Storm was a powerhouse. She could clear a room in no time. Send out one of her whirlwinds then a lightning bolt as the enemies fall down and it's guaranteed to take out almost all of them.
Agreed, she is my favourite character. Team her up with Iceman and his powered up hailstones and you easily clear a room. Ms. Marvel and her prism move was great too. I mainly use Storm, Ms. Marvel, Iceman, Human Torch, Invisible Woman, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Thor, Mr. Fantastic, Deadpool and Daredevil.

I liked Magneto's Attack were he would lift everything in the air and bring it towards him. It was great when you had 10 boxes in a room with 20 bad guys because it would lift the boxes too and the boxes would hit your enemy in mid air and kill him. :)
Savage
08-30-2007, 08:59 PM
Yeah, that was pretty kickass. If they let everybody go full power though there would pretty much be no reason for playing guys like Daredevil and Spider-man other than favoritism. :oldrazz: I'd just pick Silver Surfer and go through the game without even selecting teammates.

Best way I can describe his attacks is a dash with his board where you can hold down the button and keep going (like a charge).
He has a beam that you can charge that's pretty powerful. He blasts with both hands.
A quick blast with one hand that usually sends enemies flipping (my personal favorite).
A thunder-clap-like move that clears an area pretty well.
A move similar to Thor's lightning attack where you tap a button and it attacks every enemy in the area repeatedly.
As for his extreme, as expected, an explosion of energy.
Pretty impressive character to play. It's for that reason that I really miss the versus mode (danger room). Putting up people like Thor against the Silver Surfer or Iron Man against Captain America would have been awesome. Plus we would have gotten to play the villains/bosses as well. :csad:

Don't forget his awesome boost that heals himself and anyone around him. Spider-woman can kind of do it, but not nearly as effective. Also his radial energy attack stuns enemies so it's really helpful in a bind. Having him on your team from the get go is really helpful, especially on your first attempt through hard mode lol

Which reminds me, Hank Pym just has to be Yellowjacket/Giant-Man/Goliath/Ant-Man in the next game. Both him and Wasp should come together like a package. You'd walk around as Yellowjacket with Wasp circling you (Like Dr. Stranges pixies) and do tag team attacks where you'd shrink or grow or use technology to your advantage.
Those two always work better as a team. Kind of like the Wonder Twins.
And Namor really has to be playable in the next game. An extreme attack where he causes a massive tsunami like in his fight with the original Human Torch would rock.

^ I heard Venom is one of them.
Venom is really only good at dying. Him, Elektra and Dr Strange get together and have little dying parties where they all die over and over while Cap, Doom, or Iron man have to save them.
Seriously, I did the Thunderball mission with the Rogues Gallery team of Doom, Magneto, Venom, and Sabretooth, and Venom died before getting through the first gate, then Magneto died on the other side, then Sabretooth on the bridge, then Doom took out Thunderball single handedly. Doom rules all. Too bad his costumes suck. I'd like to see downloadable replacements for the Secret Wars and Kristoff skins. Replace them with the Doom 2099 costume and his crazy evil leather armor made from the skin of his lover.

Really great graphics especially since the first trailer looked like total crap visually but the finished product was unbelievably good. Featured great cast of characters which leave you with different choices even though some were better than others. The story felt like a classic 80's comicbook that sortof reminded me of Secret Wars, my favorite aspect of the game was the unreal great comic story leaving you in the shoes of your favorite hero making you make tough choices, Who shall die Nightcrawler or Jean Grey? Waste valuable time to save Lilandra or save the ship? Which member do you sacrifice in order to save Ghost Rider and advance to next level? Those couple of choices really gave me atleast many reasons to keep on playing the game to see ,What if I chose not to save Jean, the ship, etc. It also gave me many times to replay story mode just so I could upgrade my character to his/her highest abilities and unlocking KICK@$$ costumes. It also left me on a cliffhanger anxiously waiting for MUA 2 to this day. This was THE BEST MARVEL game IMO.
Only gripe would be I wish we had more characters to play as but other then that....

Nathan
09-15-2007, 05:43 AM
In the next game the costumes should either have no power ups and be just that, costumes. Or give you the ability to equip costumes with abilities of your liking. Similar to the game 'Spider-Man: Enter Electro' for the PS1. In that game you could choose your costume and the power ups you wanted to equip.
Havok83
09-15-2007, 06:30 AM
I think they had a good concept with the costumes but it was executed wrong. I think it would have made sense to have different abilities with different costumes, for example, Ms. Marvel's regular costume and Binary, or Spidey's regular and Stark Armor. It would have been cool to see them gain an extra power or 2, but they didnt do that. I didnt even bother to level any costumes bc I thought it was a waste.

