Im thinking Jay, but Nick could also work.

Yes, I could see that too. But in that case, it would be hard to come by someone suited for Gatsby with Depp as Nick.

I don't think so, Nick is the main character and Gatsby is pretty much a big idiot.

In reality, yes, but he puts on the facade of sophistication. If you just make him an idiot, then the point of the story is lost.

But his facade is very easy to see through. I agree that you need a great actor, but I don't see Depp as Jay at all.

I could see it. His Ed Wood had that kind of naive enthusiasim that would translate well into Gatsby.

Ok I have two new one's, both focused on Pierce Brosnan:

Imagine if Timothy Dalton had never gotten the part of James Bond. If young, big haired, skinny Pierce Brosnan was not stuck in the role of Remington Steele due to contract issues.
