View Full Version : This might sound like a stupid, immature, maybe even pathetic question but....
.....is Mary Jane the only person Peter has ever been uh "intimate" with?
It’s a silly thing to ask, I know, but I just wondered if they ever brought it up in the comics? I mean being the "party girl" that she was; she must have had more "relations" with other guys than Pete with girls, right?

Hard to say...there are always things implied, but gotta remember a lot of their single days were done in a much different era where people thought differently than today. Back then, they actuallly waited a few dates before jumpin' into bed with people whereas today, it's like a requirement after th' first date.

Okay... readies for debate with Stillanerd and Themanofbat..
No. MJ isn't the only one he's been intimate with.
Black Cat is pretty clearly established as being a former lover of Peter's.
Then there is implication that he slept with Betty Brant during one of her separations from Ned Leeds.
And... of course.. we have GWEN (cough-ASM #99- cough).
The real problem in answering this definitively is that because of the comics code and social mores of past decades, sexual contact could never be shown explicitly. We never even saw married couples like Reed and Sue Richards literally sleep in the same bed until nearly 20 years after their marriage issue.
So, one can only guess as to who else Peter might have slept with.. But using logic... GWEN, Dammit! :O ;)

Well, technically, with the comics code in the past and all, this has been open to much debate.
Some people reckon he would've slept with Betty Brant bak in the 60's, some reckon that they were only 1st base teenagers. We'll never know for sure, as not much was allowed in comics in those days. Believe it or not, Stan Lee really pushed many boundaries and managed in the best way he could, to get around this stuff and not be shut down
Now, for most people Gwen was Pete's 1st. Stan Lee even called them lovers back in the swinging 60's. He even refered to Pete as a 'swinger.' Lol:) This is one of the many things that pissed off a lot of people in the Sins Past arc, JMS tried to retcon it. This REALLY pissed me off. Stan Lee's run of Pete's college days, and Loeb's Spider-Man:Blue, (which is both inspired and set in the college days,) are both considered some of the best Spidey stories ever told. Stan heavily implied as much as he could, that they did, do the nasty. LIke I said, he even called them lovers. Don't forget, at this time Stan was working very hard to keep his older college audience, and have it grow larger. A more mature Peter, dealing with serious issues on college campus,' drugs, death, and mature relationship problems fit in with this ideal. Don't forget, at this time Stan was touring the colleges of America giving lectures on the world he created. When Jeph did his story, he followed this suit, and touchingly showed the scene where Pete and Gwen took the 1st steps to an, 'intimate,' relationship. This is the main thought of Peters 1st
We also had The Black Cat. This was during the 'grim and gritty,' 80's mainly, so it was expected that they had a full on relationship. And with a girl like her, it sure would be hard not to! Besides, there's no way in hell a girl like Felicia would stay in a PG relationship while living so tightly with someone! Lol
Obviously MJ too, apparently, was it, ASM 158 was their supposed 1st time? I have no idea their 1st time. Although, according to PAD, this was Pete's 1st. Most people think that's BS though. I know I do
Sorry if I forgot anything relevant, but that's it I thinks!

Right.
Stan wanted his audience to grow and his comic to age socially with the fanbase.
What a concept!
Anyhow
Yes Gwen slept with Peter probably an uncountable amount of times
Yes Peter (or should I say Spider or Lover) Slept with Black Cat numerous times
Maybe Peter slept with Betty
Peter slept with MJ until after Gwen and before Black Cat.
Again, this couldn't be spelled out or visualized for you. You have to understand that when People end a scene in the Bedroom or a scene begins the morning after in a bed................
...........then two people had sex in that bed or tried and had irrectile disfunction.
I would hope Peter doesn't or didn't need Viagra.

ASM 149 was definatly his first time with MJ

Black Cat has mentioned several times that she "did the nasty" with Pete as well (SMBC 1/SM Unlimited 11/101 WTEACS)
And as well MJ's party girl aspect was merly a facade created to mask her insecurities and issues regarding her family (ASM 259)

The man IS a freakin' genius!
I mean, think about it, he made SPidey age in real time in the 1st few years, it slowed down afterthe college years. This way he kept his fans, as they grew with Peter, and this way, Peter constantly stayed relevant in some way.

There we go. That was the 1st time they had some blatant innuendo.
I don't even know if it was his 1st time with MJ, but it DEFINATLEY was the 1st time Spider writers weren't afraid to blatantly show that he's a grown up inside, as well as outside the bedroom

For older readers, who understand that comics can be written in layers for different age groups, yes.
For those writers who would actually write stories dealing directly and bluntly and salaciously with the matter, NO.

