It would be great if my CD player could use this. I'd have no need for multiple CDs.

But yeah, they're worthless. Shelf-space eternal. Retailers will be happy.

This is ridiculous. No game will need a 200 GB disc this gen.

I GUESS I'M JUST NOT SEEING THE "BIG PICTURE" YET. WHY WOULD ANYONE PAY THAT MUCH FOR A FRAGILE, SCRATCH-PRONE DISC, WHEN YOU COULD GET A PORTABLE HDD, WITH MORE STORAGE, INSTEAD? BESIDES.......IT'S ALMOST LIKE THEY'RE INVITING MEDIA PIRATES TO START COPYING/SELLING BLACKMARKET HD MOVIES, AS SOON AS THEY HIT THE SHELVES. :o

THESE AREN'T GAME DISCS, YOU DOOFUS. :down:oYeah but the PS3 and possibly the 360 too with an add-on will use Blu-Ray. Which is as useless as HD-DVD for gaming.

1.) NO, THE '360' WILL NEVER USE BLU-RAY
2.) A 200 GB DISC WOULD BE TOO EXPENSIVE TO USE FOR A $60 GAME; THE 50 GB DISCS WILL RETAIL FOR ALMOST $50........BLANK. THOSE WILL BE FOR FANATICS WHO WANT EVERY EPISODE OF 'STAR TREK'.........INCLUDING ALL OF THE SPIN-OFFS..........ON ONE DISC, IN HD. :down

One series of Trek in HD would take up more than one Blu-Ray, I've checked :(

TheCardPlayer

You're right... I just checked.

There was some guy that said it would from MS but they never followed on. And having all Highlander episodes on one disk would be amazing however. I'd pay for that.

It's just way to early to replace DVD already anyway.

DVDs running out of space, I can't think of a better time to replace a storage medium.

Luckily, all TV shows suck so there's no reason to buy anything that could fill a blu-ray disk.

I'm not going to replace my DVDs though. And I doubt I'll ever get a blu-ray player.

TheCardPlayer

But will people want to replace their 400 disc DVD collection for a new medium? And furthermore, Blu-ray/HD-DVD is made for HD TVs and most owners of a DVD player don't own one.

They should have waited a few more years.

CSI for the win. Greatest thing ever on television.

That still probably wouldn't cut it. With features, you'd be looking at at least 50-60gb's, or more, per series, probably a lot more for Next Generation/Deep Space Nine since they were much longer. We'll have to wait for holographic discs before the Trek disc will work.

WHICH IS ONLY ABOUT 7-10 YEARS AWAY, IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN.

LOL.......REMEMBER THAT CRACKHEAD WHO THOUGHT THE "NEXT-GEN" GAMES MIGHT BE LIKE THE HOLODECK IN 'STAR TREK'? :D
