Anyone ever play War of the Gems for SNES? That was basically an early version of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

It featured Wolverine, Spider-Man, Capt. America, Hulk, and Iron-Man. There were probably like 8 or 9 different missions, featuring Sasquatch, The Thing, Daredevil, Dr. Doom, and Thanos as various bosses throughout the game. For any given mission, you could elect to be one of the 5 main heroes.

Marvel actually has several "Batmen", not including NightHawk and HawkOwl, who were created more as parodies of Batman than they were as heroes in their own right.

Moon Knight: Works at night, almost no powers, relies on skills and gadgets, rich as hell, uses fear as weapon, custom vehichles based on theme, usually works solo.

Blank Panther: Trained his whole life, rich as hell, custom vehichles based on theme, fathers death part of motive, black costume with ears and cape, almost no powers, relies on skills and gadgets, usually works solo.

Iron Fist: Rich as hell, trained most of his life, parents death as motive, only power is a result of training, usually works solo or with single partner, bat-winged symbol on chest.

The list goes on, but most of them have already been mentioned.

Gameplay is the most important thing in a video game, everything else is just gravey. Marvel vs. Capcom made some odd choices in character selection (Marrow) but it was still fun game.

...Awesome.:D Their voices are spot on. Especially Spidey's which reminds me of the old 60s cartoon. Cap is a true badass and everything seems to be in order. :)

Oh and the ability to take weapons from others and use it against them; very cool stuff. I hope the sequel takes advantage of the next gen capabilities and transfers all of the X-men from the old games into it. Just keep adding more and more Marvel characters to the point where the entire universe is in there...Well that would hold me over till the MMORPG comes out anyway.

Now People i could see them throwing out of left field replacing certain "almost clones" (punisher, black panther and reed (who might be more of a prof X in some ways)... Moonknight, deadpool, ironfist, black cat, cloak/and or dagger, deathlocke, beast, nightcrawler, iceman, hawkeye, Hank pym (as giant man and antman), scarlet witch, luke cage, Ms. Marvel, Rogue, quicksilver, colossus, hulk, vision, wonderman, nick fury, spiderwoman... I could see a few of these easily take over. though i have a feeling this will be an avenger heavy game, rather then X-men... and some characters will def have tie in's to NP.. such as if phoenix is a villain then cyclops is def in the game... if hulks a villain, then id count on doc samson or she-hulk, is magneto.. then count on one of his children..

now if you think about what characters whos powers we havent seen in a game like this... i personally think that hawkeye, giant man, vision, quicksilver, mr. marvel, would all be some interesting people to play as... in fact... not only would i bet ironman, and daredevil are in the game... but id count on hawkeye as well

His work argueably better than either Romita or Ditko himself. In fact, these days its almost impossible to find Spidey merchandise without his artwork on it. My guess is that Raven is trying to give me a nervous breakdown by not officially announcing Daredevil (we know he'll be there).

So, pretty much anything I want in the game won't be there, or at least it will be announced at the very last minute, just to spite me.

Doing this sort of stuff to me is not above Raven. I've suspected it for a long time.

I just dropped all my X-men titles except Astonishing because they bore the crap out of me. Ultimate X-men doesn't and has remained pretty consistent. Good Quality. Point for Ultimate X-men.

I actually love spidey right now... not his suit persay.. nor the new powers (wich to be honest havent even really been used much so chances are they'll be forgotten. The unmasking is really something peter has neve done, and i always did wonder what would happen.. so im loving this

I agree, even though I hate the the whole concept of Civil War and :spidey: unmasking, it's all very well written, and so are recent issues of :ff: , especially the stuff with Thor's hammer out in Oklahoma(SP?).
And the spike things only come out when :spidey: is fighting a supernatural opponent, in order to level the playing field a bit.

Trust me, 616 is better than Ultimate any day of the week! Other than Shadow Cat, the Ultimate X-men have crappy costums, and I hate how the charecters were changed to please special interest groups. For the record, 616 Hank Pym isn't nearly as much of a jerk, and has more than just growing/shrinking powers. Yes, he hit his wife, and that's bad, but it was an open palm, back handed Pimp-Slap, not the homicidel(SP?) attempt at punching Wasp while she was bug sized that Ultimate Pym made.
As for his other powers, he can command insects,(most often ants) fly, and shoot bio-electric energy blasts from his hands.

Ultimate U. is just cooler....not to mention the fact its MUCH better written. Mark Miller is one of the best writers in the buisness today. The whole Ultimate line got me back into comics after years of being bored by the sub par repeated antics of the 616 U.

Ultimate X Men's first six or so arcs were some of my favourites ever, because it was so fresh and well done. The Ultimates is just amazing (before this comic, I could not have give a damn about the avengers or even Hulk, really).

I respect your opinion, but I will choose Ultimate over 616 90% of the time.

Cyclops = boring.

iceman = mostly boring

jean grey = mostly boring

beast = interesting as a cat face written by whedon and morrison, and in the movie, but otherwise boring

Then you just suck. Out of the original 5 the only boring ones are Jean. And Angel. But Beast always rocked and Cyclops is the epitome of unused potential. Iceman is kinda a douche now, but he's never been boring.

One of the moderaters at the Haven of Apocalypse boards has posted that new playable characters will finally be revealed at Comic-Con. Also, he posted that the official site has been experiencing technical difficulties the past 3 weeks, so that's why we are just now beginning to get new characters added. Everything is now fixed, and they're now working on catching up with the updates.