Damn, from Osborn to Electro, just about everyone wants to have a spider ride in Millar's storyline. :o :D
I could almost tolerate Sins Past if they treated it as an out-of-continuity humor story.
Gwen: I.. I slept with Norman, Peter, while we were dating. I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist that washboard hair!
Peter: Uh, Gwen, I have something to tell you, neither could I.
Gwen: My boyfriend slept with Norman! His arch enemy! Who else had sex with Norman!?
A bunch of Spider-man supporting cast members and villians raise their hands
JJJ: Me too.
John Jameson: And me
MJ: Oh, yeah.
Liz Allen: Oh God, YES. YES YES YES! He was spectacular!
Flash: Um, I wasn't getting any in the army at the time, and I was drunk at the time! It was only once, I swear! Okay, twice.
Doc Ock: Hey, I did too! But I'm crazy from brain-damage, I've got an excuse!
Vulture: I'm senile, that's my excuse.
Electro: Millar retroactively made me gay, so I did too.
Mysterio: Not me. I can build robots. Okay, a robot of a sexy, Norman Osborne with washboard hair.
Rhino: I'm stuck in this suit so I can't do it, but you better believe I wish I could!
Sandman: Yep.
Shocker: Definetly.
Jackal: No, but that's because I made myself a clone of Norman. TWO clones. At the same time.
Lizard: The only waaaarm-blooood I am every attraaaaacted to. Yesssss.
Kraven: I have shown Osborne the passion of the jungle!
Kingpin: He owed me money, but I took.. favors... as a substitute. Wonderfui, pleasurable favors. I've hired prostitutes to dress as Osborne to recreate that passionate night, but alas, nothing beats the real thing.
Hammerhead: He gives good me. think about it for a second to get the joke
Harry:...
Everyone looks at Harry
Harry: Look, my father was a sick twisted SOB, but even he wasn't that twisted.
Got to be nominated for funniest post of 2006. Zev and Doc Ock 4Mugen's are the others I can think of so far.

Actually, that's a very valid point.
I like the way Millar plays that, instead of being over the top and obvious, he does it in a very subtle manner. For some of these charachters, to be SO obssessed with Peter after all of these years, there are some weird underlying obssessive/love psychology behind it
Shakespeare toyed with a lot of these in his works. I mean, think about it. While in a lot of grand stories, it was a given that guys could be best mates, or arch enemies,to obssessive degrees, and that was just the way it was to make a grand scale story. Shakespeare on the other hand, played with it. He said that in a normal world, people aren't like this with each other for no reason. Many this day believe that he was gay because of this.
Whether he was or not, is not the point. But I do think that he was onto something there. After so many years, and so many writers, and so much history with Spider-Man, it does get to the point that you feel, 'you know, there are a lot of bizaare levels to this obsession. Why would someone behave like this?

Yeah. Shakespeare also played with gender a lot. The fact that all the characters were played by men instantly did that, but the stories themselves almost always had some form of gender confusion.
And really, that man had "the horns," if you know what I mean. ;)
Whoever says Shakespeare is boring obviously doesn't know what they're talking about. :o

Well, considering that they have done a story where the reveal Gwen Stacy couldn't keep her legs shut because of Norman Osborn's ability to use Tag body spray...I think its safe to say that Pete knocked boots with plenty of ladies over time.
Betty Brant was the first woman he loved. There is a huge chance these two knocked boots. I definitely feel he nailed Gwen. He had to of. And it's been talked about plenty of times that Black Cat got it a bunch of times from Pete.
And through the 90's Pete and MJ were like two rabbits. Wasn't too much of a surprise that MJ finally got pregnant.
I mean...if you were Spider-Man and risking your life every single day...you'd be knocking boots left and right. Much like the way James Bond is always charming the ladies into his domain. It's an adrenaline thing. All that action and adventure and you need to let it all out with a pleasurable experience with a lady.
And Pete had quite a ladies gallery at his disposal.

Gwen definitely. She was the first for Pete.

The way they wrote Mary Jane back then and if you'd interject that into modern times...I'm sure she had a body count. I still disagree about Betty Brant. Those two did a bit more than just talk through the night once. Interject that relationship into modern times and that would have probably been Pete's first sexual experience. :o

I doubt Betty. Their relationship was too shaky for there to have been that step taken. If they'd had sex, their commitment would've been deeper and they wouldn't have broken up for the reasons they did. Also, look at how easily both of them got over the relationship. In ASM #41 when Betty returns, there's nothing between them. Whereas Peter was once jealous of Ned, he's relieved that ned takes Betty off of his hands. While I don't think Peter is as careful (or fearful) of sex as some who believe Peter didn't have sex until MJ, I do think it means enough to him to put more effort into a relationship once its been initiated. Look how much effort he put into his very doomed-from-jump relationship with Black Cat. He'd have been even more determined if it was his first sexual experience.
I do believe they had sex during Marv Wolfman's run, when Betty left Ned.
As for MJ, I have little doubt she had other sex partners. Maybe not as many as her persona makes it appear, but she turned down Peter's marriage proposal to date other guys. During the Disco era. Something had to have happened. I also wouldn't be surprised if something happened, or at least got close to happening with Harry.