09-15-2007, 09:41 AM
I didn't have a choice. As much as I agree with ppl's thoughts on the costume and power ties, there were times when I had no choice but to succumb to it.
Like when I play Cap's simulation mission, I have to use the U.S. Agent costume b/c it improves his melee damage. But I'd much rather use his classic costume just coz it looks better.

i was torn for which i preferred....
i thought the rare characters that appeared in UA made it really enjoyable....
i had an odd team line up of thing, torch, deadpool and captain marvel
the game had masses of potential with other characters but what really let it down was the fact that they had Dr. Strange and Silver Surfer in there....i mean two of the most powerful characters in the comics stuck in a game where they can only just hit something a few feet in front of them.....they shouldnt be in the game unless they can do what their full potential is.....
as for Xmen Legends....notplayed the 2nd cos ive heard its worse than the first but i was a bit disappointed by the way again the characters performed in relation to how they would actually perform in the comics.....the character choices were good but the AI was stupid which was really frustrating...
but i have to ask now about UA....
If you could pick 20 playable characters from the Marvel Universe who would you pick?

Yeah in MUA. In XML2 his X-treme attack took like 1.5 seconds, it was probably the fastest one. After playing Cable and X-man in the PSP version of XML2, I really wish they were both, or at least Cable was in MUA :( :down

If there's one thing they screwed up in MUA, it's forcing everyone to use their X-Tremes at the same time. It's sad, because they finally got rid of that shared-token system.

Savage
09-24-2007, 11:05 AM
They're actually some of the best characters in the game. Hulk is already twice the size of most characters, literally, and he's very powerful but you can make him grow to twice THAT size where he's even stronger and faster. Perform his Hulk Smash extreme where he jumps off screen and slams both fists in the ground and creates a shockwave and it's just chaos.
Magneto and Doom are just badasses. Put on their sheilds and just go nuts. It's just cool flying around being pretty much unstoppable and blasting everything in your path. Lightning, lasers, big metal spheres(plays like Captain America's sheild), all good stuff.

the characters i used (on PSP of course) that i found great as a team for all round attacks were
1.Human Torch - He can take out shielded opponents with ease
2.Thing - Is good for fighting powerhouses and end of level bosses
3.Captain Marvel - Can clear a screen of enemies in the blink of an eye
4.Deadpool - when equipped with the right gear he can be very effective.i equppied him with the poison gear and everytime he shoots someone or grenades them they start dying which weakens them greatly....
a very effective team and i tried other combinations of characters but these 4 seemed to work the best.

You can purchase a wireless connection from MS that goes directly on the back of ur 360. Its a bit pricey(100 bux) but i love mine. I have the same problem as you except the router is in the house next door(i live in a condo at school). When i am home tho, i just run a long ass ethernet cord from the back of my xbox to the router in the next room. Running a cord from the 360 directly to the router is the only way i know how to do it other than using the MS wireless setup.

yeah, well, the cord in my case would have to run through the kitchen/breakfast nook, a hallway past the garage and laundry room, and into my bedroom. So I may just have to save for that wireless hook up... hundred though? How much is the subscription, though?

See now that's what I was thinking. Also spend more time on the cosmic stuff so we can see some Thanos and Annihilus action with some Nova and Quasar. Annihilation would make a great storyline, at least partially. Somehow incorporate World War Hulk, Planet Hulk, Civil War, Secret War, Operation Galactic Storm or The Infinity Gaunlet. Some kind of combination of these events into one cohesive storyline for a videogame would be fantastic.

i think the biggest problem with the XML/MUA games are that the boss battles really arn't that epic... and its mostly due to the fact your looking down at them.. and really all you do is have 4 people "team up and hit" I'm not sure how to fix it... they tried a little bit by making apocalypse big, and odd matches like fighting galactus, fing fang foom, and the frost giant... but fighting villains like loki, doom, magneto, hell even lower on the list like lizard should feel more epic then the average goon... and i dont think they really do

I'll second that. But one thing they need to do is make the bosses more vulnerable to damage. I mean for crying out loud, the Xtreme attacks are so useless against them! WTF They only do like 0.5% damage if that

