield
- Reserve Strength – increase speed and damage
- Heroism – Reduce damage taken by entire team
- Avenger’s Shield – Increases damage done by all other extreme attacks.

Mr. Fantastic
- Elastic Crush – slam fists into victim
- Propeller Arms – as it sounds
- Drastic Elastic – swing arms in huge arc – arms are really long at this point
- Pinball – as it sounds – only Mr. F can be a pinball!
- Rubberband Recoil – jump into the air and come down on enemies, knocking them out
- Fantastic Fists – big fists, big damage
- Elastic Evasion – extra elasticity
- Orbital Attack – call in an air strike on nearby enemies

Ghost Rider
- Ravaging Flame – spontaneously combust the enemy. Yeah, that’s just cool.
- Chain Flechette – break chains into tiny pieces doing serious damage
- Fiendish Chains – fling an enemy into the air with chains. Also cool.
- Chains of Retribution – just imagine it. Lots of chains swinging around here.
- Fear – terrify nearby enemies, making them run in fear.
- Vengeance - steal the life from enemies and distribute it to party members.

So, uh yeah, not very similar to one another I would say…


New Game Plus – I’m not certain actually. I’m not ignoring your question, I’m just not positive of the answer! I think this is a question for Matt Paul. I can try and ask him for next time.

Why buy PC? If you own both PC and console and want the next gen. exclusives, then get the console version. If you play primarily on PC (like my boyfriend) then buy the PC. It’s really just another option for people who aren’t primarily console gamers, and the big win is that we were able to make the graphics look as good as the next gen. graphics! Costumes
- Yes all the playable characters including the unlockables will have at least 4 different costumes, a lot of which you have to earn as you progress through the game
- Different costumes give you different boosts. So while it may not change your unique power set, you could find that one costumes gives you better armor while another boosts your health stats, and another increases melee damage. So costumes ARE more than just skins…
- Silver Surfer has never really changed his look since his inception so I don’t see how he can have different looking costumes. But that doesn’t mean there couldn’t be different stats to different costumes that essentially look the same…
- When are you seeing Wolverine’s costumes? How about this week? Birthday suit is NOT an option.
- Spidey’s symbiote suit – how can I answer this diplomatically? How about we were THISCLOSE to showing it and then someone higher up told us not to? Because there’s a certain something else related to this coming out? I imagine when it’s out in the strategy guide, we can post it here. It kills me that we couldn’t right away.
- Captain America – yes he has his classic look - we’ll post that! We just wanted to leave something hanging for people who wanted to be surprised, but I guess those people can choose not to look at the news updates!
- As for this week’s costumes, there’s another that reveals an alternate character from the costume. This one a lot of you had already guessed, and this one is NOT two words…

Camera
- This is much improved from XML2 but still built from the same engine. So it is all the improvement possible given that fact. Because of the team-based gameplay, you will still get top-down angles to see all teammates, but there is an option to have a more 3rd person side angle as well, especially when characters fly, and more easily in some levels than other depending on how the level is designed.

Just to Clarify…
- All next gen. and current gen. versions have the same story, including PSP.
- Arcade and Competitive Mode are the same. The other mode is Cooperative Mode.
- People who pre-order the game can unlock Silver Surfer right away. People who don’t will still unlock him in an epic moment that is really, really easy to guess.
- Unlockables are in ALL platforms except GBA. So that includes Silver Surfer and Black Panther. And yes they are in PSP too.
- Release dates – 10.25 for PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360, PC and GBA. November for PS3 and Wii. PSP is now up in the air but will probably move to November.
- Theme played on main MUA page is from the game!

RE: Stan Lee and Marvel staff member appearances – well you can see them now in the behind-the-scenes videos! Ames Kirschen is one of the key guys at Marvel who links comics with video games – I think you’ll see him in the videos already, and Stan Lee will be in the 3rd behind-the-scenes video which will be up on the site next week (as soon as we finish editing it!). sounds like characters like Namor, phoenix, and nightcrawler are the real unlockables that he said "sometimes you save, sometimes they save you" i think thats how silver surfer is unlocked as well

This is the first real news regarding the game that has straight up pissed me off. Especially sinc Cyclops isn't playable because they wanted somethign new. Ah well, lets hope the next one is better.

There's still a 4th spot for an X-Man open - to make a team bonus on ALL platforms. As it won't be Cyclops, nor Jean/Nightcrawler... I'd say there's a good chance we won't get a repeat mutant for that last spot.

OK, my hints are really obvious – either that or you VIPs are just really good! One of the 2 next gen. exclusive characters in the game is – as you guessed – COLOSSUS! He's a great tank character in the game. Along with all the usual moves (Pulverizing Punch, Earthquake, Take Down, Colossal Crash), he also has this Special Throw where he can pick up an enemy until they're crushed by Colossus' massive strength - and then use the enemy as a weapon to batter foes!

I heard there are tons of cool new assets for you too this week, and 10 NPCs that are going to be revealed!

By the way, to answer a few more questions that came up after my last novel of a post…

- There are two modes in the game – Competitive (or Arcade) Mode and Cooperative Mode. I described Arcade Mode in another post on this thread so I won’t repeat – you compete based on who contributes most to the team, does the most damage, etc. The only way to play AGAINST your friends is in the hero comic missions where your pals can take on the roles of the villains while you’re the hero.

- Of course I can give you some of Sue Storm’s in-game moves! :-> She can do some very cool things.
Concussion Blast – Basically a powerful force blast.
Telekinesis – Levitates enemies and objects – very cool!
Kinetic Bolts – Fires kinetic bolts at enemies.
Kinetic Surge – Release a wave of kinetic energy to cause a lot of damage.
Kinetic Snare – Spin target in a kinetic sphere causing crushing damage.
Invisibility – Become invisible to enemies – also stunning enemies who receive a critical hit.
Fantastic Shield – Creates a large shield that deflects projectile attacks.
Ultimate Overload – Xtreme power. Creates a large arc of energy that damages ALL enemies on the screen and stuns them for 40 seconds. If the enemy is already stunned, then it critically hits them for 50% of their life. Girl power!

- Next gen. exclusives are available to all next gen. games – so Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii!

- No shotgun for Ghost Rider – it’s all about his chains and flames. But there’s another key character that has a shotgun and very cool moves with it…

- Yes, Silver Surfer can ride his surfboard and use powers at the same time. The same way characters like Human Torch, Thor, Iron Man and others can fly and use their powers at the same time.

- The unlockable code for Silver Surfer is something you need a console controller to do (it’s like up, down, side etc.) which is why it was only available for the console versions, even though Silver Surfer is available on other platforms as well.

- Yes team bonuses stack. So there’s a lot of strategy in do you want to mix things up, or stay with a core team, etc.

- Pretty much every playable character has their own comic mission which is pretty epic! The hero missions are for an individual character, and the versus missions are for the whole team – so there’s both. In terms of the hero missions, I think all but 2 or 3 have their own individual comic mission. You do have to play through the game to unlock on the comic missions.

- I’ve seen 4 costumes per character as a general rule.