I really hope they choose to do an infinity gauntlet/infinity war type game for MUA 2 with Thanos as the main villain. Honestly, wheres the love for Thanos and Warlock in these games? The sequel needs to be more epic...and they need more heroes that aren't really from earth ie Quasar, Warlock, Black Bolt, Namor (sort of) etc
So... Cosmic and Time Travel?
That would be AWESOME. Imagine Thanos using the time gem to redo and explore marvel's past, present and even future, taking the other infinity gems as they become most convenient throught time and space. This could lead to reliving and taking part in some classic battles. Partrons/Bases of these transports could be Young Kang/Iron Lad, Cable with his time travel setup, The Runaways (with the Yorkes devices for Runaways fans), The Timebroker from the Exiles, and perhaps some I haven't thought of.
For Boss Battles:
More dynamics in the terrain deformation. MUA had some neat boss tricks, the battle with Grey Gargoyle and Tiger Shark come to mind, aside from the button press giants. (Great mini-bosses, perhaps every stage should have one)... perhaps one boss that involves the raising and lowering of maze like walls on the fly could be interesting as you try to manipulate them to corner him as he does the same to you. Or a boss who blends in seamlessly with his room full of low hp minions. Or a boss that stalks you and gives you short fights intermittently thoughout an entire given level (been done, yeah, but it helps build). Or a boss that absorbs the attacks you give it and dishes it back on your teammates. Or bosses that you're trying to get to overload (overuse their own power). Or bosses that are threatening innocent civillians and your main goal is to distract him from killing the people running away.
And you can always make them more epic by giving the more lines, more destructible environments (knocking people through walls is always epic), and bigger more explosive attacks.
I don't think that the whole game should follow Civil War, but I do think that having a certain "level" exclusively be the Civil War would be cool.
But, honestly, it's hard to top MUA... I hope that they do manage to spruce up the bosses a bit and, in all honesty, add more characters, still keeping each unique. There's room to grow... perhaps even innovate, in the ARPG genre.
I think Xtreme Attacks (can't remember the MUA name) should have a boss version, one that's focused on a single target for larger single point damage. I also think there should be a way to link them, as RPGs often have linked supermoves, for a supercombo.
I also think bosses would be more epic if the shutting of the door leaves you feeling trapped rather than 'oh, I'm in this room, cool.'
Sparta*
12-04-2007, 11:45 AM
yeah they need more destructible environments in MUA 2, as well as more extreme attacks including one for each boss. Also I wouldn't mind more individual grapples (like Doom's strangle instead of just punching) and big bosses that don't require button press combo's to finish them off...it would have been funner beating on guys like Ymir instead of just doing a combo

good ol' hype triple post
Gotta love it.
I think if the button press combos were more than just dodging and flips, then we'd really have something. Having an agile (Spideys), strong (Things) and ranged (Fury) version of button press combos would add a lot to those sequences for me. It was so crazy fighting the Kraken with Thing, I almost laughed. But I could see that there should be some space to just beat on these guys as well, from the ground, from nearby platforms perhaps, from ON the villains themselves, having some of those giant battles be multi-tiered could be REALLY fun... MasterMold HERE WE COME!
I know I'm crazy, but I have this pipe dream about 8-player two-screen multiplayer, even online, where, y'know, you could have eight guys running amok together, or they could split into two teams of four. Of course, I also imagined a slight zooming feature like the old Samurai Showdown games. But something tells me that's just my typical dream-state ramblings that would turn level design from a science into a contorted nightmare.
I just wanna play Cyclops. That's all. Is that so much to ask?

Yeah, its unfortunate that having so many characters definatley causes some characters to not be as good as they could be (big example is Spidey, he should have been able to wall crawl, web enemies in instead of having to go up to them and grab them etc but i'm sure they wanted to save that so people would want to buy his solo games)
I dunno about Mastermold as a villain, he was already in XML1 (well...not really but in name lol) Cyke is in the 360 version of MUA, can you get access to that? He is one of the best characters overall i'd say and really fun to use

And he's just as good if not better in MUA (with the exception of his extreme attack which was so drawn out and unecessary)

I loved Cyke in XML1. His moves worked seemlessly, but in XML2, he had that little bit of lag on his wide beam that I just didn't like, but still- he's always a winner in my book:cyclops: .

Also, I think MUA2 should have a vs mode like XML, but with a little more freedom. I loved playing against my friends, especially in the x-mansion in the first XML. Slamming each other into furniture and running into the rooms to avoid getting blasted just to have it brought down all around you- that was fun stuff!
